A year ago Joss O’Neil threw caution to the wind and had a smokin hot ONS in the bathroom of a bar. Now that sexy one-nighter is back and standing right in front of her in the form of her new boss Lieutenant Maddox "Heartbreaker" Hunt.
Maddox Hunt never goes back for seconds and it would be insanity to get involved with one of his rookie's. Trouble is Mad just can't stop remembering how it felt to have Joss come apart in his arms.
When the passion they feel for each other can no longer be denied they agree to a sex-only secret affair. But soon lines are being crossed and for Joss that can end in only one way...HEARTBREAK.
I have to say, I enjoyed the HELL out of this one. The writing was fabulous. The plot was well paced and interesting. The sex was SMOKIN' HOT and plentiful. The side characters were interesting (bring on GREY). It even had a very sweet epilogue.
Both main characters were very likable. Joss was a really great heroine. I don't always like heroines that are police officers because authors tend to write them very aggressive and hard, but that wasn't the case here AT ALL. Joss was sweet and knew her mind. She was a sub to Mad's Dom, and I enjoyed that dynamic very much.
Maddox was plain and simply HOT AS F@CK. He has some hangups, but he was always honest and upfront with Joss. These two acted like adults and communicated. Even when the inevitable climax takes place, it's handled very maturely. In fact, it made me love Joss all the more.
Just a fantastic and enjoyable read all around and I cannot wait to see what is going to happen in the next book. Two thumbs up from yours truly.

It took a while for sexual harassment to be taken seriously in the workplace. Laws were put in place. Times are not perfect...but people are now aware of how unwanted advances and power over another can impact careers....and that is an excellent thing. This awareness can complicate consenting adults who work together, though...and this is part of the theme in Heartbreaker (Filthy,Dirty Love #1) by Stacey Kennedy.
You take a woman who has recently been dumped by the long time thought to be future guy by EMAIL...We have her in the bar... nursing her wounds. She is pissed, sick of being the good girl and deciding from this moment on...she is going to do things differently.
She sees a Man with a capital M...muscular, strong and both of them are sending signals to each other that they would be open to more than just [email protected] swaggers over to her, they dance and grind...and then they are locked in the single use bathroom...
He is feeling his way with her...kissing, touching, and whispering in her ear...making sure this woman is on board for fun and games...She doesn't seem like a woman who did this type of one and done...He is wanting her but makes sure like always she is understanding of The Rules...
He doesn't do repeats...Ever...
That is Oki doki with her....
She is about to start the police academy and will have no time for men...
Let the sexual fun begin...
And boy did it...

This thing with him is her taking pleasure for the first time... her thinking of only what she will receive... amazing new, daring sex...and she thinks she can handle this Friends with benefits thing...
But of course it gets complicated....
Stacey Kennedy knows how to write smokin' hot scenes...and what I liked the most was our gal knew what she was capable of emotionally and was strong about it when it mattered.
This was a Sexy Times book with a little more to it then just that...Enjoy.

This was a first read for me from Stacey Kennedy, but if HEARTBREAKER is anything to go by, it definitely won't be the last!
I found it easy to fall in love with the characters. We meet Joss, fresh from the breakup of a 6-year relationship. She's always tried to conform to make everyone happy and is finally ready to make her own happiness a priority for a change. She wants to take risks. She wants to be adventurous. What better way to accomplish that than to indulge in her first one-night stand with the gorgeous man she meets at a nightclub?
Fast forward a year and Joss is now a rookie cop. It's all good. Everything's coming up roses. If you discount the fact that her new lieutenant is other than the hot guy from her one night stand. The man she hasn't been able to forget. The man she still wants to gorge herself on.
Maddox wasn't able to forget Joss either and although he desires her like no other, he has a hard and fast rule about double dipping. He's got some serious commitment issues. Yet Joss is easily getting past all of his walls.
This story was insanely sexy. The eroticism of it was incredibly hot. But I have to say that matters of the heart played the largest role here. It was beautifully written and I can't wait to grab more stories from this author.

