This book started out sweet and I was in awe of Colton I mean what a wonderful guy. Then my building blocks started to crumble.

Yes, the overall plot of the book was stunning and sweet but I lost my temper with Colton. Did he really think Charlie would just be ok with him after what went down and then to stand back NOOOOOOOOO Bloody hell if you want it go and get it my man!!!!!!!!

You let her go and now you feel sorry for yourself no shit Sherlock. Go and get your girl bla bla bla to mope for almost a year - sorry I just don't get it.

I like my Alpha males and Colton could have been an amazing alpha hottie but it just did not fly.

"Late for what?" or let me go to the ladies and see which secrets follow me and give me a hard time or a hand full of lies.)

I love detail in my books but I have to admit don't put stuff in if you are not going to go back to it. I know it sounds I'm a lunatic but it gave me a sleepless night. Charlie opened the water for the tub with bubble bath then she takes off sprinting like a lunatic but no one said who closed the taps!!!!!!!

2024 might be a rough year for reading… cuz I’m detecting a theme of forcing myself to finish old TBRs I’ve scrolled past for years wondering what would’ve possessed me to buy it in the first place. Argh! I really dislike writing negative reviews criticizing content, but this was just silly… like dumb silly.

Colton by Kelly Mooney
*contains spoilers*

Colton is about a guy named Colton (Colt) and a girl named Charlotte (Charlie). They are polar opposites. Charlie is from a blue collar family, born in New Jersey, and raised by her dad after her mom walked out. Colt is from old southern money, born in Georgia, and has parents that tolerate each other.
Charlotte moved to California after barely escaping from her ex Steve. He was the abusive controlling type. After going way too far one night she left him the next morning. Took what money she had and bought a ticket to California. After someone robbed her hotel room and stole her money she was homeless.
Colt can't take the pressure of being part of his family. His mother is a crazy woman who only cares about the family name and reputation. After another scandal Colt takes off to his condo in San Diego to get away from all the drama. He sees a girl sleeping on the back patio of the place below his. The girl being Charlotte.
After a while Colt manages to make friends with her and convinces her to stay with him. I will give the guy credit she didn't go down without a fight, she wanted to stay far away from him. Colt is drawn to her for some unknown reason. Well until he figures out she's not after his money, like he has to force her to spend any which he is far from used to, and she's beautiful inside and out.
"So much so, she takes my breath away. She’s the kind of girl who men sit down and write f*cking lyrics about. The kind of girl who can drive a man crazy with mad desire and only she can put the fire out. How did I not see that before?"
There was a time even that they had such a big blow out that Charlie left. To say she is skittish is putting it mildly. Nonetheless though Colt looked all over San Diego until her found her and brought her back home. That's when the relationship starts. When Colt realizes for the first time he's in love with her it's kind of comical:
"I’m in love with you. Holy sh*t! I’m in f*cking love."t
Colt makes the mistake of hiding things from Charlie and not fessing up before taking her home to Georgia for Christmas. That trip was the definition of a hot mess. It ended up with Cade Colt's brother putting her on a plane back to New Jersey like she asked.
At just shy of a year after she left Charlie spots Cade watching her in her local drug store. He knows her secret, she had Colt's baby and never told him. Cade went after her because he was sick of watching his brother waste away. To say Colt and Charlies reunion was pleasant would be putting it nicely.
I mean who could blame the guy? The woman he was in love with left, and now after all this time comes to him. Not only to tell him he's a father but tells him she's sorry. It takes a while but they get on the right track.
They eventually do get the HEA they both wanted and deserved. But not without lawyers, overbearing mothers, crazy exs, talk of jail time, and lots of cash spent. But it was worth it in the long run. Colt turned Charlie into a farm girl and had his own family. A family he never knew he wanted until he had them.
Plot- 3/5
Character- 3/5
Heat- 2.5/5

Title: Colton
Series: The Hadley Series
Author: Kelly Mooney
Genre: Romance

“ Without warning, the sky opens up and rain pounds down on everyone still sitting around listening. Charlie shrieks and starts to run, but I grab her hand and yank her into my arms with a spin. Our chests are pressed against one another’s, the feel of her warm skin, the swell of her breasts against me have me wanting to do more, but I settle for a dance in the rain…”

A definite page turner, I literally couldn’t put it down. I was enchanted with the characters from the very first page. Tender romance plus a dash of hot and steamy lovemaking equals the perfect love story.

