Taken from one of her books:

I live in a small town in Wisconsin. From my deck, I can see the Mississippi River on one side and the bluffs, where eagles live and nest on the other side. I live with my husband Dave and dog Buddy. My two children are grown and I have two grandchildren. I love to watch people and that has helped me with my writing. I often use people I watch as characters in my books and I always try to give my characters some of my own values and habits.

I love to create characters and put them in a troubling situation then sit back and let them do all the work. My characters surprise even me at times. At some point in the book, they take on a life of their own and the twists and turns they create becomes the story. Of all the stories, I could write I found I like mystery/thrillers the best. I like to keep my readers guessing until the very end of the book.

I’m not rating this book because honestly I wouldn’t know where to start.

This book is a disaster, I mean seriously it’s riddled with mistakes, repetitions, terrible dialogue, unbelievable completely OTT characters and don’t get me started on the plot.
It’s so bad and yet I read it to the end (skimming was involved at times) so what does that say about me?

I didn’t particularly like any of the characters well apart from Deacon, Gator and Reva.

I also have to wonder just how much liquid Cassie consumes to keep her hydrated because she cries more than any woman alive.

And the Satan’s Spawn have the worst MC compound ever. As soon as the words Lock Down are issued you know the villain is getting straight in.
This is really 3 books in 1 and in each book someone tries to get in and seriously a Little Tykes playhouse would be more secure. They’re 0 for 3, actually 4 if you count Connie.

So twin sisters are separated at two years old. One has no recollection of the other at all and didn’t even know they had a sister.
The other remembers conversations!
”I’m your sister Josette.” Paige shook her head. “You always wanted to be called Cassie. Mom would call you Josey and you would get so mad at her. You used to tell her your name wasn’t Josey, it was Cassie.” Cassie gasped.

Dangerous men are at the compound so Cassie despite having a huge dog Demon to protect her goes walking alone. She may as well have a piece of paper on her back saying Kidnap Me!

There’s tons of mistakes and the story became more and more far-fetched and crazy. But it was the inconsistencies that got me. This book seriously needs editing.

HE’S FALLING IN LOVE WITH HER.

“Oh baby, I don’t hate you. I think I might be falling for you and that scares the hell out of me. I’ve never loved anyone before.”

HE LOVES HER. ❤️

Deke whispered. “I need you to come back here. I love you baby.”

Deke spoke quietly. “I love her and I think she loves me too...”

SHE DOES LOVE HIM. ❤️

“I love you girl, don’t you know that?”

“How can I not love you?” Deke asked.

“I’m no hero either, baby. I’m just a man who loves you...”

Deke smiled. “I do love you.”

“...I love you for who you are right now.”

SO HE DEFINITELY LOVES HER. ❤️

“Are you saying that you love me?”
“No,” he retorted. “I don’t do the love thing.”
Cassie felt her heart breaking. She could hardly breathe. “Then I’m nothing more than your whore,” she whispered.
“You’re my woman,” Deke corrected her. “You should be happy with that.”

SAY WHAT? 🤬
HE DOESN’T DO THE LOVE THING? 🤯

He couldn’t believe what she’d said. Didn’t she know? Couldn’t she tell how much he cared about her?

IS HE BIPOLAR?
DOES HE HAVE DEMENTIA? 🤷🏻‍♀️

Everyone has been telling me that you need to hear the words, so I’m gonna try. I do love you so much. Some days I feel like my chest is gonna crack.

HERE WE BLOODY GO AGAIN.... 😡 🤬 🤯

Each and every one of these books were a 5*

Spawn & Spitfire

This is an MC read with not only sexy bad*ss bikers but a touch as hell woman who has one warning “Don’t Touch Me”. That is a fair motto for the life this woman has lived through since the age of three. As tough as it was she was the girl who tried to protect all the other children being held in this foster care home with a special lifelong protection of her best friend, Peaches. Nothing was better than when Cassie took out three bikers. As president of the Satan’s Spawn MC, Deke was amazed at the tenacity of this little spitfire and needed to learn more about her.

This story will break your heart and give you twists and turns that will have your head reeling. I loved Zeke and Cassie’s story and cannot wait to read more on this sensational couple.

