Hope and Sunshine, as the title explains is a story of life, happiness, success, love and relationships. The story begins with Naina and it's written from her point of view mostly. Naina as a Punjabi, carefree and ambitious girl living in Kolkata and trying her best to succeed in her current job and while maintaining her long distance relationship with her boyfriend, Ved. Arjun, the overprotective and loving brother of Naina and a Bengali by heart and soul and Aditya, the new HR guy with the cute and charismatic smile and a sober serious attitude. All of them starts the journey of a happy and joyful life in the city of Kolkata and enjoying every moment of it.
As Naina soon finds it hard to manage her relationship with Ved and leans in to find comfort in Aditya's helping words and advices, something grows. Friendship with love and caring this journey of Naina's way towards finding her life's meaning is beautiful and full of hope of rays.

My Thoughts:
The Cover: The cover took all the points in this sweet romantic fiction book. Really liked the yellow combination that has seemed just fitting with the title and the story.
The Story: The story was simple and the one you've heard so many times, yet you can't help but want to one more time. And all this sweetness has a bright and beautiful side to it. Naina, Ved and Aditya's story was something like that. Sweet and full of joyous moments.
The Characters: The characters, as well, had some very interesting bases and took me by surprise as I really liked Arjun, Naina and Aditya's unique friendship. The trio definitely won my heart and had me laughing and smiling at their crazy and sweet moments. Arjun and Naina's sibling love and bickering were the one that made me remind of my annoying siblings and I loved the bond between them. Arjun and Aditya's Bromance was quite fun to see and I especially loved Aditya's character, he had a distinctive way of matured and fun side. I admired Aditya's friendship and how he helped Naina in every situation and trouble even if it was so painful for him to bear when Naina was so in love with Ved or as she thought she was.
Their relationship of friendship and love was truely beautiful as Naina called him her 'Hope' and Aditya calls her as 'Sunshine',

"I am your Sunshine & you are my hope."

Naina's sweet and carefree and ambitious as well as wild streak was admirable. Arjun's big brother protectiveness was also very fun to read and swoon over. I liked all the other characters, including Naina, Arjun and Aditya's parents and there was that Bengali and Indian mixture of family time that I enjoyed a lot. And lastly about Ved, his character was disappointing as it was his job to be because he was obviously Naina's boyfriend and her love. His and Naina's relationship had ups and downs as most long distance relationships, but still they had some chances to survive at least. And I've no other reason to hate Ved except his inability or rather unwilling nature to stand up for Naina at the end.
The Narration: Even if I enjoyed this book very much I couldn't help but find some faults in the narrative part. The story was written well and in a simple way to understand yet there were some instances where the lines and actions were repeated which also continued for some time in the book. And the writing didn't impress me much either. However, I loved the ending and how the author finally finished the story without much effect that went flawlessly.

Ratings:
Apart from everything I really enjoyed reading this book and loved the positive attitude and joyous vibes the story succeed to put out. And I'm happy giving it 3 🔆 shining stars for it and some more love because this book is definitely well deserving.

[ Thanks so much to the author for providing me with the book in exchange of an honest review ]

I received this book as a part of the review program in Outset.

He was my hope and I was his sunshine. - Debasmita Nath Ghosh, Hope and Sunshine>

Hope and Sunshine by Debasmita Nath Ghosh is a novel from the romantic genre. Not a major fan of romance, I had no idea what to expect but I was ready to give this one a chance because I really liked the blurb. And well, it was a nice chance. I won't say that I particularly LOOOOOOVED the book, but it wasn't a bad read either.

The book revolves around three main characters—Naina, Aditya and Arjun. Or well, since Arjun was more of a side one, I'd rather say, Naina, Aditya and Ved. Ved, Naina's long distance boyfriend who couldn't even take a stand for her when his family said no to their union. Ved, who made Naina feel trapped, more upset than happy. Ved, who well, who thought he was giving his all to her by asking her how she was but not really giving his all by not asking her why she was upset.

