This is an intriguing book I will admit I have seen a number of times but until it was up for sale, never really took a closer look - how surprised was I is all I can say.
The book consists of full page (and they are impressive especially considering the size of the book itself) pieces of art reflecting the major episodes from each of the series (it does not cover the film franchise) of the Next Generation.
I find it interesting in that Juan Ortiz goes out of his way stress these are not retro or in fact to accept any one specific label - which I get but you have to say there is a definite style and appearance - and if you get it (I did I would like to think) you will be amazed.
There is such feel to these pieces they are timeless and yet are so filled with nostalgia that you cannot feel as though they were from a specific "time". I guess I am mixing the memory of seeing that episode and connecting with it through the art. I think this is a brilliant book and will certainly be looking out for others by this artist
I love this book. Funny, though, I oftentimes found myself liking the “posters” created by Ortiz more on the “so-so” episodes than the better/more popular ones. (I requested that my local library system, the Tampa/Hillsborough Public Library, get both this and the pervious “Star Trek: The Art of Juan Ortiz” (2013) and they got this one in first. So, at the time I read this TNG book and am writing this little review, I have not seen Ortiz’s original series book yet.)
This is exactly what you’d expect. Every episode of the next generation as an original poster. Juan Ortiz Is very talented and I very much enjoyed every page so much ive started posted one each day on my Instagram feed! Absolutely love it.
