Dog Collar Couture

Rate this book
Mafia princess turned canine couturier Lucie Rizzo knows dogs are woman’s best friend. Thanks to her fashion-forward four-legged clients, Lucie’s dog walking/designer pet accessory business is booming. And for once her love life isn’t far behind.

Lucie devotes her days to building the Coco Barknell brand, but her nights are all about roguishly sexy Tim O’Brien. At least they will be if she and Detective O’Hottie finally take their relationship to the next level. But bring an Irish cop home to her mobster father? Fuggetaboutit.

Lucie’s knack for finding trouble lands her in the doghouse—and on the six o’clock news. Someone’s absconded with a million-dollar piece of cinematic costume history, with Lucie the only witness to the crime. Not to mention the prime suspect. To clear her name, she’ll need an assist from her entire wacky crew: friends, family… and future (hopefully) lover.

Lucie can’t stay out of trouble even when she tries. She’s an inadvertent witness to a robbery while walking one of her clients. Due to being a Rizzo, certain law enforcement types immediately thinks she’s a suspect in the theft. This adventure sees some growth in Lucie, she faces some hard truth from her best friend Ro about her tendency to fall back on the excuse of being the “mob princess” as the source of her issues when things get rough or wanting to run. Her relationship with Tim sakes a big step forward but boy does Tim deserve sainthood dealing with the Rizzo family and Ro 😂😂😂. Overall, a good mystery, with a quirky, zany family and a sane cop trying to hold on.

Lucie is a suspect in the theft of a famous peacock dress.

What I enjoyed:
* I like Lucie and Tim. They work even though she is a mob princess and he is a cop.
* Lucie's dad trying to spend time with her is sweet

What could have been better:
* Wasn't much of a mystery and they solved it by luck and the villains being dumb
* Lucie needs more self confidence

Lucie and company have done it again...brought laugh out loud merriment to the next installment of the Dog Collar series. The whip smart dialogue and witty banter grabs you from the first paragraph and keeps you engaged through the entire story.

Ms Giordano has a clever way of creating such engaging characters that just keep getting better and better with each new book. The relationship between Lucie and Tim is swoon worthy in how they compliment each other so well. Their chemistry nearly jumps off the page, where you find yourself cheering them in both their emotional and physical relationship. Even though the author is not graphic in the physical relationship between the couples, she still has a way of capturing the full impact of them coming together.

I look so very forward to more stories of Lucie and crew...I know I'll always be very much entertained and will find myself laughing out loud spontaneously.

I was pulled right into this story. The story has laughs, suspense, and heartbreak.

If you have not already read the below I would recommend reading those books first:
Dog Collar Crime (Lucie Rizzo Mystery, #1)
Dog Collar Knockoff (Lucie Rizzo Mystery, #2)

This is more of Lucie's story. Lucie is trying to live her life and take care of her business. But the more she tries to stay out of trouble the more trouble finds her. She can't tell her father about her boyfriend so how can she be with him? When she ends up on the news and as the main suspect will she be able to clear her name? Lots of mystery and a little bit of suspense for this story.

I felt I was able to connect with the characters and the story was a great read.

I recommend this book.

In the third installment of the Lucie Rizzo Mystery series, Lucie and her "dream team" are on the hunt to clear Lucie's name in a recent robbery. Not only does her team include her boyfriend, Irish Detective Tim O'Brien, but also her Italian mob boss father Joe Rizzo. And you can forget about the hilarious couple that is Roseanne (Better known as Ro, Lucie's best friend) and Joey (Lucie's brother). As always, Lucie is in the wrong place at the wrong time and because of that, hilarity ensues.

Dog Collar Couture is a quick, fun read with a few twists.

This is such a fun loving cozy mystery! I loved every minute of it and hated to see it end.
Lucie seems to end up in the wrong place at the wrong time while out walking one of her dogs. Of course she gets accused of stealing this priceless dress. Lucie can't stand being accused of something she did not do and it would be bad for her business she is trying to get started. So Lucie must find who stole the dress and of course wherever Lucie goes trouble follows. Now she is involved with Mr. Hottie(Tim the cop). What a combo Mafia Boss's princess daughter and a cop. Read the book today for a fun loving adventure!

A Peacock dress, a movie memorabilia has been stolen!!
Lucie Rizzo was dog walking near the location of the theft

This calls for action to clear Lucie’s name. Her faithful
crew of Roseanne ( Lucie’s best friend), Joey (Lucie’s

Another great light hearted story in the Lucie Rizzo Mystery Series.

