4 stars!!!

Elastic Hearts is a book I dropped everything to read once it hit my kindle. Claire Contreras is one of those authors for me. I will read anything this woman writes! I went in knowing this was going to be different than the other ‘hearts’ books in this series. It was a bit of forbidden love, but it was also on the lighter and sexier side!

Nicole Alessi is in the process of getting a divorce. And Victor Rueben is her lawyer. It’s a big divorce (she was married to an actor) with a lot of publicity. The last thing that can happen is Nicole and Victor getting together, but they have this crazy chemistry! Did I forget to mention that a few years ago, before Nicole got married, they had a thing? Their attraction is off the charts and it’s risky for them both…
“I’ve worked so fucking hard and this case is going to blow it all to shit. All because I need this more than I’ve needed anything else in my fucking life.”

 photo DE91E104-AB87-420E-A54C-B6503CD6F3B3_zpscwolqx3w.jpg

I loved the tension between Victor and Nicole. Watching them fight their feelings for each other. I couldn’t wait to see how things turned out between them!

I really did enjoy this one. The reason it’s a 4 and not a 5 is that although it was enjoyable and entertaining, it didn't make me feel. And I’m used to feeling when I read one of Claire’s books. For a lot of readers who like the lighter, sexier reads, I’m sure this will be a huge win for them!

If you’re looking for a fun, steamy and sweet read, pick this one up! Claire is one of my favorite writers and she never disappoints!

3.5 "GOALS" STARS

description

Claire Contreras gifts fans of the series with Victor Rueben’s story and this can in fact be read as a standalone if you are so inclined. I found the plot very original as Victor and the heroine, Nicole Alessi meet years prior and have a hot and heavy affair. This affair comes to an end when he finds out that her father is his new boss at his firm.

”There is no us, Nicole. There never was. We were friends, we had sex, but that was it. I thought that was clear.”

description

Years later and Victor is asked to represent Nicole in her highly publicized Hollywood divorce thus propelling these two back in one another’s orbits. Their attraction is just as strong as it was all those years ago and this time around Victor knows what he let slide away and Nicole is just ready to let her marriage go and find something true with someone else… until.

”There are laws against things happening between us, and I could lose my license if I break them. Do you understand that?”

description

Somewhere around the halfway point I found the story sadly dragged and I did get bored. I’m just not sure if I needed a different type of drama or just something else going on within the plot. I did like the characters and wished it would have remained more solid of a read for me than it did.

”This is what a fairy tale was like. This feeling right here. This was goals. This moment.”

I have loved this series since the first book, and ever since that one I was always intrigued by Victor. If you have read Kaleidoscope Hearts & Paper Hearts, you know just how incredible Oliver and Jensen were. Those guys made my heart just melt. So I was expecting to fall madly in love with Victor too. I mean I really liked him in the previous two books! But regretfully in his book, he came off as being more douchey than swoony.

The story seemed to move extremely slow. Things didn't start to get interesting for me until I got to the 85% mark. I never really connected to Victor and Nicole, nor did I fall in love with their story. I spent FOUR NIGHTS trying to read this book but instead kept dozing off to sleep. I swear I would start to read and then ten minutes later, I was out like a light, and then I would wake up an hour later, and repeat the process. Even tonight, I only had 9% left to read and I can't even tell you how many times I fell completely out on my couch.

I did know that this was going to be completely different from the first two books. Claire Contreras made a statement a while back that the couple in this book wasn't going to have the same history and drama that the previous two couples did. Maybe that's why it didn't work for me. There wasn't a lot of drama and angst.

I really do love Claire Contreras' writing style and think she's an amazing author. I will definitely read anything she writes in the future, I just didn't end up loving this one. It happens all the time - you're bound to have issues with at least one book a favorite author of yours writes. I will say that the last 15% was better for me and that the few schmexy scenes were SCORCHING HOT.

Don't let my take on this book deter you from giving it a try. There are tons of readers who loved it. I'm just in the minority on this one.

I leave you with my sleeping bunny.
Those of you who know me well knew the Bunny would be making an appearance. :)

Elastic Hearts is Victor's story - and the synopsis sounded fantastic. I was anxious to jump into this one. A brewing reconnection/romance between an attorney and his client, who is also the bosses daughter - I was sure I was in for a riveting read.

description

While the writing was great, I just never really found myself invested in the characters and instead of an angsty, forbidden romance - I simply found myself bored and disconnected. Don't get me wrong, it's not a bad story, just kind of middle way - nothing really stood out. Perhaps the timing was wrong for me, but I wanted more guts, more emotion, just more. Maybe, Paper Hearts spoiled me.

I love forbidden love and sneaking around, so a story about a girl falling for her divorce attorney is right up my alley. I really loved how this story was actually more than that too. Nicole and Victor actually had a fling five years prior. I call it fling because it was just sexual but more than a one night stand. Their fling may have turned into more eventually, but Victor called it quits after discovering she was the boss’s daughter.

