Main characters: Hail & Isobel Yates
Type of Kindred bonding: Dark/Bolaxian Berserk Beast
Hail used to be one of Z4 (Zeaga Four) planet citizens where feelings had been outlawed and feel-crime was punishable by death. Now he has an emotion damper to control his feelings, since the only feeling that he is comfortable with is rage. His name was Nine and he is the best friend of Six who is now called Jax.
We have met Six in book Enhanced (Brides of the Kindred #12). Dark Kindreds back then wanted to conquer Earth and remove feeling from all humans. Thankfully, their attempt was unsuccessful and now there is peace between Dark Kindred and the rest of the Kindred and humans.
Isobel is a single mother with a kid with special abilities. Her dim-witted husband could not accept the fact that his son is not like the rest of his children of his age. So when he became violent, Isobel abandoned him and run away.
The facts that
(a) Isobel is one of the Kat’s best friends,
(b) she used to be also an event planner,
(c) Six’s first son is about to be born,
(d) Hail is the only available Kindred to bring Isobel to the ship in order to plan the baby shower
are the excuses the universe and Goddess need to bring Hail and Isobel together.
They have been dreamsharing already, but none of them was ready for a relationship.
Isobel has lost the faith in men. Hail never really pay attention to females and he is moreover a virgin.
If you are a fan of the series, you will know what to expect. This book is a very good example and it has the appropriate length in order not to get bored.
The world is now welcoming another alien species, the Chalombs, who resemble the aliens from alien autopsy shows (bulbous heads and huge black eyes) with the weird names Grrn and Fsst. Those weird aliens want to investigate the Mating habits of the species. I am sure everyone understands where all this is going.
Moreover, the disgusting Hive is apparently back in the next book.
Overall a decent, very enjoyable addition to the series.

*3.5* Pure smut with a dash of plot. As one of the characters in this book so eloquently said "It sounds like the plot of a crazy science fiction porno."

Narrator: McKenzie Cartwright gets 5 Stars for her performance in Bonding With the Beast. One of my biggest pet peeves is how the males voice is handled by a female narrator. McKenzie did a great job. Her voice allowed me to submerge into the story and I didn't even think about it when she switched between characters.
Story: I've only ever read book one in this series but it was enough to know what to expect when listening to the audio of Bonding With the Beast. When a series has so many books, it's nice to know you don't have to follow in order and just pick what sounds good at the time.
Hail is big and scary but deep down he is just a big teddy bear. He does have Bolaxian Beast genetics in him that turns him into a beast in battle and mating. He's feared that side of himself so much that he had an emotion damper attached to him so he can control the beast. He never thought he would be able to actually have a mate one day.
Isobel is a human single mom. She filed for divorce and fled from her ex husband with her little boy. When Hail enters their life, she is too afraid to allow him in due to her mistreatment from her ex. She's surprised when her son wants Hail in their life.
I enjoyed Hail and Isobel's story. This has me wanting to get back into this series and reading the rest of them. I highly recommend getting the audiobooks. McKenzie was fantastic.

Four and a half
I love it when this author returns to her Kindred series as they are outrageous, totally over the top and such fun. Add in the sexy times and there's a really good reason why so many readers enjoy the thought of escaping humdrum reality with a Kindred of their own ! This book whilst a little shorter than others in the series ( more a novella ) still adds a little something to the overall storyline but it's primarily about this couple finding each other.
Isobel is a divorcee who's started all over again with her son Brandon who has Aspergers. She's a devoted mum, very protective and the bond she shares with her son is lovely to read about. Isobel is going to catch up with an old friend on the Kindred mothership but is bowled over when her ride arrives. Not only is Hail the biggest Kindred Isobel has ever seen but he also happens to be the guy who has been haunting her dreams! Hey that spooky enough but when Brandon says he too has dreamt of Hail things start to take a very strange turn .
Ok now using a child with any form of autism as a plot device could go either way but it works beautifully here. Told with a sensitivity that makes Brandon an intrinsic part of the story it was heartwarming to read about his interactions with Hail who with his unemotional responses seemed robotic enabling Brandon to connect without the fear that could make human interaction so problematic .
It's Hails way of turning off his emotions that drives this story as although Kindred he is part Baloxian which means he has a rage inside him that turns into a true beast when released . Meeting Isobel puts Hail in a quandary as he wants to feel but also fears he might harm her but things don't quite go as Hail anticipates meaning the author gets to have fun with her characters and of course eventually give her readers the happy ending they hope for.
I received a copy that I've voluntarily read with no requirement for a review. These thoughts and comments are my own honest and I believe fair opinion

