Cheating the Devil

Rate this book
A Deimos/Trident Security/Delta Force Crossover:

Delta Force Colonel Bradley “Tank” Barton never expected to fall for a woman with a bad-ass past, but fate had other plans, and he certainly wasn’t complaining.

Avery Knapp had worked as an undercover agent before burning out after twenty years. To redeem her wounded soul, she earned a nursing degree and now cares for injured or ill covert operatives who require someone with a high security clearance.

While on vacation, Brad thought his only worry was introducing his adult daughter, Lori, to the woman who’d captured his heart. But revenge is on someone’s agenda. When Lori and Avery disappear, Brad needs operatives from Delta, Deimos, and Trident Security to help find them before it’s too late. He wouldn't survive if he lost the two women he loves more than life itself.

Cheating the Devil is part of Susan Stoker's Kindle World.

Every time Samantha A. Cole writes a book, I'm giddy just wanting to get my hands on it. This book was so darn good. It's a wonderful story of a mature couple, Brad and Avery. Both have been in the military and are semi retired. When they go on a vacation with Brad's daughter Lori, and her boyfriend, they don't know that someone evil has spotted Avery and has revenge on his mind. Avery and Lori are kidnapped and that means that Brad and Cameron swing into action to get their ladies back. Brad calls in his buddies from his Delta Force unit to help out. Who has taken the women and what does he want? You will get totally sucked into this book as Samantha weaves her twists and turns in this book. It will grab you and keep you engulfed in the story. It is so nice to see a story that features an older mature couple who are comfortable in their own skins and who deal with the sexual aspects of a body that isn't "young" anymore. I totally loved this book and loved seeing characters from "Handling Haven".

I loved this book. This is the second Delta Force/Demios crossover book. Oh, my Avery and Brad, the two main characters who we met briefly in Handling Haven are sp yummy. I was thrilled to read how their romance evolved and about their pasts. Samantha tells a great story and these characters are so well suited for each other. I love that they are well into middle age and not in there 20 like so many books now a day. This was well written and true to life. Of course, nothing goes smoothly when they go on holiday and reinforcements have to be called in to save the day.

Brad and Avery’s story was so good! While on vacation something happens and a team of special forces must come to the rescue. I enjoy all the covert missions and the alpha males coming to the rescue. It has some characters that cross over from other series so they made it extra good. It may be a novella but it in jam packed with a great storyline!

I loved this novella, having previously met Brad and Avery in Havens book I was excited to know they were going to get their own book. This novella is not only filled with drama and suspense but it’s ultimately a love story. Just because we’re older doesn’t mean love has passed us by. This is re affirmed within this story. As always we catch up with a few of our favourite characters, not all but some lol. I was on the edge of my seat with this book. It made me keep turning the pages (figuratively ) and I couldn’t put it down. Great book Ms Cole. Loved it

Brad and Avery are absolutely perfect together and I love the fact that they were an older couple. Going to Aruba for a get away with Brad’s daughter and her boyfriend so they can get to know him better turns into a nightmare for Avery and Lori – will Cameron and Brad along with Jordyn and Carter be able to save them in time. You won’t regret this read.

Another fantastic book! Brad and Avery take a vacation to Aruba. It is supposed to be 7 days of fun in the sun. When they arrive at the airport, Avery senses someone watching her. Has someone from her past caught up with her? What happens next kept me on the edge of my seat through the entire book! Definite must read!

A fast paced page turning book that should be added to the top of your TBR list.

Brady and Avery were the perfect H/h and seeing old Trident and Deimos friends was just an added bonus. The right blend of tension and action keep you reading and the flow was fantastic.

Delta Force Colonel Brad Barton and ex Black Ops Agent Avery Knapp have earned themselves a vacation in paradise to help them celebrate their relationship. While in Aruba, Brad plans on introducing Avery to his adult daughter Lori, who, in return plans on introducing her dad to Cameron, the Marine she is dating. It sounds like heaven, right? Except, when you are from the world of Black Ops, you can never fully leave it.

