This is the best arc I've ever received, because its of a series I'm already into, so I won't have to stress myself in getting a copy anymore.
I really enjoyed reading this book, it was an okay conclusion to the series, despite the fact that I lked it I have a some issues with it, I felt like it could have been better. The writing was a bit cheesy and the internal monologue did nothing to make it better.
Everything was just too convenient for the characters, its like it was just waiting for them to come pick it up, I would have liked it more if there was a challlenge or a bump in the road.

The aliens have the weakness ever.
“A simple touch for the average Baelese male, can drive him to distraction for an entire day. A kiss, and heavy touching would be like partaking in strong recreational drugs, or over indulging in alcohol. Anything beyond that, he must trust his partner completely, because his mind is gone.”
Yea, and the only power they have is mind control which is really cool and all but the humans manage to evade that with little or no stress at all.
Like I mentioned earlier everything was just too convenient for my liking, they defeated the aliens with super high tech within minutes with very little casualty and human's backward tech. And all the main characters survived,they all lost people and all but at least the love interest survived and they'll be among the fonders of the new world.

Undone was a stunning conclusion that had me on the edge of my seat! I kept hoping that all of those that I loved would get their happily ever after, even though the odds were stacked against them. And in this final book, there was a completely different element that didn't appear in the previous two books. We alternated views between Amber and her best friend Remy. And let me tell you, while I loved Remy, I couldn't believe that I became just as obsessed with her. I loved that they each added a different view of what was happening in the world. It made this story that much more emotional and I felt as though the stakes were even higher.
But before I can talk about anything else, I have to say that I absolutely loved Amber and Rylen together!! Thank goodness they finally took that step and found some happiness in the bleak world that surrounded them. And now that we got to see all sides of Rylen, I fell even harder for him. He was so passionate, in control and sooooooo sexy. The scenes of them together, in Undone and Unrest, was scorching hot! But underneath it all, I loved that their relationship was based on the most beautiful friendship. Their love truly encompassed it all! So of course I was scared any time they weren't together or when they went on missions together. My heart was in my throat hoping that they would stay safe and alive!
This book had a ton of action that had me flipping through the pages as fast as I could. But at the same time, there was also some slower, heartfelt moments. It all meshed together so perfectly and made the pace feel just right. While there were moments of horror and sadness, I easily found strength in Amber and Rylen's love for one another and the friendships that surrounded them. But I wish I could have said the same for Remy. While my heart hurt for Amber and Remy in different ways, I was beyond terrified with the hell Remy found herself in.
Remy had been captured at the end of Unrest, and was taken to the aliens compound in Nevada with Tater and Linette. They found themselves prisoners, well more like slaves. Not only were they worked to the bone, but the aliens flipped their world upside down. Family units no longer existed. Touching no longer existed. And if anyone wanted to rebel in any way, then they would either die or have the worm *shudders*. It felt as though I was constantly holding my breath, frightened with what was going to happen next to Remy, Tater and Linette. But there was one element I never even considered, since I didn't read the synopsis. And that was Remy's interaction with the enemy's leader.
We witnessed Remy interact with those monsters. And while the majority of them were easy to lump into the enemy category, they weren't all like that. I hated seeing those shades of humanity in the few aliens we become close with, because then I felt guilty wishing for their annihilation. And that's exactly how Remy felt too. But then it got taken up a level when Remy started to feel something towards their leader. I felt as though my emotions were being torn in different directions and that my brain was a convoluted mess. Especially when I thought about Tater, ugh.
But before I wrap up my thoughts, I have to say that I did have three issues with this book. The first was that there was a scene that was a mesh of two scenes from Independence Day. I've seen that movie probably a hundred times, so it stuck out very clearly in my mind. The second issue was that there was a discrepancy between book two and three . And my third issue was that the epilogue left me desperately wanting to know so much more. Yes we got a fabulous closure, but there were so many questions hanging in the air for me like . So while these three issues made me remove a half a star, this series is still going down as one of my favorite dystopian series ever . Don't let this paragraph deter you, I just wanted to give a heads up.
So a huge yes, I definitely recommend this book to dystopian and Wendy Higgins fans! It was full of action, love, friendship, and heart stopping moments. Plus it had the most amazing book boyfriend ever. You have to meet Rylen! He was fierce, protective, loyal, seductive and definitely sexy! I'm so glad I read this trilogy and I'm keeping my fingers crossed that some day down the road we'll get a peak at this world and characters again. I already miss them!

We just stood there, foreheads touching, eyes closed, breathing each other in, letting the urgency of our hope rise up and twirl between us, spinning until it was a powerful cyclone of unspoken words, holding us together.

