Jack Bryant left the Special Forces to begin his private investigation business. Pulling together like-minded men from the CIA, FBI, ATF, DEA, Border Patrol, SEALs, and police, they were devoted to the missions that no one else wanted or could solve.

When the Campus Killer strikes again, Jack’s team is tasked by the Governor to find the killer, using whatever means they can.
While following the trail of the serial killer, he becomes entangled in the life of the beautiful woman living next to his property.

Bethany Bridwell moved in with her grandmother to take over running Mountville Cabin Rentals. She had no time for the handsome, mysterious man living next door who continued to intrude into her life...and her thoughts.
>Jack battled his growing feelings for Bethany, worried his life would not allow for the white-picket-fence world she deserved. But he was unable to stay away.

When the trail of the Campus Killer strikes close to home, can Jack protect Bethany long enough to give her what she needs?

****Due to scenes of an explicit sexual nature and language that some consider crude, please be warned - for 18+ only! If you do not like alphas with heart who fall instantly in love with strong female characters while dealing with real life issues...again be warned!!*****

As an Award Winning and International Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and Kobo Best Selling Author, I have always been an avid reader. I joke that I "cut my romance teeth" on the old historical romance books. I’ve written as a hobby for over 30 years. In 2014, I finally gave in to the characters in my head pleading for their story to be told. Thus, Emma's Home was created.

My first novel, Emma's Home became an Amazon Best Seller in 3 categories within the first month of publishing. Its success was followed by the rest of the Fairfield Series and then led into the Love's Series. From there I have continued with the romantic suspense Alvarez Security Series and now the Saints Protection & Investigation Series.

My books are filled with sweet romance and hot sex; mystery, suspense, real life characters and situations. My heroes are alphas, take charge men who love the strong, independent women they fall in love with.
I worked as a counselor in a high school and have been involved in education for the past 30 years. I recently retired and now can spend more time devoted to my writing.

I have been married to a wonderfully patient man for 35 years and have 2 adult, very supportive daughters.
When writing, my dog or one of my cats will usually be found in my lap!

I love to hear from readers, so please email me!

Release me from this hell!

I wanted so badly to like this book, but it's 50% rubber duckie fluff, 40% repetitive, and 10% substance <<< That just doesn't work for me.

Plot

Serial killer has rag-tag group of ex-military and special operations dudes, called Saints Protection and Investigation, on his tail.

Jack is the owner/leader. In addition to hunting a serial killer, he has a romantic 'she's specFingTacular but doesn't fit my lifestyle' that morphs into 'I still don't do picket fences but let's see where this goes' plot going on with his neighbor, Bethany.

Jack:

She struggled, kicking and clawing, as he held her effortlessly. "Don't hurt her," she pleaded. "Settle," he barked into her ear, giving her a little shake. "No one's going to hurt her. But if you don't stop trying to kick me, I can't guarantee the same for you."

I started off liking ol' Jack; I mean being told to "settle" is kinda caveman hot. I think readers will appreciate that he's not a man'ho or an emo cracked egg.

Same with Bethany... She charges a group of armed dudes the size of football linebackers to protect her grandma and has given up her life and career to help her grandma not lose everything to Alzheimer's.

Where It Went Wrong

Everywhere, mainly:/

description

• The MCs only have two interactions up until 30%. Interactions are sparse and short. There is ZERO chemistry. Dialogue between the two is generalized and of no moment. There's no buildup or tension. By 45%, they've still only had 4 interactions, none of which are memorable or meaningful.

• Repetitive mantras and musings on their individual lives and about each thinking about the other.

• Too much mundane walking about, sitting about, eating, drinking, sleeping, secondary conversations, etc. Pure fluff.

• Too much detail and info on what supporting characters are doing, such as the serial killer briefings and meetings being page upon page upon page of asinine shit that's a given or that's not needed/wanted. This does nothing but stifle the flow, pacing, and mojo of the story with useless facts.