Hail, formerly known as Nine on the planet Z4, was allowed to migrate to the Kindred's Mother Ship though he comes with baggage. That being that while 90% of his DNA is Kindred, the remainder is Bolaxian Berserker making him highly unstable if it weren't for his internal adjustable emotion damper to regulate his emotions. On planet Z4 emotions of any sort would result in being charged with feel crimes which is why he's now on the Kindred Mother Ship experiencing limited emotions for the first time without consequence.
Plus sized Isobel Yates is the single mother of an exceptional Autistic child who is working to make a new life after leaving an abusive relationship. A good friend, Kat, has asked for her help hosting a baby shower for a fellow Kindred bride which is something Isobel excels at so she agrees. This does require traveling from Earth to the Mother Ship which shouldn't be a problem until the pilot shows up at her door. An enormous mountain breathing muscular Dark Kindred who just happens to be the same male who's been appearing in her nightly sex dreams. Regardless, Isobel has had it with men especially after her failed marriage and wants nothing to do with the same species who attacked Earth leaving devastation and death for no reason.
Fate interferes when their shuttle gets hijacked by a totally different alien species who demand the couple cooperate with their demands or face the consequences of never seeing their family or friends again. All that while Isobel's past leaves her son vulnerable.

Most recent installment in the ongoing SciFi "Brides Of The Kindred" series that features another variation of Kindred warriors acquiring a mate. Big on adult content romance and light on story line plot, this story continues the cookie cutter "Mars Needs Women" formula.
I appreciated the main characters and addition of a highly functioning special needs child. Kudos to the author for including Brandon into this story line and his connection to Hail. Brandon in this story brings to mind the famous W.C. Field's quote "never work with children or animals." as he steals every scene he's included in.
At the core of my thoughts regarding this book is that for all practical purposes it's an angst filled core romance with few ongoing series plot tidbits. If that's the kind of story you like to read, this one will certainly fill that requirement. Unfortunately having read countless romances in all shapes and sizes I do demand more which is why I'm not singing it's praises from the hilltops.
Enjoyable read that certainly includes a few story line twists and turns that keeps me as a fan.

Bonding With the Beast is book two in the Kindred Tales by Evangeline Anderson.
It can be read as a stand-alone. An alien romance with some sci-fi drama.
The story is predictable and the romance is instant. We have the dream sharing which pretty much means when they meet; they will end up in bed pretty quickly, even if they have doubts, are scared or worried.
I enjoyed the single mother trope and adored her son. The Goddess has all three dream sharing in this one. Our Kindred warrior was so sweet with our heroines son. My heart melted. I did wonder how her ex-husband found them and why he didn’t file kidnapping charges against her since they weren’t divorced yet when she took her son and left.
The sex was really fast in this one and yes, its engineered with the kidnapping, but they should have followed up on this with another round later. They are in love so fast. It felt like they could have fallen in love with any Kindred or woman that came along.
Bonding With the Beast was an ok read. Enjoyable enough. It’s a fast erotic sci-fi romance read.

A highly enjoyable original new story to add to the Kindred series introducing some new awesome characters to the Kindred family and appearances by some beloved series characters, (the heroine, Isabella is good friends with Kat).
I highly recommend reading the series in order as storylines, characters, mesmerizing new worlds and planets all build upon each other weaving together a world its easy to lose oneself in (and why would any fan of this author or scifi romance adventure want to miss out on any of these great books).This book as with the others is a fresh, original plot that also weaves itself into the overall Kindred world and events going on there.
This is a fast paced novella that had me hooked from the start. A single mom is a great addition, she has a special needs child who is also gifted in many areas. Izzy has escaped an abusive husband who is also unable to accept his son's diagnosis or needs. Her first priority is her child Brandon.
Hail is a dark Kindred who has been is now living on the Mother Ship, he has his own trials to overcome as he adapts to having to emotions which were once a crime on his planet. New to socializing as well he is open, honest and forthcoming which is at times comical and heartwarming. Still he is a Kindred with all the protective alpha characteristics they carry (and 10% beast he tries to keep hidden and controlled).
A riveting awesome story that will pull at your heartstrings as well as your imagination. There is also an intriguing introduction to the next Kindred book "Surrendered".

Hail is a Dark Kindred who doesn't believe he will ever have a mate. Part of his DNA is Bolaxian Beast which can get quite enthralled with breeding lust. Believing he would hurt his mate he doesn't seek one out but when he is asked to escort human Isosbel Yates to the mother ship, his emotions want more from her. It is an unfamiliar feeling but he wants Isobel and to help raise her son. However Isobel believes she needs to put her son first after her ex was cruel to them both but mostly her autistic son. What happens though when their flight goes awry and Isobel sees how protective Hail is of her?
There is a lot more to this but didn't want to put to many spoilers out. I liked this one quite a bit. I thought Isobel was what every mom should be. Hail is intriguing and I liked how his back story unfolded. Another great read from the Kindred series.

Steam: 5/5 - Only 2 scenes but it's a novella so it's well balanced. There's an author's warning at the beginning that's pretty condescending but gets the job done.

