Those who tread the Road of Blades do so seeking glory in the eyes of the Dark Gods, or so Ahazian Kel believes. He is the last of his tribe, a Deathbringer, a fearless warrior whose path leads him to the dreaded Soulmaw, a forge-citadel and bastion of Khorne's Skullgrinders, a place between realms. To breach such a fortress... the rewards could be beyond imagining, the power to determine your own destiny, but Ahazian must endure every trial of Chaos and prove he is worthy before he can become exalted.

Read it because
It's an exploration of what a servant of the Blood God will do, and how far he will go, in the service of his dark master and in pursuit of power and glory.

Day four of Black Library’s Advent Calendar sees the first Age of Sigmar story, in the shape of The Road of Blades by Josh Reynolds. Tying in loosely with his Black Rift novel and setting things up for the upcoming The Eight Lamentations, it follows Ahazian Kel, Deathbringer of Khorne, as he searches for the Road of Blades that will lead him further on his path to claiming ever more powerful weapons. Constantly being tested as he strives to prove himself in the eyes of the Blood God, he uses both his strength and his wits on the perilous journey.

Short story with great premise and atmosphere, although at times the author is a bit hung up on finding and using the longest words in the thesaurus just for the sake of it.

This short story is part of Josh Reynolds’ Eight Lamentations series of stories and while I haven’t read any of the other stories, it has interested me in the series. The story itself is very entertaining, focusing on a single Bloodbound warrior undertaking various trials to acquire a new weapon. The story has a nice mix of different types of action that is as well written as should be expected from Josh Reynolds. The two main characters are also quite interesting, particularly blacksmith Volundr, who seems quite interesting.

A prologue to his forthcoming novel "The Eight Lamentations". As always Reynolds story telling is superb and his world building In the Age of Sigmar is a thing of beauty. I truly look forward to his next offering from the mortal realms.
