The Sutherland Legacy #2

The Highlander's Stolen Bride

Rate this book

From the bestselling author of the Stolen Bride Series comes a brand new and exciting family saga! For fans of Scottish historical romance, the Sutherland Legacy propels you into the Highlands with tales of daring adventure, irresistible heroes and passion!

Magnus “Strath” Sutherland, Laird of Dornoch, refuses to marry after being betrayed by his betrothed’s father. Needing to distance himself from the Highlands, he accepts a commission at the Scottish border by the king, where he must squelch an English lord’s plans to lay siege. What he finds is the Scots’ enemy about to wed a most alluring English lass. What better way to torment his enemy than by defeating his army and stealing his beautiful bride?

Eva de Clare, youngest daughter of the Earl of Northwyck is about to be pledged in matrimony to a cruel lord who has blackmailed her family, when a terrifying Highlander interrupts the ceremony. The horror stories she’s heard about the warriors of the north must be true, but none seem to compare when she is literally plucked from where she stands and whisked across the Scottish border.

At first, Strath intends to toss the Sassenach lass into a dark cell and forget about her, but there is something about the way she defies him that he finds captivating, not to mention how very much he’d like to kiss her. Eva isn’t about to be made into a prisoner of war, and she’s definitely not going to be sent back to England to marry her enemy. Though at first the Highlander frightened her, she sees kindness beneath his hard exterior. Perhaps the key to her survival will be convincing this warrior to take her for himself. And perhaps Strath, just might have found the only woman who could warm his hardened heart.

Is it wrong of me to not enjoy this book because the hero was too nice, understanding, and not an alpha hole? The heroine knows how to cook and is a bit of a healer. The villain was a joke. He started out as a bully to our heroine but turns clumsy and cowardly in front of the hero. What a let down he was.

The Highlander's Reward is my first book by Eliza Knight and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The H/H meet when Arbella de Mowbbury is being escorted from England by her father Baron Mowbury to her wedding in Scotland to Sir Marmaduke Stewart. Laird Magnus Sutherland has just escorted his sister Lorna to her wedding to Lord Montgomery. After Lorna's wedding Magnus and his warrior guards are returning home to the Highlands, when they run smack into a impending war between William Wallace and The English. At the same time Arbella and her father and their guard run into the same war. Baron Mowbury leave Arbella with some guards an goes on to see what is going on. While gone Arbella and her guards are attacked. All of her guards are killed but Arebella puts up a noble fight when Magus comes upon the scene. He stops the attack on her and takes her back with him to Dunrobin Castle. On their way Arbelle is attacked by one of Magnus's men while using the woods for her personal needs. Of course, Magus stops the attacks. He decides to marry Arbella at the next Abbey they pass to keep her safe. No one would dare to put their hands on the Lairds wife. The rest of the story is Magus and Arbelle getting to know each other as husband and wife. They have some pretty steamy sex scenes as husband and wife. I liked both of these characters very much. The story also has it's villains and a host of supporting family members, which I found very well developed and I look forward to reading their stories. I am ready for bk2 The Highlanders Conquest.

Lady Eva de Clare, the youngest daughter of the Earl of Northwyck is not having a good day, for reasons unknown to her, her father is being blackmailed by the vile Lord Belfinch and she has just been informed, that she has to marry the man, today!

Magnus "Strath" Sutherland, Laird of Dornoch and Earl of Strathnavor has been sent to England by King Robert for two reasons, one to capture Lord Belfinch and two to find out of Lord Northwyck's youngest daughter Lady Eva is still alive. Strath arrives and storms the keep interrupting the wedding, after Belfinch is knocked out cold, Strath takes Eva prisoner, thinking Belfinch will follow.

Strath is attracted to Eva, but events in his recent past with women have left him wary and unwilling to trust. But Eva is a truly sweet woman and she worms her way into not only Strath's heart, but his men as well. By the time they reach his Uncle Jamie's keep, Strath knows his heart is well and truly lost.

Eva returns that love, but she has not been completely honest with him and when she learns of his past betrayal, is worried that her secret will destroy any tender feelings he has for her.