Great book. Smokin' hawt banging from page one. Loved Maddox and Joss. They had a little angst and some light BDSM. Her BFF was a hoot. Can't wait to read about his BFF, Grey.

Not the type to have a one night stand, she decided to break her moral code for once in her life and just enjoy the moment. Now a year later, her walking one night stand is now staring her in the face and he’s not going away anytime soon because guess what? He’s now her boss. Lieutenant Maddox Hunt to be exact. Can you say FML?
Maddox has always wanted to be a police officer. He bleeds blue and there’s nothing else that gives that kind of feeling of knowing that everyday you’re out there, you’re doing something good. But Maddox has another side to him and it’s one hell of a kink. Never one to go back with a former one night stand, to say that Maddox didn’t understand why he needed Joss again was an understatement. But the heart wants what the heart wants right?
I really liked the connection between Joss and Maddox. It felt so genuine and I loved how even though they knew the arrangement, it didn’t stop them from caring about each other in a different way. These were two people that definitely had their baggage but one thing was for sure, their chemistry was undeniable. Even though I had some issues with the story, I still think this was an enjoyable read and if you love hot alpha males,, this is one is most definitely for you.

***FOUR STARS***
This was a pretty sweet story, with a whole lot of filthy sex in it. Man can this author write hot sex scenes! I love a story like this one, where the two main characters decide to have a relationship that is just strictly friend with benefits and no romance or relationship, but their hearts won’t play along and they end up falling in love despite their best efforts not to. This story was very sweet, extremely sexy and I got my HEA. This is the first story I’ve read by this author, but I think it’s in my future destiny to check out her other works now!

I absolutely adored and loved this book. I loved BOTH characters, equally! They were sexy, honest, so freaking compatible it was crazy hot. I guess for me, I wanted more time with them together in the open. I wouldn't have minded a bit more "angst" as well and there was plenty of room to kick it up a notch without "ruining" their story and so that was the only reason I deducted half star.
All in all, my first read by this author and I am now a huge fan. Really great story, writing, characters, secondary characters, too!!!!!!!

GOD ALMIGHTY, Stacey Kennedy, can write some ridiculously good SEXY SEXY!!!
I really want to expand on this because this story is SO much more than meets the eye. The #feels come at you without warning. It is a beautiful thing to read because although the sexual nature of the journey between Joss and Maddox was toe curling sexy, their growth as a couple and also as individuals was ridiculously heartwarming. You get the full package with this book and all written exceptionally well. I cannot wait for the next anything written by Stacey Kennedy!

'Heartbreaker' by Stacey Kennedy is book One in the "Filthy Dirty Love" series. This is the story of Maddox and Joss. Maddox is a season cop but only has one night stands. Doesn't do second nights or dates. Joss has just gotten out of police training and is now working under Maddox. Both are fighting their attraction that actually started a year ago when they met at a bar. Neither knew the other person name and they had a quickie in the bathroom. But the memory has been in both of their minds and they can't get over the hot, exciting encounter they had. Joss had just broken up with her boyfriend of six years when she had her sexual encounter with Maddox and to this day she still is holding a grudge against that relationship. Vowing to near get involved for long term again. When they meet that year later, they both at first don't acknowledge their first meeting. Maddox still wants her but wonders if he can trust her know that he is her boss.
This was a really hot and exciting read! I enjoyed reading how these two were coming together and getting over their past. I loved the epilogue..it always such a please when the author puts one in...like a 'cherry on top'.

Maddox, deserted by his mother as a child, was known as a heartbreaker. He would give a woman one night, and no more. But something about Joss made him want more. He still didn't do relationships, but he figured he and Joss could have sex without emotional entanglements.
Still reeling from the end of a long-term relationship, Joss is fine being a friend with benefits. But the longer the two share some hot nights between the sheets, the more both of them find what they have isn't enough.
But with both of them fighting commitment issues as well as the hazards of a boss dating a subordinate,, can they make a real relationship work?
I liked both Maddox and Joss. He was a true Alpha male, but one who had a sensitive side, and wanted to take care of Joss. Joss herself was strong, smart, and generally somebody who would be fun to know.
The plot is a little thin, but the sex is beyond steamy, and the characters are so well drawn that a complex story line isn't needed. There are some BDSM elements, and some adventurous sexual activity, but it isn't what the book is about.
Overall, an enjoyable read.

