Wild Side #2

Tied to You

Rate this book
Miles Sorenson prides himself on his brutal honesty. Facts and logic are a hell of a lot easier to deal with than emotions. He’s got his career and a small, close-knit group of friends, and he doesn’t need nor want anything else. The total opposite of Quinn Barker, who doesn’t take life too seriously and thinks a good laugh can cure anything.

When Quinn takes Miles home, it’s supposed to be a one-time deal. Except they really click in the sack and end up spending the weekend together, enjoying each other's bodies as much as their company…to Miles’s dismay. Matters get even more muddled when, months later, they run into each other at the popular West Hollywood bar, Wild Side, and pick up right where they left off.

On the surface, Quinn and Miles are like oil and water, but the draw between them is undeniable. As their lives further entwine, they realize there’s more to their connection than the way they singe the sheets together.

But demons from the past have a way of catching up, and no matter how strong the link is tying Miles and Quinn together, the pressure may be enough to make it snap.

All the stars!!!

I really loved this one. I loved it so much more than the first one. It was one of those books were I lost myself and didn't come back up for air until I finished the book. Those are always the best kind of books.

I had been anticipating Miles book because I had a gut feeling that it was going to be really good. The gut was right! Miles and Quinn were just off the charts hot and had explosive chemistry. I lurved them together.

Miles is quite serious and keeps a lot of himself close to the chest. He's also has a big heart and is loyal to those he chooses to let in his circle. Not many are in that circle and he has a hard time adjusting to new people.
Quinn is quite the loveable funny guy. He has friends but doesn't see them often. He's quite the loner and his job helps him be that way. He goes out every now and then and hooks up and that is how he and Miles meet. What was supposed to be a weekend fling ended up being so much more.

It was quite the journey for these two men to let walls down and to let something that started out as something meaningless to turn into something neither man was willing to live without. Each other.

You can't help but fall in love with each man as they are falling in love with each other.

There was laugher, some tears, and that was from them and me. LOL

If you haven't read the first book, that's OK. This can be read as a stand alone. And you should. Read this I mean. It was awesome. Riley Hart has become a go to author for me.

Happy reading dolls! xx

I did not read the previous books in this series so I didn't know anything about Miles and Quinn going into this book.

It starts of with the two of them spending a weekend together and it has little flashbacks of how they met. In the beginning I felt like I had started reading in the middle of the book and had missed an important part, but after the little timejumps, things became clear to me.

tumblr_nl3rmu7Dxf1tgz4rco1_500.gif (500×282)

These two meet and hook up and what was supposed to be a one night stand, turns into a whole weekend spend together. This confuses Miles especially, because he doesn't normally do repeats. Sure the sex with Quinn is awesome, but that has never been a reason for a repeat before..

When the weekend is over, he walks away like he always does, but soon they come face to face again at a bar and Miles just can't resist going back for more.

P9oXkZn.gif (500×300)

Slowly these two get to know more about one another. Where Miles keeps a lot to himself, Quinn is more outgoing and he actually gets Miles to talk ans open op. These two have some things in common, they were both abandoned as children. But while Miles was adopted by a loving family, Quinn grew up in foster care. Quinn had a hard time growing up and it did leave some (invisible) scars, but he was still an all round happy kinda guy and I really liked that about him.

tumblr_n988v4pqjh1rw0e9go1_400.gif (365×273)

I had a harder time with Miles, especially in the beginning, but he grew on me the further the story got....guess he just needed some Quinn in his life....

As for the steam....I was suprised that my Ipad didn't catch fire !!! These boys like it rough and Quinn loves Miles dominating him.
"Get on your knees for me baby boy. I want to see my cock stretching those pretty lips of yours"

f6d6e541fed0af8133ad5a3995be0905.gif (500×280)

All in all, these guys were perfect for each other. Miles was especially struggling with some things and Quinn being there for him was everything he needed.....

All the stars

This book was everything I hoped for and then some more. I gave Gone for You, the #1 book in the series, 4 stars because it was good, but comparing it to this one, well it makes Gone for You only a 3 stars story. It just doesn't seem right to give this one only one star more. Tied to You was everything!

Miles and Quinn were perfect for each other! The chemistry is over the top, the banter, the sarcastic smart mouthed Quinn and the introverted with a huge soft heart that was Miles. I loved this book to the moon and back! So I will go with "all the stars" here.