*3.5* So many missed opportunities for a fabulous ending!! Oh well, I still liked the overall series for basic entertaining reading.
You must read this series in order. It’s an alien invasion, apocalyptic, world-changing story. There will be spoilers in my review for book one and two, so I recommend reading those first!
It has a YA feeling to it. Lack of character depth and skimming lightly over details that could have made this series amazing. All the characters are back from book one and two. Chapters have individual POV, so that was nice. However, it ended so abruptly, and the almost "Will Smith, Independence Day" movie ending was silly. And
I really wanted more into the relationship between I actually really liked Remy in this story. She was the annoying friend in the past series, but she really blossomed here. I also liked that the author didn’t make her a badass. She was still Remy, regular human woman, forced to work closely with the aliens that killed her family, friends and a huge chunk of the world population.
The whole thing with the alien mating cycle just felt gimmicky. I can’t imagine a powerful group like this basically allowing themselves to become so vulnerable for a week. They had evolved out of basic pesky emotions why wouldn’t they have just used artificial insemination as well? It just didn’t make sense to me. Also, I loved the kids. I wanted more with the kids!
I found it really interesting that the aliens wanted to make us all one.
So all in all, this series had some wonderful ideas, but it lacked finesse. It read too much like a group of immature high schoolers trying to save the world. The romances were believable, but I needed more from them. I wished the author would have dug deeper into the ending. How did the rest of the world survive? What has happened with the governments? How is Earth recovering from all the poisoning the aliens did to bodies of water? Animals? Nuclear energy, food production, clothing production? I have so many questions.

A satisfying ending to a must-read series...
I loved this series, Unknown (the series) is a new-adult apocalyptic trilogy. Combining lovable, capable characters with a mysterious and well written end-of-the-world-as-we-know-it premise. It freaking rocks. It was only marred by the ending, where part of it played out entirely too much like a very well-known movie…but I still loved it.

I feel like it has been a while since I have marked every book in a series as 5 stars, but this trilogy really earned all of those stars for me. This final book goes back and froth between two viewpoints, Amber as in the first two, and then Remy, her best friend. Since Remy and Tater and Linette were all captured by the aliens at the end of book two, we had to follow them to find out how they would survive all of this. And in a way, their story was often the one that kept me going, quickly reading through Amber's parts to get back to them. Mainly because Remy was set up in a way that she had to deal with the leader of the aliens, the man who also happened to be the Senator that everyone respected and looked up to so much in the first book. It turned out he was one of the aliens. But he had been with the humans his whole life basically, and felt a connection with Remy. She was able to use that connection to try to find things out to help her friends. In this story we had the other crew, Amber and Rylen and the others from the military base in Alaska now, that were doing their best to plan a way to take the aliens down, before more came from their home planet. We find out there are pockets of human resistance all over the world, and they learn to communicate with very old technology, keeping the aliens, for the most part from figuring out or noticing.
If I can find a way to get these books for my school library, I will definitely do it, as I think my students would enjoy this series as much as I did.

One of the best NA post-apocalyptic books I read this year! You can't help but fall in love with all the characters Wendy creates! There's always a fear present, the sense of despair and maybe lost chances, but in "Undone" Wendy brings also the slight hope.
This book is told through two POVs: Amber and Remy. Both are in different positions and both have to face the aliens and their truly horrific environment. I also couldn't decide if there was truly a love triangle here, until the end where I was relieved.
Read this series! You can't miss this chance!

They know that the fight won’t be easy and the outcome is terrifying, but humanity can’t end like this. Together they will all be in for the fight of their life. Undone was a fantastic read, from beginning to end. This story captivated, thrilled me and answered all of my burning questions. I found the plot of this story to be so intriguing. I loved the dystopian world that Wendy Higgins created and loved getting to learn more about those who have invaded earth.
I loved all of the twists and moments that made me hold my breath. I loved being on the edge of my seat and being breathless with anticipation of how things will play out. I loved the sweet and swoon-worthy moments, in a world of despair. I loved the sense of hope despite the danger that lurked around every corner. Wendy Higgins totally knocked it out of the park with this final installment to the Unknown Series!