This is a fast read with very likeable characters, betrayal, secrets, warm love scenes, cameos from the Stolen Bride series, a bit of action, some shocking revelations and a very sweet HEA. There is a decidedly modern feel to the dialogue and a couple of dropped story lines that kept this from being a five star read for me, but it is a very entertaining book and I would be happy to recommend it.

This is the second book in the series, but it can easily be read as a standalone title.

Lord Northwyck is being blackmailed by Lord Belfinch. It's not just money he wants, it's Northwyck's daughter Eva as his bride. Strath, Laird of Dornach, is ordered by King Robert to find out if Northwyck's youngest daughter Eva is alive. Invading England, he arrives with his Scottish warriors in time to stop the wedding and steal the bride. Returning to Scotland, it's a trap for Belfinch and Northwyck to follow, captured and punished as traitors. For Eva and Strath, the journey north is a courtship. Finding love, they want permission from King Robert to marry. The King arrives and wants his revenge against the traitors!

My heart is smiling as I turned the last page. But I knew to expect that with any story by Eliza Knight! She has the special touch of wonderful prose and creating delightful characters that you get to know as you are immersed into the storyline. Combining the exact amount of brawn Scot Magnus "Strath" Sutherland, Laird of Dornoch and the delightful English Lass Eva Declare, daughter of the Earl of Norwyck brings this tale to life.
Strath is given the task by the king to go to England and put an end to an English Lords plan to lay siege to the Scots. But when he finds the English Lord he lands in the middle of is his daughter, Eva being forced to marry a terrible lord who has been blackmailing her father for years. Doing her best to get away before the vows, she is amazed when Strath comes into the church and kidnaps her to take back to Scotland.
I could only fall in love with these two characters who just had to be meant for each other. Of course, there were many ups and downs and unexpected twists, that I could not wait to see what happened. Prepare to be entertained and sigh a lot with the hope that the next in the series comes out soon!!!

The Highlander’s Stolen Bride by Eliza Knight
The Sutherland Legacy #2

Magnus “Strath” Sutherland has been tasked by King Bruce to collect a despicable man and bring him to Scotland for trial. Instead, he steals Eva de Clare from the chapel before her wedding vows to despicable Belfinch can take place. Over the time they move north to Scotland the two flirt a bit, talk a bit, grow to know one another quite a bit and fall in love. They arrive at his uncle’s and wait for her father and Belfinch to arrive so that they can be dealt with. Most of the book deals with the trip north and the getting to know one another but there is also the question of whether or not her mother is still alive, her father’s true part in the dealings of Belfinch and a few other issues that need to be dealt with. Yes, there is a HEA for the couple and it was a delight to read. Why? Because the two are so good together, both are admirable people and they so deserve to be happy with one another in the future. I am curious to find out who will be in book three.

Did I enjoy the book? Yes
Will I read more in the series? Yes

Thank you to Barclay Publicity for the ARC – This is my honest review.

THE HIGHLANDER'S STOLEN BRIDE by Eliza Knight is book Two in The Sutherland Legacy Series. This is the story of Magnus “Strath” Sutherland, Laird of Dornoch , Earl of Strathnavor and Eva de Clare. I have read the previous book, but feel you can make this a standalone book if you choose to do so. Eva's father has been black mailed for the last few years by Lord Belfinch who now demands her had in marriage. Lord Belfinch is a evil man and she begs her father not to do it but papers have been signed making her. But just before a vow is said Strath comes in and takes her away. Strath who is getting over a past mistake where he trusted a women only to be deceived by her that ended up hurting his father has taken a commission from King, Robert the Bruce to bring the evil Lord Belfinch in for his evil deeds and to find out of Lord Northwyck daughter Eva is safe. Strath thinks at first that Eva was wanting to marry Lord Belfinch and when she doesn't quickly say different proves his thoughts. But Eva was being forced to marry him but for some reason she is hoping to save her father at first and she was also somewhat scared of Strath from what she has heard of his people. But it doesn't take long before their feelings start to take over for each other and they are finding that they want each other.
Exciting read that is very hard to put down...loved it!