This was a hot and steamy story about a couple that shared a one night stand that she couldn't forget. A year later, she discovers that he's her new boss, and the sparks start flying. They hesitate because of their work situation and because he's such a commitment-phobe (one night stands only is his number one rule), but in the end... well, read it to find out :)

I was given this book for an honest review by Wicked Reads.
This book was full of friends with benefits and romance, but it's not your typical romance. I think that's why it worked for me so well. I normally don't like insta-romances, but given the past encounter between Joss and Maddox, I think that this works because it spans time in a smooth fashion.
I liked how Joss was able to handle the situation, somewhat, without turning in to a giddy teenage girl when she encounters Maddox again. Despite her work place situation, she knows what she can handle and goes for it. There is no question that she wants to do a good job, no question that she's still attracted to Maddox and no question that she'll end up getting hurt. Joss goes in to that relationship with her eyes wide open. For goodness sake - he's known as the heartbreaker!
Maddox is kind of hard for me to figure out. He doesn't do relationships - boasts about how he never goes back for seconds. Even his friend Grey doesn't quite understand why his good friend Maddox doesn't do relationships. I loved Grey's mom - and hope that Grey gets his own story.
The heat and chemistry between Maddox and Joss is electric and they have some explosive scenes. I liked how Maddox took control, but wasn't controlling. Not sure if that makes complete sense, but he's dominating without being domineering. I liked the relationship that Joss and Maddox developed and can't wait for more on these characters.

I was given this book for an honest review by Wicked Reads.
This book was full of friends with benefits and romance, but it's not your typical romance. I think that's why it worked for me so well. I normally don't like insta-romances, but given the past encounter between Joss and Maddox, I think that this works because it spans time in a smooth fashion.
I liked how Joss was able to handle the situation, somewhat, without turning in to a giddy teenage girl when she encounters Maddox again. Despite her work place situation, she knows what she can handle and goes for it. There is no question that she wants to do a good job, no question that she's still attracted to Maddox and no question that she'll end up getting hurt. Joss goes in to that relationship with her eyes wide open. For goodness sake - he's known as the heartbreaker!
Maddox is kind of hard for me to figure out. He doesn't do relationships - boasts about how he never goes back for seconds. Even his friend Grey doesn't quite understand why his good friend Maddox doesn't do relationships. I loved Grey's mom - and hope that Grey gets his own story.

What a GREAT book and a sexy story! The pacing was so on-point, while weaving in emotional tension that had me eagerly turning pages just to see what was going to happen. Stacey Kennedy is one of my favorite writers, and I'm so thrilled that this is just Book 1 in a series, so I can feverishly dive into the rest! A wonderful, sexy read!

Sizzling hot, sweet and sexy! This story was excellent!
I had so much fun reading this! The story starts off epically hot and I was completely pulled in. I loved Maddox and his alpha kinky ways! He had some seriously swoon worthy moments too. The man made me melt! Joss was fantastic because she was just so open, accepting, and understanding. She just seemed so strong to me and I loved the confidence she had. They had seriously fantastic chemistry. There was this heat between the two of them that I swear I could feel. I liked the way the kink was introduced and how that worked with their relationship, it was hot and sweet all rolled into one. I loved watching their relationship grow and develop. Yes, it was super hot and there were lots of sexy times but there was a sweetness to them, a vulnerability, as they both shared more and more of themselves. I thought it rounded everything out perfectly.
They do have some obstacles against them so there was a nice amount of conflict introduced but nothing to taxing. Their friends added a nice bit of entertainment that had me smiling, it added a good bit of lightness. I'd love to know more about Maddox friend Grey and I hope he gets his own story.
This was pure entertainment. Really enjoyable and fun, incredibly off the charts panty melting hot, with a really sweet romance happening. There was a nice bit of emotion mixed in too. I loved Maddox opening up and watching some of his walls come down, I loved all the emotion behind it. A man letting his guard down and opening up always makes my heart burst.
I thought the writing was great and there was really good character development, it was all laid out really well. I liked the storyline, there was a great pace, and I liked the secondary players involved. It wrapped up with an excellent ending and really sweet epilogue. I couldn't get enough. Awesome read filled with off the charts hotness (seriously!) and wonderful characters.
If you've not read this author before, this would be an excellent one to start with. It’s my new favorite Stacey Kennedy book to date!

