WHAT IF YOU WOKE UP TO FIND THAT YOU WERE NO LONGER HUMAN?

When ex vampire hunting knight, Sir Torrent Finngarick, is hired by D.I.T., he's partnered with one of a pair of near-feral, New Forest elf twins who also happens to be his mate. Unfortunately Sher O'Malley made a pact with her twin when they were children that they would never accept a mate.

After rigorous training with Black-Swan-friendly demons and Black Swan knights emeritus, they're assigned to Dublin because there's an interdimensional stream portal somewhere in the vicinity of Trinity College and Temple Bar that's been causing havoc for centuries.
Just when Sher is succumbing to the inevitable pull of mating, she and Torn chase a trespasser through the portal underneath St. Patrick's. The wild redheaded beauty catches the demon's eye. And disappears.

Life is rarely simple for most people. It is even more complex for those who work for the Order of the Black Swan. Lives can be disrupted, put on the line and loves can be torn away from each other. These chosen few fight for their dimension, for the Order and for love. This is another wild ride into the professional and personal lives of the Order.
I love this book. The established characters are familiar yet I'm pleasantly surprised with their growth in their relationships and within themselves. The new characters add a richness to the mythology of the Loti Dimension and the Black Swan universe. You make me feel like David Copperfield, “Please ma’am , I want some more.”
This is an exciting and frustrating book. Be prepared to read this book in one sitting. I couldn't put it down.

I’m rather shocked that Finngarick ends with a cliffhanger that sets up the next book. His story is unresolved. It feels like the book ended in the middle of his story. I still want to see how it all comes out, so I am on to the next one: Irish War Cry. I hope the remaining related series books don’t end like that. It feels like a cheap trick by the author to get you to buy the next book when the one you just finished was not a complete story. The Black Swan saga has been riveting—there should be no need for cliffhangers to keep readers engaged. In fact, if the earliest books ended in cliffhangers, I might not have enjoyed this great series. You can probably tell—not a fan of surprise cliffhangers.

It is still a Black Swan drama and worth the read. Torrent “Torn” Finngarick is a great damaged hero who you want to see make good after his past history with Z-team and some humiliating failures. The twins, Sheridan and Shivaun O’Malley, seem to have the potential to be kick-ass heroines. I hope we will see that in Irish War Cry.

Finngarick, The Order of Black Swan Departement of Interdimensional Trespass D.I.T. , is the second book in the spinn-off series od The Order of Black Swan.
This is Torn and Sheridan´s story. Their story is interwoven with other characters, more later on.

Knight Sir Torrent Finngarick - Torn - works as a floater for the Order. Means, he has to jump in when a team needs a replacement.
He´s the former leader of the team of misfits- Z Team. Now he has no team, no family, no roots. Secretly he´s glad to be hired by Rosie Storm, the new director of aforementioned departement.
One look at his new partner Sheridan and he knows his fate is sealed.
Sheridan O´Malley is the twin sister to Shivaun, both grew up in the New Forest and are master archer. They too were hired by Rosie and paired up with knights.
And Rosie, oh how I love Rosie; quirky, eager, confident with rightful high self-esteem Rosie. I can´t enough sing her praises.
I loved meeting old friends and new acquaintances.
This story has it all—tension, angst, suspense and heartbreak. I've smiled, laughed, cried and was angry at some point. It is not often I feel so connected to the characters, but Victoria Danann has accomplished just that. I love the story, the characters and the words. I can´t say how much.
And now I can´t wait ´til the next book releases.

Finngarick by Victoria Danann put a smile on my face. It´s a heartwarming, beautiful read, a bittersweet story. I love Torn and his story so much !!
I highly, Highly recommend Finngarick and wish I could give more than 5 stars.
Thank you so much, Victoria Danann !!

3.5* but will round up to 4 because, after all , it WAS good and is a Black Knights spin -off.