As expected This author continues The Sutherland Legacy with another brilliant and completely spellbinding book .
I personally loved Magnus ‘Strath’ Sutherland, he was everything I’d want from such a character, charming and strong minded with a bit of rogue thrown in , a loveable nature but slightly damaged to make you want to hug him .
Eva was , to begin with , downtrodden and put upon , but as you go through she develops into a feisty and wonderful woman , thoughtful and caring but not weak . The perfect match for Strath .
There is so much to this book with lots of plot changes and surprises , you won’t be bored ,just when you think you have the story another line is thrown in and leaves you dangling, it’s great .
Loved it and would happily read it again anytime .
I received an advance copy of this book and chose to submit a review

5/13/2022 - relisten

7/28/2022 - The Highlander’s Stolen Bride is the 2nd book in Eliza Knight’s Sutherland Legacy series. Like the first book, The Highlander’s Gift, this was a lot of fun to listen to. You could listen to this all on it’s own, but Strath is the brother of Bella and there are mentions of a few events from book 1 – so they’re best listened to in order.

I was a bit hesitant because of the word “stolen” in the title – but Eva kind of wanted to be stolen so there isn’t anything dark, forced, or coerced about their relationship. I liked Strath and Eva as individuals and within the romance Knight crafted for them. The relationship aspect is again fairly low angst with most of the conflict arising from external sources and protagonists. I also appreciate that Knight gives us a few chapters plus an epilogue to really enjoy Strath and Eva as a couple.

I continue to enjoy Knight’s writing and characters and am looking forward to the third book, The Highlander’s Hellion.

Narration:
I loved Antony Ferguson’s narration again. He again gives all the characters unique voices, accents, and mannerisms. His inflections and emotions really bring the story to life and make for an enjoyable audio.

At the time of this review, the audio is included in Audible Plus.

2023: Yeah the writing is weak but the chemistry is toe curling enough to illicit multiple readings.

2024: It's my comfort book at this point but the writing gets worse and worse with every passing year.

My Thoughts:

This is Book #2 of The Sutherland Legacy Series. I have read ARCs of both titles.
I liked book #1 of this series but I loved book #2.

This well written book is very absorbing and was difficult to put aside for life's necessities.

Strath storms his enemy's castle to find Eva who is about to be wed to an enemy of both herself and Strath.

Strath takes her prisoner because his king has deemed it so. This terrifying man literally plucks her from the wedding she never wanted.

He makes her his prisoner but who will end up more imprisoned? Will it be Eva who Strath has unknowingly rescued or Strath who loses his heart to her.

I gave this hard to put down story 4.8 of 5.0 stars for storyline and character development and a sensual rating of 3.5 of 5.0 flames. Ms. Knight has the ability of writing intimate scenes without being overly explicit.

I received a complimentary ARC from the publicist of this book to read and review. This in no way affected my opinon of this title which I read and reviewed voluntarily.

Eva de Clare daughter of Lord Northwyck was going to do something that she thought would never happen she was going to marry Lord Belfinch. When Eva first met Belfinch she couldn’t help but show her distaste for the man still her father was bound to Belfinch in ways that Eva didn’t know and also a debt must be paid, the debt being her. Eva tries to delay the marriage but nothing was going to stop it. As the wedding is proceeding Eva’s wish to stop the wedding is granted. Someone is approaching, that someone is Magnus “Strath” Sutherland the Laird of Dornoch and Earl of Strathnavor. Strath is sent on a mission by the King Robert the Bruce to determine if the daughter of Northwyck was dead and to stop Belfinch’s raid. When Strath gets to the chapel he abducts Eva instead.
The story starts off quite fast filled with action from the very beginning and doesn’t seem to slow down. Ms. Eliza Knight plots and writes her scenes quite vividly from the wedding to the abduction to the trek across the lush highlands and into the forests that I could see the places visually where Ms. Knight was taking me. I couldn’t help but love all the places and wish I could be there along with Strath and Eva. At times even though the book seemed to follow a similar formula as her stolen bride series the story still had enough to keep it exciting and was still different from all those stories even though I haven’t finished the series. Also this book can stand alone with no problem since I never read the first one. Eva is an easily likable heroine courageous and strong willed. She isn’t scared to stand up to her father even though she shows that she is frightened of Strath just a little bit even though he promises not to harm her and even becomes quite a worthy hero becoming quite an adept protector as opposed to a kidnapper. Strath at first seems gruff but really has a heart of gold and despite his harshness was hard not to fall for. This is definitely a feel good story with a great happily ever after and I do look forward to reading the next in the series!