Joss and Maddox met with, well, a bang. And then they went their separate ways. Or so they thought.
And, now they work together, and he is her supervisor, and they are trying to deny the attraction. Joss because she really doesn't want to be the brand new cop sleeping with the boss. Maddox because he is her supervisor, doesn't want to be in trouble at work...oh, and has a rule about sleeping with someone more than once. It's the perfect recipe for 2 people who decide that maybe, just maybe, the risk is worth the reward.
You like Maddox and Joss. I thought the resolution of the situation, both the work and the personal, was a little too quick and this threw off the pacing a little for me, but not enough that I was not able to enjoy the story itself.
The writing and the characters were strong and I thought they behaved as real people would, mostly. As I mentioned, the resolution felt a little rushed.
The sex was hot, his need for control was evident, and the appeal for her of letting go of her control was handled well, which also made this a great read.
I recommend this book.

Another great book from SK!! I don't know about everyone else but I think this author's books keep getting hotter and hotter!! This one is off the charts!!! I thought the Club Sin series was hot....this one just might even top those!!! I love this book and I can't hardly wait for the next one!! I hope I don't have to wait long!!!

A year ago Joss O'Neill and Maddox Hunt decided to have a one night stand with a man she met in the bar (where else), so they hit the bathroom(where else) and have to hottest sex either have ever had. No surprise there. Maddox doesn't do anything but one nighters, ever. No strings, not even a thread.
Joss is getting ready to leave for police academy coming from a long line of police officers and on the heels of a bad break up with a jerk of 6 years. She needed this.
We fast forward a year and Joss is sitting in the squad room with her fellow officer with her best friend Emilia when she looks up and locks eyes with her new Lt. It's Maddox Hunt. His eyes lock with hers and holy crap the sparks. Both of them know it's wrong, but neither have stopped thinking of the best sex either of them have ever had and never stopped thinking about each other. This is a problem for Maddox because he's a one and done man. And he's now her boss.
Joss is as beautiful as he remembers her to be, Emilia catches on quick to the looks passed and guesses that's the "one" she can't forget. Maddox has a best friend Grey, who is privy to all this. Grey is a bit of a man whore (just a tad) and finds himself dispensing advice like a Pez dispenser. Against his better judgment, or maybe not he goes to see Joss and they begin a relationship and holy crap it's so freaking hot it will have your kindle shooting smoke. They quickly reach an understanding that this is a one shot deal (right-o) and he wants to get her out of his system. Lots of luck with that. One thing leads to another and the two start seeing each other setting boundaries to the relationship.
Maddox's Dad is in a care facility because of Alzheimers. He goes one day after things fall apart with Joss and his father happens to be lucid that day. He doesn't know he's talking to his son, but all these years Maddox lived under the impression his mother just up and left them. When the truth comes out, Maddox is dumbfounded. He even goes so far as to research it. Her leaving is one of the main reasons why he refuses to get involved with someone. He's already asked for a transfer, as does she. Her "Uncle" is the Chief of Police and asks her whether it has anything to do with Maddox, she's a bit taken aback however she's honest, he tells her that he's already asked for a transfer to the East side and along with that comes a promotion. She wonders how he knew. Read the book. She also pays his Dad a visit after he dumps her on her ass and his Father says as he was leaving" please send that nice nurse Joss back in here, I liked her." She brought him a little care basket when she came.
Stacey Kennedy writes some great books, this one probably tops them, or it's close. This book was so hot and steamy and requires multiple panty changes. Plus there's always a decent plot line to the story so it's not all sex and no substance. Nothing makes me toss a book away quicker than that.
Well Stacey, you've done it again. I think you blew the lid off this one. Great book! I loved it.