My main issues with this book was not with writing, storylines or characterization - never that. I love Victoria Danann stories and have been a devoted fan ever since reading My Familiar Stranger. My issues with this book are mainly with what I found to be misrepresentation and they are as follows :
1. It is obviously a part 1 in what appears to to be a 2 parts book, which is not mentioned anywhere.
2. It ends with a cliffhanger - again, if it would be made known that it is part 1, such ending would be acceptable. Slightly maddening, but acceptable. As it is, it was very frustrating.
3. Now it comes down to mathematics : while the title of the book is Finngarick and it supposed to be about Torn and Sheridan, they are only featured in around 20 % of the book and don't even meet till 65 % in to the story. There are additional background glances, but most of the book is about Rosie setting up D.I.T.
Don't get me wrong - I loved reading it, and can't wait for the next book, but for me the title was misleading and did not truly represent the content, hence the rating.

I am a HUGE fan of Victoria Danann's "Order of the Black Swan" books. HUGE! I am prefacing my review with the fact that I absolutely loved this book. Loved it. However, I have to say it really threw me.

First, the title indicates that it would be Finngarick's story in the D.I.T. series. Okay. The reality of it was that more than 3/4 of the book was about Rosie, her personal growth and the multitude of challenges in forming, defining and putting together the D.I.T. team. Now, don't get me wrong. I thoroughly enjoyed the whole process and Rosie's unique spin on things and growth. There were many humorous parts which involved Rosie. A part I had to laugh out loud about, as a child of the 60's, was about a music demon and the havoc that was created in the 60's. And, of course, Rosie's interactions with her husband, Glen, her father (a demon) and Lally (an angel) were just priceless. However, we don't really get the low down on Finngarick and his story until well, well into the book. More like towards the last 1/4 of the book. Second, when it is really starting to get into Finngarick's story, what happens? A cliffhanger! Oh, I really hate cliffhangers! Sigh.

Don't get me wrong. I still have to say that I loved this book. Rosie is a joy to read about. But, IMHO, it was a little misleading.

I can't wait for the next one!

I really do believe this is the Best Book Ever so far!!! There is brilliance in every word written in this book. The attention to detail makes this book so great. The characters are amazing. I am so proud of Rosie. I love that she scares Kellareal. I feel like I am reading about my immediate family and friends. I do feel a little like I was left me hanging a bit, BUT, I also believe this needed to be left that way. I cant wait for The War Cry!!! Lyric has me nervous as to which way he will go. I like him better than Deliverance! I also loved where Glen shifted into wolf when he got jealous! Gave me tingles. I have always been a Big fan of Sir Engle Storm. But Torn Finngarick is giving him a run for the title. WOW! What a sexy elf! Getting to know new things about Rosie just makes the book better. Quote from book: Rosie growled loud enough to rival Glen’s wolf, turned herself into a small tornado and whipped papers around the room before disappearing. OMG So good!!! I actually pictured the small tornado!
As I have come to expect from a Victoria Danann book. She made me Laugh out Loud, Snort, and Cry. There is action and Adventure in this book. A little suspense also. Some very sexy scenes. I love the antics that Rosie gets up to. I also like how she knows when to get serious and buckle down to get work done. We get introduced to the twins Sheridan and Shivaun. If you are looking for a fantastic read, Please get this book. I could not put it down. I read it straight thru to the end. I had to read it again, just because it is so very good! From a Forever Fan... Pam James

The twins are so night and day, I love it. It's amazing how one's life can go from worse to the best ever in a matter of moments and then be 'snatched' just as fast. I will always love Deliverance and to get more insight into him was absolutely amazing but Finngarick's story is beyond amazing and well he is an elf so there's that.

Finngarick is the first full length novel in Victoria Danann’s new spin-off series Black Swan D.I.T. If you are a fan of the original Black Swan, this is a fabulous extension of the characters we have come to know and love as well as new characters who are introduced as the next group of hunters for Black Swan.

This book, while a completely new story, does an amazing job of giving new readers enough back story that they can jump directly into the Black Swan universe. Fans of the series will enjoy a walk down memory lane. Most of the story comes to us through the perspectives of Glen and Rosie. Glen is Sovereign of the Jefferson Unit while his wife, Rosie will be heading up the newly created Department of Interdimensional Trespass which will be keeping the dimension safe from wanderers from other worlds.