I write my reviews in real time as I experience the story. Currently, I am listening to the audiobook.

I enjoyed experiencing the beginning of the book through Eva's eyes, and it added to the suspense. It definitely got me hooked into the story, though I didn't care for her cutting her father any slack when, as a reader, I do not feel (at this point early in the book) that he deserved it. It didn't last long though before her intelligence and spunk started to spiral into her assuming the wrong things (that he burned down the village) and starting to fall into insta-love.

Strath, in typical "hero" fashion, spent the first while in the book jumping to all of the wrong conclusions. It's hard to consider him an intelligent Laird when he manages to use his brain to come to the wrong conclusions. I also did not personally enjoy how much time he considered raping Eva, even if he did decide not to. The fact that he even thought about it tarnishes his "honor" for me. He does seem to love his warhorse, Beast, and that does redeem him a little for me.

I also enjoyed their tactics to get into Eva's father's holding, and the book did a great job of making you hate the characters that were meant to be hated and pity the characters that were meant to be pitied.

There are parts of the book that are a little frustrating (such as Eva saying there was no good time to tell Strath that she is half Scottish, and her holding that information like it was so important, when in reality, telling the Scottish may have made them treat her better).

There are also parts that I'm so glad they could have gone with the easy way out (Strath forgiving Duff without punishment), but the Author chose to hold true to the path of what would likely happened (the lashing) instead of the sugar coated option.

The author did a good job of wrapping up storylines and I enjoyed the anticipation of learning what happened to Eva's mother. It was enjoyable, and I would have loved to see that storyline fleshed out a little more.

All in all, a good book!

I have been waiting on this book and was not disappointed, could not put it down read it in one day. The story revolves around Magnus “Strath” Sutherland and the lovely Eva de Clare, he is sent to England by Robert the Bruce to capture Lord Belfinch an evil and hateful man that has been raiding and killing all along the lowlands. He has traced him to the home of Lord Northwyck, the father to Eva, who is forcing her into marriage with Belfinch. Nothing she does and says will change his mind and as they stand before the priest our hero Strath appears and stops the wedding. The fun begins from there I found Eva a lovely person inside and out, who is alone in the world, she has a father who is weak, a mother who has been abducted and presumed dead, but is all as it seems, things are revealed that will shake Eva to her core. Strath has also been asked to find out if Eva is alive and well by Robert his King, why he does not know. He takes Eva in her father’s place as his prisoner, fights the hateful Belfinch injuring him, then takes off with his warriors and Eva for Scotland. The story has lots of beloved characters you will recognize Magnus Surtherland and his lovely wife Arbella, Strath’s father and mother, and Jamie and Lorna from the stolen bride’s series. The love that grows between Strath and Eva is wonderful to see, will they get their happy ever after, they have a lot to go through to get to that point, a lot of secrets, and lies are unveiled along the way. I hope you enjoy their journey with them. The love they feel for each other leaps of the page, well written story. Thank you Eliza Knight for another great read.

4.5 Stars!

The Highlander's Stolen Bride is book 2 in the Sutherland Legacy series and it can be read as a standalone. I suggest reading book 1 first, because we met Magnus/Strath there, and because if you're a fan of Highlander/medieval books, you just can't miss any of these.

After reading two books by her, Ms. Knight is quickly becoming one of my go-to historical authors. Her books are not only highly entertaining, but the heroines are fiery and strong and don't resort to some of the subterfuges that have turned me away from most MF stories.