Whenever I read a Stacey Kennedy novel I KNOW I'm in for an outstanding read. The men are alpha, the women are sassy and the sexy times: GOOD LORD are they #STEAMY. Not since this author's Club Sin series have I had to fan myself while reading. This novel was absolutely amazing!
This novel opens up with a bang (literally.) Joss O'Neil and Maddox Hunt have an instant sexual connection at a club and decide to have sex in the club restroom. What follows is one of the sexiest scenes EVER. You can just feel their chemistry coming off the pages in spades!! It was electrifying! Maddox is a dominant alpha man and before delivering on the one million promises in his eyes, makes it known that this a one time thing because he doesn't come back for seconds. Fast forward to a year later and lo and behold, who transfers to Lieutenant Hunt's police station but his memorable one night stand, rookie police officer Joss O'Neil. Now what happens when this UBER hot couple sees and feels the connection they still have with one another? Will Maddox break his commitment issues and see Joss as his perfect match or will Joss realize she deserves better than a man who can't commit? You NEED to read this book to find out!

In the bedroom, he might have had control but this spitfire sure as hell gave as good as she got and knew how to keep this alpha on his toes. I also loved that Joss and Maddox were just so real. Here were two people who didn't expect to ever see each other again but who thought about that one night constantly over the past year. The question is: could they both find it in themselves to get over their own personal issues before taking a chance on each other? *GAH*. Heartbreaker is book one in the Filthy Dirty Love series. Yes, this series couldn't have been better named. This is a second chance lust-to-love story that begins with an intensely steamy one-night stand. This story brings on the heat! There are plenty of steamy scene that will fire up your senses.
Joss O'Neil is assigned to the west precinct of the the Seattle Police Department. She's a rookie with a big goal to be a detective. As chance may have it Joss's new boss is none other than Maddox Hunt, police lieutenant, total badass, resident heartbreaker and the one-night stand she had a year ago. It was a year ago when Joss had been dumped by her long time boyfriend, the man she put first and let dictate her life. She was headed to the police academy and didn't want a relationship so a one-night stand was just what she needed. But what she couldn't forget was the connection she felt that night.
Maddox is not a relationship type of guy. He makes it clear to women that it's only a one-time deal. Maddox has one-night stands and disposes of the women before they can dispose of him. It's how he deals with his feelings about his mother, who had left him as a child and never returned. When Joss reappears in his life Maddox can't help feeling like they have unfinished business.

4.5 awesome 🌟 🌟 🌟🌟🌟!! I have to say...that I really really enjoyed it!! I loved the chemistry between Maddox & Joss!! They are absolutely fucking perfect for each other!! Maddox is the alpha man every girl wants!! It was sweet, passionate and sexy! This tale was excellent!

I really struggled with this one. I felt like it was trying to be a 50 shades copy cat, but was lacking the development of the relationship between the characters. They went from wanting something casual to them both having feelings for each other, but I felt like I was TOLD that happened, rather than SHOWN. I felt like that middle piece that led them to grow together was missing for me. All in all, not my favorite.

Wow. This book should come with a warning label. Or maybe some fans at the point of purchase. Because it's so hot! Once again, Ms. Kennedy knocks this one out of the park with a really fantastic story, very great characters, and sizzling hot chemistry.
Two strangers, one unforgettable sexual encounter. One year later that attraction is still as potent as ever, but the stakes are very high this time as both their jobs and reputations could be on the line if things went sideways between them. Soon, sex only is not enough and Joss wants more, but Maddox never made her any promises and walking away is the only way to avoid getting her heart broken.
The connection between Joss and Maddox was explosive and breath-stealing and I expected a lot of drama and angst from this story but there was very little. Both Joss and Maddox were very mature about the way they handled their relationship and communicated their needs to each other, which I loved. They were also genuine and really likable. Maddox is the stuff of daydreams, hot as sin and also a really nice guy, well-liked and respected by many. Joss is a really great character, down to earth, easygoing but also very independent. I really liked that they were both honest about what they wanted and not afraid to walk away or reach out for more when what they had was no longer enough.
Their growth both individually and as a couple was really fun to watch and that epilogue was too cute for words. I loved everything about this book and I'm really excited about the rest of the series. If you are looking for a spicy hot read, then this is one place to start.