Months later Nicole is marrying an up and coming actor. She is finally getting her happily ever after or so she thinks. Now it’s five years later and she is sitting across from the man whose rejection broke her heart. I was seriously so hooked at this point. I thought this story was going to catch fire and burn but didn't. A lot of the story Nicole is actually going through her divorce and I wanted more.

I seriously love all thing’s Claire, she has delivered some of my favorite reads. Sometimes that level of love has you setting really high expectations, at least for me. So as I was rating this one I struggled with whether this was just me. Regardless, my biggest struggle was the amount of time Victor and Nicole are actually together. So much of the story is spent focusing on her divorce and his job, I wish we had more time for just them. I wanted to feel their connection more.

Nicole and Victor are not really a second chance romance since they were never really together to begin with. I still loved the concept and the forbidden moments. I love this series and catching up with the characters from the previous books, they always make me smile. While this wasn’t my favorite in the series I couldn’t imagine not knowing the conclusion of this series I have loved so much.

This was just what I needed! So much fun, sooo off-the-charts hot, and just so...*sigh*...Victor!

Claire’s said it many times but I’ll say it again, this is different from the other books in the Heart series. Don't go in with that expectation. Victor Rueben and Nicole Alessi aren’t a second chances type romance because while they hooked up in the past,

and even though it was out of this world, that’s all it was.

There may have been a niggling something, something under the surface but neither acted on it or even really stopped to give it deep thought. It's sort of like standing outside a door that you contemplate opening but then change your mind. Life went on.

 photo EH_zpst1c6n6mk.jpg

Then five years later, their paths cross again and they’re both different: older and hopefully, wiser. This is their time but it also isn’t, as Nicole’s going through a very public divorce and Victor's her attorney.

This dance between Nicole and Victor is seductive; the want and need is palpable yet the restraint given their circumstance is frustratingly delicious!

 photo EH2_zpsf4r091t0.jpg

Victor's all that I’d hoped he’d be with his dominance, his control and his sex appeal. Damn, Claire! Girl, you did phenomenal with Victor!

“I don’t want a time limit the next time I fuck you. I don’t want a quick fuck where clothes don’t even have time to come off. I want you naked and in my bed, and trust me, I will cater to every one of your needs.”

And Nicole, I really liked her. She was strong with a heart of gold. This woman had my respect for all the crap she took and yet somehow, she held her head high and walked through it with grace and integrity. Some may think she was an idiot or push over but I think she was classy and resilient. The perfect woman for Victor.

“You make me desperate for you, Nicole,” he growled, cradling the back of my head and crashing my lips to his. “You’re fucking mine.”

I highly recommend this book! You'll be in for one sultry, sexy story!

The woman I would have to let go of if I wanted to keep my career was the same woman I didn't want to live without.

This is one of those times where I really wish that Goodreads had half stars. Because while Elastic Hearts wasn't a solid 4 star read for me, it wasn't quite a 3 star either. I enjoyed it, quite a bit in fact. There were just a few things missing that kept me from rating any higher. But let's be real, I'm also a reviewer that's stingy with my stars, so a 3.5 star read is quite favorable. I'd still happily recommend this book to any contemporary romance lover and definitely any fans of this author because she knows how to write some swoony romance.

Elastic Hearts is book three in Claire's Hearts series, yet it was very different from the previous two books. That's not a bad thing at all, but I suppose I was going into it expecting a similar amount of angst and emotion, so it caught me a bit off guard. The book is different, yes, but it stands on it's own as well. It may not be as angsty as the others, but it had it's own dose of a forbidden type allure, but I'll get to that in a bit.

You may remember first meeting Victor as Estelle's older brother and Oliver's best friend in Kaleidoscope Hearts. Now it's his turn at a HEA but it won't be an easy one. Victor is the most sought out divorce attorney in LA. He's hardworking, no entanglements sort of man and well on his way to making partner in his firm. There's just one thing he has to do before he gets that coveted promotion; handle the high profile divorce of his boss's daughter... who also happens to be the woman he had a short but highly potent fling with years ago.
I was living with last year's Sexiest Man of the Year, yet there I was, feeling things I hadn't felt in over a year. For Victor Reuben, of all people. I was so screwed.

Nicole Alessi is a successful costume designer to the stars coming off a not so successful marriage to a Hollywood golden boy. All she wants is for it to be over, but she certainly doesn't expect that man that handles her divorce to be the only man that she's never forgotten and still shares sizzling hot chemistry with. There's just one problem, as his client she's completely hands off, and that's not even mentioning her father being Victor's boss.
The man was too sexy. Too enticing. Too desirable. I wanted him. My body wanted him. Although, after that encounter, I was fairly sure my heart wouldn't survive a repeat with Victor Reuben.