I do not know where to begin this review. I've been working for days on it because there's so much I'd love to say and yet, I have to stop myself because I do not want to spoil the conclusion to this series for anyone.
The story picks up where the Unrest left us hanging where we were still unsure of the character's future. Undone is told from Amber and Remy's point of views which was perfect due to the team being separated and it made more sense to actually see two sides of the story as Amber and Remy are both different kind of people and you got to see how this war is affecting them differently.
Since we followed most of the series through Amber’s eyes, it was a nice change to see it from Remy’s because even if she has always been the most outgoing one of the two, I feel like she’s also the most sensitive one and as she struggles with pretending to be on the enemy’s side to survive, she gets to see a lot more than she anticipated, to feel a lot more than she ever believed. I liked that we got to see a lot more of this enemy through her because you get learn more about them too.
With Amber, you follow the war through the preparation the humans are doing to win their planet back. How they were ready to die for the cause and how much there was to gain if they did win that war. From her point of view, you can see how every human are trying to get ready for it and how focus they are to find everything that could help them, but you also get to see that in this chaos, humans need some time for themselves to simply appreciate the time they have because nothing is certain. In those moments, you get to see Amber embrace what she has left and the hopes of what their future in the end.
I don’t think a character will leave you without feelings. Whether you like or hate them, not one of them will leave you indifferent throughout this book. And I like that because it means the writer just gave us interesting characters that made this story even more fun to read.
There wasn't a dull moment in this book as you keep wanting to go to the next chapter and the one after that, etc. So much is happening so fast that you want to know what will happen next. You want to be sure you don’t miss a sentence of the book as the ending is near and you want to know what will happen to the characters.
Overall, this book was an amazing conclusion to this series and for me, this was a 5 stars series all the way.

Since we followed most of the series through Amber’s eyes, it was a nice change to see it from Remy’s because even if she has always been the most outgoing one of the two, I feel like she’s also the most sensitive one and as she struggles with pretending to be on the enemy’s side to survive, she gets to see a lot more than she anticipated, to feel a lot more than she ever believed. I liked that we got to see a lot more of this enemy through her because you get learn more about them too.
With Amber, you follow the war through the preparation the humans are doing to win their planet back. How they were ready to die for the cause and how much there was to gain if they did win that war. From her point of view, you can see how every human are trying to get ready for it and how focus they are to find everything that could help them, but you also get to see that in this chaos, humans need some time for themselves to simply appreciate the time they have because nothing is certain. In those moments, you get to see Amber embrace what she has left and the hopes of what their future in the end.
I don’t think a character will leave you without feelings. Whether you like or hate them, not one of them will leave you indifferent throughout this book. And I like that because it means the writer just gave us interesting characters that made this story even more fun to read.
There wasn't a dull moment in this book as you keep wanting to go to the next chapter and the one after that, etc. So much is happening so fast that you want to know what will happen next. You want to be sure you don’t miss a sentence of the book as the ending is near and you want to know what will happen to the characters.
Overall, this book was an amazing conclusion to this series and for me, this was a 5 stars series all the way.

I do not know where to begin this review. I've been working for days on it because there's so much I'd love to say and yet, I have to stop myself because I do not want to spoil the conclusion to this series for anyone.
The story picks up where the Unrest left us hanging where we were still unsure of the character's future. Undone is told from Amber and Remy's point of views which was perfect due to the team being separated and it made more sense to actually see two sides of the story as Amber and Remy are both different kind of people and you got to see how this war is affecting them differently.

I was so lucky to get a copy of this! I've been dying to read it since I finished the second one and I felt like I was blessed by the reading Gods when I saw the sign up sheet for an ARC. So with all that said, you know I've got nothing but great things to say about the ending to this wonderful series.
It picks up right where the second one left fell, which I loved! We left off in such a scary place that I was glad to see how it played out. The story seems to move faster in this one ten in the other two, it might be because their are two POVs and the author just wanted to give us the good parts of the story or the parts that moved the plot along. Which was fine by me! I loved this book just as much as I did the rest of them.
I thought that I wouldn't like getting Remy's POV, because while I like her, she wasn't my favorite character but after getting into her head, I like her a whole lot more! I found her chapters sometimes more interesting than Amber's! I did not think that would happen!
The ending tied everything together perfectly. It was a very satisfying ending, it made me happy even though there were some deaths that hit me hard. I like that though, if no one had died.... it wouldn't felt fake to me. So The ending was perfect in my eyes and this series will always hold a special place in my heart.