This story follows the classic and timeless theme of rich, handsome playboy falls for girl from the wrong side of the tracks, but happily ever after is a bit more complicated for Colton and Charlie.
She’s running from a past that left her broken both in body and spirit.
He’s running from the life his family would have him lead.
Both of them are caught off guard when they meet, and neither one can ignore what their hearts and bodies are trying to tell them.
When the things they’re running from catch up to them, the timing couldn’t be worse, but true love really does conquer all in this modern day fairy tale.
Another installment in the Hadley series, all about Colton’s scorching hot brother, Cade, coming soon!

“My lips quiver with desperation as I arch my body to meet his, I pause, letting his breath exhale over mine. This is it. There’s no turning back now. Refusing to let any sour thoughts come between me and everything I’ve ever wanted in a man, I close the last inch and kiss him.”

Kelly Mooney has truly outdone herself with this must read romance. Will Charlie overcome her demons and allow Colton to show her what love should be? Is Colton strong enough to stand up to his family and make his own happily ever after?

Colton is book #1 in the Hadley Series, this is the first book I have read by this author and I was lucky enough to be gifted a copy of the book to read for Gemma Reads Too Much.

At the start of this book it’s suggested that Colton is a bit of a douche bag, but honest I really didn’t feel that way at all. Yes he comes across like a bit of a player but he’s never and arse about it.

I really liked Colt he was super sweet and genuinely a kind caring person, he’s definitely a spoilt brat. But by the end id even started to find that endearing.

Every woman loves a white knight and Colton was fantastic one shiny armour and all. But Charlie needed to learn to rescue herself and i don’t feel like she ever did.

Please don’t think I’m diminishing Charlie’s strength and character, I just felt like she allowed herself to be coerced into doing what people wanted and I would have loved to have seen her stand strong and proud as a woman.

I loved it when Colt got all cheeky, he had so many different sides to his personality he was incredibly likeable when he wasn’t being a brat!!

I love Cade he’s a real sweetie and i can’t wait for his book to come out.

Stephen was a great psycho but I was just waiting for him to play his hand psychos never just walk away.

There were moments in this book that were incredibly sweet, but there were also moments that were stupid and aggravating I could have screamed.

Overall this was a sweet read and gets 3.5 stars from me.

I have a new book crush and Colton is his name. It seems Colton has all the luxuries of life. Born to the right family on the right side of town, his future is bright but although Colton enjoys the spoils of his family, he craves someone to share them with. Someone who wants Colton for himself. After a betrayal by a friend, Colton packs his bags and heads to California. The only place he feels like himself. This is where he meets Charlie. Charlie was on the run from her abusive ex-boyfriend and down on her luck. I felt Charlie’s pain from the beginning and knew that Colton was the one for her but he was going to break her heart first. Just like Charlie, I did not trust anyone in this book. I kept waiting for them to betray her just like everyone else in her life had. That is what kept me reading this book until the very end. Colton and Charlie had secrets and drama to deal with before their happy ending could occur. This book was so well written and the story was amazing to follow. I cannot wait to read more from this author and from these characters.

I am floored at how much I loved this story. I really experienced a closeness to Charlie my mom was in abusive relationships two actually. And it a horrible feeling not knowing what will happen next. Everyone should have a Colt sadly my mom was divorcing her last abuser but before it was final she died. Thankfully not by him but other reasons. Charlie was a beautiful and strong young lady to go what she did and be able to not once but twice get up and move on. Colt made me mad because he could be cold towards her and it hurt my heart especially when he went away and came back. But he truly was a wonderful man who wanted to protect her such a phenomenal read. I was given this book by the author for an honest review. Sweet story about a serious situation that a lot of women face. I appreciate that it wasn't preachy but fairly real. I say, "fairly" because she lucked into a chance encounter with a rich young man. Overall, a nice story

Finally a really good book

I would recommend this book to anyone. Charlie and Colton are great characters with very different lives and pasts. They are a true love story. This book was great from front to back.

