This book of poems was written by my sister, and I did the photos. It has mysterious poems and real photos. The poems are not always as they seem at first reading them, and it's great to sit down and try to figure out the true meaning behind them.

I lived and viewed this book in real life! And, I gave my book Five stars just simply I survived.. You can too! A must read, you will see you or someone you know in every page and photo in some point in your life and if some doesn't bring a tear in your eye in remembrance, well, I'll be surprised. I recieved this book through Good Reads First Reads.
Overall this is a decent poetry book, the poetry and photos are for the most part, well, good. The addition of photos into a poetry books I have always enjoyed, it adds to the mood of the poem, giving it that little last push that some poems do need. However I found that a couple of the photos could of been better picked, or even the addition of sepia photos would of enhanced what was already there. The harshness of the black and white photographs worked for some of the poems but sepia would of added the needed warmth that other poems created within their words. Like stated for the most part I found most of the poems to be decent, with a few exceptions but that is normal with almost every poetry book. It just seemed like those select few poems just needed to be pushed a little further that they were only written as filler and not truely felt. The entire body of work did have a common tone and feeling to it however, which is difficult to do, so congrats to you. As you read along you do get the sweeping emotions that carry you on to the next poem. So on the whole it is a very decent book, with a few discrepancies.

This is a Goodreads first read book win, thank you to Janet for the opprotunity to read and review.

I was initially interested in this book of poems because it was described as a "mysterious" book with photos that "will have you wanting to dig deep to unravel the true meaning behind them". The poetry wasn't as mysterious as I was expecting and tended to be about troubled or struggling love if I interpreted it correctly. I enjoyed that it was a collaboration between sisters and liked the idea of the poetry and photographs working together to express the artists feelings. The poetry was good, as were the photographs, and read like excerpts from a private diary. I enjoyed "Little Boy Thoughts" and "Wind in the Leaves" best and wish the poet had included more like them. Those two and "The Weeping Rose" were the best in my opinion. Overall it was a good first effort and I really enjoyed reading it.

A nice collection. I can feel the rawness of the poems and think they will benefit from refinement with more writing experience in future collections. With that will come the varying depths of expression I think need to be built up in these poems. A lovely collection that demonstrates the growth to come from this poet as the reader navigates the memory experience of image and written word. I especially enjoy having the addition of photos to accompany the pieces, adding a visual level to the experience and further meaning to the poem itself. Looking forward to seeing the evolution of this poet's work.

Thank you Janet for sending me a copy of your poems!

They are deep and mysterious, obviously you have put much thought into them and they are tied importantly to the pictures with messages that are not always obvious.

At first glance, it was difficult to get into them but after further thought and reflection, I could see where you were coming from.

A very beautiful collection...(-:
