Sweet Time in Seconds is the 11th book in the Sweet Cove Mystery series. By J.A. Whiting. This is such a delightful, feel-good, magical mystery series. Even though it is a murder mystery, it is almost a comfort read given the time spent with the sweet Roseland sisters, their close relationship with Chief Martin, the endearing Mr. Finch, and the wise cats, Circe and Euclid.
The mystery is this addition of the series is also quite intriguing. Courtney has a bike accident that necessitates a trip to the dentist. A couple of the sisters have a bad feeling and can’t pinpoint why. When the dentist doesn’t show up for Courtney’s appointment, she and Angie have an eerie, unsettled sensation and decide to check on the husband and wife dental duo, only to find that tragedy has struck. This mystery has a few layers and multiple suspects. The slow, but compelling unraveling of the mystery is enough to keep the reader turning the pages and the double whammy at the end will definitely tug your heartstrings.
Sweet Time in Seconds has an interesting mystery, a poignant, but reflective tone and a satisfying, tender conclusion. I look forward to carrying on with this series and enjoying more of these entertaining, charming stories.
The crime solving team from Sweet Cove has another case and not solving it quickly could mean tragedy for a close family friend.
When married dentists are murdered and another body is found in one of the victim's car, it is the beginning of a "whodunit" that will keep you guessing !
I enjoyed the book and love the way the series has evolved. The addition of friends and the sometimes quirky (or guilty!)guests at the B&B is always entertaining. There is romance (Mr. Finch & Betty are sweet!), humor, action, mystery and a paranormal element that makes the series a little edgy - but just enough to be a part of the mystery and it enhances the series! And of course, we can't leave out the cats!
I'm looking forward to the next adventure in Sweet Cove!
I love these stories especially the recipes at the back of books. I have now made one and have quite a few more to try. I look forward to next adventure
The sisters are all feeling something is in the air. They don't know what it is, but it is an energy that can be felt but can not be recognised. A ghost appears but then disappears, two bodies are found. Murder victims. Mr. Finch feels the energy too. Whose going to be in danger? The girls, some of their friends? Need to read to find out. I could not put this book down.
What a wonderful series the Sweet Cove Mysteries are! J A Writing has a real talent, with captivating storylines and delightful cast of characters in every book. So many series begin to lose their appeal after a few books, but the charming characters in the Sweet Cove Mysteries combined with excellent writing and editing make each new book an adventure to look forward to. I can't wait to get the next book!
..... in this their 11 th mystery. It is best if you are new to the series, to read it from book one, as characters and events develop throughout their stories.
This story starts with the sisters being apart as Jenna enjoys time with Tom. Courtney however, has a bad day.
Courtney's accident means a trip to the dentist, something Courtney has trouble with, so Angie goes along for support. Angie and Courtney both feel uneasy in the outer office, with no sign of either dentist, they investigate, calling Chief Martin when they get overwhelmed whilst outside the house.
The Chief arrives to find 3 dead and a new case opens up for Chief Martin and the Roselands.
There are quite a few characters that pop up. The story for me was a little slow in the flow. I was also a little disappointed with the ending having figured out the killer early on and hoping for some twist in the tale.
In the story a loved one nearly dies bringing deeper reflection and depth to the main characters. This time the boyfriends and others make a reappearance which was wonderful to see.
Overall the story continued the Roseland sisters' stories and was a great read.
The Sisters get the “feelings” and a smell just within the first few paragraphs. These then lead to the discovery of the double murder of an elderly man and wife. Everyone involved in solving the case has to sift out the lies from the truth, and the truth is well hidden.
It is a surprise and not much of a surprise when the murderer is uncloaked! Greed, greed and more greed is the motive as it is in more than 50% of murder cases.
Josh and Angie begin plans for renovating the third floor of her house into two apartments. One will theirs as a home as well as a cabana at the resort as their “away place” for retreats, vacations or just times to be alone.
Now we just wait for them to set the date for their nuptials!
20 stars!!!!!! Angie and her sisters, Mr. Finch are incredibly remarkable. Two new dentists moved to Sweet Cove to set up a practice doing well, but something wasn't right about the situation. Angie couldn't figure out, when Courtney had to go to the dentist for a chipped tooth to get fixed. That is when all heck broke loose, in Sweet Cove. Chief Martin had a real rough case that everyone in the gang had got involved in to help. You have to read this book. I stayed up all night to finish this book. WOW, YOU WON'T BE DISAPPOINTED!#!!!!!,
Good book! Worthy of reading, interesting story and charachters
This book had a cast of main characters that were well developed as well as several characters that had smaller, though interesting, characters that were good additions. The mystery that blended across two states with numerous twists and turns keeps the reader engaged in the story. Even the side stories by the lesser characters of their own personalities made the reader laugh or wonder if it was a clue to the mystery. I never like to put so much specific information in a review, just enough so you can decide whether or not to read it for answers and details.
