Gena D. Lutz has created a series that will entertain and enthrall you from the very first page.
This second book in the Kris Chase series starts up just a couple of weeks after the first one, for those of you who may not know that would be Created Darkly (Kris Chase Book 1).
Kris, our lovely heroine and a necromancer extraordinaire has to deal with all kinds of changes occurring in a very short time. Her grandmother, Lily, is home and doing well despite her long sojourn with the nefarious queen of the phantoms Camille, her sister is having secret meetings with their absentee mother Lizet, she is looking for a new apartment, and she no sooner goes to work when there is a ghost haunting her who needs her help stopping the evil gang that abducted her and murdered her.
Sounds pretty packed for the first part of the book right? Well, tighten your seat belt, because this was the slowest part of the book. The action kicks into overdrive and you don't even notice that you are turning the pages until the final page.
Lutz has crafted a story so action packed that your heart races as you are reading. Forget the action movies you may watch, the TV shows, Lutz has written so compellingly that you see it in your head and are left breathless.
At the end of Devil's Playground you are left with just 3 questions. The mundane, normal "What will her apartment look like after she decorates/furnishes it?" and more importantly, "What the hell is Lizet up to?". This is immediately followed by "How long until book 3 comes out????"
If this book is not on your TBR it should be, and if not, you are missing out on a tale from one of the genres newest power houses.

Devil's Playground

Devils Playground is the second book of Kris Chase series and leaves off where Created Darkly stopped. It leaves you breathless at times and enthralls you from the first page til the last. be prepared to be on the edge of your seat from the start because you will be on one hell of a ride!

Kris begins to understand more into her abilities and learns that she can do many other things then she thought before. She is one badass herione that is not afraid to get bloody. I freaking love it! she stumbles upon prehaps the most toughest of the phantoms, The Queen.

Kris has a love, Rush, that she finally realizes is her soul mate. What she has though besides her soul mate is three fine ass men that love her unconditionally. Though the love of the other two are not romantic, they would move mountains for her. Together they embark on journey's that will make you crave for more, much more! I could not put this book down. I would definately recommend this read and any book Dena has.

Her flow is writting is empecably smooth and gives you every emotion which you will be begging for more! From the dedication at the beginning of the book, all the way till the very last word, Melt With You completely took over my heart, my mind, my soul. I LOVED EVERY SECOND! Beautifully written…flawlessly told. You can feel every emotion as if you were the one living it!

What a second book to the Kris Chase Series. The story continues after the first book, Created Darkly, another fantastic read . This one grabs you in from the beginning to the end.

Kris Chase is working as a bartender as the Devil's Playground Bar because of a debt she owes. It's a vampire bar that caters to the supernatural species. Trouble comes to the bar - a murdered girl is found out back. A ghost hovers by Kris and it turns out to be the ghost of the murdered girl, Darcy. Darcy explains what happened to her. It also seems that quite a few young women are disappearing and Kris is going to find out why. She also thinks Darcy's murder is connected to the disappearances. She agrees to help Darcy find her murderers. She has her trusty vampire Rafe, gorgeous Rush and her grandmother Lily to help.

The action is incredible (had me on the edge of my chair), as is the sensual romance between Kris & Rush. Kris' powers have grown and she's not afraid to use them. She's a strong, kick ass woman who also has a good heart. This series is just awesome and I can't wait for the next one.

REVIEW
And we now have book 2 in this freaking wickedly awesome series. I love books with various paranormal creatures and boy do we get that. I also love necromancers and Kris is truly that. She owed a favor from the last book and in this book she is returning it by working at the bar for the vampire. Something is happening at first one no one knows. Rush wants to be there for his beloved but Kris would rather not have to worry. Rafe however is always there he is hers. Kris's grandmother is in on this hunt and all things transpire. Wicked fighting and demons in masses but not just demons.

I would suggest you start with book 1 in this series so you truly follow the story.
Great book!

I really enjoyed this read!! It was a fast reading, interesting book!! Loved the story line and I love the characters!! I thought I had read the first one but realized that even though I owned it on my Kindle I had not read it yet. But it stood on its own and I did not feel lost. Now I am reading the first ones. And can not wait for more!!

