Another great book from Jamie Oliver, this time focusing on how to put more superfood foods into our diet through delicious recipes and some helpful tips. Each recipe comes with nutritional info and making time; at the end there is talk about healthy life through food, sleep and knowing how to bring quality and length to one's life. (If you want to know more of the last point, and more in detail, try Buettner's "Blue Zones" book.)

The foods are categorized by meal type: breakfasts, lunches, dinners, snacks, and drinks (lunches and dinners can be switched in place). Each recipe has a photo, and some benefits of certain parts of meals are mentioned, sometimes twice or so. Poppadoms and Marmite also pop up here and there (poppadoms can even make a snack, when filled with some things, as is shown in a specific page for them).

Some of my favorites were:
Awesome granola dust, Black rice pudding, Figgy banana bread blood orange & nut butter, Rye soda bread, My Bircher muesli, Asian crispy beef, Healthy chicken caesar, Chicken and garlic bread kebabs, Whole wheat spaghetti sprouting broccoli chile & lemon, Asian green salad, Mega veggie burgers, Spelt spaghetti vine tomatoes & ricotta, Indian roasted cauliflower, Fagioli fusilli, Super-tasty miso-broth, Raw vegan flapjack snacks, Date cocoa & pumpkin seed energy balls.

It's true that I'm a picky eater, but even I found something appealing and delicious here. I appreciated all the added nutritional information for the recipes, and the healthy information after the recipes was great, though I'm familiar with some facts (and sleep already well). This is certainly one quality cookbook to have.

This book is brilliant. I have followed Jamie Oliver's career since he was a sprog, with interest as I too hailed from Essex back then; but never bought any of his books because they just didn't seem like my taste. Watching Superfood on TV, I thought, this guy is finally cooking the kind of food I like, the ingredients I tend towards anyway. So I bought the book. OMG! Every recipe I try is absolutely delicious; leaves my mouth reeling from the assault of flavours, and my body feeling satisfied in a way that is positively indolent for a book that helps you watch your weight. The portion sizes are very generous and I can't believe I'm actually losing weight eating like this. But the food is so delicious. My husband thinks he's in heaven. I can only say to the people who are knocking this book; lay off the junk and give your taste buds a chance!

As a personality, I find Jamie Oliver offputting. He's over the top in an irritating way and too impressed with himself. That he is always calling people he doesn't know well by supposed affectations like lovey, darl, me ol' mate, etc etc.. instead of bothering to remember their names irks me probably more than it should. His books however, do not reflect his arrogance and self absorption (most of the time). They (most of the time) reflect a love of food that I can respect.
He doesn't pump out worthless books that have no impact on the life of readers. He actually does a damn good job spreading the word about fresh is best. Emphasizes the need to eat well and know where your food comes from.
His background in Italian peasant cookery and his early training at the River Cafe, really stuck with him throughout his cooking life and he has used his media mastery to get people of all classes making better choices and thinking about what they are putting into their mouths.
That hunger to get people cooking and eating fresh non processed foods is strongly embedded in this book, Everyday Super Food.
I have bought quite a few Oliver books over the years, and yet this one nearly turned me off with its use of those latest buzz words 'super food'. Aren't they all super food if they are fresh and unprocessed?
However, I stumbled upon the tv series to go with the book and after watching a few episodes I was impressed.
In this book he is cooking how I eat these days. For example, swapping out processed flours for whole wheat. Brown rice instead of white. He is including foods that are loaded with nutrition such as black beans.
I am loving this book and am inspired by so many recipes in it. In fact, this could actually be the best cookbook this bloody drongo has ever put out.

Over the last few weeks, my house has been on the “Jamie diet”. Not intentionally, I might add. When my review copy of Jamie Oliver’s latest cookbook Everyday Super Food arrived in the post, a quick flick through revealed some delicious looking recipes. A closer look had me wanting to try just about every recipe in the book, and so, night after night, I’ve found myself turning to this book for mealtime inspiration.

One of the most accessible and easy to use Jamie Oliver books! For a change, I feel like I could cook almost any dish in the book - which is rare with Jamie's books, at least his earlier ones. I've already tried three recipes (and read all the other ones) and they all turned out pretty good, especially the one where I actually stuck to the recipe! ;) (I tend to improvise when I don't have the ingredients at hand and then most of the time it's nothing like the recipe... :D )

The one thing I'm not totally head of heels with is his approach to nutrition but that's mostly because I'm on a slightly different path and don't think milk is as fantastic as Jamie thinks it is, and the mantra 'as long as you eat everything in moderation, it's all good' isn't really my cup of tea either. That said, I'm no saint and LOVE my cakes and snacks... :) But all in all, every dish is balanced and there's virtually no sugar, so YAY!

For anyone new to healthy eating and home cooking, this would be a great resource.

One of my favourite food authors and I wasn't disappointed. Flew through this great new cook book by Jamie Oliver and I have quite a few recipes I want to try. Many of the recipes are whole food whilst all of them are more nutritious alternatives to favourites. This cook book will be heavily used in the coming months.

I really like Jamie Oliver cook books. I like the narrative he weaves between the recipes, and I also like stretching my cooking abilities by cooking his delicious recipes. I was excited to see his take on eating healthy. I find it difficult to eat healthfully and not get bored. The narrative is great in this book and I enjoyed reading it. I have tried out some recipes with mixed success. The breakfast oat dust is great. I made up a batch and have been eating on it for a few weeks now and really enjoy it. The same goes for the silken omelet. My breakfast popovers did not come out at all. I am sure it was my error, but it was still a disappointment. I will attempt supper next-- although some planning time will need to come my way first. It is an adventure I look forward to.

Bought this a couple of months ago and truly enjoy it. The tv series is excellent too. Very good tips, recipes, details of nutrition and good ideas complete with calorie and nutrition details per recipe. Nice ideas to take favorites and modernize them, reduce the fat content but truly increase flavor and health benefits.
There is an excellent Super Foods app too and an email newsletter that is very useful to inspirational.
Have all his books since the beginning and never lets me down if I am looking for an idea or method.

Looking forward to trying the marmite and mushroom scrambled eggs, and the gluten free protein bread. Lots of great ideas and wonderful focus on health nutritious food without all the faddishness that often accompanies any mention of 'super food' these days.

Not your usual Jamie.
I got this book as part of a subscription to Jamie Magazine, a present from my brother (very happy indeed!). I've been reading quite a lot of health conscious cookbooks ever since I had to go gluten free. A lot of these books omit gluten so recipes easily work for me. Everyday Super Food however focuses a lot on full grains. Ingredients often recur (like cottage cheese for instance) which I'm still not sure I find handy (always able to use up leftovers) or boring.
There is health info in every recipe (including why certain ingredients are good for you), and calorie counts as well. Not really my style of eating - I just want to eat good things (both as in "good for me" as well as "tastes good"). Not too much thinking about it or calorie counting please. At the back of the book there's also info on food groups and how to sleep etc. And how to become 100 years old.
Still, some interesting recipes were bookmarked, I hope some of them make it into my meal rotation.

This is a pretty good book if you are aiming at super healthy fare. It's certainly no meat-n-potatoes cookbook. I like how the nutritional information is broken down at the bottom of each page with a recipe. Also there is a time estimate to prepare the meal.

I love the photo of Jamie (page 277) standing in the water in Okinawa Japan. I don't know why, it just made me smile. Sections in the back of the book are dedicated to specific topics such as drinking and the effects of alcohol on our bodies, milk and dairy, grains and so forth.

The index if very well detailed and my only complaint is how small the font is, very hard on my eyes. Overall, I didn't see enough recipes to warrant me purchasing this cookbook. I was fortunate enough to get this copy from our local library and while there are a few recipes I have an interest in, I prefer his other cookbooks over this latest one.

Overall, I am disappointed in this book. I understand that he wanted to focus on nutrition, but the recipes come across as a little bland , aside from Oliver's ever present chilis. He also uses ingredients which, in North America at least, are only available at certain times of the year and are expensive to boot (pomegranates I am looking at you in particular).
For someone who keeps saying he wants recipes to be affordable, this certainly implies that he means only for upper middle class readers.

Great book, lovely looking recipes, fab photos, excellent explanation of Jamie's Super food ethic at the back. As always a stunning book from Mr. Oliver just wondering now if he can combine the superfood ethic with his save with Jamie recipes as for millions of us out there that want to eat well but need to do so on a tight budget.

Is great teamed up with the channel 4 series of the same name too.

Super easy to use, either by following the recipes straight up, or by adapting them to fit what you've got in your kitchen. Almost all of my favorite recipes come from this book!!!