Revenge & Retribution

Amazing!! Deke and Cassie’s story continues with another installment in the Satan’s Spawn series. Just when you think these two are ready for their HEA all h*ll breaks loose. What you thought you had known from Spawn and Spitfire turns and hits you right upside your head yet again! Is Cassie ever going to find peace? Will Deke finally give in and admit his true feelings for Cassie or will being the President of Satan’s Spawn hold strong to what he believes owning a woman is all about?

This is a great continuation on Deke and Cassie with some of the surprising events leaving you always wondering, what could happen next. I can’t wait to read the next installment in this fantastic series.

Babies & Bastards

What a great follow up to Revenge & Retribution in the Satan’s Spawn MC series with Deke and Cassie. How many more people can crawl out of the woodwork that threatens Cassie?! But oh, my, she is one tough woman with a great sense of right and wrong. There is no way you can’t love her. Who wouldn’t want the tough as nails bad*ass biker who would die for you?

I have to say this was one MC series that I couldn’t put down and highly recommend it to anyone who is looking for that special book that will keep your mind going on every page.

Interesting. Different. Which those two things are good. A lot of craziness happens and it’s like everything bad thing you can make up about violence and abuse, basically happens to Cassie, aka: Spitfire.

I felt like she cried way too much for me. One thing I can say for sure, the story was never boring. It constantly moves forward with constant action and drama.

I wasn’t a fan of the fact that Deke slaps her at the start, though she did it first out of rage. I also wasn’t a fan of how fast Deke says he loves her. And I didn’t feel like there was that fast of a connection between them. Also, I didn’t like how she was so skiddish and terrified one moment- then four days later asks Deke to have sex with her. She’s basically a prisoner in his care to do with what he wants.

On to the next ...

Poor Cassie

The first book was good. Cassie was a badass and the story was interesting, but by the time I got to the second and 3rd book of Cassie's tale I was ready to kill her myself. I literally had to force myself to finish this book. The same information is repeated so often, You're left feeling brow beaten. Cassie became a fragile whiner and basically helpless, the bad ass long forgotten.

I picked up this three-book set because it kept coming across my FB feed and it was free on KU. From the very beginning, I knew it was going to be a like / hate relationship. While there are some great scenes, some enjoyable characters and some really intriguing plot points, I struggled with the simply outlandish and overdone plot and the inconsistent characters. There's no reality base for most of the situations and I found that frustrating and unenjoyable. Some of the dialogue is just not good, and there are innumerable scenes that feel half-done and rushed but could be really great with some further detail. Other scenes I felt just the opposite.

I finished this because I had a lot of energy invested but I'm not sure I'll continue with the series. Cassie is quite the ridiculous paradox; badass enough to survive on the streets starting as a child and can take down three big bikers, but she's a crying mess who barely functions most of the time even though she spent her young life learning how not to cry. Something bad is going to happen if she's left alone even for a moment. She's never known love, but gives up her virginity to Deke after four nights of being basically held hostage at the clubhouse. Some of her personality traits are explained, but many of her actions still don't make much sense. Deke is similarly frustrating. He's not about abuse of women, but he is. I just couldn't find many redeeming qualities in any of the characters except for perhaps the men of Redemption House and the couple Gator and Reva.

If you can get past some of the rough spots, you may enjoy this. For me, it's just okay. I can see why others enjoy it but I'm not sure I'll be reading any further.

This is what I love about MC reads!!

MC genre is my favorite to read.....I kind of lost my love for it for awhile. Now BANG this series has brought it back for myself. This series has so many twists, turns, revelations, hot AF sexy alpha males and one kick butt female named Cassie. Cassie has been to hell and back in her young life. She has endured more then anything ever imaginable in your worst nightmare times five. She is an amazing individual whom has a heart so pure for the ones she protects and consider her own. She takes on burdens, beatings, abuse, for those she cares about and protects. She gives out warnings to NOT touch her and you better watch out if you don't heed her warning which by the way she gets the name Spitfire!! Loved the scene where she kicks 3 bikers butts lol!!
I know this was a boxset of 3 books but I am only writing one review. You've got so many secrets, tribulations, heartache, heartbreak, and atrocities that Cassie and her friend Peaches have endured you might shed some tears. This series of three books kept enthralled and glued to my kindle. And that ladies and fellow readers is a dang good read!! I think you as readers that love MC are going to love this series. The author definitely done her job in my readers mind of a freaking awesomely told storyline. Just freaking brilliantly written!!
Now off to get into boxset #2 on this series.....I gotta know what happens next.
Thanks Jamie Nibarger Ellis