Amber, Tater, Rylen, and Remy and the gang are back for the final book in the Unknown Trilogy and I was so excited to see how this amazing trilogy would be wrapped up.
I was a little unsure going in how I would like alternating between Amber and Remy's perspectives because I wasn't as invested in Remy in the last book but I actually almost found myself liking Remy's side of the story even more than Amber's.
While Amber, Rylen, and the rest of the human/military personnel are back in Alaska planning how to take down the Baelese once and for all Remy, Tater, and Linette are living in enemy territory under the Baelese rule. At every turn you're wondering if the Baelese are going to find out that Remy, Tater, and Linette aren't actually "DRI" sympathizers and worrying about their fates if they break one of the Baelese's insane rules (especially the crazy no-touching rule).
In Alaska, Amber, Rylen, and the others are prepping for war, trying to take back the military base, and communicating with other allies while trying to stay under the radar so they Baelese don't know what they're planning.
As tensions grow thicker and the two halves of the story converge it will be a heart-racing fight to take back Earth and I loved every single minute of it! I was addicted to the first book and really liked the second book but Undone completely blew me away! (P.S. I was completely right on who the leader of the Baelese was! I guessed it from book 1!)
Undone is sexy, action-packed, and will have you holding your breath with worried anticipation until the story's unbelievable climax. As a whole this trilogy perfectly took you on a journey. Book one gave you Amber's background and secret feelings for Rylen and the events leading up to the Baelese invasion and the dark first days/weeks that followed. Book two showed you the new "normal" and how humanity could react and turn on itself when what we should be doing is pulling together. And book three showed resilience and then recovery.
I liked that Undone was able to close out the trilogy without a mass of senseless casualties of major characters. Sometimes, especially on tv shows, you reach the final season (or in this case book) and a screenwriter (or author in this case) starts killing off major players so they don't have to have as many storylines going but thankfully Wendy Higgins kept most of the group alive which made me happy. There is one death toward the beginning of the book which is upsetting although I hardly remember that character from the previous books (they just didn't make much of an impression on me) and one toward the end that's shocking but all in all I like that she decided to keep most of the casualties to nameless background characters.
What surprised me most was how much I kind of liked the chemistry dancing between Remy and the leader of the Baelese. Even though I love Tater, reading those scenes were pretty awesome.
Overall, I was completely satisfied with this book from beginning to end and I recommend this trilogy to everyone because before I read the first book I would have told you I didn't like this genre, but I find that Wendy Higgins is such a phenomenal author that she could read any genre and I would love it!

Undone, like Unknown and Unrest, sucked me in and had me hooked instantly. I've really enjoyed the whole series and its concept. It's different and really intriguing, always keeping you dying to know what's going to happen next. There were also multiple times when the book took some turns I wasn't expecting. I love this group of characters! They all kept me entertained as well as feeling for them every step of the way. They all go through, and have been through, so much, it's really sad. Amber and Rylen are definitely my favorites. I've loved watching their relationship grow from beginning to end, they're so cute together and definitely deserve one another as well as to be happy. It was interesting being in Remy's head in Undone. She experiences a lot of turmoil in her head and has to decide what she's willing to do to save herself and her friends. It takes a toll on her, but she's strong, smart, and determined. I love how she stays compassionate even in the really dark times. I wish there would have been a few Tater chapters to get his side of things. I think it would have been really interesting being in his head. I loved the ending and thought it was very fitting, but I wish it were longer to get a little more of a feel on their lives and the state of the world. Overall this was a great series and I'm sad that it's over. *I received an arc in exchange for an honest review*