Things changed soon when she befriended Aditya—the man who made her remember what falling in love really means. The man who brought hope in her otherwise hopeless love-life. And for Aditya, Naina was the one who brought beautiful sunshine in his otherwise darkened life. They were probably the made-for-each-other kind of couples. But well, that's for you to decide.

Here are a few of my opinions on the book as a whole:

-Let's start with the cover of the book which is a beautiful one. The contrasting colors attract me to it in a glimpse.

-I liked how realistic the characters were. All the things that happened, well, everything was realistic. Thus, in simpler words, this book had something that the other debut authors lack in their books. The realism. Often their characters revolve around a plot-line that is far from realistic. This, perhaps, was one of the best things about this book.

-I also loved the pace of the novel. Since I've already compared this book to the usual debut Indian authors, I guess I can do it once more. While many romantic novels that things either too fast or too slow, this one had a nice pace about it. Like I said, the things could actually be happening.

-There was a certain depth to the characters that many books nowadays do not possess. I liked that they made me feel like they mattered.

-However, more often than not, I found the writing to be a little broken. It wasn't as smooth as I would hope for a novel to have. Many-a-times, my flow in reading was broken, thanks to this particular issue and I wanted to give up reading the book altogether. I only persisted because of the other reasons that I liked.

-I also felt that even though the things that happened were a little realistic, and the incidents might actually happen to someone in real life, I found their situation a little cliched. I mean, their dialogues and everything seemed a lot stupid sometimes, compared to how they were in story.

And well, that's it. That's what I think about this book. Do let me know of your views in the comments, or if you agree or disagree with mine as well. :)

Review

Long distance relation ships can be tricky. It might or might not work. Especially in modern times.

Naina is in love with Ved. They live apart in Kolkata and Patna. They met during MBA and fell in love. Ved mother has tumor and he is always busy in taking care of her. He could not bring himself to tell his family about Naina. Meanwhile she is busy in making her career. She cracks a big deal and is ecstatic. Her brother Arjun supports her all the time. She is attracted to her colleague Aditya. Aditya is a sorted person who happens to be very handsome too. This doesn’t help the matters at all. But at the same time, she thinks of Ved.

Adi calls her sunshine. And she regards Adi her hope. Hence the name of the book. The book uses hinglish and colloquial lingo. The pacing is good and one can easily go with the flow. There is no suspense as such where the story is going. It becomes repetitive after initial chapters and there is no plot building after that. The same scene repeats one after other. Ved is a coward who happens to be very insecure too. So, there was no surprise for me when she dumped him. Though she tried to soften the blow by saying things about how he made her grow etc. Let me reproduce the passage

“But I truly thank you for coming in my life and help me grow up. You were a beautiful chapter and I cant thank you enough for just being what you are. You are a great human being. I have always admired the way you cared for your parents but this chapter has to end here.”

I find the heroine very confused and emotional. However Aditya is very mature and emotionally stable. 3.5/ 5 stars.

Covers are always deceptive. Whoever said that we should never judge a book by it's cover was fairly right. The vibrant cover tempted me soo much and I was absolutely left disappointed.

The story loosely revolves around the lives of Naina , Arjun , Aditya and Ved. Naina , a passionate woman works in a company based in Kolkata. Careen oriented and compassionate Naina lives away from her family and loves her near ones dearly. She immensely loves Ved , who lives in Patna and the two have been dating each other since the past two years. On one hand , Naina is quite open about her relationship with Ved but on the other hand Ved is not always supportive. He is skeptical about confessing his love for Naina in front of his parents which creates disturbances in their relationship. Arjun is Naina's cousin and the one most close to her. Aditya , Naina's office mate and Arjun's friend soon turns out to be Naina's hope. How? You need to find out..

Honestly, visually the book seemed rather attractive but just few pages in and I knew I would end up disliking the book. The plot seemed good unlike the cliche romance novels but a story can't go ahead without proper narration and that's the first issue we face. The narration is lousy and kiddish. The chapters just go on and on and there is absolutely no emotion in them. Not even at a single place did I feel a connect between the characters and it was as if I am reading a draft of a novel.

