If you read my review of Eternal Darkness, then you will know that I am a huge fangirl of not only this series, but of J.F Johns in general (honestly, if you know Jaz personally, consider yourself very lucky. She is one of the sweetest, loveliest and most talented internet friends I have ever made and she should be protected at all costs). After I finished Eternal Darkness, I was hungry for more, so I quickly headed over to Amazon and bought myself a copy of the novella, Cyborg Tales.

In my review of Eternal Darkness I mentioned that I thought the characters were
"incredibly well developed...100% believable and loveable (in their own special way)"
and although we got to learn a lot about Scarlet, my favourite side characters such as Eric Thorn (swoon!), Sam Harris and Madeline Smith had a little more mystery surrounding them. Cyborg Tales is a brilliant addition to the series (because let's be honest, not all novellas are beneficial to the telling of the main story, it can feel like a money making scheme sometimes), and it really increased my love for these minor characters, as well as escalate my excitement for the rest of the trilogy!

Okay, so I've talked a big game, but what makes Cyborg Tales so special? Well, not only do we get to spend more time getting to know Eric Thorn (because, let's be honest, that's why we're all here... amirite ladies?), and other characters such as Sam and Charlotte, but we're also getting a deeper look into the world that they inhibit, and the rules that they have to live by.

The novellas is separated into six short stories about six characters: Eric Thorn, Lisa Vanderbell, Sam Harris, Madeline Smith, Rory Patterson and Charlotte Yin. I absolutely loved every single one of these short stories, they really captured the heart of the character, and made me fall even more in love with each of them. It also shocked me how some of them were treated, I was on the verge of tears a couple of times throughout the book, but especially during Sam and Charlotte's stories.

My favourite story, however, was that of Sam Harris. Although I love Eric to pieces, I feel like Sam is a really loveable and undervalued character. The story of how he became a cyborg, as well as the breakdown of his marriage, really tugged at my heartstrings, and I was on the verge of tears at the very end. How dare anyone treat my Sam that way!

Eric Thorn's story was brilliant, and if you are on #TeamEric like myself, then you are going to thoroughly enjoy learning more about his character and life before he became a cyborg.

Although I've focused on Sam and Eric, you must know that every single one of these stories are brilliant, and a brilliant addition to the series. They really help you understand the characters that we loved so much in Eternal Darkness, and their individual storylines were very gripping and heartbreaking. So, if you are a fan of Eternal Darkness and want to satisfy your hunger for more content while you wait for book two to be released, then please, read the Cyborg Tales. You won't be disappointed!

I read Eternal Darkness last year and was blown away with the characters and the story. The whole concept of this series is just so awesome that I can not believe a human mind thought of it all! Maybe J.F. Johns is secretly a cyborg? Hmm.

Cyborg tales is a very short novella about a few characters and how they became cyborgs! We get to hear stories from Sam, Lisa, Rory, Eric, Madeleine, and Charlotte. All 6 of these characters have totally different reasons for wanting to go to this mysterious place that can supposedly cure any illness! But can this place actually help them? Does this place actually have the cure? Or do they have other intentions for these patients? If only the characters knew that their lives would never be the same when they woke up in that place.

It was awesome to get back into John's world and revisit her characters. It definitely got me all excited and ready for the next book to be released! If science, cyborgs, and books in general are your thing, then you need to pick up the first book in this series! This is a series you definitely do not want to miss out on.

This is a novella, therefore, it is a very short read BUT that doesn't make it boring or lame, in fact it was really really awesome. You know when sometimes you met a character and you wonder: "Why is he/she like that?" That's exactly what Cyborg Tales explain to us readers. If you have read Eternal Darkness, you ought to know that there a lot of cyborgs. This novella shows us how were some of those cyborgs, and the problems they dealt with, when they were humans. It was fantastic and shocking to see the stories because every character is broken in their own way and you can't see why they're like that in the first book, at least not with details. Cyborg Tales is a book that all of those Eternal Darkness readers should pick up to understand a little bit more of the characters. It was short, sad, because the stories are indeed heartbreaking, and amazing.

They're cyborgs. They weren't always.

I received a free copy of this book from the author.
This is my honest opinion.
I enjoyed the first book of this series, Eternal Darkness. I especially loved the characters and I was so happy when the author offered me Cyborg Tales as it's a 6 short stories of the main characters and how they became cyborgs. It's very interesting to see how they became what they did, and how their personalities change because of it. I loved Madeleine's story (she's my favourite pewrson from the book) and her short story really made me cry.
I wish it were longer but then again I feel as though it would lose its magic!
Can't wait for the second book in this series!