Elastic Hearts was a slow burn sort of romance and Claire Contreras certainly made the burn feel so good. Victor was deliciously intense, and I loved Nicole's take-charge attitude. However, for whatever reason, it took me almost 3 days to finish this book and that's a definite change from my usual devour pace when it comes to her books. Somewhere between all the details and drama of her divorce I began to lose interest and it would take me out of the story and lose my connection with the romance. Don't get me wrong, I loved Victor and Nicole together, but I felt like they could have been so much more intense and potent if there was slightly less background noise.

I also wished that the couple quick flashbacks to Nicole and Vic of the past was further fleshed out. I wanted to experience how the met and every detail that led up to their parting ways. I felt that could have connected me to them as a couple even more. As it was, the quick flashback we got barely served a purpose. I'd have rather not had that at all or gotten a more fleshed out version of it.

My quibbles aside, this was still a wonderful read from one of my favorite authors. It may not have been my favorites, but it's impossible to please everyone. And I have a feeling this will be a hit with many readers. So give it a try and see for yourself. I can tell you one thing, Victor is a hero you need to meet. The man is definitely potent and boy the mouth on him! *fans self*

Claire Contreras is one of my favorite authors, really she is. Two of her books are my all-time favorite reads, and I will read anything she writes because I know she will deliver a unique love story that will stand out amongst the sea of generic romance books out there.

That being said, Elastic Hearts wasn’t the book for me. I didn’t really feel the connection between Nicole and Victor and I got a little bit sick of the constant will we or won’t we between them. The biggest issue for me though, was I was bored the entire time I read the book. It took me 4 days to read it, and I am someone who can pretty much read a book a day. It didn’t capture my interest.

Just because I didn’t like it doesn’t mean other people won’t love it. Obviously I am in the minority on this one. I think this love story is something many people would enjoy and love, again it just wasn’t for me.

Claire Contreras continues to pull all the right strings in her third installment of the Hearts Series. So if you read the first two book of the series, then you were taken on an emotional, heartbreaking and raw journey of love and healing. But in her newest release, Elastic Hearts,Claire took her readers on an journey that was less emotional but still had all the feels to make your hearts flutter.

photo e2f7ce6671dfb1e22a2d89cb629913_zpstbc78typ.gif “I hadn’t seen him in years, but my body remembered him well. His long hands and the way they’d gripped me. His deep chuckle and the way it had made my heart skip a beat the few times I’d heard it. The way he’d said my name, in a low, muttered, damnation that said he shouldn’t be wanting, let alone doing what we’d done, but couldn’t resist the temptation.”

Elastic Hearts had that refreshing, beautiful, sexy and slow burn romance. While the first two books were more emotional, I loved that Claire made this story light since it was truly a story of two people who knew already what they wanted in life and love. There were no games or hidden agenda. The truth was laid out there as two people tried to learn from the mistakes of their past and accept things that they cannot change. It truly was a fresh breath of air as Claire showed readers raw characters who made choices in their life...the good, the bad but these choices helped shaped them who they are today. It allowed them to see the truth, mistakes made, and rash decisions made when you are young and naive.

#ElasticHearts

Victor Reuben is L.A.’s most sought out divorce attorney. He is on his way to be made partner in his law firm. All he has to do is take the lead on this one celebrity divorce case. Sounds easy, right? Well, Victor didn’t expect to be represent Nicole Alessi, the girl that he had a fling several years ago. The girl who rocked his world. Oh did I mention that Nicole is the daughter of his boss. So yeah, Victor knew he was in trouble when Nicole Alessi walked back into his life.

photo e2f7ce6671dfb1e22a2d89cb629913_zpstbc78typ.gif “I hated the vulnerability I felt when I was near this man. I was living with last year’s Sexiest Man of the Year, yet there I was, feeling things I hadn’t felt in over a year. For Victor Reuben, of all people. I was so screwed.”

When Victor ended their fling, Nicole was heartbroken and so when an hot upcoming actor swept her away with hearts and flowers, Nicole thought she found love. But that fairytale happily ever after romance came crashing down, when infidelity and lies tore them apart. So when Nicole filed for divorce, she never expected her father to assign Victor as her legal counsel.

#EH

The sexual tension brewing between Nicole and Victor was palpable from the start. It was basically a flashing neon sign. As much as Victor wanted to finally claim Nicole as his, he knew that he couldn’t cross that line. He couldn’t risk losing his chance at partnership and law license if word got out that he mixed business with pleasure. But as he begins to spend more time with Nicole, his strength to stay away begins to falter when he begins to realize that Nicole might be the one. The one true love that is worth all the risk. So will Victor be able to face all the consequences when he puts his heart on the line?

photo e2f7ce6671dfb1e22a2d89cb629913_zpstbc78typ.gif “I felt something when I looked at you. Something weird. Something . . . not normal. I don’t know how to explain it other than maybe my soul recognized something in you. And I know you didn’t feel the same. I know what we were,” she said, giving me a pointed look. “Or what we weren’t, since you said yourself we were nothing. But I felt it every time we were together.”