Eva was delightful. Unconventional and fun, and very honest, even if she kept a few secrets to herself until she felt she could trust Strath and his men. Still, she wasn't one to shy away from doing any kind of labor or from just enjoying being outdoors or even giving in to the desire Magnus elicited in her. Magnus was swoon-worthy, too. He was a great leader and yet, compassionate and fair. And I just loved them together, they were sweet and hot and just perfect.

I loved the secondary cast, with the exception of Belfinch and Eva's father, of course. The whole deal with Duff felt a bit incomplete to me, though. I was hoping for an additional scene, especially considering Eva went out of her way to cure him and how much trouble he tried to stir for Strath.

Overall, this was a fantastic read! Well-written and with a great storyline and a sweet romance. Definitely a must-read!

I have high hopes of one day reading all the books in this series, folks. After all, Eliza Knight is one of my favorite authors in this particular genre. This book did fit in seamlessly with the same theme as the others I've read out of order so far. However, though I certainly enjoyed seeing this main couple get their HEA, I can't help but feel, in the latter part especially, events eventually just played out in a predictable sort of way. It stole some of the thunder from my overall enjoyment. It has left me conflicted on how to fairly rate it star wise.

I must admit my standards are high themselves when it comes to this genre. I've lost count of how many times this author has met or exceeded them. Up until the stereotypical, cookie cutter conclusion, it was a 4 star read for me. It certainly wasn't bad, just the ending resolution of it all wasn't as original/good as I had hoped.

Title: The Highlander's Stolen Bride, Series: The Sutherland Legacy (Book 2), Author: Eliza Knight, Pages: 211, pub date: 7/31/18, stand-alone but part of a series, get to know each other first, romance safe.

Book .5 -The Highlander's Quest
Book 1 - The Highlander's Gift
Book 2 - The Highlander's Bride
Book 3 - The Highlander's Hellion
Book 4 - The Highlander's Secret Vows

3.5 Stars - This is book 2 in The Sutherland Legacy Series. I enjoyed book one much more than Strath and Eva's story. This one did not captivate me as much as Bella and Nial's story did. The pace on this one was slower. The story is still a good story. Magnus "Strath" Sutherland is still reeling from his guilt because of the betrayal of his betroth. He feels it was his fault the whole problem ended up on his father's doorstep. It could have had severe consequences. Thankfully, it did not, but Strath still is dealing with his shame. His father does not blame him at all for what had happened. But when the king gives him an opportunity with an assignment he feels he can redeem himself in his father's eyes. He must bring back a vial English Lord to his King while trying to find out the truth about a lass. He thwarts a wedding ceremony and discovers that the lass is not dead, but alive. When she volunteers to go with him, he takes her up on her offer. He is leary to trust a lass again

Eva de Clare is being forced into a marriage with an evil man who she believes is blackmailing her father. She's been told that her mother died of a fever but there are signs that make her believe that her mother could be alive. Currently she is doomed to endure a life of brutality being forced to marry an older man who is evil. What a blessing when a Scottish heathen breaks into the chapel and kidnaps her.

Eva loves her father, even though he is draining their Earldom dry at the behest of the odious Lord Belfinch. Things become untenable, however, when he offers her hand in marriage. She sees no way out - until a band of Scots invade the keep and rescue her from the altar. They are led by the handsome and honourable laird Strath, who has orders of his own.

I enjoyed the character of Eva, as she reached out to help people despite her own circumstances. I can't say she was always the most sensible but she meant well and that counts for a lot. The growing bond between her and Strath was nice - they didn't fall in love immediately, though it was a close thing, but you do get to see them bicker and tease each other. Strath has his own problems and tended to overreact, and I wish someone had called him out on that.

I do feel like the ending came rather abruptly, for the number of plot lines that were hanging. I have no problem with the content of the end, but it seemed to be a deus ex (or three) and leaned a bit heavily on telling rather than showing.

While a quick Google lets me know this is second in a series that is a spinoff of another series, I thought it stood well on its own and was not overwhelmed by past characters. This was a solid Scottish romance where everyone got what they deserved, but while I liked it, I didn't love it.