While Rosie and Glenn tell the tale, This book is truly Torn Finngarick and Sheridan O’Malley’s tale. Torn, formerly of the infamous Z-Team, has been stuck on floater status since his team disbanded, filling in where needed. It’s a difficult and thankless position as he never truly gets to connect with a team or a partner. He needs something to live for, and Rosie’s offer to join her new team of D.I.T. Hunters has captured her interest.

Elf twins Sheridan and Shivaun O’Malley have spent their entire lives running wild, hunting and doing as they please in a place where the modern world has never touched. When they are approached by the Sir Rammel Hawking, Black Swan Knight and Prince of Elves, he offers them a chance of a lifetime by introducing them to Rosie to be a part of her new team of interdimensional hunters. The twins who have vowed to stay together forever and never accept a mate decide to embark on the journey of a lifetime in order to use their hunting skills to keep the world safe from predators.

When Torn and Sher are thrown together as partners, both of their world’s are rocked to the core, as they discover they are fated mates. Just when things start heating up between them, Sher catches the eye of a demon while traveling through the dimensional passes and disappears leaving a stunned Torn without his newly found mate.

Victoria has readers off on a grand adventure in her first novel of the D.I.T. I enjoyed revisiting favorite characters such as Ram, Elora and Deliverance while also learning more about the new hunters the D.I.T. teams will be comprised of. Torn’s backstory is heartbreaking at times and gives great insight into his behaviors and bad boy attitude and Sheridan is truly a wonderful and wild warrior princess that I can’t wait to read more about!

This book does end with a cliffhanger. However, the next installment releases next month, so readers do not have long to wait to jump back into the world of the D.I.T. 4 stars.

I am running out of words to praise this series. to start with I will have to repeat myself. This book can stand alone. However, the whole series is such a joy to read, why not experience the whole thing? Victoria Danann is a gifted story teller. Her world building is excellent. I love spending time in her universe and with the complex and amazing characters she has created. I don't think I will ever tire of reading this series.

In this book, we revisit many of the characters we have come to love as Rosie is busy putting together the new Department of Interdimensional Trespass (D.I.T.). When she accepted the position, she hadn't considered all the problems -- physical, financial, and ethical. She does get help from some old friends like Elora, Ram, and of course, her husband, Glen. Luckily she also gets Grieve as her personal assistant. Grieve seems to be able to work miracles. I definitely need a Grieve in my life. Some of the issues she faces are very topical. I actually cringed when Rosie suggested tagging everyone entering from another dimension. It seemed an easy solution, but the unethical ramifications of such a policy were soon pointed out to her. Not all who cross into different realms are seeking to do harm. In fact, most are quiet peaceful. D.I.T. must be very sure they only target those who are truly dangerous such as those that came after Elora in what was called the Battle for Jefferson Unit.

We have met the red haired elf Sir Finngarick (Torn) in some of the other stories. He was the bad boy leader of the bad boy Z Team. The Z Team is a thing of the past. Torn is trying to repair his bad reputation. He is especially eager to atone for his disgrace during the Battle for Jefferson Unit. At her husband's suggestion, Rosie gives Torn another chance. We begin to see another side of Torn both from Glen's point of view and his actions with the D.I.T. He does want to change. Of course, his new partner has a lot to do with that as well.

We also meet some intriguing new characters. The O'Malley twins Shivaun and Sheridan come recommended by Ram. The two women are elves who have lived in an secluded forest in Ireland that has rejected all modern technology. They not only have to adapt to the new training and discipline of the D.I.T. but to the wonders and horrors of the 21st Century. Their expertise is with the bow and arrow. I look forward to spending more time with them.

There is romance, humour, and adventure. I enjoyed learning the back story of some of the characters. The introduction of the D.I.T. infuses more excitement into an already wonderful series. This one does end in a cliff hanger of sorts, but we do get to visit with old friends Deliverance and Kellareal and the next book is coming out on 31 October. What a great way to celebrate Samhain.

I hardly know what to say about this one. Let’s start with this: I have some good news and I have some bad news!

First the good news – it appears Finngarick is the first in a new series and that is awesome. It also is built on a stunningly wonderful foundation, the Black Swan series. Also, and most important, it is a Victoria Danann book so it’s gotta be awesome.