I loved that Claire Contreras ended this Heart Series on a lighter note. She may not have broke your hearts with a heartbreaking story but she definitely knew all the right strings to pull to give you a love story to make your heart flutter. Elastic Hearts is a love story that was simple, pure, beautiful, and moving. So if you are looking for a story where love radiates as it shines through its kaleidoscope hearts, where words of love are written in paper hearts, and lastly where a love may stretch but never break regardless of time, place, or circumstance then I highly urge you to read Elastic Hearts.

Nicole Alessi is a costume designer going through a high profile divorce. She was married to a huge Hollywood movie star. Her father is a divorce attorney in LA, so she turns to him for help with her divorce. Her father appoints his most sought after attorney, Victor Reuben to represent her. Only the best for Nicole. The problem is Nicole & Victor had a fling five years ago before they knew he worked for her father. Victor wanted to make partner & put his career first. Nicole was just graduating and starting her career as well. Now reunited as attorney & client, they struggle to keep things professional.

-What was it about being near this guy that made me so needy for him?

-It was this man I lusted after. Always. It had been that way. From the moment I met him, I'd known I'd wanted him.

-The way his eyes caressed over me made me feel like I was slowly burning up.

-Seeing her again...it did something to me.

-"I felt something when I looked at you. Something weird. Something...not normal. I don't know how to explain it other than maybe my soul recognized something in you."

-"But I felt it every time we were together."

Victor & Nicole try to keep their intimate memories in the past, but both can't forget how explosive they were together. They both are so tempted by one another & are having trouble being in such close quarters. They are off limits to each other & it's killing them both to want someone so bad that you can't have. Victor could lose his job, & Nicole has the paparazzi following her every move.

-Fuck. This girl did things to me.

-I felt everything.

-"I need this more than I've needed anything else in my fucking life."

-"You make me desperate for you."

-"I will cater to every one of your needs."

They both try to wait to act on their feelings, but can't resist each other. Victor realizes Nicole just may be "the one." For the first time he wants something more, something real. I really enjoyed this book. Victor was delicious!!! It was another fabulous book in this series I adore! :D

"You are every goal I never knew I wanted."

I became a huge fan of Claire Contreras and this series when I read Kaleidoscope Hearts last year. By the time Paper Hearts was released, I may have graduated to stalker status. So when I heard that she's going to write a book on Victor, I was over the moon.

Elastic Hearts is the third installment of the Hearts series, and I have to say that the tone of this book is more lighthearted compared to the angst fest Claire served up in the previous two installments. This tripped me up a bit. While I did enjoy Elastic Hearts, I didn't fully get invested in Victor and Nicole's story until the second half.

Victor was an up and coming lawyer when he and Nicole met and had a brief fling together. Unfortunately, Nicole also happens to be the boss' daughter which spelled the end of their "relationship." Fast forward to years later, Nicole is about to get divorced and Victor is about to be made partner but not before being assigned as Nicole's divorce attorney.

The story gives us a brief glimpse of the past, about why nothing came about the hot fling they had. It also gave readers a lot of information about the Nicole's life after she married a Hollywood actor and their eventual divorce. I liked Nicole. She's definitely someone who owns her sexuality and isn't afraid to show it or use it to her advantage. There are moments though where I got a bit fed up with her indecisiveness. However, I did appreciate how she owned up to her faults more readily than Victor. I always felt that one of Ms. Contreras' strength as a writer is writing complicated and flawed heroines who may exasperate you but can't help rooting for. This is exactly how I felt about Nicole.

So why only 3.5 stars? Like I said, it took me a while to connect with Victor and Nicole's romance. Because Nicole's divorce was so complicated, it took a while for that area in her life to settle down, which I felt limited the romance between her and Victor. I didn't like how that conflict dragged for a bit. But I did love it when things finally moved forward for Nicole and Victor.

So while I did enjoy Elastic Hearts, this is by far my least favorite in the series. I think my expectations may have something to do with that because I loved Paper Hearts so much that it's natural that I would make comparisons to it. It didn't quite give me the emotional punch I was expecting, but nevertheless, I still liked this one.

Ok My friends this book was HOT! HOT! HOT!
description
I really enjoyed this book!It was an easy and sexy story without drama and two crazy people who wanted to rip their clothes off every chance they got but they didn't at first...
description

"You mean I finally caught the untamable Victor Reuben?"

This book was great!I loved the story line, the author and her writing! Although there were a couple of things that I obviously wouldn't mind if they didn't happen...But they did and I just had to suck it up, I mean what else can you do...Right???
description
Victor was a successful divorce attorney and 100% devoted to his job. He wouldn't risk his job for anything and that costed him a few years back and almost cost him now too...

The way I saw it, everything happened for a reason,
and we just weren't meant to happen then.

Nicole was Victor's boss's daughter, a costume designer and soon to be divorced from her famous husband who was an asshole.

"I want you naked and in my bed,and trust me I will care to every one of your needs."