3.5. I'd love to eat most everything in this cookbook but would probably only make a handful of the recipes regularly. Many of recipes seem just a bit too fussy to be practical for our current schedule. That being said, there are a few recipes that I could see becoming regulars in our kitchen. I can't wait to try the Earl Gray banana bread!

Oliver is probably my favorite cookbook writer - he's funny, gives the background color on most of the food, and is very creative. And recently, he's begun to give full nutritional information, and tinker around with recipes to make them healthier.

This is a superfood cookbook. In the intro, Jamie explains that since turning 40, he's examined his food choices and is generally eating more healthy. Sounds solid. And this is a good cookbook for superfoods - I found the dinner and snack chapters to be the strongest. It's just that superfood eating isn't how I eat all the time, and these recipes just weren't as exciting to me as his others. That's probably more a comment on me than Oliver, but I couldn't get excited about a lot of these dishes.

The back of the book has some really good guidance on what's in the food (fat, sugar, etc) and why we need it/what it does. He explains it clearly without dumbing it down - I found this information to be very interesting. Also, Oliver isn't preachy - this is clearly someone who likes chips and beer - so the way he explains things and talks about healthy eating is from the perspective of someone who understands why people may be resistant to this kind of eating, at least initially.

If you're trying to eat healthier in the new year, this is worth checking out. There's some solid nutritional information and some good ideas for getting more green into your diet here, without cutting back on flavor too much.

It's probably worth saying at the start that I am a big Jamie Oliver fan, so I'm unlikely to ever think something he's done is bad! However, even with that being said, this book is really very, very good.

Some of the recipes in it are just unbelievably delicious, such as "Seared turmeric chicken, houmous, peppers, couscous and greens" and "Crumbed pesto fish, roasted cherry vines, spuds and greens", but they're so healthy too! I still have lots of recipes yet to try, but those are the highlights I've discovered so far.

I would say that if you're looking for really quick, easy meals this isn't necessarily the book for you- not that the recipes are exactly hard, but the ones I've tried often have quite a few components. It is a great way of eating though- definitely the way I want to be eating, and I'd recommend it to anyone who wants healthy food that is genuinely delicious.

I LOVE this book. Jamie, you are a creative genius. I love your setup. After every recipe there is a little box with nutrition info and prep time expectations. There's a variety of choice and different flavors, all of which make eating healthier easier. i especially loved his section in the back of the book where he talks about his travels and nutrition around the world. Jamie, you'v done it again. I love this cookbook and I shall not stop until I have made (almost) everything out of it. YUM and so healthy. <3 it!

I just bought this book and couldn't be happier!!!!!
I've flipped every page and I kept going with "Ahhh!" "uhhh!" "hmm, I really need to do this!"
Everything seems amazing, full of colour, and the ingredients are all fresh, easily available, healthy and tasty! In some recipes you are offered some alternatives to favor variety and try new flavours.
Essentially, I love the philosophy Jamie's put into this book. It's definitely more than just a few fancy recipes! Just go and grab one for yourself and enjoy!!!!

This book is great if you enjoy cooking healthy. Jamie Oliver can annoy me, but this book is a real delight. I have been bored in the kitchen lately and it has really inspired me to try new things. I would say compared to his other books, this one has a very serious and professional feel. Not as much joking. It's a real health cookbook. The photography is gorgeous too. Most of the recipes are veg.

Mostly very doable recipes; instructions were clear and easy to understand.
The foods are tasty, as well ;-). Had to wait for the right season to roll around with some of the recipes, but I did establish favourites very early on: Skinny Spaghetti Carbonara, and the Caesar salad are DIVINE.
Would definitely recommend.

Portion sizes are HUGE. :)

Another great book from Jamie... this time with a healthy focus - perfect for this time of year, as respite from holiday indulgences. His infectious enthusiasm jumps off the page, and as always the recipes are simple and do-able.
Plus his books are always gorgeously designed - the photography is mouthwatering :)

What I enjoyed most about this is that the recipes are for real people who eat real food. Contrary to ingredients lists from many a recently-published cookbook, you don't have to go to a specialty store to eat a healthy diet, and Oliver makes this point beautifully. Delicious.

I like the looks of the recipes, but haven't really tried any yet. I bought this at the same time as Michael Smiths new cookbook, and prefer the looks of that one. Maybe once I try a recipe or two I will feel differently. I wouldn't say this is a "stand-out" in this category, which there are a lot in this category, so I wish it were a bit more "special".
