Legacy of the Heart #3

The Taste of Romance

Rate this book
Divorcee Madison McKay has no place else to go — literally. Her cheating ex drained their accounts, saddled her with a mountain of debt, then left the country. She did the only thing she could to support her kids, sold their big house in the city, and moved to her grandmother’s farm, where she could stay rent-free while she worked and tried to pay down the bills. Her children resent losing their city life, and while Madison isn’t happy about it either, there’s nothing she can do.

Millionaire recluse Wade Ellis has turned his back on his fortune, choosing to live a simple life, giving his money to charity and using none on himself. Madison is everything Wade cannot stand in a woman. Spoiled and pretentious, she’s used to the finer things and makes no secret of it. But when he sees how hard she’s trying — and failing — he feels like he has no choice but to help her. Especially because underneath her designer duds, she has a heart of gold. The trouble is, once Madison realizes that he won’t ever go back to the life he left behind, the one she desperately wants, even though he can, will she still take him as he is?

A self-professed crazy chicken lady, Danica Favorite loves the adventure of living a creative life. She loves to explore the depths of human nature and follow people on the journey to happily ever after. Though the journey is often bumpy, those bumps are what refine imperfect characters as they live the life God created them for. Oops, that just spoiled the ending of all of Danica’s stories. Then again, getting there is all the fun.

Contemporary Christian romance. I have been slowly reading my way through the last few books in the Arcadia Valley romance series, not wanting to come to the end. This one was another winner, and definitely made me cry. Madison (one of the Bigby grandchildren) was left by her husband. He fled the country, leaving her a ton of credit card debt and three kids to raise. Since she had always stayed home, she had no income of her own and moved in with her grandmother and cousins at the Bigby farm. Wade lives a quiet life as the farm manager at Bigby Farms. He thinks of the Bigby family as his own, even though technically they are his employers. He's always been a bit of a loner, until Madison comes to the farm, clearly heartbroken and ready to start anew. Can these two adults make a go of it with all the drama facing Madison and her kids?

A beautiful story of second chances, of finding who you are as a child of God, and discovering what is important in life. I can't wait to read the last book in this multi-author community saga next.

A tear jerking, gut wrenching, well crafted inspiring romance dealing with contemporary issues of our time. 1. A stay at home mom, who suddenly finds herself divorced with no job and a poor self image, due to her ex-husband's verbal abuse. 2. First impressions are not always accurate. Clothes make the person. Not all people who look homeless are homeless. 3. Hurting children, who are impertinent due to neglectful fathers trying to impress others rather than spending time with their families. 4. Plus tiny houses, lavender farming and products, and farm to table themes. Danica Favorite draws the reader into her story with down to earth characters, twist and turn plot, and a believable resolution. I especially had to chuckle about rutabaga soup - my mom made it and I loved it - not so the characters of this story.

Madison has an interest in reconnecting with her father’s side of the family, thanks to the efforts of Allie. As she and her children move in, with a huge chip on her oldest child’s shoulder, she learns that her family does love her. She takes on jobs around the farm and experiences growth and acceptance in herself, all while maintaining her faith. Wade is scruffy looking on purpose, but is the one put in charge of teaching her the tasks around the farm. Wonderful story in dealing with emotional wounds and overcoming. Love the community of the family too.

Wonderful clean romance

Loved the story. I had no idea from previous books that Wade was so young. I enjoyed his backstory. The author did well with gaining sympathy from me for Madison & disgust for her ex husband. I did wonder if Allie's husband would ever be mentioned. In Allie's story, Caroline & Hayden weren't mentioned for a very long time. In this book, everyone except Cole was mentioned at the beginning. It helped me remember the characters, as I read a lot of books. Good writing as always by this author.

Madison and her children came home to Arcadia Valley after husband and father deserted them. Madison did not grow up with her family, but they take her and her children into their hearts and lives. Even the angry, embittered young son. Wade takes them under his wing. With understanding and help from Madison's family, he helps them take the steps to new life. The Arcadia Valley stories have been a blessing.

Lavender Romance

This us a book full of family love and the pain of divorce. Walking to restoration is never an easy process, and this book explores it well. Great characters, realistic situations and dialogue, and of course a happy ending.

I've enjoyed the books by Danica Favorite in the overall Arcadia Valley series. Her characters are believable, and deal with real life issues. She weaves in good Biblical counsel with a good story.