That being said, it felt a little different from “the usual” feel; I think it’s because it is written from at least two viewpoints – Torn’s and Glen’s and Rosie’s. Oops, that’s three isn’t it. That is not to say it is awkward or in the least bit “less than” just that is felt a little different. But sometimes different is good, especially when it isn’t just for the sake of doing something different. That’s the case here… well, it isn’t just good – it’s great!

About the story: It’s in the book. Buy it and read it because if you care anything about this type of book, you’ll love it. It does have the aforementioned characters, a couple of demons, lots of other mythical, mystical characters, and a heck of a story. I don’t know how well it would go if you haven’t read the previous books. It might be okay but you will surely be missing some important background.

Now for the bad news, and there’s lots of it. First, it is too short! It should be at least 50% longer so we can get at least one of the hanging stories resolved. Wait, Torn’s initial story is pretty much resolved so there is that. Second, it is going to be entirely too long before the author releases the next book in the series. Lastly, there are only 5-stars to rate it. It needs 10-stars but then Victoria Danann books routinely need more that 5.

Another awesome book that I sincerely hope is going to launch another major series! Did I mention that I am a huge Victoria Danann fan?

I loved the length of the book and having all the details about how Rosie is developing her program. I'm a big Rosie fan. I also love her relationship with Glen and am looking forward to discovering more about how his werewolf side seems to be showing up more now. I was admittedly worried that while I read the back story about Torn's childhood, I didn't feel like I knew him well. Then there's Sher, who went from being feral to being in a committed relationship in a very brief amount of time. Of course, I'm not an Elf and have never felt the mating bond. It does intrigue me. I loved how the book brought back characters and showed how their relationships have continued to grow throughout the years. I felt like I was at a family reunion, albeit with cooler folks. I digress, anyway, I was minding my own business, reading along and somewhat anxious that so much was left to wrap up in a short amount of time left. Then, it ends. What the heck?? I hate cliffhangers. They are cruel. In my mind, I think it will be okay and that there will be a HEA. Then, I remember Carnal. I'm conflicted. So conflicted. I look forward to the rest of Torn's story.

OK so I don't know what can make this book any better, the way the story ends or the fact that Victoria Danann can make me fall for any one of her men at any given time. I mean I will always be a Sir Storm and a Sir Catch fan but I am loving me some Irish elves! Victoria Danann, You have a way with words that makes me feel like I am watching a movie or wishing I was living in your books. Now, you had to go throw another HOTT A** Demon in the mix. This book just keeps the D.I.T growing and growing. I am really trying to decide which book is my favorite and I just can't. The stories get better and better with each new progression. My Favorite part: "The idea of being totally separate, an individual, was new to Sheridan as was the world outside Black on Tarry. ADD THAT TO THE GROWING DESIRE TO REACH OUT AND RUN HER FINGERS OVER THE OUTER EDGE OF TORN'S EAR. Or move her chair a little closer to his in the classroom. " SIGH!!!! Can't wait for more of the D.I. T. and Ms. Elora Rose Storm. There is more to come and there is no where that I will not follow Victoria Danann in her stories.

Where to begin well it startes with Rosie and her new role as head of D.I.T
She's got all these plans going on in her head but doesn't quite know how to make them a reality there lies the new character Grieve roses appointed assistant and what an asset he is with his ability to manage and prioritize there up and finnaly getting somewhere. With the task at hand to pick elite team member rosie recruits the o'malley twins and what a wild pair they are. I'm happy to finnaly see more of torn/Finngarick who doesn't love a strong, handsom Irishman ( i know I got mine lol ) when he meets his appointed partner for the first time all's I'm saying is sparks fly watch that space. I found myself laughing a lot during this book also my cheeks hurt from read smiling haha my family now think I'm crazy.
Absolutely loved it and didn't want it to end but it did and what a whopper ending it was and now I'm eagerly awaiting its sequal. Once again Victoria has excelled herself congratulations on an amazing series.