This is a paranormal romance with a whole lot of OH MY GOSH, muscles... muscles and more muscles. This is the second book in the Kris Chase series. It picks up where the first book Created Darkly leaves off, so I advise readers to start with Created Darkly. This book is for adults only due to some sexual content. This is a quick read that is full of action, it kept me on the edge of my seat. Kristina Chase is your perfect heroine, strong willed with a huge heart.

This is Kristina Chase (Kris's) second story. She is a necromancer, she can create vampires, along with some newly discovered powers. While repaying a obligation at the Devil’s Playground, she is paid a visit by a young exquisite ghost who has some friends {if still alive) that is going through the same horrible things she was exposed to, they need Kris's help. As always Kris is ready for action. Especially when Kris believes this might be the doings from someone in her past. Can she find the ghost's friends before its too late? Is she ready to face some enemies from her past, oh yes.... she has some new powers she want to test out!

Favorite passages:
"To call washing dishes the bane of my existence would be a gross understatement."
"I swallowed a long stream of profanities."
"It was a shy, endearing expression, one that softened her face, allowing me to see how beautiful she was underneath all the sadness, confusion, and, of course, death."
"I couldn't help it; I yelped like a Chihuahua."
"Our bond was without measure."<3
"But responsibility had a name, and it was Bit**, and I needed to learn how to handle everything that came along with dealing with her on my own."
"So keep your dangly bits covered if you're the shy type, because she's a peeper."
"It's not nice to speak ill of the dead." Rafe warned."<3
"You move, I bite."
"I clutched onto him like he was a life raft, and I was stranded in the middle of the ocean."
"She was a vampire's personal snack pack."
"I ordered only the best ingredients to soak the skin and perfume the body of my beautiful goddess."
"It was much like walking through Hell, with glowing halos hovering over their heads."
"I found myself staring into her moonlit eyes - brilliant, like cut emeralds - and a faint smile stole over me."
"The blood of the guilty stained deep."
"I counted two vampires, both scrambling within shadows, like fanged cockroaches."

I loved this continuation of the Kris Chase series. This story picks up pretty close to where the first book ended and it doesn't disappoint in the least. There is action throughout, laughs, sexy men, you name it in a paranormal romance and this one probably has it somewhere. There were some questions for me that weren't answered yet but that is what makes a good series and makes me want to read more. I loved the introduction of a few new characters and can't wait to see where the author takes them.

A couple of my favorite quotes were:
"He gave off that male chauvinist pig vibe. You know the type---Me man, you woman. Man go kill dinner. Woman stay in cave for man to hump"

"Oh, and just so you know, ghosts can be anywhere at any time, and you have an admirer, my friend. So keep your dangly bits covered if you're the shy type, because she's a peeper."

All in all a great read. The books just keep getting better and better. I will be recommending this series to anyone who loves Paranormal Romance with a different flare than the normal.

Fast Paced and Thrilling

Wonderful, intense storyline that grips the reader. Kris's mother blows in out of the blue, gleaming eyes full of ... something, wanting to share her daughter's lives again. Kris is on high alert but Torra's been keeping secrets. But, there's no time to deal with that. A phantom is on the loose ver and a troubled ghost finds Kris and she, Rafe, Rush and others must stop the murders and find more missing women. All the while, Kri's power is escalating. Great read. Can't wait for the next.

Again awesome adventures

I love Kris and Rush's relationship, they have plenty of heat together and work great as a team. Rare has a special place in my heart because he is such a great friend. The family dynamics are interesting and I am looking forward to finding out Litz's true reasoning for returning.

Kris Chase is back and badder than ever! While tending to her new job at Devil's Playground, a bar for the supernatural community, a ghost of a recently deceased girl enters. Her dead body was found outside the bar and now the police are investigating her murder, shining a not so welcomed light on the bar and it's owner Devlin, aka Devil. After hearing the young girls story, and Devil himself needing the person responsible involved in it brought forth to clear his name, Kris is on the hunt. Can Kris find the killer(s) before more innocent young women die?