The characterization is okay , nothing to fancy. The basic characters are fine enough but with no proper descriptions and plain dialogues , they didn't live up to my interest. The writing style again is quite kiddish and with the repetitive "awww" , the whole impact of the dialogues went waste.

Only if the novel was properly executed this could have been my favorite romance novel.
Not Recommended.

The story deals with the hardships faced in a long distance relationship, add in the different castes and it's double the trouble.

Naina is growing uncertain of her relationship with Ved, it may be because of the long distance or the way he postpones telling his family about her.

Aditya is new in her office and there's this instant bond between them and turns out he is buddies with her cousin Arjun, which means they hang out together a lot.

And all that time spent together brings them closer, he is her hope and she is his sunshine, together they make life easy for each other but is this mere friendship or something else??

The book takes us through some of the toughest decisions of Naina's life.

It's an easy read, the language used is simple and I finished it in one sitting.

The book is some what predictable and there are a couple things that I didn't like
- Three character names starting from same letter made it a bit confusing in the beginning.
- Some important events were left unexplained and then suddenly they are mentioned in the end.
- Sometimes it got kind of preachy, instead of saying something, it always has more impact if it is done.

I have a book today which I am going to talk about.

"Hope and Sunshine. "⠀
Author - Debasmita Nath Ghosh ⠀
Pages - 170⠀
Price - 199/-⠀

Let me start with the cover , It is amazingly bright and colourful ! ⠀
It is a eye candy! Check more pictures on blog linked in bio.
💛Qotd - Have you read this book ?

It is a book of romance genre and revolves around the life of a young working lady from named Naina. She has a Boyfriend and they are in a long distance relationship. The story start with a new boy , very handsome yet charming, intelligent get very caring entering her office as a new employee. There are few more characters like the protagonist's cousin and Boss. Will Naina's life take a turn ? Is her boyfriend good enough to keep her interested or the new boy will swipe her feet away ? ⠀

There are few turns in the story that are interesting. But overall the story is not as such unique in my view.⠀

My thoughts are the narration is fine as it is a debut novel of the author.⠀
The story is rather a very simple one that has a nice ending though. If you are looking to start reading with a simple book it is one that has lucid language and a young adult romance genre book with various chapters and interesting titles so you can finish it faster. ⠀
.⠀
I thought the story could have been made shorter as per the story line because at some places I felt it was just dragging a bit, there I lacked interest.⠀
I didnot like protagonist 'Naina' as such because I thought that her character needed a bit better explaination,so I couldnot connect with her. Also there are twists and turns the author included were actually good, but due to lack of enough development, they failed to create the vibes of severerity which would have been great if given mire attention. But the letters later in the story were nice, sweet and will be liked by teenagers!⠀

As it is a debut novel,I would like to encourage Mrs.Debasmita (@debasmita_nath ) to go on with her passion.Definitely would like to read more of her works.Best of luck,Thank you for the copy! ⠀

We all need that someone, who is our hope and sunshine in the most difficult times.

Naina is the main protagonist in this story with Aditya, Arjun and Ved. Naina is working in a corporate office where Aditya is the new one in the HR department and coincidentally he is a close frd of Arjun who is Naina’s cousin. She is in a long distance relationship with Ved.

Naina starts getting to close to Aditya when the trio (Naina, Aditya, Arjun) starts spending most of the time together. But she can’t go close to him because of her long distance relationship with Ved. When the trio is together the fun, the bond is depicted is so beautiful. The bond between Naina and Ved starts to fade because of the long distance that they have.

The story moves on smoothly and you are completely engrossed in it before you know. This is not a romance story which you wont enjoy. The characters are amazing with amazing plot. It shows a side of long distance relationship which can be true in most of the cases. You won’t be able to part ways with this book till you finish it.