• Meanwhile, there's a bright red flag element linking all the serial killer targets together, which I imagine Scooby Doo himself would be able to point out, but it's barely discussed. They go on and on about a L-I-N-K between the victims and never discuss the ring finger being cut off and what that tells them profiler-wise. Go-go inspector gadget.

• Too much of the much ado. The drunk fisherman scene is perfect example. Adrenaline rush that leaves her weak and needing his strength over a simple fisticuffs fight. Give me a break, and that's not the type of chick that barrels into a group of armed linebackers. Character inconsistencies.

• Too much telling. The author tells this story through third person inner thoughts. Little is shown. Dialogue is stiff and mostly of no substance whatsoever.

Calling It Quits

This just isn't holding my interest. At this point, the serial killer, the romance, the characters...

I'm bored and frustrated with it; the author is telling me everything I don't want to hear and showing me nothing that I want to be shown. So...

When starting a new series, there is the balance between continuing with some characters from previous books, creating new scenes and characters, while staying true to my writing style. All while hoping to keep my loyal readers following me and cultivating new readers.
I feel as though I have accomplished this with Serial Love. A spin-off series, you will see a few familiar faces, but mostly be introduced to a new set of men and women to fall in love with!
It was a thrill to write a novel with a serial killer and I hope my readers enjoy the story as well.

This was a decent read, H wasn't a manwhore that was a plus, h wasn't a virgin. The mystery keep me interested. I did guess who the baddie was, but the author did throw a lot of red herrings into the story.

I look forward to the books about the other guys, though I wish I hadn't had to hear how much of a manwhore some of them were since we will eventually be getting books for them and that info will stick in my head.

I enjoyed this one!

ROUNDING TO 3.0 RATING- I just have no idea why I keep reading this author's books. She doesn't write with contractions which I'm guessing for some is not a big deal but drives me absolutely crazy. It really disturbs the entire flow of a book and overall leaves me scratching my head. Why do some authors do this? It's so painful to read! The author lures me in with her alpha hero's but this is my last read by this author.

Also, I normally don't mention covers, but hated this one enough that I had to.

It had some good moments but ultimately, the caveman attitude turned me off.

There is a fine line between protective and controlling and this dude crossed it frequently. People are allowed to look at your love interest. People are allowed to talk to them. Your love interest is allowed to have friends and make decisions on their own.

Jack Bryant is an army man through and through, he has joined the ranks as soon as he got his associate’s degree. When he resigns from the Special Forces after a long career he opens his own company, Saints Protection & Investigation. In his employment are well-trained men coming from other disciplines like the Navy Seals and the CIA. Together they work for whoever hires them, all in the name of good. Due to his work and what he has witnessed during his operations, Jack know he’s not dating material. His assignments take him away from home for days, and there’s always the possibility something can go wrong. Meeting his new neighbor Bethany makes him questioning his own reasoning.
“The way his body responded to being held against hers. The protective stance she assumed when guarding Ann. The fierce glance in her eyes that could change to one of affection when aimed at her grandmother. What would it be like to have those eyes turned on me? To harness that courage and passion.”

Bethany Bridwell has given up her life and work to take care of her aging grandmother Ann, and to run the cabins Ann and her late husband started decades ago when they just got married. She is content with her life, she spends it with the woman she cares deeply for and she enjoys her work – meeting a man and fall in love isn’t a priority for her. When her grandmother goes for one of her walks and Bethany goes after her, they come face to face with the men of Saints. After a little hostile start, Bethany feels herself attracted to Jack.
“It had been so long since she was interested in a man. Someone more than an occasional date. His rugged handsome looks drew her in, but it was his intensity that held her gaze. As though he would stop at nothing to slay my dragons. And then…nothing.”

Jack knows he isn’t relationship material – he is convinced he can’t give a woman the white picket fence – but still goes after Bethany, much to the amusement of his team. Bethany falls for him quickly, realizing he is the man she could spend her life with. Unfortunately, it takes Jack longer to come to the same conclusion, causing Bethany some heartbreak. When all of their issues are settled, the couple can start their lives together.