This was the 1st book I read by K.J. Dahlen. This book is really 3 books, so it is a good buy if purchasing. There were several typos which threw off the flow while reading. The way characters speak in this book is choppy also. Satan’s Spawn has good storylines, but is very repetitive repeating the entire story of the childhood abuse of Cassie and Peaches. Cassie & Peaches were both in an abusive home that stole & sold children underground. They ran away after 5 years at the age of 10. After that they lived on the streets of Boston until Peaches was kidnapped, then got away and started working at a strip bar. Deke, the Present of Satan’s Spawn MC, & Cassie meet because she comes to the Spawn’s strip bar looking for her childhood friend Peaches. The story expands to include other MC clubs, a mafia family, and a few Federal agents. The story weaves all the clubs, mafia, and Feds in a realistic and good story. However, it is unbelievable how they all end up getting along and helping each other out after problems are taken care of. When presidents of other MC’s leave their club to join Satan’s Spawn was a stretch for me. All in all, it was a good story.

A bit too much

In the beginning I literally wanted to put the book down and never read it again especially when deke hit Cassie...really??? How is this even remotely right?
Apart from that the book was ok. But I couldn’t relate to Cassie staying in the club..why? She kept getting beat up, kidnapped, left for dead. There’s only so many times a woman will endure that before walking away and starting again.
The men were portrayed as rough with the women, so if you are reading my review please understand that any woman that thinks that it’s ok to put up with any rough treatment from a man is obviously in a cycle of abuse. It’s not ok to be rough handled or slapped in any manner.

Oh my goodness. This is such a great story. It made me laugh, cry, & get so angry about what happened to Cassie & Peaches. I'm so glad that Cassie met Deke & his club. I couldn't put it down. K.J. you did a wonderful job of writing this book. I voluntarily received an advance copy in exchange for an honest review.

I didn’t finish. The story had so much potential but it was riddled with errors. And not just grammar. Plot errors where awful. The main characters changed personalities like Sybil! The hero said one thing and then a few chapters later the total opposite.

Had to give up

Part one went ok, it got a bit mixed up in places and people all of a sudden knew stuff they hadn't been told or seemed to have forgotten stuff they had when someone else told them, but I made it through that and then came part two. In part one Deke told Cassie he loved her and then in chapter three of part two he said he didn't do the love thing when she asked if he loved her???? Did he forget he'd already said he did love her??? I gave up because I couldn't handle the backward and forwards thing anymore.

This is such an interesing story. It is full of unrealistic issues, a lack of understanding of the justice system, and a few spelling and grammar error, but I am having trouble putting it down. It was so bad it was good.

Deke is both an alpha MC club president and a soft tender man. I find these two at odds and it is a bit weird at which time during the story hus personality traits emerge. He is a fun character, just a bit extreme in personality.

Cassie is an interesting character. She is so small and meek, young, and childish that it us a bit difficult to believe in her as a match for Deke. Her past and childhood explain these issues, but it makes the story softer then is needed. She us physically strong, she does take down MC men and tgat does help save her chaeacter.

The lack of realistic understanding of both the US justice system and the MC world makes this story completely fiction. There us very little instances if reality and truth, but it does nake this a good read.

My FAVORITE part of this story is that violence is taken on everyone equally. Woman get slapped, hit, and even killed if they break the rules. It is nice to finally read a story where once the rules are set and the characters agree to them that they are enforced reguardless of sex (equal rights under the MC laws). To ME, that is so refreshing.

Overall, it was repetitive, childish, and way too long. It needs work. It was a good read for some escape time and once I got passed the little issues I mentioned previous, I was excited to see how it ended. I will read more from this author in the future.

I cannot believe the rave reviews this has received. If I had not been in a situation where I had no internet so had to read what was on my kindle this would be a DNF review.
The characters are so one dimensional it is untrue, there is no world building and the whole story line sucks. We are 'told' when someone is evil, there is nothing to create a minds eye image, and at one point a dog manages to pick out a child who has seen 'the bad man' - really?!
This story had the potential to be great, however the author has missed the mark by a mile. There is no connection with the characters and much of narrative is stilted and jumpy.
Then I will get to my pet hate, the editing is non-existent, there are typos , plus spelling and grammar mistakes.
i hope you have KU if you choose to read this because buying it will be a complete waste of money. I will not be reading volume 2.