To be honest now I have this major crush on Aditya. Will Naina and Aditya reveal their love for each other? What happens between her and Ved? Will Arjun have any role in bringing them close?

A beautiful love story that I have read in the recent days. Author has penned it real well in a great style. I liked the language used for writing this story which was literally flawless and appealing. It portrayed the life of the protagonist Naina Grover who was stuck between two people - Ved and Aditya.

While Ved and Naina were seeing each other, distance between them proved to be an hindrance. On the other hand, Aditya who was her colleague and also came from an affluent family always tried his best to keep Naina happy.

There were other troubles like caste, status etc., Naina was trying her best on one hand to keep the relationship afloat and Ved has been facing a major issue - ailing mother.

Would they able to unite?

Read this simple yet gripping story which would keep you hooked until the end.

My rating: 2.5/5

Hope and Sunshine is a romantic novel revolving around Naina, who is in a long-distance relationship with Ved, who is dealing with his sick mother and reluctant to break the news of his relationship to his family because of the caste differences and fears it won't be accepted by them.

Naina is introduced to Aditya, the new Zonal HR Manager, and she finds herself attracted him the minute she looks at him but shrugs off her feelings thinking of Ved. Turns out, he is Arjun's best friend. Arjun is Naina's cousin and they are very close. Soon these three become the closest of friends.

What follows is a tale of struggle for Naina and Ved, Aditya falling for Naina, and the characters fighting their past.

What I liked about the book:
- The reference to the title comes out well through the story
- The plot is good for a romance novel
- Unlike many other novels of this genre, the female lead has a lot of character and strength
- Many emotions are weaved together nicely in the story (love, longing, addiction, sacrifice, friendship, struggle, and redemption)
- More than a few characters, all gel well in the narrative, never confusing
- A short and fun read

What I disliked about the book:
- It's quite predictable
- Although the plot is good, the narrative could've been better
- It felt like I was reading a draft. The text needs another edit and proof-read
- Few parts were stretched and seemed unnecessary, could've been written in lesser words
- I always feel in such stories, the use of the first name in every other sentence is redundant and makes reading tiresome.
- It ended up being another cliched romance novel.

I did like the plot but somehow the execution could have been much better. It could have easily been one of my favorites.

Romance lovers will like the feel of the book.

Review : The story revolves around Naina Grover who is a Punjabi living in Kolkata because of her work. She has picture perfect romance with her boyfriend Ved. She is a well-established carrier woman and very perfect in almost every sense. The plot develops and new characters are introduced who make the story more interesting. The character of her cousin, Arjun and his best friend Aditya are gems. I liked the outcome Naina chose with Ved. I admire her decision to join a cause leaving behind a life of comfort.
The story is simple and modern. There are no unnecessary plot twists or complications, but according to me, the maneuvering of the whole story should have been better. The author has a long way to go because in a few places I had that “first draft” feeling. Its a good book for light reading.

Debasmita Nath Ghosh's debut novel, Hope and Sunshine, fits the genre of a typical romance novel. It tells the story of a Punjabi girl, Naina Grover, who is from Delhi but is working in Kolkata. She is in a long distance relationship with Ved. However, Naina couldn't be in the relationship wholeheartedly. Although their interests and tastes were similar, something was amiss in their relationship. Also, Ved did not want to inform his parents about their relationship as he feared it won't be accepted by them.

Things change for Naina when a handsome Bengali boy, Aditya, joins her office. She is attracted to him but tries to brush off her feelings as she is already in a relationship with Ved. Later in the story, Naina comes to know that Aditya is her cousin Arjun's best friend. The three of them bonded really well and often hung out together. Their hangouts at different restaurants and places was the fun part of the story. One can get the Kolkata-vibes while reading about their parties and getaways. I absolutely loved reading about their hangouts.
To know how Naina's story takes shape in the near future, you have to read the book!