Besides the romance between Jack and Bethany, a major part of the book describes the Saints search for a brutal serial killer. To be honest, I like this part of the book a little better than the evolving relationship between our main couple. I already knew they would get their Happily Ever After, Maryann Jordan always gives her couples one. The killer was an unsure element, given the small insides in his mind I really wanted to know who he was, and why he killed those poor girls.

This story is written in the style Maryann Jordan is known for. It switches between POV’s quite often, but once you’re used to this form of writing it’s enjoyable and gives you an inside look in the minds of both characters without the repetition of scenes.
“I was a fool, willing to throw away a chance at what we have here outta my fear that I couldn’t concentrate on the business and have you in my life. I know now that, no matter how we work this, I want you.”

Serial Love is a typical Maryann Jordan story – a though Alpha hero, a sweet, sassy heroine, a dose of mystery and danger, and great side characters. I like this book, but because of the predictability I give it 3.5 stars.

So when I heard of this new series that Maryann Jordan was coming out with I couldn't wait. and let me tell you ladies she did not Disappoint.

I have to say I absolutely Loved this book. In Serial Love we meet Jack Brynt and his team. Jack is an EX special Ops officer that has opened his own Security Business. He is very secretive about his life and Business. He has no times for love and believes there is no place for it in his life.
That is until he meets Bethany.
Bethany is such an amazing strong beautiful Woman that was never very hard for this Strong Alpha Man to fall to his knees. I have to say there were times he would do the most amazing things and I would wanna hug him and then there were times I wanted to slap through my Kindle. I really couldn't blame him as well. The things he saw really made him believe that Bethany deserved more but for her He is all she needed. Also with a serial Killer on the lose and Jack with his team trying to track him down I also could see where he was coming from.
Ladies let me tell you that when they got together it was Damn near explosive. Their Chemistry was Smoking. I love the way they both wanted what was best for each other and worked to give the other just that.
I swear this book has to Guessing right till you get to that point and you say " Oh Damn I didn't see that coming"
I love that the twist and turns were really surprises.
Maryann has stayed true to her Beautiful way of writing with Smoking Hot Scenes, Amazing hot Alpha male that will have you swooning and Awesome Heroine.... I loved this book and everything it stands for.
Family, Friendship and Brotherhood.
I can't wait to see who is next in this series because there are some pretty Hot men we are introduced to here......

Make sure you Grab a copy because I can Honestly say you will be missing out if you Don't.

I'm not quite sure why I didn't like this one, just that I didn't. I feel like both Jack and Bethany have huge chips on their shoulders, not willing to accept any help. It didn't help that while Jack was interested in Bethany, he stayed away from her for weeks, very hot and cold, during their first meetings. In the end this one just isn't for me.

I've been itching for a good romance thriller since I finished reading all of Jennifer Armentrout's book. This was a free book on amazon today and it was, for once, a good book! Normally the free books are garbage but I really enjoyed this.

Stars Jack and Bethany, two souls that were destined to meet - both sad for different reasons, but perfect for one another. While Jack, a former navy seal and the head of Saints Protection and Investigations, is working on a case, he gets to know his new neighbor Bethany better. As the head of her own cabin business, she spends her days in customer service and evenings taking care of her elderly grandmother. She gave up her life to take care of her, but didn't plan on Jack being a part of this new life.

Meanwhile, Jack's case is hitting a little too close to home. The Campus Killer is stalking a certain type of woman and it's his job to make sure he's taken down.

Think of this as a mixture between Elle Kennedy and Jennifer Armentrout books. It was fun and I read it in a few hours. Didn't require much thought, but sucked you in.

Plus, Bethany is kick ass! I love a heroine that actually has a mind of her own.

Can't wait to read the rest of the books!

Jack Bryant has had the career he wanted for himself, now he owns Saints Protection & Investigations taking jobs others can't solve. Jack never planned on meeting Bethany Bridwell, the granddaughter of the owner of Mountville Cabin Rentals next door. Jack finds his interest peaked, but his life and career don't spell white picket fence.