We visit the Sutherland Hierarchy once again only this is Magnus's son and his home is Castle Dornoch. He is on a mission for the King Robert the Bruce to stop the English lords who are raidng, killing and burning out lowland villages. He is also to find Lady Eva Clare as they have been told she died but they don't believe it to be true. So this is a double mission for the King that he must complete.
Eva's father has been paying off an Englishman by the name of Belfinch and has raised his tenants rents to the point that they are all starving and leaving. He has promised Eva's hand to the scoundrel as well and they are in the middle of the wedding when Strath and his men storm Northwyck. Strath takes down Belfinch and Eva's da fakes a heart attack so in order to be removed and not marry Belfinch she offers herself up as hostage to save her father from being taken or killed. While Strath knows he hasn't killed Belfinch he rather likes the idea of taking her since the King was looking for her in the first place.
This story goes from her being a prisoner to a friend to a love match and to see how this takes place you'll need to read The Sutherland Legacy book 2 to see how Eva and Strath end up happily married and with her mother in her life who Eva previously thought to be dead.

Great read and relaxing way to speed a Saturday afternoon!

Magnus “Strath” Sutherland, Laird of Dornoch, accepts a commission from the king stop an English lord’s path of destruction across Scotland’s borders. He rides into Earl of Northwyck castle to capture the villain and instead he kidnaps and rescues at the alter Eva de Clare, youngest daughter of the Earl of Northwyck. Eva was being forced to marry the man who was blackmailing her father, a man so vile and disgusting she was desperate to escape the marriage she begs the Highlander to take her instead of her father. Strath know Lord Belfinch will come after the lovely maid and his bag of coins to kill him for stealing what’s his. Eva is whisked across the Scottish border as a prisoner of war only to discover her Highlander is more than she first thought. He’s not the murdering man she thought who destroyed so many villages she noticed as they made their escape to the border, he’s kind, generous, and loyal to his Clan. The author does an excellent job of mixing some history into this action packed romance and adventure of a lifetime as these two find their HEA after being kidnapping by the enemy. This is my honest opinions after I voluntarily read a copy of this book that was provided to me with no requirements for a review.

Perceptions can be misleading... Magnus Strath Sutherland, Laird of Dornoch, refuses to marry after being betrayed by his betrothed's father. Getting away from Scotland and all that is painful is what he needs. Accepting a commission at the Scottish border by the king sounds like a great way to do that. That's when he learns of the upcoming nuptials of an enemy to a beautiful and defiant English lass and decides to steal the bride. Eva de Clare, the youngest daughter of the Earl of Northwick, is about to be married off to a cruel lord when a terrifying Highlander interrupts the ceremony. Scared to death but relived in equal measures, Eva goes with the gorgeous man who sees her as an enemy. At first, Strath intends to toss the Sassenach lass into a dark cell and forget about her, but she intrigues him. The desire between them soon becomes palpable, but after one betrayal, Strath is afraid to trust his instincts and believe in the beautiful woman who he knows he could fall for. But when the enemy comes after what is his will he be able to overcome his fears and trust his heart? Another action-packed and sensual Highland romance by Eliza Knight.

After a harsh betrayal, Magnus “Strath” Sutherland, Laird of Dornoch, accepts a commission from the king to squelch an English lord’s siege at the Scottish border. What better way to torment his new English enemy than to defeat his army and steal his beautiful bride. Eva de Clare, youngest daughter of the Earl of Northwyck, is pledged in matrimony to a cruel lord blackmailing her family. Her salvation comes in the form of a terrifying Highlander who interrupts the ceremony. But salvation turns to horror when she’s plucked from where she stands and whisked across the Scottish border. From the beginning I was hooked. As Strath and Eva travel to the highlands, things are not what they appear to either of them. They both think the worst, but as they get to know each other and the fiery attraction consumes them the truth will unfold!

I loved this book! I fell in love with the characters, Strath is fierce, sexy, funny, and so sweet! Eva is caring and feisty! I really had a hard time putting it down. This is such a fun story to read, all I can say is Eliza Knight did it again!