Kelly Mooney is a new author for me and I’m so glad I gave her books a chance. I loved Colt and Charlie’s story. I loved the twists and turns, which kept me flipping the pages. I read this book in one sitting, that’s how much I loved these characters. Some of the characters you will love and there will be some that you can’t stand. I wish I could have given a five star review, but this book needs to be re-edited. I have already 1-clicked Cade and Caroline’s books and I can’t wait to read them. I think this will be one of my favorite series this year.

I hate to give this book 3 stars because I truthfully enjoyed it overall. However, there were times were it would be going one way and then within a few sentences jump in a different directions. I am trying to explain this without spoiling anything, because this book is definitely worth reading. I just don't find it practical that a problem can arise and just be solved with the snap of their fingers. If you have read it then you probably know exactly what I am talking about. Hope this helps.

This kind of abrupt writing isn't my thing.

Dialogue is flat.

Reading this was torture

In the end I couldn't do it.

2.5 stars, at the most. I was really loving this book, I love the whole, hero comes in and saves the heroine from her hard life and showers her with love and understanding. However, the book lost its appeal for me when this made me angry. I understand that Colton loves her, but he forgave her too soon.

3.5 Stars

"Colton" starts off by the main male character Colt rescuing Charlotte ("Charlie"). Charlie has run away from an abusive relationship and cant turn home for he might find her so she does the only thing she can think of and travels far away. Unfortunately, it doesn't get her far especially after her motel was broken into and the stash of money she had was stolen. Now she is homeless and has taken to sleeping on a porch of a place for rent.

Colton sees her sleeping and has taken notice of the situation. He doesn't know why but he wants to help her. He takes her in allows her to shower and rest at his place. What he didn't know was how much he has taken to her. Next thing you know he is offering and convincing her to stay with him.

There are some twists in turns in the story and I don't want to give everything away but the reason for the 3.5 stars was because a big event happens where Colt and Charlie end up splitting up. Neither one of them goes looking for each other and they both seem to think they have reasons. Which is fine with me but the fact that a whole entire year goes by until the brother of Colt finds her to rekindle the relationship for them is what bothers me. A WHOLE ENTIRE YEAR!! I understand that the dramatic year and it shows that they have extremely strong feelings for each after that and still want each other but I don't think it was necessary for a year. I think it could have been a few months and the story could have taken another turn and it still could have the plot twist at the ending any such.

"Colton" is still a good story based on a rich man who didn't even realize he was looking for her when he found her.

ARC kindly provided by author in exchange for a honest review.
3.5* read.
This is the first book is this series and the first book I've read by this author.
Charlotte (Charlie) is on the run from her abusive bf and ends up in California on the back patio of a beach house that's empty but next door to Colton (Colt). Colton is a manwhore at the start of the book and from a well off family unlike Charlie who has nothing. When he meets Charlie he wants to help her and eventually after some persuading from him a friendship forms.
It was only a 3.5 * read for me because although it was sweet and enjoyable read, at times I wanted to pull my hair out at Colton and I found it really hard to connect with him at one point in this book I felt he didn't even deserve Charlie which is why it was that rating for me. Without giving to much of the plot away I did enjoy the overall story and writing style but it just needed that little bit more work for me especially when they hit that rough patch, and I needed to feel more of a connection to Colton but that's just my own personal feelings. Its hard to say exactly what I didn't like without giving a major plot part away but like i say it was a ok read for me.
I will be reading the next books in this series and am looking forward to see what happens with their stories.

Colton Hadley knows two things for sure. He's tired of being what his family expects him to be and he's tired of being wanted solely for who he is and what he can provide.