Bethany is interested in Jack, but he is sending mixed messages and she is not sure she wants to put her heart out to someone who may not be willing to commit. Bethany couldn't be farther from the truth, but right now Jack is working a serial killer case that needs solved before the next victim is found.

Exciting read. I thought this was very well done, I was guessing until the end. I liked how the story unfolded and understood Jack's reasoning in the beginning of why he needed to stay away from Bethany. Look forward to more in this series.

This was as an absolutely phenomenal book. It kept me riveted from the first page until the very last. You will not get any spoilers here you will have to read the book. Jack is this strong, alpha male who protects those he works with and those he loves. Bethany is his neighbor who he develops feelings for. I love how this story kept you on the edge of your seat and how Maryann draws you into her stories and keeps you there until the very end. If you love a story with steamy romance, suspense, drama and action than this is definitely the book for you. This was the first story in the series and I can't wait to read more about these protective, alpha men.

Could NOT get into this book and had to force myself to finish it. For me, it lacked the emotional punch I was hoping for and didn't allow me to connect to the characters. It could be due to the fact that I have a Spec Ops member in the family and there's no way he'd be so "conflicted" in his relationship. He has such a high level of confidence in just about everything that he knows what he wants and doesn't waste time going after it. He put time in developing his relationship but never changed his mind about having it.

This was my first time reading Maryann Jordan and I am so glad I did. This was an interesting mystery with Jack, the head of an elite private security firm working with his team to find a serial killer in his home state. While Jack and his team dive deeper and deeper into the case he simultaneously pursues a relationship with his lovely neighbor Bethany.

Bethany is a smart, loving, feisty and independent female lead that you can't help but like. Jack is the super hot, all alpha-male sweetheart you can't help but love, even when you're annoyed with him. ;-)

I absolutely loved the way Ms. Jordan wrote about Bethany's adorable Gram's. She had a very realistic portrayal of the disease process. She described the emotional ups and downs of a close family member as they lose pieces of their loved one to this terrible disease perfectly.

Looking forward to continuing this series!

5 Stars!

When I stumbled across this author's Love series, she completely captivated me and since then, I just keep coming back. Her alpha males fight hard and love even harder. And one thing you can expect is when they fall, it is so hard that they will do anything they can for the women they love. And her heroines are always kick ass and you will always find yourself rooting for them. This is the first book in a brand new series by her that is definitely one you don't want to miss. Be prepared to swoon.

I loved this book. It was a fast read that I devoured in one sitting. From the first page, I was sucked in and couldn't put it down until the end, knowing they got their happy ending. This book was sexy, sweet, fun, intense, passionate, and had a sweet love story wrapped with suspense and tons of twists. I absolutely love the start to this new series and cannot wait for it to progress with ore of Jack's men. Get ready for Jack and Bethany... because Jack just may be your favorite alpha by her to date.

This is Jack and Bethany's story. They meet by chance but it is one that marks them for life. Bethany is living her life with her beloved grandmother and Jack is a jaded soul who wants to be alone. But he can't deny the pull he feels to Bethany. And so begins the game of cat and mouse. But will he push Bethany to far? Can he open his heart and mind to love? Can Bethany break down his walls and show him he's worth fighting for? Get ready for a love story that will keep you on your toes.

I highly recommend this book.

I could not get enough of this book, once I started it I couldn’t put it down and devoured the entire series in one weekend.

Jack Bryant is ex-special forces and he’s just opened his own security firm. He’s a very private man and has a property that’s like a fortress, or so he thinks. He and his men are meeting when they realize there has been a breach on the property, an old woman. When they approach the woman her granddaughter, Bethany, jumps into to defend her. Immediately upon meeting her Jack feels an attraction to Bethany but knows that it’s pointless to peruse a relationship in his line of work, plus Bethany isn’t too happy that he and his team were pointing guns at her grandma.