Poor Lucie has a bad habit of being in the wrong place at the wrong time; something that drives her detective boyfriend, Tim “O’Hottie” O’Brien nuts. In this case Lucie is walking one of her client’s dogs past a museum when the manager of the museum stops to speak with her and pet the dog. When Lucie continues walking the dog around the block, the dog spots a colorful peacock feather. Thinking the colors beautiful Lucie picks up the feather and takes it back to the shop for Ro to design something for their Dog Fashion Line. What Lucie doesn’t know is that the feather fell off an expensive dress that had just been stolen from the museum. When surveillance cameras spot Lucie outside the museum at the time of the theft, she becomes a suspect. When the cops come to call on her, with boyfriend Tim is tow, they spot the rare feather on the desk. (Of course Lucie being Mob Boss Rizzo’s daughter doesn’t help her proclaiming her innocence).

Then the fun begins. Lucie, Ro, and Joey set out to clear Lucie of the crime and find the dress. The gang get into some of the craziest and funny situations with poor Tim caught in the middle more times than he’d like. This is a great light hearted story that will have you smiling and laughing the entire time. If you enjoy a fun, zany story with romance thrown in, you love the Lucie Rizzo Mystery series. 2 Thumbs Up!!!

OH McHottie!! What a caper we have this time! Lucie Rizzo has found her way into trouble again. It’s up to her and her friends to clear her name before she loses clients and her business. With capers and antics along the way, Lucie may end up losing McHottie, her newest love interest. Along the way Lucie and her friends, are helped by her just sprung from jail Mob Boss father and his pals.

I really enjoyed the flow of the story. I have been with Lucie since she started Coco Barknel as just a dog walking company in the first of this series. Lucie really seemed to burst from the pages and blossom in this book. She learned how to make a better relationship with her dad, because a dad will always be a dad. Lucie is taking mature strides with her Irish cop boyfriend, Tim “McHottie”.

In addition to a great, who dun it style mystery that Lucie and the gang has to solve, there are real family issues that are dealt with naturally and tactfully. It was great to see Lucie and Tim resolving issues and seeing both sides of each others problems. And Lucie and her dad was just sweet, knowing that Mr. Rizzo the Mob Boss is still just a dad too. While this is part of a series, it can be read as a stand alone.

I absolutely love every book in this series. Boosted is fun and awesome. The characters are great and the relationships take this book to the top. Adrienne Giordano is one of those authors who knows how to make characters feel real enough that the reader feels like he or she really knows them. Lucie's life seems to be balancing out now that her dad is out of prison although she is seriously worried about bringing him together with the love of her life who happens to be a Chicago homicide detective. It isn't long before that very confrontation happens when she becomes a suspect in the theft of a million dollar dress. Being the daughter of a mob boss is bad enough, but being in possession of one of the feathers off of the double-eye peacock dress is enough to make her number one on that list. It also means that Tim has to let his lieutenant know that they are dating. I adore Tim and Lucie's best friend Ro as well has her brother, even if he is a bookie.

I purchased and read a copy of the book under its original title. Dog Collar Couture.

Boosted, Lucie Rizzo Mystery #3
by Adrienne Giordano

This was such a fun read. I read books 1-3 about a year ago and just now got around to returning to the series. I'd forgotten what crazy fun reading about Lucie, who is fiercely determined to live a normal life, although she is the daughter of a well-known mob boss. Between her complicated family life (mother, father and brother, Joey), her best friend and business partner, the wild and wonderful Roseanne, her new love interest, Officer O'Hottie (Tim O'Brien), and the rest of the colorful characters, human and canine, that populate her life, Lucie is never bored, that's for sure.

Giordano's proofing and editing were excellent. Her plotting and pacing stellar, her characterizations fully fleshed and believable, and there is action all along the way, concluding with the dramatically hilarious Cock Head convention scenes that make up the climax of this adventure.

Do yourself a favor and read this series. Start with book 1.

The Lucie Rizzo Mysteries are my favorite series! I love the laugh out loud moments as Lucie and Ro go undercover to try to solve the latest mystery. Detective Tim O'Hottie and Joey do their best to keep the girls safely away from trouble, but Lucie's and Ro's antics drive them crazy.

In Boosted (formerly Dog Collar Couture), the relationship between Lucie and her detective boyfriend heats up. Dating the mob boss's daughter definitely keeps things interesting for Tim. He is the perfect addition to this wacky family. I highly recommend this series!

Boosted is a fast pace, funny and suspenseful story that will leave you wanting more. Lucie has a knack of being in the wrong place at the wrong time, and this time she will need the assistance of everyone she trusts (yes, including her mob boss father) to clear her name and solve the mystery of a major heist that she was accused of being involved in all because of a feather she found while walking a client.