From the moment I heard the premise for Heartbreaker, I was excited. I love all of Stacey Kennedy’s books and this one did not disappoint. I'm a huge fan of characters who perceive themselves as unworthy of love. There is nothing better to me than watching these types of characters fall hard for someone and in the process, learn to love themselves. It's why I read romance novels, and Stacey Kennedy weaves her magic again with Heartbreaker, an unforgettable romance. Just when you think you know what’s going to happen, everything changes, leaving you breathless in anticipation attempting to discover the next move. I LOVED the hot and steamy scenes between them but what really got me was the slow development of feelings between them. The fighting against it. The feeling that neither of them deserved the happiness they had found in each other and the realization that they couldn't live without the other and the drive to fight for what they wanted. This is one of those books you can’t stop reading, turning the next page can’t come fast enough. In the end? You’ll sit there marveling over the world you’ve just surrendered to and need to take a deep breath. Powerful, sexy, and intriguing. Heartbreaker is the ultimate romance and a novel that must be savored like a fine wine.

Joss had a bad breakup and wanted to do something crazy. She ended up having the best night of her life with a stranger. Fast forward a year and he is her commanding officer. I really liked Joss and Maddox. I also really enjoyed the chemistry they had together. They discussed their relationship or non relationship in this case in a very adult manner and I really appreciated the communication they had between them.
As always when a friends with benefits relationship turns into more something has to give. In this case Joss called it off to save her career and her heart. I really respected the calm rational decision-making and the big gesture that Maddox pulled to win her back.
Now that, that is out-of-the-way lets talk about the steaminess and sexiness of this book. It was off the charts HOT. These two together were enough to have me fanning myself while reading. I highly recommend checking this one out and I will be looking for more Stacey Kennedy books to read.

Joss O’Neil has an unforgettable one-night stand with a super sexy stranger in a bar right before leaving for the police academy. This is bound to be a smoking hot series!

The only kink in her plan is her immediate supervisor, Lieutenant Maddox Hunt, who also just happens to be the man she had an incredible one-night stand with a year ago. Veteran cop Maddox Hunt is a "love 'em and leave 'em" kind of guy. Upfront and honest about not wanting a relationship, he struggles with his attraction to Joss. Why does he want to break all of his rules with her?

Joss and Maddox have an intense sexual and emotional bond right from the start. The honesty of their relationship and the fact that they do not keep secrets or play games is a highlight of their romance.
Both Joss and Maddox have well-developed backstories that contribute to understanding their approaches to the relationship. Maddox's history is particularly compelling and some of the revelations of his past are heartbreaking.
The only problematic aspect is the ease with which the conflict between Joss and Maddox's forbidden relationship is resolved. It is difficult to believe that there would be little to no repercussions either personally or professionally.
Despite this, Heartbreaker is a surprisingly delightful and relatively angst-free read. The next book focuses on Maddox's friend, and I look forward to him finding his match.

I only found maybe 3 errors that the editor missed? Definitely not enough to detract from this brilliant author or her exemplary piece of literary art. I loved the entire series that I previously read of hers. This one is just beginning, and it's shaping up to be EVEN BETTER!! Read this and see why this is one of my favorite authors. #Still chanting StaceyKennedy ....yes folks, fangirling came late in life for Ms. Tami. :)

I’m sure someone else might like this but it just feels 50 shades derived and I am so over that genre. I was trying this author because my sister read one of her never books and it was both sexy and funny. This was just sexy. It might be good. But I just didn’t care. On to the next one.