It's been a while since I've read a book this good. It kept me glued to the pages. I lost a night's sleep on it and kept reading and reading because I couldn't get enough. They are so hot together and super attracted to each other. Wow! Just wow!

I was wondering what could go wrong between them, but when it happened I was so sorry for Quinn. He did something out of love and didn't even think about how Miles will take it.
I can understand Miles too, he felt betrayed, but somehow maybe it was shock more than anything else. He was so scared to admit he wanted a closure... And Quinn did this for him, he made it happen without knowing it could break Miles' heart. Well I was brokenhearted for Quinn, as I thought he was the one who suffered the most. No Miles, no friends, no one around him... It just broke my heart!!!

I felt the ending was a little rushed and I would have wanted the epilogue to be more focused on them than all of the guys, but I realized Riley wanted to prepare us for Chance's story. I don't think I will love it just as much as I did this one. Well we'll see as it's Chance and he is just like Quinn, funny and smart. So it might be just as good as this one. Looking forward to reading it!

Miles, a rich lawyer, control-freak, brutally honest, and very protective of his friends, meets Quinn, a bunch of sunshine, having learn to deal with his anger at life. They are different, but do share a few things together : they love sex, they don’t do relationship and they have not been raised by their biological parents.

There is good banter, the sex scenes are hot, the MCs are likable, even Miles, and their relationship builds nicely after a while. I really didn’t understand the tantrum Miles had by the end, but that was OK.

I liked it but didn’t loved it. Why ? I can’t put my finger on it. It just didn’t enthral me as much as other books from Riley Hart that I enjoyed a lot, such as "collide", "crossroads", "stay" or "Rock solid". Thus a feeling of frustration on my part :-(

Tied to You by Riley Hart is the second book in her Wild Side series and a spinoff her Crossroads Series. We first met Miles in Gone for You he was one of Oliver's and Matt's best friends. He was loyal but also came across as harsh. He tells it like it is and holds his cards close to his heart. Quinn was first introduced to us in Jumpstart he was Christian's best friend. He's the polar opposite of Miles. He likes to have fun and is constantly joking around.

At the beginning of the story Miles and Quinn run into each other at Wild Side. They both recognized each other from a weekend they spent together hooking up. Although Miles tells himself he's not interested, he finds himself unable to resist Quinn. What begins as just a casual hookup quickly turns grows into more. Their connection is not only in the bedroom - it's also emotional. They find that as different as they are their stories are similar. What ensues is an emotional story of one man letting down his guard and allowing love into his life and the other being there for him every step of the way.

My highlights:

-The characters. Both characters were well developed and showed character growth throughout the story (especially Miles).

-Narration. The story is told from dual POVs.

-Chemistry. Good lordy! Miles is a demanding top and Quinn loves to follow orders. This is the kinkiest story I've read by Hart.

-Pace. The pace is easy and quick. There are some flashbacks at the beginning - which I'm typically not a fan of- but I didn't find them distracting in this case. Those flashbacks were pivotal to the story.

-Secondary cast. I'm a huge fan of series in which the books are standalones. It's always fun to catch up with past characters and see how they're doing. We were also introduced to Miles' parents who were all kinds of amazing.

-The end. Miles at the end.... sigh...the way he took care of Quinn was uber romantic!

Can this be read as a standalone? Yes, but the first books are great so don't miss out! :)

Do I recommend this? Hells yeah! If you're looking for an emotional, fun, sweet, sexy story with a little bit of kink be sure to read this book then! 4.5 Stars ♥

I love it!
I didn't read the first book yet...i don't know the plot didn't seem to interest me enough (but but i'll read it! promise!).
So i really like this! I know Quinn from Jumpstart with Christian and sexy motocycle Beckett and i was expecting his book so much!
But in this book Miles was my favorite because he was such a strong guy. I like that he loves so much his surrounding. He loves with all his heart and that's beautiful to see.
Quinn was the fun guy and he was kind of perfect till the end :)
A reaally good book :)

Miles is a fascinating man: serious, intense, cocky. I wanted his story as soon as I read the teaser chapter at the end of book 1.

