Rate this book
Tesfai Tesema became a Christian in Saudi Arabia, and then a missionary in Saudi Arabia. After his expectant wife was arrested, he was forced to leave the Muslim country. Arriving in the Sudan, he and his wife began the first Ethiopian Christian churches in that country. Eventually Tesfai and Abeba came to California, to be missionaries to America. Tesfai had to survive a treacherous journey from Ethiopia to Djibouti across the Dekali Desert, leave Djibouti for Saudi Arabia, flee Saudi Arabia for Sudan before coming to California. Today he is a missionary in San Francisco, reaching out from an Ethiopian congregation to a multi ethnic neighborhood. When he looks back on his life, he can see meaning and purpose. He knows he is no accidental missionary.

This is an amazing story. It’s a story of the Gospel triumphing in places where it is most hated and in souls unaware of their need.
It is truly encouraging. While it is the story of Tesfai Tesema and his wife, it is also the story of their ministry partners. Together they have reached so many lost people with the joyous news of salvation. Their circumstances couldn’t have been more dire, but their joy is overwhelming. Their boldness to witness for Christ wherever they are is beautiful. It might cost them everything, but they count it all joy. It’s one of those biographies that has a lot of recreated dialogue. It makes for a gripping narrative and a smooth read, but it does make it more like a novel in parts than a biography.
I really appreciate the beautiful presentation of the Gospel. As he shares his testimony, he shows us our guilt before God and Christ’s sacrifice for our sins. That’s what makes Christian biographies worth reading, the eternal joy of a soul saved. This one tends to lean charismatic, but beyond salvation very little doctrine is discussed. The end becomes a defense of his current ministries, but because he really doesn't say exactly what he teaches, I can't say if I would support his ministry or not.
I would definitely recommend this one.

David, so good to see your contact. Let me know what you think of the book. It is about a young man from Ethiopia who became a Christian in Saudi Arabia. You can hear it as well as well in audio or Kindle. Marilyn Feldhaus wrote it,a former deaconess. Our Publishing company produced it.

A more modern look

What Tesfi went through in obedience to God was amazing. God was merciful and patient until this young man came to salvation and had a fire to reach people, wherever he was, with the Gospel. He married a dedicated woman and together they served!

good book

It was interesting to read the story of their lives and how the author was getting into a lot of trouble before he found his calling from God.