Okay I know I wasn't expecting much from Undone after those first two books and...it didn't get any better. Man this series was seriously annoying. I hated the characters, the romance was super lame, everything was just not good. I am still surprised as I loved Sweet Evil and those books so I expected more. At least the same level of storytelling, but if I didn't know better I would say this was the first thing the author wrote and she wrote Sweet Evil later. I actually went back and re-read Sweet Evil after I finished this just to see if I was not remembering the writing style and such correctly, but no that is a MUCH better book. The writing, the characters, the story, everything is sooooo much better than in this series. I don't get it. *spoilers ahead*
So Undone is the conclusion of this series. Where our heroes and heroines take down the aliens and save the world. Or what is left of it. The story is told from Amber and Remy's point of views. And maybe a few other people, but they were the main ones. Remy and Tater and lady who liked Rylan and is super tough were captured by the aliens and they pretended to be on the aliens side so they could live at their main camp and try and take them down from the inside. Which...okay here is a HUGE issue I have with this story. Which I didn't really think that much about until this happened. Until people were captured and interviewed by the aliens, they told the aliens lies, and the aliens just said okay and let them in. So it was set up in the first book that the aliens have these mind control powers. They can make you do what they want, say what you really think and feel, if they use them. So why don't the aliens use these powers? Why not use them when interviewing these suspect people? Why just ask them questions normally and they say whatever and just believe them? That makes no sense. None. I mean...I don't get it. But after I thought of it I realized there were so many times when they could have made things easier and just used the mind control to get things done. Like why wouldn't they use it all the time to keep the humans compliant and doing what they wanted? You gave them this power and then it is only used once or twice for not much which doesn't make sense. Like when grandpa wouldn't hand over the keys in the first book instead of having Tater and Rylan move out of the way, why not just have grandpa hand over the keys? That would have been simpler and easier and then the family wouldn't get upset and would be easier to round up and kill them all as a whole. Or why not just kill everyone right then? So yeah, the whole mind control thing the aliens had was way underused and I didn't understand why. It was almost useless to them as they used it so ineffectively.
So Remy was still just as stupid as she was in the other books. The senator turns out to be the leader of the aliens and at first she is super upset, but then of course the senator thinks she is all that and treats her special so Remy is all he is not bad! At the end she even tries to save the senator and the kids because golly gee guys we can all get along and live peacefully even though the aliens killed everyones family and friends and were absolutely horrible to humans. Who cares that they bombed everyone I cared about except the few who managed to get out, we can all live in peace and harmony with these aliens. Sure. Yeah. Really. No. No. Sorry no. You kill my entire family I don't care how "nice" you are now that you are not in charge I will never trust you and won't want to live amongst you. I would want you locked up somewhere far away so you can't hurt anyone else I come to care about. Yeah. So Remy was all wide eyed optimist still with the huge heart and no. It was too much.
On the other hand Amber is up in Alaska with everyone else planning their final siege. It is very lucky that the aliens all procreate at the same time and it makes the guys crazy when they do so they good guys have a great window of opportunity. But first they have to take down the outpost in Alaska so they know the aliens plans and when exactly the sexy times were planned. And man Amber was still acting like a stupid 12 year old the whole time. She was taken along when they were taking down the Alaskan post and she is incredibly stupid when she hears someone coming her way it can only be one of the good guys right and she goes crazy getting to them only *shock surprise* it was an alien and then a gun fired and alerted the rest of the aliens that they were under attack. Great job Amber. I see why you wanted to come along. To mess things up and get people killed. Yes, she feels terrible afterwards, but geez she was stupid. I get it can be hard to think straight in difficult situations, but man. It was hard to believe she was as old as she was supposed to be. Because she never acted like it.
So the main battle, taking down the aliens and getting control of earth back, was a bit disappointing. It was all way too easy. And way too quick. Just like woohoo! We won. End of story. I don't know. I don't really understand why everyone seems to love this series. The writing is not that good, the characters are not realistic and feel like they are young children, everything is too easy, the aliens have powers they don't use, it was all just a mess. I don't know what happened with this, or maybe the Sweet series was just a fluke. This wasn't good. Not at all. I don't understand.

What an amazing ending to an amazing series.
I've been fortunate enough to have the opportunity to read an early copy of this much-anticipated finale, and I have to say that Wendy did not disappoint! It was full of heart-stopping action, suspense, some super sweet moments between characters that I've come to love, awesome world-building along with villains we love to hate, some seriously heartbreaking moments for a few of our characters, and tension.
So. Much. TENSION. Of all kinds really.
I found myself wanting to stop reading because I knew bad things were coming, but also not able to stop reading because I NEEDED to know how this would end. This entire series was unique in its focus on the lives of our MCs before the invasion. We get to see how they lived normal lives before all sh*t hit the fan, which really enabled me to empathize with their trials and struggles and triumphs. All of the characters were so relatable and lovable and essential to the story because they brought a certain level of humanity and laughter to the group, which the Baelese so clearly lacked.
Even though this series highlights our gullibility and initial weakness as a lesser race, it's also a story of our perseverance and determination and compassion and love and ability to come together for a common goal. The story is ultimately full of hope in humanity's goodness, and I loved following along with the entire gang (even though I was biting my nails the whole time). Overall, I wholeheartedly recommend this series!! The ending was gratifying, though I wished we could have gotten a little more elaboration on Remy and Tater in the 'aftermath'. Still, a definite must-read.

It was full of heart-stopping action, suspense, some super sweet moments between characters that I've come to love, awesome world-building along with villains we love to hate, some seriously heartbreaking moments for a few of our characters, and tension.
So. Much. TENSION. Of all kinds really.
I found myself wanting to stop reading because I knew bad things were coming, but also not able to stop reading because I NEEDED to know how this would end. This entire series was unique in its focus on the lives of our MCs before the invasion. We get to see how they lived normal lives before all sh*t hit the fan, which really enabled me to empathize with their trials and struggles and triumphs. All of the characters were so relatable and lovable and essential to the story because they brought a certain level of humanity and laughter to the group, which the Baelese so clearly lacked.
Even though this series highlights our gullibility and initial weakness as a lesser race, it's also a story of our perseverance and determination and compassion and love and ability to come together for a common goal. The story is ultimately full of hope in humanity's goodness, and I loved following along with the entire gang (even though I was biting my nails the whole time). Overall, I wholeheartedly recommend this series!! The ending was gratifying, though I wished we could have gotten a little more elaboration on Remy and Tater in the 'aftermath'. Still, a definite must-read.