I read one of Eliza's books for another book tour a few years back. I thought The Highlander's Sin was good. The Highlander's Stolen Bride was superb. I instantly fell in love with Evan and Strath. These were two people you just adored. The best part was that Strath wasn't the alpha Highlander, he was really a big softy when it came to Eva. If you don't love him, there is seriously something wrong with you. He is perfect.

Eva was kidnapped by Strath who was under orders by Robert The Bruce to return her to Scotland, taking her from her soon to be husband, the detestable Belfinch who was blackmailing her father.

The way the relationship between Eva and Strath grew as they made their way into Scotland was wonderful. These two were definitely made for each other and their banter was fun.

I also love how more was revealed about Eva's mother and the reason her father did so little to protect her from Belfinch.

The ending was the best HEA any reader could ask for. If you love tales of hunky Scots, Eliza Knight writes the most perfect romances.

If you love suspense, betrayal, and Scottish romance all rolled into one, you should love reading “The Highlander’s’ Stolen Bride” by Eliza Knight! I’ve read several of Eliza’s books and she’s a master storyteller. Her characters are so well developed that you’ll either love the hero’s or heroines, and you’ll most like hate the nasty, villains. I love how Eva helps Strath learn to handle his self perceived humiliation as well as his lack of trust for any females. Once burned twice shy some say. This book is well worth the read for too many reasons to list, but the unexpected twists and turns keep you reading until the end. I’d recommend this book easily to my Scottish Romance lover friends and anyone else thinking of trying out a new genre.

Magnus "Strath" Sutherland has been sent by his king to capture the men responsible for some horrific raids on Scottish villages. Also he must find out the truth about the reported death of a young lady.
Eva de Clare can't understand what has happened with her father lately. He has been taxing his people into near starvation, and giving the money to the evil brute who is now demanding her hand in marriage. No amount of tears or rage is going to change her destiny.
There is a lot more to find out about both our lead characters lives throughout the story. Action packed and full of fun and emotion. A wonderful adventure through the highlands. I loved it.

Eve de Clare. is the youngest daughter, of the Earl of Northwyck and has been promised in marriage to a cruel lord that is blackmailing her father. Her outlook on life has become a horror realizing she is to be his wife. She is trapped and has no way out of the situation that is before her. However, her savior comes in the form of Magnus "Strath" Sutherland as he steals her away over the boarders and into the safety of the Highlands. Eliza Knight has provided us with another wonderful Scottish romance with plenty of adventure and romance to keep you turning the pages. What a great adventure to enjoy.

Following a good Scottish Tradition, Magnus-aka Strath, steals his hated rival's bride. What he doesn't expect is for her to steal his heart. Eva is appalled that her father has basically sold her to the highest bidder. This is not what she expected from a man that should love and protect her. A reprieve arrives in a very unusual way-Strath arrives. Having lost any trust in women, Strath doesn’t treat his stolen bride with respect. Eva, with her sass and bravery, slowly begins to thaw Strath’s hard heart. That and the realization they have a common enemy, they come to an understanding and forever love.

(Strath & Eva): i am really living this series. This one was so plot twistingly fun. Eva is being forced to marry at her father's demands and with her sister already married and her mother gone there's no one to fight for her, except herself. Her betrothed is mean and abusive and she has to find a way out. Before she's able to, men come into the kingdom and attack her men. This is where she meets Laird Strath. These two are constantly bickering at first. The attraction is definitely there and they become close after a long journey to Scotland on the same horse. There's so much mystery in this book along with a a steamy relationship in the making. Loved it.

Sadly disappointed

I have to stretch yo give this a 3stzr rating. I had looked forward for this to be released and have had to force myself to finish. It seemed to have a good story line but this just wasn't Eliza Knight's best writing for me. It seemed to drag out....it seemed more silly than funny in parts. It just didn't get me involved into it. It was like someone else had written it...more a "beginner" author. I loved Niall and Bella's story and all the other Stolen Brides storiez, sadly this one does not come close to the same level.