I’m on the fence (No spoilers)

It a little disappointing when you enjoy the concept of a story, but it falls flat. While I love the story itself there were just so many inconsistencies through the book. For example point A would somehow end up at point B without any explanation. Certain names were mixed up where A’s pants had blood on them then somehow B is being named as having the blood on him. Around every corner it’s like one big coincidence. Rather than flowing, the story is cheesy to the point of being choppy. I just can’t seem to stop reading it because I’m curious as can be, but I wouldn’t ever go back and read it which is disappointing considering I fell in love with another book by this author.

I voluntarily read an early copy of this anthology, and I'm looking forward to more. Though I really enjoyed the main characters Deke and Cassie, I felt there were many inconsistencies in their characters and in the storyline. The supporting characters were very interesting but some were very annoying, especially Peaches, who did nothing but cry throughout three books! I'm looking forward to growth both within the books and from this author! I'd love to see more about Redemption House, Marnie, Paige, Iceman, and Deacon!

If you can get past the outlandish plot. Seriously MC Clubs, FBI Agents and A Mafia Family working together for the greater cause was a bit of a sretch. However, when MC Presidents start leaving their clubs to make one big happy family MC i lost it.

I found myself skipping over sections due to the need of the author to continually repeat the childhood trauma suffered by Cassie and Peaches.

Although this book consists of three books, for me it was an okay read but I wouldn’t be reading any further.

I usually don't leave a bad review unless I just feel compelled to. This book is just not good. Juvenile writing and no depth at all. One minute the main character is in the corner crying and scared and the next minute someone who doesn't want to be touched is in bed with the other lead. I had high hopes for this story I love MC stories this however was horrific. Couldn't even finish. Save your time and money and skip this whole series.

This is the first book I've read by K.J. Dahlen... and OMG I fell in love. I was hooked from the first few pages. The storyline will draw you in. It had me laughing, crying and just gave me all the feels. Just when you think these characters will get a HEA something else happens that you wouldn't expect.

This book will keep you on the edge of your seat. Can't wait to get more of these characters.

Buckle your seat belts and get ready to dive into the underworld where MC and organized crimes rule the streets…

Deke Tory
He is respected by many and feared by all. As the president of Satan’s Spawn MC, he is a man who knows what he wants and he will take what is his. But when he finds himself drawn to the spitfire girl who appears out of nowhere, he fights falling in love with her. Love makes men weak. Deke is a ruthless leader who lives to protect his club and family from harm. Love isn’t part of his equation. Loyalty and allegiance is everything to him.

Cassie
Growing up on the streets since the age of ten, the only rule Cassie ever learned was the rule of survival. Never trust anyone at face value and never let anyone in. She is a tough woman, many men would steer clear from. However, when her best friend Peaches is snatched off the streets, Cassie breaks her rule to save her and fulfill a promise she made to her long ago. Tracking her down to Troy, New York, she never knew how her world was about to change forever.

When a dangerous man from her past comes looking for Cassie, the same someone who would see her dead to keep his terrible secret, Deke finds himself more than ready to keep Cassie, his club, and family safe. Can he break down the walls she has built up to protect herself? Can Deke protect her—can he even hold on to her?

Note: All Volumes in the Satan Spawn MC series are standalone, full length super sexy, raw MC romance novels. They can be read in any order and do NOT contain cliffhangers. It includes lots of steamy scenes, biker slang, cursing, some violence, dark themes and elements about a fictional outlaw motorcycle club. HEA guaranteed.