It read like a really good fan fiction, but not like the Unknown and Unrest that I read and loved.
It was a good read, nothing wrong with it really, other than it just was.....predictable. And....too easy. The first novel tested boundaries. Pushed human character. Made the characters actually fight inner demons. The conclusion to the trilogy ended up being more....flatlined?
I mean, no character development. We get a couple added secondary characters that are there as plot devices my opinion. Amber had nothing to add to this story, if I’m being real. There were a handful of potential events that could have really pushed her development, like her first fight with Rylen, her part in the Alaskan base take over, and even the potential lobotomy, but instead those issues resolved relatively quick and easy. Even the steamy scenes with Rylen felt flat, forced, out of place. The closet scene would have been nice if it wasn’t for the heavy handed build up.
Remey could have been so much more. She did offer us the sympathetic view of the enemy, but what’s the point if it’s just disregarded in the end? And i don’t understand her attraction to the senator....mind you he was supposed to be twice her age from my understanding.
Rylen and Tate honestly didn’t do much either. AND IM ACTUALLY MAD ABOUT TATE AND REM! Like that’s it?? That’s how their tension is resolved?? Ugh i was expecting more.

They’re fighting an alien race that wiped billions of people out, and yet i feel like the entire novel was a cop out of what could have been greatness. Like, this race had super advanced tech, sciences, and organization but it fell so easy.
Even the ending! With Rylen magically having found his niece? Or Ambers messed up ovaries miraculously being healed?

I love Wendy Higgins and her writing. I am a HUGE FAN.
So when the opportunity to get my hands on an ARC (Advance Reader Copy) I jumped on it! I mean really... is there any other choice? No. The only answer is: ABSOLUTELY!
Undone starts right in from where we left off in book two, Unrest. If you haven't read that or book one, Unknown, then stop reading this right now and go read it! If you are up to date, then let's begin....
Wendy did not pull her punches. This book started off at Warp Speed Factor 4 and didn't hit the brakes the whole way through. It's an emotional jump start from the first page.
I felt overwhelmed at times. Wendy packed this novel with so much emotional pull. Scene after scene was saturated with emotion: tension, drama, humor, anxiety, fear, romance.... it was almost too much. ALMOST.
But that's when you know a book is outstanding, because THE FEELS. Wendy develops her characters and the situations envelope you. She wraps you up and immerses you into the mind of her characters. You feel what they feel. Yeeeessssssss. I love how she goes back and forth between Reme and Amber. It kept the pacing steady and my interest and peak level.
Wendy delivered some explosive revelations in this final installment. Loose ends and questions were answered. You KNOW I'm not going to reveal any spoilers, but let's just acknowledge that my mind was shattered.
I must say that my heart was with Tater on this journey. I kept wondering if he was going to crack. He had been through so much, and wasn't handling it well. As I read Undone, and saw what was happening to him and how he watched out for Reme, I just wanted to wrap him up and take him home. I can't even imagine how he felt. I love you, man.
The story was masterfully crafted. Wendy didn't spill the beans. She carefully weaved details and storylines into a magical web that ensnared my mind. I was kept on pins and needles the whole time, wanting answers.
Reme was a big surprise for me. She was like an onion, with layer after layer being revealed. I knew from book one that there was more to her, and we find the mother load in this final book. She develops a lot as well. She has to. She's put through hell in this book and it keeps getting worse and worse.
By the last couple of chapters, I wanted to have words with Wendy. I mean, really. How much do you expect a person to deal with? It's just not fair.
Amber develops as well. Her path in this story is very different. I will say she had to have so much patience. Hers was a waiting game this go round. She made some mistakes and had to learn how to live with them. Amber also had some wonderful surprises as well.
My favorite part of the book was actually the hardest to read. It was Reme's story. The whole extensive lot of secondary characters were well developed and I fell a little more in love with each of them. Then, of course Wendy has to go and cause events that made me cry like a newborn baby.
I really enjoyed the new Alaska location. It really fit well with the story and felt very realistic. Then ending was the only hiccup to me. I wished it was drawn out a bit more. Wendy definately left the door open for a spin-off, and I'm dropping my suggestion note for that into the box. I can really see where it could take off.
But alas, this story has come to a close. May we have a moment of silence for the ending to an original, captivating and engaging trilogy that ruled my heart from the first page to the last. It slew me and left me hungry for more. You can't get any better than that.