I think you sense the theme here, right? Yeah you guessed it! Victor will change Nicole's personal statue from married to single, his specialty...and of course will help her with other things too...you know whatever needs a single woman have....
I know you get my point, don't you...???

description
I really liked Victor and Nicole together! They were great and their love story was the kind that if they were meant to be the universe will find a way to bring them back together! They were HOT for each other but they couldn't cross that line because Nicole was a client! And they couldn't mix business with pleasure...!But they couldn't keep their hands off for long...

"Come home with me.I'm of playing games.Come home with me,Nicole."
"Why now?"
"Because I want you too fucking much.Because the thought of you coming to
this place and hoking up with some other asshole is just too much for me to bear."
"So you want to be the asshole that takes me home?"
"More than anything."

Between Victor and Nicole I think I loved more Victor because he was more aware of his feelings even though it took him a while to realize and voice them but he didn't do things that would hurt Nicole in purpose it always was for their good. Now Nicole was another story. There were times when she was with Victor and she thought
I liked her for the most part but she was kind of immature.

"I didn't see anybody else, Nicole. All I ever saw was you."

Did I mention that their chemistry was pretty amazing...because it was!!!

"Nicole. Fucking shit, that feels so fucking good.
Oh my fucking god. Your mouth.Your fucking mouth."

description
"I should ise it to tie your fucking hands.I should blindfold you.
I shouldn't even fuck you right now."
"No.No.No.Please."
"I should make you fucking beg for it.
If I wasn't so desperate for you,I would."

I loved how jealous and possessive Victor was whenever Nicole was involved. And in the end he proved that he meant everything he said...

"I think I'm falling in love with you.And I really don't fucking want to.You probably don't even want a serious relationship right now. You probably just want to have fun.But the thought of you having fun and being like this with anybody but me...kills me."

Isn't he great...?It took him a while to face his feelings and express them but when he did, he held nothing back...He fell once and fell hard...

"You are every goal I never knew I wanted."

Enjoy!xxx

4.5 Final Goal Stars

Gah I ADORE this series, I've read them each in order. Paper Hearts has always been my favourite Jensen be still my beating heart, that being said I'm a pool of dopey eyed glue when it comes to A HOT ALPHA Lawyer, and more so when that lawyer is protective and caring underneath and that is exactly what Victor is.

So what's it about?
Nicole is Victors boss's daughter, they have some past history and split when Victors career was just starting which led to Nicole marrying a film star, which has also now led to a sticky divorce. And you got it right, Victor is the one to sort the sticky situation out but in that comes feelings and a sexual charge that seeps of the pages instantly.

 photo sexual frustraion gif_zpsvksmiuju.gif

But definitely in a good way, they want each other badly yet Victor could loose his license and everything he's worked for up to now. He's ruthless and he gets jobs done but well there's Nicole that he just can't seem to walk away from. She is also most definitely struggling with her feelings too and the feelings are mutual on both sides.

 photo 24FD0DD3-A565-4B76-B657-33C37AAA1118_zpslvzaykox.jpg

But Victor is also very protective, and you as a reader see into his thoughts and who he truly is. Not his exterior bad boy ways but that he is falling for Nicole even if they both don't see it for themselves yet.

There are a few twists along the way, some angst near the end but Claire has done what she's so good at. Telling us a heartfelt and sexy read. This one is slightly different to the other two books in this series but boy did I enjoy the ride. And I'll be forever grateful to Claire for writing this series as honestly they're beautiful love stories all in all.

I now need these paperbacks for my self lol

Enjoy Xo

I just decided to give up on this because I wasn't really feeling the story no matter how hard I tried to push myself to like it. As much as I wanted to finish Elastic Hearts, I just couldn't...

Elastic Hearts was probably my least favorite of the Hearts series. Claire's books are some of the few contemporaries that I've actually managed to sit through from beginning to end without getting pissed off at the romance or the main characters, but I think this might be the first exception I had with this author.

After completing Estelle and Mia's stories last year, I was beginning to wonder if we were even going to get Victor's happy ending. It was great to finally see him settle down since we've already seen everyone else in the gang get married and start a family.

The problem I had with this one was that it felt similar to Kaleidoscope Hearts but instead of the fell-in-love-with-my-best-friend's-little-sister storyline, we got the fell-in-love-with-the-boss's-daughter. Overall, the vibe I got while reading this was just really different. Not necessarily a bad different, just different. It lacked the emotional attachment I had with Kaleidoscope Hearts and Paper Hearts.

Aside from that, I didn't really like Nicole as much as I liked Estelle and Mia. Although she was going through this messy divorce, I didn't feel an inch of pity for her like I did with the other two girls. Maybe it was because paparazzi and celebrities were involved in the mix that took away from the reality and relatability that some readers might feel with the story.

Thirdly, I just didn't feel the spark between Victor and Nicole. To be honest, it seemed like they were horny for each other every second of the day but kept holding themselves back because of the divorce. Normally, I don't have a problem with that but there was just a lot of lovey dovey things being said about feeling so much about another person but not enough showing. I felt like their relationship was more physical than anything. Sure we get emotional development here and there but ehh I wasn't feeling it. I didn't feel the emotional connection between the two as much as I hoped I would.