The fur and feathers fly in the third installment of the Lucie Rizzo series by Adrienne Giordano. Poor Lucie seems to attract trouble. More than anything, she wants to be viewed as a legitimate businesswoman. Much to her frustration, she continues to be tainted by the criminal reputation that clings to her family, namely her father, who is home from prison. This time, the trouble comes when Lucie innocently picks up a stunning peacock feather she finds while out walking one of her canine pals. She sees an opportunity for accessories and color coordination – she doesn’t realize she has stumbled upon a critical piece of evidence in an armed robbery and the theft of a valuable dress made with extremely rare double-eyed peacock feathers. Lucie’s possession of the feather puts her right in the sights of an ambitious and suspicious detective who is convinced that Lucie is following in her father’s criminal footsteps. Fortunately, Lucie’s love interest, ultra-sexy detective Tim O’Brien, isn’t so easily swayed by the circumstantial evidence. Lucie and her best friend concoct an improbable scheme to prove her innocence and flush out the real thief, and she finds things getting increasingly complicated as she tries to do this while keeping her family life separate from her romantic life.
Speaking of romance, Ms. Giordano doesn’t disappoint as the sparks that started in the first book between Lucie and Tim, really start to smolder in her second book, and finally burst into flames in this one. Lucie realizes she is completely ready to move on from her longtime love, Frankie, and take her relationship with Tim to the next level. Now she just needs to figure out how to break the news to her father, a reputed mob boss who has stubbornly clung to the idea that Lucie and Frankie would someday get married; add to that the complication that Mr. Rizzo has an inherent distrust of the police, and Lucie knows she has her work cut out for her to convince her dad that Tim is the man she loves…provided she can prove she didn’t steal the iconic dress and end up spending several years in prison.
This is another fantastic read by Ms. Giordano. The characters are extremely likable, the dialogue is clever, and the storyline moves along well. As is typical when I read one of Ms. Giordano’s books, I finish it and am eager to see what she dreams up next for her colorful, eccentric characters.

Lucie Rizzo and her best friend Ro own a dog business where they sell clothes and various items for dogs as well as walk dogs for people. Lucie is walking a dog one day and a woman that works at the auction house she is standing by stops to talk to her. After she starts walking the dog again, she notices a peacock feather on the ground and picks it up and takes it back to the office. She knows Ro can do some kind of design with the colors or feathers. That evening Lucie is home with her mother and father. Her father just got out of prison for tax evasion. He is a mob boss and Lucie hates what he does for a living. The ironic thing is that she is dating an Irish cop named Tim O’Brien. She has been dating him for awhile, but they have been taking it slow as Tim wants to make sure that Lucie really wants to make a go of it with him. I digress, Lucie sees on the evening news that a dress was stolen from the auction house she was at that day at about the same time she was there. The stolen dress had peacock feathers on it. Lucie is meeting Tim downtown and soon after they meet, Tim gets a call and has to leave. Lucie knew she should have told him about her being by the auction house, but she didn’t have time.

The next morning a detective comes into her office with Tim and starts asking questions about her being at the auction house. There were cameras at the auction house that caught her walking by. Of course the detective thinks she has something to do with the robbery since her last name is Rizzo. Lucie can tell that Tim is upset with her since she didn’t tell him about being at the scene of the crime last night. You need to read the story to see all the crazy predicaments that Lucie and Ro get into. The story is funny at times. I love Lucie’s crazy personality. Tim is such a great guy too and all he puts up with Lucie. I loved the story and can’t wait for the next book to come out. I was given a copy of the book for an honest review.

This was a very fun read with Lucie, Ro, and Joey are back trying to prove that Lucie was in the wrong place at the wrong time and not an accomplice in the theft of dress from the auction house. Tim Lucie new boyfriend who is a Detective is trying to help without compromising the case or lose his job. Lucie’s father who is out of prison puts her in a tight spot trying to stay away from him so they do not think she is in with the mob and getting their help which would make it look like she really did steal the dress. Lucie really wants the relationship with Tim to work but with him being a cop and she just can’t seem to stay out of trouble she just does not see that is this going to work.

When she stops to chat with a women and the next thing she knows she is being accused of stealing a dress. Lucie doesn’t want to put Tim in a bad position it isn’t right to make him choose between her and his job. Now her friends and she are on the hunt to clear her name and keeping Tim from getting to involved as much as they can.

Just wait until you get to the scene when Irish Detective Tim and Lucie’s father Joe the Italian mob boss meets for the first time. Joe is in shock that his daughter could be dating a police man. Tim doesn’t seem to have much trouble with whom or what her father is. This was a very funny time in the story.

The author gives you a very funny read with wonderful characters on the hunt to solve the mystery of which what and why to get Lucie off the hook and bring the thefts to justice. This is one series that will have you laughing out loud at all the trouble these characters get into. She gives you just the right amount of romance with a wonderful mystery that unfolds into a very humors read. I can’t wait for the next book in this series.