It's been three years and three months since I read Created Darkly, book 1 in the Kris Chase Series, so as I got deeper into the story my mind was refreshed with the who and what's but not about how much I loved the story until Kris was knee deep in her investigation. The beginning of the story had me at a loss, and totally disconnected. Kris's family structure is odd to say the least, and I wasn't feeling their bond. Then her absentee mother appears out of the blue wanting to start a business with her daughters, umm why? For one, she ditched them when they were young and never looked back. Now she just reappears wanting to act like their mother...NO! Kris loathes her and her mother knows this, so she manipulates her youngest Torra who is only 16 years old. Lizet, (the mother) has three strikes against her right out the gate in Chapter 1 with me. Despite my feelings about the mothers actions, the entire beginning just seemed out of left field for me.

As Kris gets into her investigation, we are reminded of her creation Raphael, aka Rafe. Being a necromancer, Kris had risen him from the dead and made him a vampire...with wings! And now as they venture into this case, we learn just how deep their connection runs. Her boyfriend Rush, whom is also part of the Council, becomes jealous and pushes Kris into really thinking about where their relationship is going and how she feels for him, all while facing danger at every corner trying to find a killer. The story was dark and ugly, but I really enjoyed it! The torture, rape and murders are very present and taken seriously by all parties involved, (so if you are sensitive to these acts then this book is not for you). By the end of the story I was wowed with where the story had gone. Due to the disconnected feelings I experienced in the beginning, that brought my rating to 3 Fangs. I would have loved to give it more, but that did keep it from going any higher. However, this is a great read with the way the author built the world, and set the stage for this story to seriously be an ongoing series. I do recommend this upcoming series to all whom love dark paranormal romance stories!

Nice

A nice sequel to the first in the series, with lots of well written and fast paced action. A few odd continuity errors but not severe enough to spoil the story. Some explicit sex but it is part of the story, not the main theme.

One or the other

I like the supernatural parts. Interesting internal mythology, cool characters. At least, I did in the first book. In the first one, there was some sexual tension between Kris and Rush. Now they're non-stop sex. All the time. It interrupts the story - as in, the scene is flowing along and then we have to read about Kris getting hard nipples from thinking about Rush and his ginormous dick.
The Center is missing from the story entirely. The sister -Torrence - is being kind of a jerk. Their mom, who abandoned them to let a teenage Kris raise her sister, shows up. The ghost pops in. AND NONE OF THIS HAS ANYTHING TO DO WITH THE PLOT.
Ugh. This could've been a decent book, if the author would have just picked a story line and stuck with it - and kept the damn thing rooted in the world she created in the last book and oh, right, made the characters behave consistently between books. Done with this series, will stick author on my do not read list.

New writer for me

I was reading a compilation of stories by different authors when happened to read the first book in the necromancer series. Could not put the book down. I had to find out if there was another book by the same author which would continue from where the first story ended. Kris Chase stories are excellent! Gena D. Lutz has written two books with action, mystery, romance and even humor! I hope there is another book coming to continue Kris, Rush's and the Devil's Playground characters. Lily is a great addition to the stories!

Kris Chase is one hell of a necromancer, she just doesn't fully realize it yet. She will by then end of this book! Kris, her necromancer boyfriend Rush and her vampire creation Rafe take on some pretty nasty vampires and phantoms torturing and killing innocent young women. Her grandma Lily and ghostly best friend Jude get in on the action. Will the crew succeed or will the nasties win? Grab this book to find out. Great series!

Great Sequel

This was an excellent addition to the Kris Chase series. She was able to tie up loose ends in the second book, while still making the storyline fresh and fun. Kris is still snarky and bada** as ever, but you will see some character growth out of her in this book. I can't wait for the third installment. If you

Just gets better!

I love this series and the second book was just as good, if not better than the first! Kris and Rush make a great couple and team along with Rafe helping out when called. Kris is coming into her powers and I can't wait to see how she grows next. Rush is such a guy and I hope things progress for the two love birds!