I LOVED the hero in this one. He was so devoted to the heroine and her child and had such a sweet innocence about him. I think it was a tad overpriced at $2.99 but I still enjoyed it and will check out more of this writers work.

It’s been years since I read Evangeline Anderson but she’s just as amazing as I remembered her to be! This book is phenomenal for a few reasons: 1. She gave her fans what they had been asking for; more diversity in characters. 2. The buildup to the sex and the sex itself was sooo good! 3. It wasn’t too rushed or short like some novellas are.

Dark Kindred plus a touch of Rage
Love the Kindred Hail. Created not born trying to make amends helping out on the Mothership. He's never known a woman. Isobel is a single mom with an exceptional child Brandon. Very intelligent 7 year old who is on the spectrum. They all have been dream sharing. Add to this a couple of gray green aliens... Oh my ! Check out this unique novella in the amazing ongoing saga of the Kindred.

Apparently I read this book in 2019 and rated it just 3 stars. I have zero recollection of reading it before which is unusual for me.
After re-reading it today, I’d say this is still a 3 to maybe 3.5 star read for me. The book is a slightly long novella (approx. 180 pgs) and storyline is fast-paced which is fine with me, but it didn’t allow for much depth of emotions.
Hail is a fairly emotionless hybrid Kindred due to an emotional damper, and around Isabel and her son Brandon he feels comfortable enough to turn up his damper to allow more emotions. I found his quick acceptance of her autistic son to be sweet and a clear indication Hail is a good man.
Isobel has been through a lot with her ex-husband’s verbal and emotional abuse/taunts. Her son is her whole world and she’s unwilling to consider any romantic connection even though she’s attracted to Hail and apparently they’ve been dream sharing.
The author throws a lot of different plot points in a fairly short book. Some are more than a bit out there.
Overall, it’s an entertaining and easy read.

Quick Read
A race of Genetic Traders from beyond the stars. Hail is a challenging character to like. Way to serious and not enough character building before we're at the end of the story. I would consider this story for a quick beach reading. Not to much content or real romance to it but it can be a fun read.

Many of the same tired elements but as a novella, much less useless bullshit. Biggest shock was that six painful editing errors didn't jump off every other page.

Wow, wow, and wow!
This is the first time we meet a human female (Isobel) who already has a child from a previous failed marriage. Isobel and her Son Brandon do the best the can with what they have. Brandon is special. He is on the Spectum of being Autistic fans his bother Isobel is doing everything she can to protect bother herself and Brandon from an abusive ex-husband. What Isobel did not count on, was finding someone who is willing to not only try love, but become a dominant figure in her son's life.
Enter Hail. Formally known as Nine, he is a Dark Kindred like Six (Jax). Hail has been granted permission to try loving on The Mothership with other Kindred. He is still adjusting to having feelings and emotions. Hail has never wanted to feel for he fears he will hurt those around him. Hail is another Hybrid. He is half Kindred, and half beast (think Wulven). Hail does not want to lose control and let his Beast out to kill or breed. Killing is all he has ever known.
When Hail and Isobel and thrown together, they have an instant connection. But what makes this intriguing, is that Brandon also Dreams of Hail.
Brandon has trouble interacting with people and children. His extraordinary gifts means he has a technical mind; Hail is the exact person that Brandon needs as a male figure in is life. Although Hail and Isobel try to fight this connection, they soon realise that they were meant to be a happy little family with Brandon. I do find it extremely cute that Brandon is already asking for a sibling!
I quite enjoyed these two characters. My only downside is the plot line. It was a little stiff with the abduction and did not have any context to the story. It would have been better if they had a full story, a few more chapters and a different scenario they were forced into. Apart from this, it was quite an enjoyable read!

Bonding with the Beast is a uniquely phenomenal experience that will blow your mind and incinerate your heart. You will be left with the smoldering ashes of your resistance sizzling all around you. There is nothing more sensual or more enticing then a story that has a man who holds his beast at bay with a tentative hold while trying to not fall for a woman who makes his heart light up and his beast howl with desperate need. Beauty and the Beast will always be my favorite fairy tale no matter how old I get. Love is never wrong or devastating when the heart is completely invested and refuses to be denied.
This story delightfully couples my love for a well-written romance with my appreciation of the wonderful world of sci fi. It is such a blissful coupling that fully engages my mind while feeding my heart in a way that will leave its indelible mark. I highly recommend this and any other book written by this fantastic author. She is one not be missed!

This story and its author could easily earn every romance award ever created in my opinion. This is truly the gold standard of romance!
McKenzie Cartwight was absolute and undeniable perfection in her incredible narration of this marvelous story! Her performance was wonderfully flawless and truly inspiring. I hated for this audiobook adventure to end. It portrayed a brilliance and depth that you don’t see often enough, and the talent was through the roof! This was an overwhelming beauty that I welcomed for only a short time into my life, but its impact will be felt for a very long time to come.