He leaves home to his private getaway place on the beach, just looking for some alone time away from his family and obligations they want to place on him and its there he finds more than quiet solitude. He finds someone he can be real with, someone he could care for deeply.

Charlotte, Charlie, has been on her own for a while, struggling to get by, but knowing she can't go back to what she left. She's found herself the perfect place to get by for now, if only she could get the neighbor to back off.

I love how Charlie threw Colton off his game, she wasn't at all like the girls he was used to, but he didn't want to give up either. He struggled to understand what it was about this girl that made him feel. He knew she wasn't what his family would want for him, but couldn't really find himself caring about that.

Of course things are not smooth and easy for Charlie and Colton, they have a lot to work through and things that seperate them on several levels, but ultimately they fit.

Colton was a sweet story that proves how love can change us and turn around our lives. How finding the right person can make us willing to do just about anything.

I fell in love with Colton and Charlie just couldnt get enough of them. They are great characters who are perfect for each other. Wonderful read by Kelly Mooney

Charlotte (Charlie) is on the run and at the lowest point in her life. Shes been with an abusive man for too long. She finally gets out jumps on a bus and doesnt look back. She ends up in California on the beach taking refuge on teh back patio of a beach house that no one is living in.

Colton is a man whore at the beginning of this book but you can also see that he has a heart of gold. He slowly tries to get Charlie to warm up to him by talking to her every once in a while but Charlie is doing her best to avoid him. eventually she gives in and takes the help Colton is offering.

Colton knows there is something different about Charlie than most girls but it takes him a while to figure it out. Just when you think Charlie and Colon are going to get a HEA someone from Colton's not so distant past makes it all crumble.

Charlie may have been a shell of a person at the beginning but she is so strong with having to handle all that has been thrown at her.

I hope to read more by Kelly in the near future and cant wait to see what becomes of Colt's brother Caden.

Charlie is just a little to timid for me, "I peer down, wondering what made her so bashful, only to note I’m sporting my typical morning wood in my boxer shorts. “Sorry,” I apologize but keep moving closer. She tenses as I brush up against her to steal a piece of bacon. “Charlie, it’s natural. It happens." The girl is a work in progress though. Colton is just so damn nice, "why? I lay in bed last night thinking about your laundry and how there was nothing there. How many panties do you have? Or what about when that time of the month hits, what then?" Colt is such a man at times, "she’s been lathering herself in this coconut lotion that I bought her when we got here, and I swear the scent alone makes me horny and crave to have her whenever I get a whiff." I loved Colt can't wait for Cade's book I love the Hadley brothers.

Colt come from money and he has more than enough money for his lifetime.... then we have Charlie who escapes from a bad relationship and ends up homeless and living on the streets...... this book follows their story... there are twists and turns... and surprises (which I didn't predict that would happen).... this is a fantastic story and I can't wait to read about other members of this family....... 5 Stars from me........

So cowboys are not my thing but i am willing to make and exception for Colton. From the start he gave one facade of his life to the outside world but inside himself we get to see who he really is and why he is rebelling against his life. Charlie has not had an easy time and you will totally understand why. She deals with her issues thanks to Colton standing by her side. He truly is her saving grace. I loved the setting for the story as well really made me get caught up in the settings due to the description. By the way Colton has a brother Cade and he is hilarious i need to hear more from him soon :)

Charlotte is at the lowest point in her life and Colt is at the point he needs a change. Charlotte is homeless just scraping by and takes refuge on a porch right next door to Colt. Soon Colt does something he's not known for he wants to help Charlotte. Soon an unlikely friendship forms and attraction grows. Things aren't all roses and sunshine because Charlotte is from a small town poorer side and Colt is from a very well off family. How is Charlotte supposed to fit in his world? Colt likes the man is is becoming, but can hold onto Charlotte? Will Charlotte's past finally catch up to her?

Colton

Good book. Colt was a bit of a man whore at first, but once he met Charlie he was a goner.

Charlie was homeless due to several incidences. Colt stepped in and helped her.

It was a sweet love story with a Cinderella touch (kinda).