When Avery feels as if someone is watching her on the Island, she reaches out to her covert contacts for some intel and possible back up and what they discover is bone chilling. It seems that Avery’s final assignment as an undercover agent has come back for revenge and doesn’t plan on letting her leave the island of Aruba alive.

When Avery and Lori go missing, it’s up to Brad, Cam and operatives from Deimos, Trident Security and Delta Force to rescue them before it’s too late.

Samantha A Cole did a fabulous job of bringing together characters from three separate series in a joint rescue mission flawlessly. Fans of her writing will recognize characters from both Deimos and Trident Security, while Susan Stoker fans get a few glimpses of her Delta Force heros.

This book is action backed with not only intrigue and suspense but plenty of romance as well! I really love that Brad and Avery act like newlyweds and are caught up in their new romance even though they are are a older couple age wise.

Avery is a complete and total bada$$. She may have left her duties as an undercover agent behind years ago, but she still has it and will not be taken down easily. Brad is no slouch either, although he’s happy to hand over the reigns to everyone’s favorite black ops operative Carter since he’s way too close to the situation with both his woman and his daughter having been taken. Lori and Cameron, while not the main focus of the book are a really sweet couple that I hope the author revisits in a future story.

Cheating the Devil is truly a whirlwind of book that had me finishing in one sitting! It’s a fast and fun read that incorporates everything that Samantha A Cole does best . . . a well developed plot, characters with depth, romance with extreme heat, action from start to finish, and, a visit from everyone’s favorite spy who never fails to show up to help save the day. 5 stars!

"Cheating the Devil" is a true shining silver star in more ways than one, not only was it yet again another wonderfull read but Ms.Cole has given us a love story between two kick ass Fifty somethings!

Love is not for the young anymore!
If your a follower of Ms Coles series you will recognize our two love birds from her previous book "Handling Haven"
Delta Forces' Colonel Bradley Barton and Avery Knapp, former cia and Deimos agent, these two meet when Avery who retired from the Cia makes a career change and becomes a nurse and now spends her time working for Deimos caring for injured agents and at the time is nurse to Haven and Brad Barton is Colonel to Frisco, Haven's love . these two fell for each other quickly and after several months together have decided to vacation together in Aruba. A long overdue vacation. the couple will be meeting Brad's daughter and her boyfreind .Cameron . The innocuous vacation however soon takes a turn when Avery's built in radar for trouble goes off, but she can not seem to pin it down .
These two will soon find out that what Avery was sensing is a former foe from her cia days, one out for his pound of flesh and for revenge.
When Avery's enemy manages to get her and Brad's daughter Lori; Deimos rises to the occasion and sends in one of my favorite Deimos agents Carter and his love Jordyn to assist and not tobe outdone two Trident boys show up to help.
However for both Brad and Avery the realization that they truly love each other is the ultimate .
Well that is the short synopsis you will have to pick up the book to get the sexy times,
An arc coy was kindly gifted to me in exchange for an honest review!

Once again Samantha A Cole brings us a gripping, intense and action packed read. what was meant to be a relaxing vacation, turns into a rescue mission.

Brad and Avery were introduced to us in the first book of the series. Avery is the private nurse to Haven. Haven was shot in the back whilst on mission and Avery was assigned to help her recover. This is where Avery and Brad met. Avery used to be an undercover agent and Brad works for Delta Force in covert operations for his country.

Avery thought her past would be that, her past. Leaving her job to focus on helping the victims/injured special forces service men and women. Little did she know her final mission was about to catch up with her. Brad is a typical alpha male. I personally love it. But when Brads world is turned upside down, will he still be able to do what he has been trained to do. Can he save his lover and his daughter?

I loved the book and the way Samantha entwine's the charchters from her other series'. A mission is not the same without Carter making an appearance and a few dead bodies left behind.

I can't wait for more to come from Samantha and by the looks of the 'coming soon' notices in the back. We are in for a treat.