Tied to You didn't disappoint. I liked it more than the first book in the series. I love interracial romances, particularly when race isn't the primary focus.

Miles is a successful lawyer with two loving parents. Miles knows he was adopted, but he wouldn't trade his mom and dad for anything. Despite this, he lives in fear of being abandoned.

Quinn grew up in the system, but unlike Miles, he embraces joy. Quinn has a big personality; he's always joking and laughing. The banter between him and Miles made me smile.

This isn't a slow burn story. Quinn and Miles connect sexually first, and they are on fire! Their kinks match up perfectly. Miles has to be in control always. He's a dominant top, and Quinn is more than happy to let go and submit. All that dirty talk had me panting. SO SEXY!

I love lower angst, relationship-driven stories like this one. The men communicate and acknowledge their feelings, and Miles introduces Quinn to his friends and parents.

By the time I got to 88 percent I was feeling confident that we would skip the melodrama. But, damn it, Riley Hart isn't capable of writing a book without throwing in some kind of fight/break-up that feels entirely manufactured and unnecessary. I don't think I've read a book of hers where this didn't happen .

In Tied to You, Quinn tries to help Miles, but goes about it in the wrong way. Miles finds out and freaks out. The separation doesn't last long, but I was annoyed with the whole thing.

Fortunately, the rest of the story made up for Miles acting like a drama queen. The guys are super sweet with each other, and their love feels solid.

This book CAN be read as a standalone. I am really excited to read Chance's story next!

Entretenido.

The first third of this book was pretty darn repetitive, but the sex was Christina Aguilera levels of dirrty, so I persevered (with the light bondage, paddling, playful daddy/boy banter, rimming, and ovary scorching dirty talk, it was clearly a personal sacrifice). ;)

Thankfully, the book eventually became less repetitious and by then Miles' big heart and Quinn's kindness and sense of fun had worked their way under my skin and I was smitten with both of them. By the time Hart brought the romance and the complicated feels and yes, even the tears, I was a goner. <3

And, not to take away from the relationship between our MCs, but Hart has clearly poured her heart and soul into breathing life into the friendship between Ollie, Chase, Miles and Matt, and it shows. The guys bicker playfully, and don't always agree with one another, but you know that they would literally step in front of a bullet for each other. The relationship between these four (and now Quinn) is perhaps the strongest bond of its kind I've seen in an m/m romance novel in a really long time.

Crossing my fingers I don't have to wait too long for Chase's story - our most fun-loving West Hollywood Bro needs his HEA too!

5/5 Stars - Actually, can I give this book 6 stars?

Tied to You was the 5 star read I didn't see coming but will never forget. I read this book as a standalone, so I had no background knowledge of Miles and Quinn or any of the supporting characters going into this, but regardless, it was still fantastic!

The book was a little confusing to me in the beginning. There are quite a few flashbacks that don't read as flashbacks so it can get mildly confusing in the beginning if you don't really pay attention and know what's going on, but once you get past the first few chapters it's smooth sailing from there. I don't want to talk too much about the plot because the blurb really does say everything, but the magic in this novel isn't so much the plot itself, but rather the way it was written.

Quinn pulled me in immediately with his tragic backstory and effortless charm. Their similar pasts are part of the draw between these two characters because they understand eachother where nobody else has been able to. Quinn grew up in the foster care system while Miles was adopted by a loving family, but he's never been able to shake the feeling that he's missing this huge part of his life. Ending up in bed together may have been the plan, but Miles and Quinn never meant to share their real selves with each other. Between telling stories they'd never told anyone else and occasionally taking a break to eat, Miles and Quinn lit up the sheets and made each other feel alive.

This book just reminded me of why I love Riley Hart so much. This book was full of hot, steamy, (kinky) between the sheets fun with next-level chemistry between two unlikely lovers. 5+ stars for Tied to You! This one definitely comes recommended from me!