3.5 stars. Awesome completion of the series.
The sweeping worldwide military win was definitely too good to be true, highly convenient, and a bit glossed over, but I don’t mind that much. It was the journey to get there that made me want to read the book.
I like that one of the villains was humanized. The chemistry between him and Remy was palpable. Off the charts. His big weakness was a fascinating plot device I’ve never come across before. It was Remy’s POV installments that kept me quickly turning pages. :)
Amber’s POV chapters were just mediocre. She had a one-track mind for a while there, and that made her character feel lackluster. Also, she had a TSTL moment when she defied her military superior and disobeyed his order, resulting in chaos (although the mission was still a success, thankfully). Grr.
I really liked the book. But I took a star off for f-words and too much explicit sexual content.
* I gotta say that it seemed unrealistic to make Remy and Tater so sexual during a traumatic period. If you’re dealing with constant terror, diminished nutrition, 24/7 captivity and surveillance, complete absence of being able to connect, touch, speak or comfort other human beings around you, etc, I don’t think you’d have much of a sex drive.
Period.
The intensity of their simmering passion seemed very out of place and jarring to me. How he would watch her while they were separated with a predatory, intense gaze was weird. I would expect him to show more love and concern and less lust under the circumstances. The cornfield scene was just, wow. And not in a good way. It felt rapey, except Remy was into it so… I guess not? It would have been way more believable for them to hug, comfort, speak to each other in their limited moment of freedom. Communicate for once. Have a chance to let their guard down and interact without constant systemic stress. The basic human needs for survival, safety, and foundational human connection are stronger and more pressing than the sex drive. Those needs have to be met first before the sex drive kicks in. There wasn’t even a “Hi. How are you doing? I’ve been worried about you.”
Needless to say, I really hated that stupid scene.
The epilogue was sweet and satisfying. And they all live happily ever after. Their future happiness was tied with a neat bow (family and kids- aww!) and we’re left with a glowing hope for the successful comeback of the species.

Sex- three and a half very detailed and explicit play-by-play sex scenes that I skimmed/skipped through. Plenty of innuendo and sexual references.
Violence- blood and death. Not so much that it was a problem.

And the ending is upon us. I swear I didn't think this series could be tied up in this final book, but I was wrong. It was perfect. We got just enough through the book, that by the time we got to the end I was completely content where it ended.
I am not a big Sci-Fi reader, but this series really did it for me. Maybe sci-fi romance IS (maybe) my thing.
I wont go on and on with this book, so much happens that I feel like I will spoil it. Just know that it brings ALL the tears and truly has you questioning yourself over and over again. I was definitely heart broken and torn multiple times, but by the end I was content with where it ended up.
Fall in love, save the world. Seems easy, huh? Amber's story rocked.

UNDONE kicks off from where the last book ended. This one read much faster than the previous two, and that has a lot to do with the fact that there is much more action. Even when there is a dialogue-heavy scene, it's still tension based and we know there's going to be action because of that scene.
In addition, we get the story from two points of view: Amber and Remy's. I was a bit hesitant about having Remy's POV added in, but I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed getting into her head. I ended up liking her more than I originally did, and I definitely enjoyed reading her chapters more than Amber’s.
The two have such different personalities and it was nice to see that juxtaposition. Seeing her development play out was an awesome bonus. She becomes a strong, independent woman as a result of everything she's had to endure. Her point of view allows us to see the basecamp of the enemy and the inner workings of their operation. I was always eager to get to Remy and the senator’s chapters. He was quite interesting to read and their interactions even more so. I was a little disappointed with how things turned out with him and some of the others of his kind though.
But don’t get me wrong, Amber and Rylen were beautiful to see together too. I love the bond that they share and how they continue to grow it throughout the book. Amber’s chapter’s held the moments of sweetness and hope that was woven in during a scary time of death and war.
I will say that I was left a bit underwhelmed with the ending and the Bael themselves. I think Higgins was trying to make them as human-like as possible, meaning no stereotypical alien qualities, yet still make them greater than us in other ways that gave humans a challenge. That being said, I thought they were overpowered pretty easily. After all that build-up, worry, and anticipation, their demise was too convenient. It was certainly a satisfying end but convenient nonetheless.
I wish we were able to see more of the re-building that they had to do and just the state of everything and everyone after the war.
Overall, this was a good, solid finish to this sci-fi, dystopian, new adult series. The Unknown series is thrilling from start to finish and refreshingly different from a lot of what’s out there in the NA world. More importantly, it’s done well! I highly recommend picking this series up!