Brad and Avery just wanted to vacation with Brad's daughter and her boyfriend. Avery and Brad, both, are prior military. Avery and her spidey sense knew something was off from the moment she landed. She wasnt expecting who it would be. She knew her work would eventually bite her in the rear.
Brad wasnt sure he would find the one again . Him being older and his line of work, he knew it would be hard to settle down. That is until he met Avery. Avery understood his past and his present. She accepted him for who she was. When everything goes wrong during their vacation, he knew he had to rally the troops and act fast.

Sam always blows my mind with her writing. She has the touch of bringing you to the edge of your seat. You just can't read her books fast enough. Her stories are always tense and exciting. She throws the romance in and she has written another mind blowing book.

Samantha Cole and her Cheating the Devil has become a number one best seller!!!

congrats girl!! you did it!!!

They be older and she might be retired, but they still can kick ass. Avery is a retired DEMIOS operator (remember Carter? Yeah, she worked with him and his yumminess may make an appearance). She's a nurse now. We met her first in Handling Haven. Brad is the Commanding officer from Susan Stoker's Delta Force. The chemistry is great between them and I had to remember that I wasn't reading about some twenty somethings, well until Samantha reminded me with a comment about age and dryness. Oh yeah, she made it very clear that the body can still have fun after a certain age with a little help from the pharmacy (and no, not the little blue pill). Loved the cameos by characters and enjoyed the roasting of Ian (who doesn't make an appearance but is referenced).

A much needed vacation in Aruba turns into a nightmare when a criminal spots Avery & decides to take revenge. Brad & Avery are a mature couple that have been in the business for years. How'd a criminal from Avery's past find her? Can Brad & his friends save her?

Samantha Cole manages to put as much drama in this novella as most writers do a novel. The plot moves quickly but keeps the reader fully involved. With the pop ins from other characters in the series, this story is full of interactions with the military showing family isn't just blood. Another riveting story from a terrific author.

Samantha Cole is a wordsmith. She carefully crafts each story for us and there is always action, intrigue, heart stopping suspense and of course it's all weaved within a love story.

This super hot couple are not your average romance book couple. They're both mature and have a resume of covert black ops. While on vacation in Aruba an enemy from Avery's past targets her for revenge for the death of his son.

Chao kidnaps Avery along with Brad's daughter Lori. Delta Force colonel Brad with Carter, Jordyn, Lori's boyfriend Cameron and a host of other familiar faces from Trident/Deimos and Delta Force execute a rescue mission. Will they get to Avery in time?

gripping and tense story, full of worry and fear. A supposed vacation goes completely wrong just days into it, leaving an unusual team to work together to bring about a safe outcome for all involved. I was chuckling one minute and on the edge of my seat the next in this suspenseful and exciting book, this is every bit as great as not only all Samantha's books and Susan Stoker's as well. Fabulous plot, loved having just the right amount of romance included. This is ideal for any readers of Military or Private Security Suspense, not overly long so great for fitting into a short time frame.

Samantha Cole masterfully interweaves danger, intrigue, suspense and romance into pure reading delight. Strong, dynamic characters lend authenticity to the fast paced storylines. The fact that the two main characters are a sexy pair of fifty somethings is a great change of pace.

Avery Knapp and Brad Barton along with Brad's daughter Lori and her boyfriend Cameron are on what should be a carefree vacation in Aruba that turns into a nightmare. Avery's life hangs in the balance as an old enemy from her Deimos days resurfaces. Carter, Alvarez, Kell, Atwood, Brad and Cameron, all operatives from Trident, Deimos and military special ops, make up the team set to rescue Lori and Avery, hopefully before it's too late. Using all resources available to them Brad leads the team in a successful mission and rescues both women.

What should have been a romantic vacation ends up as so much more in this fantastic story. Avery had left her operative life behind and was now concentrating on getting her HEA when a man from her past finds her in Aruba. This definitely put a wrench in the vacation, and as more operatives come out to help Brad rescue her, lives hang in the balance. Will Brad be able to save her? Or will this be the end of his chance at finally being happy? I loved reuniting with old and new characters in this series and the storyline was another masterpiece from Samantha A. Cole. I cannot get enough of her books!!

Cheating The Devil
A Deimos/ Trident Security/ Delta Team Force team crossover
Deimos # 2
Samantha A Cole
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This the perfect afternoon read when you want strong alpha men, super strong women and a good dose of gun firing, assault throwing and some dead bodies to finish off. These books are love stories with a twist. Always carrying the underlying message of family is forever, and for the men Of special it is another day until it is one of their own.

Taking a well earned holiday, Avery and Brad head to Aruba along with his daughter Lori and her boyfriend Cameron ( whom brad is not at all fond of, even if he is military). This awesome foursome get to spend some quality time together, until Avery’s sensors tell her someone is watching. Trying to push it aside she knows that something is going to go down. Never imagining it will be herself, the target.

When the girls go missing after a shopping expedition, Brad uses everything he has to get his girlfriend and daughter back. With the help of Carter, Jordyn (my favs, but please don’t tell the Trident men, they might get offended) and Cameron along with Jase, Kell, Troy and other Deimos, Detla and Trident members to source and get their girls back… But with a man and a huge grudge, a number of places they could be, the group will have to turn to the family involved itself to get the answers. In typical Samantha Cole style it ends in a blaze of bullets, threats and of course saving the women, it won’t be without casualties.

HMOG Sexy silver haired hottie and an intelligent, over 50 heroine who can go head to head with those half their age!

Brad tried marriage once and his career got in the way. Now matured he has fund love again (although not quite said the words yet) with the lovely Avery. Avery put her career with the CIA before any hopes of a family. But once she reached saturation point and retrained as a nurse, she kind of missed not having a partner.

Now these two have found each other it's time to test the waters with their very first vacation and mix in a little dad and daughter time. But as per usual everything goes a bit pear shaped and Avery's past comes back to haunt her and puts Brad's daughter in danger too.

First romantic vacation and meeting your others half's daughter and her boyfriend was always going to be a bit stressful but Avery did not figure on this level of stress! Brad is fab as the long absentee dad who just wants to be dad and grill the boyfriend. But said boyfriend is a bit more like him than he thought! Whilst Lori could have guilt tripped Brad, she is a level headed girl who knows what his job entailed and she was happy to be with him when she could.

Cameron was brilliant. He wanted to make a good impression but wasn't a doormat to Brad either. Great mix of family dysfunction and danger! Later in life sex handled with care and dignity but still hot enough to melt the sheets!

This is me all caught up with Samantha A Cole's world she has created across her series and I can only say that I'm sad I now have to wait like the rest of her fans for her next instalment of all of my favourites. This is Brad and Avery's tale and though it is a crossover, I still loved every minute of it and will now search out more from Susan Stoker's Special Forces world!

I was intrigued by Avery when she was first introduced to us in Handling Haven and I'm glad we learn more about her and Brad in this book. It was also so nice to see some familiar but ever present faces and I love that about all of Samantha's books - she knows as a reader we want to keep past characters alive and popping by every so often and that what she skilfully has managed in all of these books. You don't have to have read any of the previous books, whether it be in this series or the previous ones, but if you have, you will catch glimpses of those we have come to love and for this, I love Samantha and her dedication to her 'team'.

My only grumble is that now I have to wait for my next glimpse and I'm not sure whose story I want to read most....I guess only time will tell whose tale this will be as there are many more characters to get to their HEA in this beautifully crafted and brilliantly executed series!

Cheating The Devil is another captivating story from terrific author Samantha A. Cole. Her vibrant and vivid writing style made me feel is if I was right there with the characters. She is an author that manages to draw the reader into the story right from the beginning. Her books are a must read for me.

I already liked Avery when I was reading 'Handling Haven' and I was happy to learn that this book is about her and Brad. Needless to say, I fell in love with the couple. Their chemistry is sizzling and I very much like that this is an older couple. As always, the book kept me on the edge of my seat.