Miles is one of the original members of the three guys that became fast, trusting friends from the first book, "Gone for You". Miles was the serious one who was always honest...sometimes too much so...and fully focused on his career as an attorney. He didn’t have much time for, or much interest in a relationship. The friends have a standing Friday night date at "Wild Side" bar. This is where Miles meets Quinn. You will need to read the first book before this one as this story moves right in on the end of the hookup which began as a one-night stand and ended up continuing through the weekend...something that Miles never ever does. Quinn was just impossible for him to resist. He was sexy and cute, funny and easy going. They both kept telling each other that that was all it was, even though we all knew that it would become so much more. Quinn quickly became one of my favorite characters. He also became Miles' favorite everything...working his way under Miles’ skin and right into his heart passing all those pesky barriers that Miles had so carefully built and maintained. They found that they shared several things that helped to lead to Miles’s letting Quinn in and fully trusting him. There were a few things that kept me from liking the first book as much as this one, but none of them are present here. This truly felt like the type of story that fans have come to expect from this author. Can't wait for the next story.

Five beautiful fat Quinn and Miles stars

I love relationships where there is just as much talking and laughing as there is time spent on the smexy encounters and this book is a starring example.

You can tell, and Riley admits it in the acknowledgements, that these two men were written with love. They jump off the page in all their wonderful glory, Quinn with his smart mouth, Miles with his unfailing honesty.

I loved every bit of this story, as I did book one in the series (and the prologue before that) because they feel real, the friendship between the four men at the heart of the setting, those who surround them, and the world they inhabit, could be just round the corner at that bar table.
It reminded me very much of St Elmo's Fire, one of the best films of the 80s and also of my own bunch of school mates who've now been taking the mickey out of each other for almost 40 years.

Beautiful cover too. I loved that this was a romance focused on an inter racial relationship with a man of colour at the centre. I wish there were even more novels which focused away from the typical white guy heroes.

4.25 stars

So this one, for me, ended up only being slightly better than the first book. I thought Miles and Quinn had a better connection, both sexually and romantically than Matt and Oliver did in the first one (at least, that's how it felt for me) but there still was, at times, an almost structured way to the writing of this story.

I don't know quite how to explain what I mean by that except for maybe...it felt like there wasn't anything new or exciting that really set this story apart from the first one. Yes, the sex was hotter than in the first book (and the dominant/submissive role these two had in the bedroom was hot as fuck, I loved that, and I gotta say I loved Miles calling Quinn "baby boy" although I'm sure many probably won't like that) but there was nothing, plot wise, and plot wise in regards to the developing of the relationship, that felt all that different, so that's why I gave off .75 stars to this book, because it felt pretty predictable at times.

Enjoyable and fun to read? Hell yes. Hot? Whew fuck yes, I enjoyed the sex in this one. (There were a few of the sex scenes that felt like they were rushed and skipped over just because the author didn't want to write a full sex scene, like in the first one, but they were a lot fewer, with a lot more hot scenes than those kind, that I was able to get over it). I also think this is worth is just for Miles and Quinn, who are not only hot together but adorable as well.

But do I think there's anything so amazing about this that it would deserve 5 stars? Nah, not really. I would expect a good, fun read, but not anything particularly amazing and "blow my mind" awesome about it. Which is fine, not every book has to be a favorite.

This was definitely better than the first, imo, and I think its definitely worth a read.

Miles Sorenson was adopted at birth by a couple who fell in love with him at first sight. Someone had thrown their infant into the trash and walked away. And though he's a successful attorney in partnership with his dad, something keeps him from feeling as if he deserves his success. He has three close friends, two of whom have been besties since childhood and one who is the partner of one of his besties. They meet each Friday night at Wild Side without fail. Miles never tells them his innermost fears, something he doesn't even like to admit to himself--why was he thrown away?

When Miles spots Quinn flirting with him from across the room at Wild Side, he takes the sexy guy up on his offer. Right from the beginning, they both realize there's more here than cock and ass and when they emerge from their second go-round, they exchange numbers.

This is a very slow burn romance. In fact, its very well done and checked off all my boxes for a terrific story. Their chemistry is great, each character is well-developed, and though Quinn is the more lovable of the two (to me), Miles is a complex character well worth every moment on page.

Of course there's conflict, a bad split that's due to Quinn's actions and Miles's reactions to it, but they are so entwined emotionally, forgiveness is almost a given and there's a very satisfying HEA. There's also some smokin' hot sex scenes as the two let their own "wild side" out in the bedroom. Characters I will remember for quite some time. Definitely recommended.