A nice short novella which restored my faith in this series after the last book.
Two people the Goddess has decided to bring together but the way she did it was very funny. Little grey aliens from area 51 style.
Isobel is a divorcee whose ex-husband treated her badly but what was worse treated their special needs son as if he had nothing wrong. I have worked with children like Brandon and they need individual attention and their modified behaviour has to be taken into account.
Isobel has started her and Brandon’s life all over again, far from her crazed ex. She comes across as a very devoted, protective and sensible mother, the bond she shares with Brandon is showcased very strongly.
Isobel is old friends with Kat and plans to visit her on the Kindred mothership, she is instantly attracted and shocked when Hail arrives to shuttle her to the ship as she has been dreaming about him.
Hail is not a pure kindred, he has 10% Bolaxian Beast inside him. He fears emotion as it has been used as a means of control. Meeting the woman who he has been dreaming about is a scary shock. I loved the way he bonded with Brandon straight away without Isobel even being near.
When Brandon says he too has dreamt of Hail becoming his dad it freaked out both Hail and Isobel. All kudos to Ms Anderson for how well she incorporates Brandon and his special needs into this story so seamlessly that it feels just right.
This is my honest review of this book.

This story takes place in a future time not specified. There is a giant spaceship hovering above Earth. Inside it, is a species that is way bigger than humans. Many of them have special genes spliced into their genetics and Hale's genes have been spliced with a semi-intelligent creature that is focused on reproduting and fighting. With those gene's, he is a fearless fighter.
Down on Earth is Isabeth. She has a son that is on the autistic scale and while he can talk, he has issues with too much interaction. She is, naturally, very protective of him and refuses to allow him to be abused in any way if she can prevent it. For several years now, she and Brandon have been on the run because his father had a hard time, a VERY hard time, accepting who and what Brandon is.
Then, via a friend Cat, Isabel ends up going to the spaceship for a wedding of one of their mutural friends, Cat already having married one of the aliens and had several children by him. Isabel finds herself connected to Hail, and not only that, but Brandon takes an instant shine to him as well.
Going to the ship for that wedding turns out to be the biggest turning point of her life. Her life will never be the same. Now will Brandons or any of either of their circumstances.
I recommend this novella to anybody who likes science-fiction, inter-species contact and how two very different beings learn to deal with each other. For those that enjoy plenty of scenes in the bed, there is that as well.

Another outstanding adventure in the Kindred Bride series. Evangeline never disappoints with her stories. They're all full of passion, adventure and intrigue. The characters are truly outstanding, and storyline is original, but similar to the rest of the series. I love this novella as much, if not more than, the other books in the series. Definitely a must read!
Isobel is a single mother, which we've never seen in the series, to an amazing son. Her worse fear is her ex finding them and hurting him. When she's invited by Kat to help her host a baby shower for one of the other brides, she's stunned to see her son and the man she's been dreaming of sitting and talking when she comes out of her room. Apparently, her son has been dreaming of him as well.
And Hail, bless his heart, is battling with learning his emotions. On Z4, emotions were basically against the law and could cause serious repercussions. He's been dreaming of this female and boy child for weeks, but never expected to see them in person. There's an immediate connection between them, but his beast side scares him and he's not willing on chancing their safety.
After an incounter with another race doing research, they've bonded, but neither of them are aware of it...until Isobel's ex comes after her and her son.

This was my first by this author. It will grab you from the first sentence and hold you right till the end . Evangeline knows how to have a story full of drama, mystery and a fantastic storyteller. The narrator was great. First I heard from her . Her voice was clear , she played all the parts perfectly. You can tell each character by her tone of voice

Hail has been programmed not to have feelings. Hail is on the mother ship being looked after .With the smallest emotions they are punished. Hail has learned to not show any emotions. Hail has learned to keep his beast under control

I love the interaction between Isobel and Hail, and between Hail and Isobel's son, Brandon, even more. And what a fantastic choice for his name. He's a Dark Kindred who thinks he could never have a relationship with a woman due to the way his people not only attacked earth but the way he was born and raised. He is able to turn off his feelings with the turn of a dial. She is a single mother who is hiding from her ex-husband and she has a wonderful special needs son who seems to be special in so many other ways. When they are thrown into a situation where they must make serious choices that will impact their futures, doors are opened that the two of them are afraid to step through. But even more importantly, information is gained the could save the two species from extinction.
It is the sweet, steamy story I've come to expect when preparing to read a Kindred book. Only this time, there was a twist. We've never had a single mother before, and I was thrilled with the way the hero related to the young child in a way that even his own father couldn't. I read it from cover to cover without putting it down. I can't wait to see how they are going to survive what's coming.