Nachdem Remy und Tatter von den Außerirdischen gefangen genommen wurden, stehen Amber und Ry alleine da. Amber ist am Boden und die neue Unterkunft ist auch nicht halb so konfortabel, wie die alte. Die neue Militätbasis ist überfüllt, es sind fast nur Männer und das Essen ist knapp. Immer noch sind Amber und der Zahnarzt die einzigen mit einer medizinischen Ausbildung.
Als Zivilisten gefangen genommen werden, haben die zwei dann auch die Möglichkeit an dem Wurm zu arbeiten, der die Menschen zu willenlosen Zombies macht.
Gleichzeitig werden Tatter und Remy in ein Lager für Menschen gleich neben der neuen Basis der Außerirdischen gebracht. HIer sehen sie auch den Senator wieder und auch wenn Remy immer noch die Hoffnung hatte, dass er ein Mensch und auf ihrer Seite wäre, wird sie nun eines besseren belehrt. Die Außerirdischen halten die Menschen wie Sklaven: sie dürfen sich nicht berühren, nur das nötigste Reden und eigentlich nur arbeiten. Remy hat Glück und wird zur Unterrichtung der Kinder der Außerirdischen abgezogen. Sie darf ins Hauptquartier und hat somit Zugang zu Informationen. Und der Senator ist über das normale Maß hinaus von Remy fasziniert.
Man hatte gedacht: schlimmer geht nicht, die Athmosphäre und Situation war so angespannt, dass man keinen Ausweg sah, aber Mrs. Higgins legte noch eine Schippe auf und die Situationen wurden noch beklemmender, noch hoffnungsloser.
Großartiger Erzählstil, nur wenige Atempausen, die nur ein Übergang zu noch dramatischeren Situationen darstellen. Spannend, beklemmend und ein muss für jeden Dystopie-Fan!

But, it lacked of tension and real danger. I fell like everything was solved quite easily and it was really fast. So, you can't really fear for the characters and I kind of missed that.
But, this series never really was about the invasion and the mysterious aliens...It was more focused on the characters and their growth through this journey. On this, Wendy Higgins does something really moving and cute.
I loved them all, I loved the friendship and bonds their created all together. Once again, I wished for more tension and danger, to really be caught in their story but...I won't complain with what I got.
Amber and Ryle became this strong couple, sure of their feeling and enjoying every moment they have.
In this tome, I was more invested in Tater and Remy's storyline. My heart broke for them. I wanted more of them, more moments with them together... That where I'm left wanting more.

Wow that was one hell of a conclusion. I was not expecting what just happened and I may be a little in shock, because let's be real honest here, alien invasion is a terror of mine! This book might have been a tad too realistic. Yeah, I may have had some bad dreams - because ahhh ALIENS! Of course with it being a fear of mine, I try to consume all the media I can to help me prepare and Undone will give you some really good ideas on how to fight back!
As the other two books had some down time, scene setting, background and all, this book is jammed packed with action from start to finish. The tension was off the hook. This whole book had my chewing my lip! There's also some really steamy hotness. Like just perfect sweet love...and a whole lot of lust!
After everything they have all be through, book 3 picks up right were the last left us dangling on that cliff. I was thrilled there wasn't an immediate jump in time, and I was floored over what was to come. I couldn't turn the pages fast enough.
I was also pleasantly surprised how much I loved the addition of Remy's point of view, since she is no longer with Amber. With the core characters split it was really important to have that second POV. I felt so horrible for what Remy was going through. I can't even imagine how she held up as well as she did, even though she was clearly extremely stressed throughout. Plus her and the Senator was really intense. Hell all of Remy's scenes were really intense.
If you like realistic apocalyptic, sci-fi, and romance above all, then I highly recommend the Unknown trilogy!
As the other two books had some down time, scene setting, background and all, this book is jammed packed with action from start to finish. The tension was off the hook. Great conclusion!
Unlike the other two books this one was action packed from the start! The more you read into the series the better the books got. I wanted, no needed to know more and to find out how everything would play out! Who would win in the epic battle between human and alien?
Living in a world torn apart by war, Amber and her friends must ban together to find other human's to help fight back. Meanwhile, Remy and a few others are taken captive and are forced to work in a camp owned by the enemy.
What really made this book great for me was that we got two different points of view, Amber and Remy's. I loved getting to see inside Remy's head. She is the soft to Ambers hard, both having such different outlooks on life.
It was also great to actually see the workings of the enemy, how they operate and think. Navis was such a great character for me. I think he added a lot to the story line and showed a different side to the aliens. I somewhat wish things would have played out a little differently for him but the ending was still pretty good.