5 + Stars

I really liked Quinn when I met him in Jumpstart, but I absolutely fell in love with him in Tied to You. Quinn makes his way into his well-earned spot as one of my all time favorite characters. He amazes me that with everything he's been through, he is so open and outgoing with sharing his story. He's mostly come to terms with what he's suffered in his past and although he is still a bit broken, he's mostly healed. He was sweet, loving and so very funny. I wasn't as sure of Miles, but as he opened up and I got to know him better, I fell in love with him, as well.

I'll be honest, I'm not a fan of BDSM, and this book contains light touches of the theme that just served to make the spark and sex between Quinn and Miles that much hotter. I devoured this book in one day. Once I picked it up, I absolutely couldn't put it down.

I loved the story and I especially loved both Quinn and Miles' backstories. They were intriguing, and yet so very heartbreaking. The story is well-written and paced well. It hooked me from the first sentence and never let go. It's mostly an easy and light read, but Riley managed to break my heart and have me sobbing as well. This book was packed with sweetness, family, love and smoking hot sex. I loved getting to revisit the Wild Side guys and I can't wait to read Chance's story!! Extremely enjoyable and highly recommended!!

4.5 star Review by The Blogger Girls.

Miles is one of the original trio (turn foursome) of friends we met in Gone for You made up of Chance, Oliver (and Matt). He was the serious one who always honest to a fault and focused on his career as an attorney who didn’t have much time for or interest in a relationship. The friends have a standing Friday night meet up at Wild Side bar, which is where Miles hooked up with Quinn.

This story jumps right in on the end of that hookup which began as a one-night stand and ended up continuing through the weekend, something that Miles never does. But, Quinn is hard to resist, and it is easy to see why. He was fabulous! He was sexy and cute, funny and easy going. As can be expected, the two continue to hook up, both telling each other that’s all it is, even as it is clear as day it will inevitably become more.

Miles and Quinn had fantastic banter and great chemistry. Seriously, Quinn is one of my favorite new characters, and I fell in love with him even quicker than Miles. He managed to get under Miles’ skin and past barriers that had Miles telling Quinn things he hadn’t shared with anyone else (other than his closest long-time friends). They shared a similar childhood which was the beginning of their connection. It was that past that led to Miles’s issues with letting someone in and trusting them not to abandon him. And while they hit a snag along the way, it didn’t take long for them to overcome.

There were a few things that kept me from loving the previous book quite this much, but they were not present here, and this truly felt like the Riley Hart story that I’ve come to expect. While I am glad Oliver and Matt’s story has been told, I am thrilled that we are moving on to the others. I’m looking forward to the next installment and hoping the sexy dancer Chance will meet his match next!

The relationships that form when characters are least expecting it, where they don’t realize it’s happening and that turn them upside down—those are some of my favorites. What I loved about Miles and Quinn was that even though they started off as a hookup, there was always a connection between them and their relationship wound up developing over time, becoming more and more intense. This throws Miles for a loop since he has a very hard time trusting people he doesn’t know, and the feelings he has are difficult for him to reconcile.

There’s absolutely no question that Miles and Quinn have scorching hot chemistry together from moment one; their intimate scenes can be raw yet with a touch of sweet, then ranging back to naughty with a bit of kink. It’s enough to have readers reaching for their fans and ice packs because their heat level is at the top of the charts. But they don’t only have chemistry in the bedroom—I hate to use a cliché, but they honestly do fit together like two puzzle pieces, complementing each over perfectly. The banter between them held my rapt attention, and at times had me laughing out loud.

Miles and Quinn have a lot in common, at least to a certain point. This makes it easy for them to understand each other, and is also a factor in how comfortable they feel together. While there is some tension that comes and goes in the story (primarily from Miles’s uncertainty and hesitation at opening up to someone outside his small, tight inner circle), for the most part it is relatively low angst. There is a bit of conflict between them near the end, but other than that the story is more about the development of their relationship and Miles coming to trust and both of them coming to love each other.

I did have a small issue with the source of the conflict as it is not explained how some information that comes to light was obtained, and given the nature of the information it was like a sign blinking at me saying “how did that get uncovered?”. But other than that, I felt the story was powerful and was fully character driven—and those characters were so…REAL, strong and well developed to where I was fully invested in their lives and the outcome of the story.