Great story but frustrating ending

I love the Knights of the Black Swan stories and eagerly await each new installment. This one was no different. Torn Finngarick has been a fascinating character ever since he first appeared back in the original series. I was excited to learn more about him in this book. In that respect it didn't disappoint. Torn had aged and matured a bit from previous encounters, as one might expect after the passage of time. His story slipped seamlessly into the Black Swan time line and it was wonderful to see some old favorite characters again. The problem I have with the book is that it ends too abruptly and with a bit of a cliffhanger. It's like the first half of a book that got cut off in the middle. I can appreciate that Torn's ultimate happily ever after might be subject to a larger story arc but I can't help but feel that this book ended prematurely.

Finngarick is a character that was introduced earlier in the Knights of the Black Swan series. He is sure to play a monumental role in the D.I.T. Series. I knew that I would like him from the first time I met him in the pub...a young punk with a major attitude and elf ears to match. But, I knew that he would be a force to be reckoned with, and I'm glad to get the chance to see him develop. I also am loving Rosie more and more. It's hard to know what makes her more compelling ..her inherited powers, or the size of her heart. Both of those things are sure to make her a great leader, while also an eminent conduit for trouble. I'm hooked on this series, much the same way I am forever hooked on The Knights of the Back Swan. Victoria Danann writes such lovable characters, and provides her readers with a fun loving adventure every time.

Finngarick (Order of the Black Swan, D.I.T.Book2) OMG

Victoria Danann has created a new department in the Order of the Black Swan. D.I.T. the Department of Interdemensional Trespass. Elora Rose Storm (Rosie) is in charge, putting together a group of vampire slayers and a pair of identical twins from the New Forrest. Love and adventure, some laugh out loud humor and enough sexy bits to keep you up reading late into the night. I loved reading about old friends from the Black Swan series.

Victoria Danann and Finngarick has won the Sci-Fi Romance series of the year! Each book I read becomes my favorite. This time Finngarick comes with a cliffhanger! That's right a cliffhanger but no worries, Book 3, Irish War Cry is available at all retailers. Enjoy...thank Victoria!

Thanks Victoria Danann for getting better and better! I'm back with my Black Swan family...Rosie (Sir Storm's daughter) and married to Glendennon Catch , is opening another part of Black Swans called DIT (dept of Interdimensional Trespass) her husband thought Sir Torn Finngarick would be great for her team. He's from Dublin and has been a floater for a long time. His past has not been so good so Glen thinks he needs a second chance. This story brings new blood into the Swans and boy this is a wild ride!
Again Ms Danann didn't let me down. I don't know how she does it...she just grabs you and you better hang on! Excellent add to all the Black Swan stories! Made me cry, laugh, get excited and then repeated that!

Finngarick is the second book in the new series Order of the Black Swan, D.I.T. One of the tales this book tells is of Rosie, with the steadfast and hilarious help of the men in her life, to bring the Department of Interdimensional Trespass to life. We meet some exciting new characters and welcome our old favorites. Sir Torn Finngarrick's life is told, and he is recommended to Rosie, by her husband to be on the new team. This creates a new light in him and being a part of this new adventure he finds something he thought he could never have. This story has a climatic ending, so stay tuned for the the continuing saga in Irish War Cry. Great Paddy, it's a fantastic addition to the Black Swan dynasty!

In typical Victoria Dannan style, you read the blurb and you think you know what's going to happen in the story and then the next minute, you're half way through the book realizing that the story is heading in a totally unexpected direction - I love this about Victoria's books, she always keeps you guessing and that is keeps you enthralled, turning those pages and losing sleep! D.I.T. keeps us in the Black Swan feel of things and I loved spending time with Glen and Rosie again reminding me of post Carnal days. I loved watching Rosie grow into her role! The twins are interesting to say the least and I enjoyed seeing Torn come into his own. Needless to say I'm loving this new arc of the series and can't wait for Irish War Cry!