Long story short, Elastic Hearts felt like just another typical romance that we all read about before but with a different title and different set of characters. It lacked the sentimentality I felt while reading Kaleidoscope Hearts and Paper Hearts. Aside from old characters being mentioned in the story, I probably never would've thought that this book was part of the same Hearts series that I fell in love with.

I'm sad to say that Elastic Hearts was a bit of a miss for me. I definitely loved the other two books but Elastic Hearts didn't even come close to how great Kaleidoscope Hearts and Paper Hearts were. :(

We hadn't really had a chance to get to know Victor very well so I was looking forward to reading his book and getting to know him better. And...with loving the first two book so much, I was really hoping this one would stack up to the others.

Well, we definitely got to know Victor and I really liked him but he's seriously intense! I wasn't really expecting it and him being oh so Alpha...Phewww!

Unfortunately, the story is just not as good as the first two and I think a lot of that had to do with Nicole. She comes off a bit of a pushover and...a nympho! I really wanted her to tell Gabe off!

I did enjoy Victor and Nicole getting together with everyone from the prior books. I loved all the teasing between everyone especially the guys. The "bet" was pretty hilarious!

I felt like the chase went on too long as well. I realize that Victor had to come to terms with things but I really wanted him to man up and be the responsible, respectful person he was trying to be.

However, it ended well and was really sweet. I'm not sure if C.C. is going to include anyone else in the series or just write something else but whatever she writes, I highly recommend reading it!

First. If you have not yet read this series, you are missing out on one of the best second chance romance series ever written. Like, in the history of second chance love stories – this up there lingering around the very tippy top of the list. Each book in the Hearts Series focuses on a couple and can be read as a standalone, but I do personally recommend always reading them in order for the full effect.

Now, for those that started this journey with KH, we’ve known Victor for some time now. We know that he’s single and is a driven attorney. A man that hasn’t really allowed himself time to fall in love. But what we never knew was that Victor had one that he let get away. He just didn’t know it at the time. Enter Nicole. A one night stand that turned into a short lived fling after he realized that her father was also his boss. Risking his career for sex was not part of the plan, but neither was her accepting his decision and getting married shortly afterwards.

But when her marriage heads south and she is in need of an attorney, Victor is given the case that will surely drive him to the edge of his control.

Holy-Hotness. Victor Reuben. Someone build this man an altar, so we can fall to our knees and worship. He was off the charts hot. All that control. All the buildup. Tension. Chemistry. That explosion of need that finally, FINALLY, happens. I thought my kindle was going to burst into flames!

Claire Contreras simply can do no wrong when it comes to telling a story. To giving her readers epic love stories. But it’s not just about the hot guy and the sex. It’s about the hope that is captured within each story she writes. These characters have been amazing and I have loved every second spent with them.

I adored the flirty banter between these two – and although part of me wanted Nicole to not have such a soft spot for her soon to be ex-husband, I sort of saw where she was coming from. Although part of me wished for her to not cave so much, but I understood it. I think that was part of the reason why I ended up loving this book so much. Because in real life, a broken relationship that has reached its end isn’t just simply over. There is no way to just cut off all feelings of love. I loved that for Nicole, she chose herself but she didn’t forget the good just because it got bad. But she didn’t fold completely. She struggled and that made it feel more real.

Claire has turned this reader into a fan. She has delivered with every release and I can’t wait to read more from her.

"I deserved better than to be somebody's dirty little secret. I deserved to be number one in somebody's life."

Elastic Hearts is the third book in the Hearts Series. Each book can be read as a stand-alone although keep in mind the characters featured in the series overlap quite a bit. Each installment of this series has pulled on my emotions and held my heart in a vise! The character driven plot is heartfelt, and each book is passionate writing at its best!

description

Nicole Alessi is a Hollywood Socialite, who has found success as a costume designer working on movie sets. Her stardom happened rather quickly when she married a famous star working on set. However, like many Hollywood couples, their marriage was short-lived. When Nicole goes to her father's law firm for help with her divorce, the past meets the present as an old fling is assigned to her case.
"I would have felt shy, had it not been for the way he looked at me, like I was the most incredible thing he'd ever seen."
description