Dog Collar Couture by Adrienne Giordano

Lucie Rizzo is once again accused of being involved with a theft. All because her father is a mob boss. Lucie has her own, legitimate, dog walking and accessory business, but that doesn't stop the police and others believing she's up to something. Except Tim. He's the cop that knows Lucie really well since they're dating. Lucie, believing she's protecting Tim and his job, doesn't always share what's going on. Big mistake. Lucie and BFF Ro investigate and the resulting antics are funny and surprisingly effective.

A fast moving and humorous mystery. Third in the series. Can stand alone.
I like the growing relationship between Lucie and Tim but really appreciate the friendship between Ro and Lucie. They've been friends for twenty years and can be brutally honest with each other. At one point, Ro tells Lucie to basically "get over it" with the mob princess obsession. It's a great conversation.

Excerpt:
“She sat forward, met Mr. Edwards's gaze. "Well, Mr. Edwards, that just makes the challenge more fun now doesn't it?"
"That it does. And it's Eric. Drop the mister part."
Lucie saluted. Saluting? She was on a roll today. "You got it. What's the plan? We need to flush this creep out."
Another grin drifted across Mr. Edw—Eric's face and he propped his arms on the desktop. "If you're up for it, I think we should call his bluff. Tell him we'll give him the money."
Humina-wha? Where would she get ten thousand dollars? Lucie’s head fell forward, her shoulders slumping with it.”
Excerpt From: Giordano, Adrienne. “Dog Collar Couture (ARC).” SilverHart Publishing.

Dog Collar Couture is the third book in Adrienne Giordano’s Lucie Rizzo mystery series. I think this series just gets better and better with each new story. Lucie, her best friend Ro, and her brother Joey are back this time trying to prove that Lucie was only in the wrong place at the wrong time and not an accomplice in the theft on an iconic dress from an auction house.

Lucie’s new boyfriend Detective Tim O’Brien, aka Detective O’Hottie is in a difficult spot as he tries to help Lucie out without compromising the case or his job. Now that Lucie’s father is out of prison, she tries to have Joey help keep him away from anything Lucie is involved in so she isn’t accused of taking help from the mob. I definitely couldn’t wait to see what was going to happen when Irish Detective Tim and Lucie’s Italian mob boss dad, Joe Rizzo, met for the first time. Joe couldn’t believe his daughter was dating a cop, but Tim has no problem with Lucie’s mobster dad and is even so bold as to turn up at the Rizzo household during dinnertime.

Ms. Giordano definitely has a hit with this light-hearted mystery series which provides the whole package of a fun storyline that will have you laughing out loud, a great cast of characters along with their crazy antics, a mystery that needs solving along with a little bit of romance for good measure. I definitely can’t wait for the next Dog Collar mystery.

Hilarious! This book had me laughing on almost every single page. Adrienne Giordano has a magnificent cast of characters in this series, and the situations she puts them through are unique and highly entertaining, to say the least. Is it weird that I feel like Lucie Rizzo is one of my best friends? Her relationships with her friends and family are written so well, that I can't help but feel like I am a part of the group. Plus, they have so much fun, who wouldn't want to be a part of this team? I find them irresistible. Lucie and Tim are the cutest couple, and Joey and Ro are awesome too! This is my favorite Lucie Rizzo book so far. The mystery and the story was strong, and the humor was off the charts. Let me just say that the convention and everything that happened there was hysterical. Kudos to Adrienne Giordano for being able to put hilarity in just about every aspect of the story. I think books this funny are a perfect escape from everyday life. It was captivating while I was reading it, and I have a feeling it will be bringing smiles to my face for a long time. I will think about it every time I see a peacock feather, and I will probably chuckle whenever I am walking down a hotel hallway as I envision Lucie...taking control of a situation. I don't want to give anything away. If you are looking for something fun, definitely give this one a try. I received this book in exchange for an honest review.

Another fun read from this series!

Poor Lucie--once again in the wrong place at the wrong time--or is it lucky Lucie? Sometimes it seems that the crimes she gets herself inadvertently involved in are almost less complicated than her own life--her mob boss father's back from jail, her new (maybe?) boyfriend's an Irish cop, her best friend is getting hot and heavy with Lucie's brother--a stolen couture dress almost seems like a minor detail...

Except that Lucie is a possible witness/possible suspect, and once again, having the Rizzo name could be a problem.

But this time she has Tim O'Brien/O'Hottie firmly on her side. And they're about to go public...maybe (squeee! And maybe do even more. Finally!). And Lucie might just throw herself into solving the crime with a bit more enthusiasm than Tim can handle
"It was a random thing. We didn't start it. We were just in the wrong place."

"At the wrong time. I know. That happens a lot."

She scrunched her nose and growled--growled--at him.

So damned cute. And infuriating. The two sides of Lucie. Killing him.
Yeah, something tells me he'd better get used to it, because I'm seriously hoping this series is just getting started!

So. Much. Fun!