Tied to You was a 4.5-star read for me, and I do highly recommend this story to any M/M romance fan. It can be read as a standalone, but once you’ve read it you’ll find yourself wanting to go back and read the other stories that the supporting characters have appeared in so you can find out their tales as well. This book is meant strictly for readers 18+ for adult language and explicit M/M sexual content.

We met the controlled, serious Miles in "Gone For You", Riley Hart's Wild Side series, book one. Miles is one of three friends that grew up together, and have stayed close friends into adulthood. Oliver had his HEA with Matt in book one, and Chance is the third friend of the solid trifecta. In this story, Riley shows us why Miles is so rigid and controlled. He has a tough, impenetrable armor he's kept wrapped close around his heart. The only people he has let into his life are his parents, and his two best friends. He never dates. He doesn't stay over with a date, and he never goes back to the same guy twice. That is, until he meets Quinn.
Quinn is happy, light hearted, a complete opposite to Miles, and has caught the closed off lawyer's eye. They share an entire weekend together, which is something Miles definitely doesn't do. Ever. Quinn has his own secrets, and a reason why he never sleeps well at night.
When these two men come together, sparks fly, and the air crackles with their combines energy. Both men are compatible in their sexual preferences, and shared painful past. Quinn challenges Miles, and breaks through the tough shell Miles has ensconced his heart in. The problem is this: Can Quinn help Miles overcome his need for distance, or will he end up pushing Miles even further away? Can Quinn help gain Miles' trust, and help him work through the deep rooted painful past?
What I loved about this book is the strength of friendship between the men that meet each and every Friday night for drinks, fun, laughter, and dancing. It's an unbreakable bond that grew from childhood. As each man falls in love, and struggles with bringing their lover into the tight circle of friends, a new layer is peeled back to expose the depth of their character. Friends forever translates to unconditional acceptance.
Tied To You is well written, the sex scenes are off the chart hot,and Riley Hart has the uncanny ability to always hit me right in the feels.

What a total thrill this book was to read!! From cover to cover, there isn't a word that isn't perfection. It's a rare treasure when an author writes a book that begins with a bang and sends us out with an explosion. Riley gives us that here. There isn't one page that doesn't contain something every reader dreams to experience in a book.

Miles and Quinn are my new favorite couple. WOW! They are so much damn fun together and their banter is the ultimate treat here. I shed more tears from laughter in this story than I ever remember enjoying while reading. Truly, these two share some of the best dialogue I've ever read and it will keep you in stitches throughout the entire book. Miles wants SO badly to not be pulled into Quinn's playfulness and charm. Of course, he never has a true chance because Quinn is just a bundle of exuberant liveliness there isn't a person that would be able to resist him. And how darn adorable is tough and hard-headed Miles as he just can't help being drawn to Quinn in every way.

911 ALERT: Call all surrounding fire departments because HOLY HOTNESS these boys are sexy as all hell. They have a chemistry that ... damn ... it is scorching HOT. They seriously singe the pages and leave ashes in their wake. Some extreme sexiness ahead!

And as if that all isn't enough to entice you, their story is perfectly written. Well paced and so perfectly suited for the combination of both MC's lives. It's interesting and heartwarming. This book is just an all-around pleasure to read. AND...let's not forget the crossover with Christian from Jumstart!!! That was a very nice treat as well!! I hadn't been aware of this before beginning this story.

I would most definitely recommend this book to one and all romance enthusiasts. Happy Reading to All!!

3.5*

Sometimes the person you think is the complete opposite of you turns out to be more like you than you'd imagine. That's the case with Miles and Quinn. Miles is a buttoned-down, brooding, serious lawyer, a complete contrast to happy-go-lucky Quinn. But as these two let down their guards and got to know each other, it turned out they had more in common than they thought.

I love vulnerable, damaged heroes and both Miles and Quinn fit this, each in their own way. Learning about Quinn's background was heartbreaking. And while Miles' upbringing was quite different, there was always the question in his mind about how he ended up where he did, and that impacted his life more than he wanted to acknowledge.

Quinn and Miles had great chemistry and I thought they were so good for each other. I enjoyed their banter, but did get a little tired of the joking and teasing after a point. I wanted more of "them", not just the silliness and superficial stuff, especially after they decided to make something of what was between them. My heart hurt for them both at one point, but I'm glad Ms. Riley didn't drag the situation on. I really loved when they finally opened up to each other and things got real.