It started really innocent with a vacation in Aruba to get to know the friend of Brad's daughter Lori. But then Avery's past catches up with her and she and Lori are kidnapped. Now it is up to Brad and his friends - especially Carter and Jordyn, which are my favorite couple of the Trident Security series - to find them in time. This is a book I will read over and over again!

Cheating The Devil

When Samantha A. Cole writes a book you can be guaranteed it will be kick ass and include alpha males and the independent strong women they love as well as evil villain ready to be taken down. Cheating the Devil is an adrenaline filled thrill ride of kidnapping, torture, Chinese bad guys and Evey ABC agency to the rescue. Brad and Avery are older than your normal romance novel couple but they are so well written that their chemistry is not surprising. As always Cole has detailed and intense character development and storyline. You are immediately enthralled with this book and will not put it down until you are finished. Secondary characters give great weight to this story and give us a glimpse into our favorite characters. Any book with T. Carter and Jordyn in it is alright by me. This book is intense, a quick read and a great addition to Susan Stoker's Kindle World. Well done.

A good story involving the Delta Commander of Frisco's team and a woman who has led multiple lives. Avery has been a CIA agent, an operative for Deimos and now serves as a nurse for wounded special ops injured. She ha a very high security clearance and can work with their wounded.

When she works with Haven (Handling Haven), she meets Colonel Brad Barton (Tank), a divorced commander with a long memory, a longer career, and a hard body. He thinks Avery is amazing and their common experiences and background make them the perfect couple. On vacation, Avery's past comes up to smack them, in the form of an old enemy who has sworn vengeance.

Some old friends fly in to help: Carter, Jordyn, Jase, two Deimos operators, and of course, some remote help from Nathan and Ghost. There is a happy ending with some suspense first. An older romance always works well and this one is better than most.

Brad & Avery

Samantha Cole’s Trident Universe has multiple series that all interconnect with each other. It’s an outstanding BDSM/Military/Special Ops/Security/Action/Suspense/Romance Series. (While this book is in Samantha Cole’s spin off series Deimos, it also is apart of the Kindle Worlds Special Forces.)
I read this book a year and a half ago and the other books available at that time, and I have not found another series with these themes as good as this one is since, so I decided to do a re-read and review each as I go. Definitely follow the authors reading order to get the most out of this series.
Brad is a Colonel in Delta that falls in love with Avery a former Deimos operative, while vacationing with Brad’s adult daughter, Avery and his daughter are kidnapped. It’s a race for Brad and his associates to find them before they are killed. It was really nice to read a book with both an older Hero and an older Heroine.

I love reading new books by Samantha A Cole and Cheating the Devil is just fantastic. I haven't read all the Deimos, Trident Security or Doms of the Covenant yet but I'm slowly working on them. But I have read the prequel to Cheating the Devil which is Handling Haven and highly recommend reading it first as it plays a huge part in this novel.

Brad and Avery go on a well needed and earned vacation to Aruba before Haven's wedding. But little do they know that a sinister man bent on revenge towards Avery will lead to danger for both of them. Avery will also be meeting Brad's daughter Lori for the first time as well as her soon-to-be fiance. But they will need everyone to find both girls before the enemy kills them. Susan's Delta Force (Brad is their CO, Trident, Deimos security agents, and someone who will defy his relative to rescue and get both of them to safety once again.

Get book and hopefully Avery and Brad will be back for another book in the future.

You’ve done it again Samantha.
Loved it. It was a bit darker than the other Trident/ Deimos books, but warranted by the story. Enjoyed catching up with familiar characters and the introduction of a few new ones, even though they may not appear in future books. Having enjoyed Susan Stokers Delta Force Heroes, it was great to have them mentioned in the epilogue (not giving anything away). I really liked the fact that Avery, a former agent, was the main focus of the book. It was great to see a woman in this role and it be her past that set the story.
Can’t wait for the next one.🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