Bethany quit her well-paying job to move in with her ailing grandmother and help her with her business. She owns a group of cabins that they rent out to campers and fisherman. This property happens to be right next door to Jack’s fortress and he just can’t seem to stay away from Bethany. They begin dating and when danger comes knocking on Bethany’s door Jack is quick to come to her rescue.

I can’t wait to read the next book in the series, the team is definitely a hot group of men I can’t wait to read about!

Serial Love by Maryann Jordan

Five big swooning stars. A thriller/mystery romance that had you flipping the pages. This read had me in the edge of my chair.

Jack Bryant former Special Forces and Owner of Saints Protection & Investigations. Handsome, rugged, a born protector and a man on a mission.

Bethany Bridwell a college Grad who is helping her grandmother out at Mountville Cabins. Smart, beautiful and a real sweetheart.

These two find their way to each other. But the road there is not an easy one. There is a serial killer on the loose. Relationships are questioned. People may not appear to be who they seem to be. This read had your mind questioning everyone you read about. Will the killer be found before it's too late?

Maryann Jordan has written another stellar read! One that will stick with you long after you are done reading.

Maryann's writing is off the charts with this book. If there was any possible way to rate it higher then 5* I would.
Jacks life isn't the easiest to live being devoted completely to his job. He thought that his life could not have a constant woman in his life until he meets Bethany. While he is in deep with his current assignment trying to find a serial killer he questions on whether or not he should have a relationship with Bethany, at first he doubts it will work and then quickly changes his mind because he cannot keep her out of his thoughts.
Everything that I look for in a book was right here in this book. It keeps you enthralled with its suspenseful storyline and easy to love characters. This no doubt will have me wanting to read all of her other books. This is the second book that I read from Maryann and just like the last, it didn't disappoint.

I absolutely loved this book! Maryann has done an amazing job by writing a book that draws the reader in and keeps them wanting more. I cannot wait for the next book in this series!

Jack has busted his butt to get where he is today. After training in the Special Forces and protecting people he knew he wanted to continue that when he left the army. He now owns his own business. He never figured he would have a family and a white picket fence. His mind gets confused when he finds a woman that makes him want all of it. The only issue is how is she going to fit into his life of danger?

Bethany has moved to the outskirts of Richland to be with her Grandma a.k.a Gram. She knows her grandma's health is getting worse when she wonders off. She never expected to find a man that made her feel things she never had before. Will he be willing to take a chance and be with her?

Read to find out!

I liked the h. Sweet but still strong and independent, didn't act stupid or immature and was straight forward. H was ok but didn't like the nicknames (doll, beautifull, darling etc). Sometimes I zoned out and tried to picture him in my mind while saying or doing something and just started to laugh. Bordering on too controling.
The whole Alpha male thing-"I know best,I am in charge, do what I say", but then he would do something sweet so it was ok.
I liked the plot-idea. Could've been executed a little better.
Got a little boring. Usually I can read a book in one sitting and I won't put down a gripping book. I got to 77% and left it for 2 days over the weekend because I couldn't really be bothered.

As far as a romance go it was ok.  Not terrible and by far not the worst read I've ever read, but a little boring/predictable (even with the twists) for my taste.

I loved this book! What MaryAnn Jordan does so well is draw the reader in to the story, keeps your attention, and leaves you wanting more. Every book is fresh and interesting. Each leading man is irresistible. This book is no exception. Full of twists and turns and well written characters. Ablaze with heat and great chemistry. I am anxious to see where this series leads and for book two.

Fantastic! Bethany loves helping her Gram work and run the family cabin rentals. After meeting Jack, and his alpha tendencies, Bethany finds herself interested in this unique man. Can Jack open up to her? Will he be able to protect Bethany from his job? Will he give her the world or shatter her dreams? Maryann Jordan's Serial Love was an excellent read!

It was okay. Had some good parts.
It will it have you guessing who the serial killer is.
Likable characters.
Even though there was insta-love, there was some tense and angsty scenes between the characters.