Victor is a dominant alpha male that exudes professionalism and power. When Nicole's case is dropped on his desk, he is taken by surprise. Although the time they spent together was brief, she left an impression on him. Even after all of these years, he has tried to forget about her and yet, she is most definitely "the one that got away."
"Fuck. My. Life."
description
"So you want to be the asshole that takes me home?"
"More than anything."
Victor and Nicole have a heated past and with Nicole's divorce looming, they are forced to maintain a professional relationship. Both are attracted to one another, and the "forbidden romance" factor only increases their desire to rekindle the flame. Victor is quite stubborn and career driven. If he gives into his desires, he could loose his license and any chance at making partner at the firm. Nicole has already experienced rejection from her failed marriage and Victor's presence ignites her fears and insecurities to the extreme. The only question is, can they find a way together?
"I'd told her she was mine-pounded that into her-as if that would convince her to never doubt it."
description
"Victor didn't let me take breaks. He didn't give me time to sit up and try to please him. Instead, he propped a hand on either side of my head and pushed himself inside me."
Told in dual POV, Elastic Hearts is a deeply emotional read. The characters are quite complex, and every ounce of their emotions are explored throughout each moment. The push and pull between the two is quite intense. When Victor and Nicole come together, buttons fly, and frenzied sex takes center stage! Needless to say, IT WAS HOT! I would categorize this romance as a mature read. Both Nicole and Victor have invested so much in their careers that it takes time for them to find their way together. This factor was necessary for the plot, and yet, the pacing was slower than the standard boy meets girl romance. Claire's writing style is so unique because she captures the emotions of her characters so vividly. It is akin to watching a scene unfold before your eyes and feeling every second of it deep down in the feels!

description

Overall, Elastic Hearts was a great addition to the series. It was such a treat to re-visit some of my favorite characters from the series (ahem JENSEN and MIA), and Victor and Nicole were such endearing characters that I couldn't help but root for them the entire read. Ms. Contreras is one of my go-to authors because of her beautiful characters and well-developed plot lines. I highly recommend this series to all of my contemporary romance friends!

4 Hearts stars!

This great addition to the Hearts series is about Victor (Elle's brother from KH) and his past hook-up now celebrity client Nicole.

I have to say, it is a bit unfair that Victor has to fill the shoes of such awesome Hs such as Oliver and Jensen. But I do think he did a very good job. Whereas KH and PH were 5 star reads, I can "only" give this one 4 stars. The difference is a was more in love with the other two couples. Nothing more nothing less.

I really enjoyed the storyline, being a sucker for second chance romances and an H who realises his mistakes and chases the h. It's like catnip to a gal like me. There was a lot of back and forth between the MCs, just enough drama and angst to keep me engaged and the perfect amount of regret, apologies and swoon to keep me oohing and aahing.

Dual POV. Perfect HEA with an epilogue two years in. As a bonus, it was awesome to revisit the two previous couples!

I love Claire Contreras, but I admit this series has been a bit of a mixed bag for me. Kaleidoscope Hearts left me feeling conflicted, Paper Hearts totally rocked my world and was among my favourites of 2015 - this book fell somewhere in the middle. This one has a different feel to it than the other books in the series, it’s not as dramatic or heavy on the feels, instead it’s a lighter, sexier story with great banter and with a fantastic set up, it’s brimming with intensity from the very first page

Victor Rueben is a hot-shot divorce attorney (and is big brother to Elle from book 1). His boss has asked him to take on a big case and, if successful, he will realise his career dream and become a partner in his law firm. But things become complicated when his latest client turns out to be his boss’s daughter, the stunning Nicole Alessi, who is divorcing one of Hollywood’s hottest actors, and who also happens to be an ex-fling.

Nicole and Victor were hot as all hell together when they met 5 years previously. They only hooked up a few times, and while Nicole was keen for more, Victor didn’t want to get involved with his (then) new boss’s daughter, so he called an end to their booty calls. Nicole moved on and married a then up-and-coming actor, but her marriage has been slowly breaking apart and after having her heart broken over and over again by her cheating husband, she’s decided it’s finally time to move on.

From the moment Victor and Nicole are in the same room together, the chemistry between them is sizzling. There is very clearly an attraction between them, and though Nicole is keen to explore that, Victor tries to keep his distance… sort of.

“Nic?” he asked, his voice low and near my ear. My stomach did a flip-flop.
“Yeah?” I whispered.
“You’re going to have to learn to breathe when you’re near me. We’ll be doing this a lot.”
My head whipped toward him, and he reared back slightly to put a little distance between our faces.
“You’re unbelievable,” I said.
“So I’ve been told.”

There is flirting and bantering, lingering gazes and longer-than-appropriate touches, and underneath the lightness of their interactions, the sexual tension is brewing to epic proportions, and it's great fun watching them try to fight it for as long as they can, just waiting for them to break.

“I want you,” he said. I gasped as his fingers dug into my flesh. “I want you and I can’t have you if I keep working for you.”
“Says who?” I asked, surprised my voice was loud enough for him to hear me.
“I’ve worked so fucking hard and this case is going to blow it all to shit,” he said, inching his face closer to mine. I stopped breathing. “All because I need this more than I’ve needed anything else in my fucking life.”

“Do you do this much for all of your clients?” I asked…
“I think you know I don’t,” he whispered, still holding my face. “And I think you know this has passed the client boundary by now.”

Oh holy hell, these two are hot together. The flirting, touching and foreplay is hot enough, when they actually get together, it’s explosive!

“You make me desperate for you, Nicole,” he growled, cradling the back of my head and crashing my lips to his. “You’re fucking mine.”