What a delight to finally get another book about Black Swan. It may be the next generation but many of the old gang are also involved. Danann writes with absolutely the best characters and stories. Not sure how or why she can come up with so many twists and turns but I am sure glad she does. The conversations are written with quick wit and sometimes funny, too. Her world building continues to be first rate. There are only a select few authors that I read that can make me quit whatever I am doing and read each new book. Victoria Danann is #1. Whether she writes about bikers, supernaturals or witches, she brings the same excellence. Please check out her books. This one is first rate and MOST HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

Finngarick: D.I.T

This book was so much fun. Love the new devision D.I.T. And the fact Rosie is commander, no wait commissioner, no wait sheriff, no wait lets just go with Rosie for the time being. OMGosh she makes me laugh, giggle and snort. Sometimes all 3. I’m just ecstatic that Torn has found a mate, but of course we have to have the protagonist that whisks her away. I love the ingenuity in this book in trying to solve issues and problems that come up in such an enormous undertaking as creating a brand new devision within the Black Swan unit. Helm is of course just as funny as his parents and just as mischief. Can’t wait to read more of the Hawking twins as they get older. Excellent and exciting read!

This.Book. WOW! Ms. Danann has once again crafted a tale that draws you in and makes you feel as if you are right there in the story not just reading it. We get re-introduced to Torrent Finngarick and learn more about his early years with Black Swan. And Rosie is such a delight in this book! Funny and irreverent in her dealings with Simon, unafraid to admit to her new assistant Greeves (yes that Greeves) that she might just be a bit overwhelmed and uncertain how to proceed. The twists and turns will have you furiously turning the pages until the breathtaking end. Fasten your seat belts for this one and prepare for a read you’ll never forget! Go forth and 1-click already!

I really enjoyed reading this amazing story. I could way lyrical about it, but I don’t want to spoil the story.
The D.I.T is now getting started, and it is up to the lovely Rosie to recruit & get things organised, it was lovely to see her blossom in the role once again.
I found myself laughing a lot more in this book at the interactions between Rosie & pretty much everyone especially poor Grieve.
I absolutely love meeting & getting to know new members of the Black Swan family and with this book & the ones to follow I know I am not going to be disappointed. I was also a treat to hear from a few old favourites too.

The Black swans return...Yah!
Rosie is put in charge of a new division of the Black Swan..The Department of Interdimensional Trespass..To track others who are coming in to the Loti Dimension illegally..
As she assembles her new team of hunters and misfits, she unknowingly put together Finngarick and Sheridan, who turn out to be Elfin lifemates..
As they are all learning to do their new jobs..
A few of the original Black Swan hunters make a return. Elora, Ram, Glen.
So happy to return to this great world woven by Victoria.
Hopefully this is the start to a great new spin off.

You'd have to be a fan of the entire black swan series to enjoy this book. The writing and story is not the best Victoria Danann has done, and she's cruelly left this one on a cliffhanger. The problem is the distant narration she sometimes favors. I see that style as a band aid - the writer can't be bothered SHOWING you what they want you to understand, so they just summarize what you're meant to get out of a story. Lazy writing! The characters, as usual, are absolutely wonderful. Ms. Danann has a gift for creating life-like, loveable, imperfect characters.

Second book of the series. The book took me a few chapters to get into it and understand who the narrator. Once I caught on I really got to enjoy the banter that is thrown around between the characters. It is interesting watching a new Black Swan group being formed. And well, Finngarek is in for quite a surprise as the group is formed. Some action and lots of tension between some characters. Overall a fun paranormal romance read.

I voluntarily read and reviewed a copy of the book.

Finngarick is the 2nd Installment of the Order of the Black Swan D.I.T. (Department of Interdimensional Trespass). The intricate detail quickly immerses you so deep into this world that you feel the cold, the damp rain the giddiness of new love, the shattered heart of loss and the fear of grabbing onto hope. The last passage caused me to say why here, why now? I can hardly wait to read what happens next in the "Irish War Cry" (3rd Installment).

How to be original without spoilers or gushing? Spin off series, literary or televised, rarely equal the original. However Victoria manages to be the exception. Her D.I.T. has quickly garnered my interest. Revisiting some originals from the Black Swan is an absolute zero calorie no guilt treat. I'm looking forward to seeing Rosie progress and grow, and watch how a former Z Team misfit finally finds his place in this series.

So entertaining! I read it in a day. If you have read any of the Knights of Black Swan books and need your fix, you will relish seeing some old favorites. Reading Finngarick, you will get new favorite characters. If you haven't read any of the Knights of Black Swan and are new to these books, this book is also a stand alone book. Warning! Once you read this book your addiction will start and you will want to read all of the preceding books.