I LOVED THIS BOOK, CASSIE IS AWESOME, TRAGIC BUT AWESOME

You will have to read this to understand how brilliant it is. Maybe then you will understand why I wanted to cry, but held it in so I ended up with the headache from hell,
I did not put this book down, I haven’t cooked food today – I made it takeaway night.
This book sucks you in and it will NEVER let you go.
I legitimately have gone and got the second book in the series as well as the third….. and that was before I have written one letter of this preview.
If you love Bad Biker boys with a heart and super strong women who still stand up when the entire world tries to beat them down, then this is perfect for you.
Please, I urge you read this book, it’s bleeping brilliant!
I am truthful when I said I have gone and gotten the next two on my own…. that’s how much I have loved it.
Some of the subject matter could cause triggers, but it is one well written book

1.75 stars. This book (or collection of 3 mini-books with the same characters) is slightly better than the other Dahlen book I read, but not by much. The characters are a little better developed and the plot is full of twists.

However, the big problems with this book were the "tell not show" writing and the repetition. Something would happen, and then a character would tell another character about it, and then that character would describe the same events using the same words again to a different character. Over and over this happens. I found myself skimming most of these retellings, which made up at least 1/2 of this book. Every time a new character came in, someone had to tell them Cassie's whole history of abuse and survival. It got old really fast.

Another problem I had with this book was the inconsistent character portrayals. Cassie is portrayed as a strong fighter who never cries in the first couple chapters of the book. However, she spends the rest of the three books crying and being hurt. In books 2 and 3, she is constantly being shot, stabbed, and beaten up. What happened to the super fighter from book one who no one could touch? Also, Deke promises that she will be safe and no one will hurt her ever again after she is taken by the FBI in the first book. However, she is kidnapped (FROM HER HOME) no less than 4 times in the following 2 books. He keeps promising over and over, but she keeps getting hurt again and again. Huh?!?! It didn't make sense that street-wise, tough Cassie would stay where she wasn't safe. What was Deke bringing to their relationship, really?

I would not recommend this book series, and I do not think I will ever read a Dahlen book again. I tried two books, and I think that is enough.

I usually start with the bad and finish with the good, but this time, I cannot. I really have only read Book one and two, but I do not see them separated here. The good is that the story is solid. It has a plot and not overrun with random sex.

Unfortunately, that was it for the good. For me the bad started right away but I thought I should read a bit more before making a snap judgement. However, I was right. The writing was elementary. There were errors in speech that do not match up with the type of character there are. But what was most disappointing, was that the men did not speak like men. They were speaking like a woman in a man's body. The author does not know how to write for another gender. No way in HELL will a bad ass biker start spouting their feeling like they are girls at a sleepover. Then to turn around the next moment and tell some chick 'You are mine' like the cliche biker. What made the situation worse, was the stepping back and repetition. Something would be confessed but then later retold like it was the first time it was said.

However, the icing on the cake was that this one person was constantly harmed but all was always okay. There is no way in HELL that a pregnant woman who was just shot in the stomach would be able to be led (while tied up) out a bedroom window in a secured and monitored compound one day after surgery. Oh and lets not forget that she left the hospital a few hours after surgery from being shot in the stomach, but her babies survived just like her. All a bunch of survivors in impossible circumstances.

All in all, there was too much to be written off as creative license than was real. And the writing was sub par. I could not bring myself to read the next one. Spoiler, she get kidnapped again!

Book 1~ Trigger Warning

When a fiery redhead comes storming into his club, Deke is determined to discover her secrets! After her horrible childhood, Cassie is determined to protect her best friend. Neither expected love. Will Cassie be able to trust Deke enough to tell him her secrets? Will Deke be able to prove to Cassie she is lovable?

This was definitely a twisty ride that sucked me in. There were parts where I cringed and parts that you couldn't help but love both main characters. I loved the fact that while Deke was a hard man, he was determined to protect Cassie. Cassie while not knowing what love was, proved that she loved those around her wholly. Great MC read!

Book 2~
Cassie thought she was finally going to get her happy ever after. Deke thought that they were finally safe. The past is a fickle thing. Will Deke be able to rescue her before it is to late? Will Cassie give into the darkness?

Just like the first book this one kept me on my toes! I loved how strong Cassie was. Deke proved that he wasn't just brute strength. Good read with twisty turns!

Book 3~
As Cassie and Deke become closer to the arrival of their babies, both are struggling with pains of their pasts. Will Deke be able to forgive his father? Will Cassie's past come back for more?

These two have been through it all together and I was happy to see them get their brand of happy ever after. I didn't blame Deke for his reactions to his father, but did agree that they were alike. I was proud of how strong Cassie showed she was once again. Good read!