I actually really loved both Quinn and Miles, and loved all the supporting characters. Loved the pacing, the sex, the humor...but something in the writing felt off. It was too heavy handed. Like we were being told over and over how seemingly simple situations were so meaningful. The witty banter was a bit overdone, the emotions a bit overly dramatic. I just...ugh. It would have been five stars if things had just been scaled back a smidgeon. Not to mention the half-a$$ed Daddy kink. No, Ma'am. Unforgiveable. Miles continually called Quinn baby boy and mentioned he loved it when Quinn called him Daddy. Quinn called Miles Daddy once, then Sir, then it seems like he forgot. Say what?? What are we really doing here? Miles called him baby boy till just about the last page. Don't play with my emotions. So...3.5.

Tied to You, the second book in the Wild Side series, focuses on the 2nd friend in a group of three, Miles. I wasn't impressed with Miles in Gone for You, Oliver and Matt's story. He was arrogant, standoffish and surly but I knew there was a story there and I wanted to know it.

Quinn is from Riley's book Jumpstart in the Crossroads series. He is Christian's best friend. I was very intrigued by him and I am glad he got his own story. I love when series crossover like that. He is sweet, compassionate and gentle but he is broken. He can't sleep alone at night and I wanted to know why.

Miles and Quinn have fantastic chemistry right from the start. It was evident from page one. Sparks fly no doubt. The story moved along well but it took me some time to connect to them. I just didn't understand Miles at first but as always, Riley's writing pulled me into the book. Once I learned more about both of their backstories I was then emotionally invested. I really loved Quinn. He had such a big heart and I just wanted to hug him. Once I understood Miles better I fell for him too. By the time I was finished Riley had me rooting for both and anticipating Chance's story.

I received an Arc of this book for an honest review.

Tied to My Heart

I’m going to preface this entire review by being completely honest – I detested one of the main characters, Miles, pretty much from the moment of his introduction in Gone for You, so this wasn’t an easy read for me. I had my own preconceived notions and just couldn’t see how this guy was going to be redeemed in my eyes. Quinn was first introduced in Jumpstart, where he immediately made an impact with me, and I was thrilled that he was getting his story, but disappointed that it was going to be with Miles. I’m sure glad I didn’t let that dissuade me from jumping in and reading it!

Tied to You is book two in the Wild Side series, and while I am admittedly a fangirl to the nth degree of Ms. Hart’s writing, I think this is far and away the best book I’ve read written by her under any pseudonym!

A one night stand turned into an entire weekend, which then turned into an obsession for both men. A strong storyline delving into the vagaries of foster care and adoption, I liked that the plot took a very realistic view into what is usually glossed over by most authors. It created a stronger bond for me with both characters.

Witty banter made a fairly fast-paced story that much more enjoyable. Quinn doesn’t have a whole lot of filter between brain and mouth, and the dialogue created from such instantly drew me in.

Written in present tense with first person dual POV, the descriptions of each scene are vivid and easily imaginable, creating a stronger character world. The secondary characters are many and varied, and every one of them adds subtle (and not so subtle) nuances that enhance the overall story. The chemistry is simply beyond description. The passion, the kink, the power exchange, each of these combined into ereader-melting scenes. Yet I was still reticent to like Miles.

Then this hit me: the character growth was exponential, and it was through this that I realized I not only liked Miles, but had fallen for him. I was super angry with the author for making me like him when it started to emerge, I freely admit! However, watching (I make mental movies with every story I read) as his façade cracked, revealed the absolute terror and pain hiding in his heart made it impossible not to fall in love with him. By the end, not only had Miles been fully restored to a good guy, he'd been transformed into a hero, the one who always looks out for everyone else and stands as their safe harbor in a storm. I was flat blown away by Miles's redemption, my own change of heart, and the insanely talented writing skills that created it.

I read through my tears as Quinn struggled through his damage, and ugly cried as the story resolution was preparing to reveal itself. Quinn and Miles took my heart, shattered it, and put it back together, patched up but fuller for the experience. If it were possible to rate this at higher than five stars, I would most certainly do so!

I voluntarily read an ARC copy of this book for Divine Magazine from the author with hopes for but no obligation to provide a review.