But as hot as they are together, to me it felt like the emotional connection was missing. I could definitely feel their chemistry and it built really well, but even as they spent time together and really got to know each other more, their attraction felt more physical than emotional.

And my feelings about the two of them together weren’t helped by the unecessary drama caused by their stupid behaviour and miscommunication, all of which left me frustrated and pissed off with the both of them. The drama with Nicole's ex, which initially a nice twist, went on for too long, and then... . I thought that they both handled the situation badly, making stupid decisions that weren’t necessary, and it all would have been fine if they just talked to each other!

But then, when they do eventually talk, I just wanted to smack them.

But I must say, I really liked the way it was all resolved. I love how Victor took charge and stood up for what he wanted, and I actually cheered out loud at one point… now if he’d only done that in the first place, all of the stupid could have been avoided!

The story ends well, giving us glimpses of Nicole and Victor together and happy and I finally felt the romance, it just came a little later than I would have liked.

“Are you mine and no one else’s?”
He smiled, caressing my face with his thumb as he brought his lips down to mine. “Always yours. I was never anybody else’s.”

Fans of the series will enjoy catching up with Elle and Oliver, and Jensen and Mia, and though this book does form part of a series, it could be read as a standalone as well.

But even though it was frustrating at times, I did enjoy this book, I just didn’t love it as much as I was hoping.

3.5 stars.

I loved the premise of this, and when I first dived in, I was really excited about Nicole and Victor's story. But...it just didn't work for me. There are plenty of parts that I really enjoyed, but by the end this whole thing started feeling like a telenovela. I was just over the unnecessary drama. What should've been angsty just was annoying at the end. Nonetheless, I'm so excited that I FINALLY go to this series! I will definitely be re reading Paper Hearts in the future and checking out more by Claire.

I loved this book hard !
It's so different from everything Claire has written before and just any other book she wrote she nailed it to perfection . Only this one was on the highest hotness scale as to any other book of hers . You would think it'll be another awesome book in the same logic of the series but I promise you IT IS NOT .
First off, Victor "holy hotness batman" is the hottest and most dominant , brooding/ass*ole/jerk of Claire's heroes. He had me at the prologue ! He was so hell bent on his carreer and has his priorities so neatly set up that it was so gratifying seeing him fell off his high and mighty chair right into Nicole's hands .
Nicole , I loved her from the beginning , she is sassy , knows what she wants and goes for it . Again it's nothing like other Claire's heroines . She is unique in her own way and owns her shit and I loved her for that .
I loved the story and the progression it was so very well written like any other Claire contreras book . Her writing is truly exquisite and beautiful and poetic . It's like good chocolate you want to shove it into you mouth so bad and still want to Savor it !
I couldn't put it down . I stayed up late just to see where the story goes and how far was victor is going to go to get his girl back . And boy he DID some serious moves and I was like WHOA ! Jerk has turned out to be so whipped and even made me fall for him without loosing that sexy hot defiance thing he has going on .

Loves loves this book .
Claire outdid herself in this one .

Firstly, this is nothing like the previous books in this series and this book concentrates on Victor Reuben and Nicole Alessi. Victor was the lawyer and I have to say I adored him and his hot, alpha, jealous tendencies, he really made this book. Nicole Alessi was Victor's bosses daughter but she was married to an actor, but Nicole and Victor had been intimate before him. To Victor, Nicole was the one that got away and now having been asked to deal with her divorce Victor's morals are tested to the max.

The beginning and the end I loved, however for me, the middle dragged and I found myself losing interest and putting the book aside, it just didn't grab my attention unfortunately. However, I did finish and loved how it ended. I am a sucker for a good second chance love story.

Angsty. Sexy. Addictive. Elastic Hearts is an unputdownable page turner that had me unable to think about reading another book for days after I finished. I'm such a huge fan of this author and this series is my absolute favorite from her. But Elastic Hearts is different. It's not a second chance love story like KH and PH. There's no deep rooted history to navigate through between Victor and Nicole. It's refreshing and different and emotional, but still fits this series' message about true love and patience and soul mates so perfectly.

I won't go into plot details because READ.THE.BOOK. I'll just tell you that the angst and longing and the emotional roller coaster ride in this book is at an epic high. But this book is funny. Contreras crafts these smart characters with such captivating personalities. They're both struggling with what they feel for each other, with what they might have felt briefly a long time ago but never acted on, but they're also sarcastic and funny and relatable and real. You'll remember Nicole and Victor and this journey long after the turn of the last page.

Elastic Hearts is the perfect name for this book. Yes, this romance tugs and stretches and pulls at your heart strings, but it fits this story in ways you'll only understand once you read it. This story is steamy and sensual and the burn is perfectly painstaking. This is a forbidden romance with an element of fame and celebrity mixed in. Elastic Hearts is just so good and so Claire Contreras and so fresh and original and new and so so so unforgettable. Another must read from this author.
