ROGUE and GAMBIT dig deep into their past in "therapy" to maintain their cover, all the while snooping around after hours for clues about missing mutants. Will what they unearth about themselves in this "paradise" mean curtains for their relationship or bring them closer than ever? And what discovery straight out of a horror movie has ROGUE and GAMBIT wishing they'd never agreed to this mission in the first place?!
KELLY THOMPSON has a degree in Sequential Art from The Savannah College of Art & Design. Her love of comics and superheroes have compelled her since she first discovered them as a teenager. Currently living in Portland, Oregon with her boyfriend and the two brilliant cats that run their lives, you can find Kelly all over the Internet where she is generally well liked, except where she's detested.
Kelly has published two novels - THE GIRL WHO WOULD BE KING (2012) and STORYKILLER (2014) and the graphic novel HEART IN A BOX from Dark Horse Comics (2015). She's currently writing ROGUE & GAMBIT, HAWKEYE, and PHASMA for Marvel Comics and GHOSTBUSTERS for IDW. Other major credits include: A-Force, Captain Marvel & The Carol Corps, Jem and The Holograms, Misfits, Power Rangers Pink, and the creator-owned mini-series Mega Princess.
Kelly's ambitions are eclipsed only by her desire to exist entirely in pajamas. Fortunately pajamas and writers go hand in hand (most of the time). Please buy all her stuff so that she can buy (and wear) more pajamas.
Has much as I like those two characters and has much as I find that it's a great idea to create a series to give them an homage, I just can enjoy it at all. There is something that just don't click with me. Sorry I'm out of this one!
Great stuff. Kelly Thompson really gets their voices well here. Gambit especially. Rogue is a bit harder to pin down in general, but she's a bit better here than she was in issue one. The plot, both emotional and concrete, chugs along. There are great flashback scenes to their "first" meetings. I am absolutely loving this series.
Although I'm one of the of the people that actually enjoyed the first issue of Rogue and Gambit, I still have to say that this second issue is better than the first. Kelly Thompson is doing a wonderful job of touching on their past and connecting it to the present and Pere Pérez's beautifully illustrates it.
Apart from the horrifying thought of couples therapy with Emma Frost, this issue digs deep into Gambit and Rogue's past and how they each remember things. What was choice and what wasn't, and how much their powers might have influenced that initial attraction. Meanwhile, the mission and mystery deepens. Just what mess have they gotten themselves into?