This one was bit more of a violent crime. I thin they author may be running out of ways to kill people.
Amazon synopsis; When Courtney and Angie Roseland wait in the dentist's office early one morning, they begin to experience feelings of alarm. This series just keeps improving, volume by volume.
The Roseland Sisters, Tom, and Mr. Finch are set off on another murder case when a trip to the Dentist goes awry. The Dentists never show...why? Well, Angie and her Sister go to try and find them, worrying about a possible car accident...it's murder and there will be more to discover.
The entire cast is back and I was glad to reunite with them. I love the gentle interaction between all.
If you haven't discovered this cozy series yet, or any other by Ms. Whiting, you are missing a darn well written set of books.
I did not think that I was going to be so addicted to this series - but I am. At the beginning, I was thinking I was thinking that how could so many books keep up the number of murders...but J A Whiting has done so most assuradly.
The characters are good and each personality 'grows' and is not a static character. I like that each mystery is pretty unique and well plotted out.
Always a pleasure to find a series that holds your interest, and pulls you through the 'knothole' from one book into the next.
Angie goes with Ellie to dentist to get her tooth fixed, the dentist never shows up. The girls and Mr Finch are called to sight of double homicide possible triple. The dentist and her husband are found dead in their house and there's another body in the trunk of the Lamborghini. There are so many questions about the couple why did they move to Massachusetts, were they having problems, they were spending a great deal of money on cars, why were they killed. Angie keeps having the feeling Chief Martin is in danger. Really good story.
This is an enjoyable paranormal mystery. You care about the characters and what they are going through to solve the murders. The main characters are the Roseland sisters and their dear friend, Mr. Finch. They all have different paranormal ability that help them solve the murders. Also there are two special cats who help them. The book is very entertaining and moves at a fast clip. I definitely recommend this book.
I have now completed the entire series. I liked the fact that every book in the series explained everything. Therefore for those not reading them in order still wasn't lost. However I'm glad I read from book 1 to book 11. Can't wait until book 12 comes out. Well written, easy to follower and just really enjoyed this series.
I enjoyed this story because the characters are a family with much love and respect for one another, and the mystery is logical. Yes, the treacle level can be a bit much, but this is preferable to an overabundance of snark. The paranormal element is very light; the read is also light and undemanding.
This installment of the Sweet Cove Mystery series is more intense than the earlier ones. All four sisters as well as Mr. Finch are aware of the danger that is present. I loved the interactions and was surprised by who was responsible.
The girls and Mr. Finch are back on the case. This time they are helping Chief Martin find the murderer of two dentists and their dental hygienist. A great read, that you won't put down until the end.
A wonderful series of love, friendship and murder. Reading each installment of this series is a visit with old friends. A Victorian B&B, sweet shop, bakery, lovely sea side setting, what more could any reader ask for...maybe a glass of lemonade and a cozy chair!
This series is a nice, light cozy mystery series with paranormal elements. I like the depth of the character development in these. So far, the author has delivered clear plotlines that are logical and easy to follow.
I have enjoyed all the books in this series. Each sister has a chance to use their special talents, as before they are in the middle of another murder, but this time someone special to them come face to face with death.
I love this sisters, Mr. Finch and all the boy friends and Tom. I hope that you'll write more stories with these characters. There's always a murder but it's never gory details. I hope to read more of your future books. Thank you for entertaining me.
I really enjoy this series watching the sisters grow and evolve has been just wonderful and this story seemed to have them all growing their powers greatly.
A great mystery solved with a good bit on intuition and supernatural flair.
I chose this rating because this book held my attention so much. I so enjoy reading about all the sisters and their adventures. Of course, Mr. Finch is always a big part of the story. Just totally enjoyed the book. Look forward to another sweet cove adventure.
Every book in the series causes me to feel closer to the characters, and more a part of the family. I catch myself watching for the cats when someone new appears to discover what kind of person they are. Yes, i am a believer.
Just looking to curl up and read a light mystery with some endearing characters, then this is it. Once again the four sisters with Chief Martin and Mr. Finch are off solving a triple homicide.
More mystery romance and intrigue surround the sisters and Mr. Finch.
I think Janet said it best when she said “If I’m going to inherit the skills, could they please come with an instruction manual!” Discover the answers for yourself by continuing to read and enjoy.
Amazing! Love the characters, the scene descriptions, and the storyline. They all come to life for me! I can see, in my mind, all of the characters and scenes!! Very good writing!
This book gets just a bit more unbelievable yet it is interesting enough to keep reading. I enjoy following the romances of the Roseland sisters, and the friendships they have with others.