I liked the way the story concluded, and the flow in which the book proceeds was good too. But there were certain aspects in the book that disappointed me. The plot was not very well knit. There are portions which seem skipped. Another thing that the book lacked was a good editing. Editing could have made the book far better. Also, the plot was quite predictable. There wasn't anything new for the book to offer to the readers.

Fans of romance novels might like this book.

Hope and Sunshine is the story of Naina Grover, a Punjabi girl from Delhi working in Kolkata. The story begins as Aditya Mukherjee joins Naina's office as the Zonal HR manager. Something between the two of them clicks instantly but Naina is already in a relationship with Ved Sharma, a long-distance relationship. Co-incidentally, Aditya turns out to be a friend of Naina's cousin Arjun. The three of them start hanging out and spending time together which eventually brings Naina and Aditya closer. Meanwhile, Ved's mother is diagnosed with serious illness and Ved faces problems to convince his mother and family to accept Naina because they belong to different castes. As Ved gets busy in taking care of his mother, more distance creeps in between him and Naina.

Here's what I have to say about the book:
The Positives:
- Even though the story is rather cliche, it is a fun and light read.
- I liked Naina's character. She is a strong, independent girl living in a city away from her family. She values her work and is dedicated to it. She is bubbly and easy-going and loves her family as well.
- The bond between the trio of Arjun-Naina-Aditya was admirable. While Arjun and Aditya were already friends, I liked how the bond strengthened between them in presence of Naina and how friendship grew between Naina and Aditya slowly but steadily. Besides, Arjun's brotherly protectiveness for Naina put smile on my face.
- The description of the families and the love they shared warmed my heart. I especially loved the character of Naina's maasi (aunt).
- And lastly, Aditya Mukherjee. It's hard to believe in the existence of such a near- perfect human being, yet, it's equally hard not to like his character. His clam and composed ways, his subtle helpfulness and positive vibes make the book a lot more enjoyable than it would be otherwise.

The Negatives:
- Although the narrative is simple, it can hardly be qualified as good quality-wise. There are quite a few mistakes, both grammatical and spelling-wise. A much better and thorough editing was certainly needed. Besides, there are several parts where there is sudden turn of events between two lines without any hint or separation whatsoever. It gets a little confusing and haphazard at times.
- I feel Ved's character could have been portrayed in a better light. All through the book, he was hardly given any chance to prove himself. Aditya, on the other hand, has been depicted as almost flawless. This is rather hard to digest.
- The conversations between Ved and Naina irked me so much! Is it really NECESSARY to address each other as as 'baby' in every (literally) sentence you utter? Ugh! Moreover, there was hardly any substance in their conversations, it seemed forced.

Overall, it was a quick and light read. The positive vibes can cheer you up easily and make you smile. I'd like to thank the author for providing me with a copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.

Blurb:
Naina Grover has an imperfectly perfect life, or is it perfectly imperfect? A punjabi kudi from Delhi working in the city of joy, Kolkata. She is joined by her crazy cousin, Arjun and his sober friend Aditya to come of age while at a long distance relationship which seems to be going nowhere. She knows it is a recipe for disaster but should she let go or not. Should she hope for the best? Hope she will be accepted? Hope she can settle down? Just Hope. Naina welcomes you to look at life from her perspective. 'Hop'e On!'.

My thoughts:

Hope & Sunshine as the title of the book perfectly describes, is the story of Naina & Aditya with a tinge of Ved and Arjun and a few more relationships involved. Firstly, I've always had this special thing for the name 'Naina' (Naina from KHNH, Naina from YJHD..) I always imagine Naina as a girl with specs & I did the same for Naina in this story too!

The characters in the story were described well. I loved the way how different relationships were highlighted, and how beautifully! Relationship between cousins, between friends, between an aunt & niece and also stuffs that happen to people in long distance relationships!

The language used is simple and easy to understand. However, there were a few mistakes here & there but that's printer-publisher error!

The way story takes turns and ends in a happy way (always a fan of happy endings), is what I loved about the book. The cover of the book is bright and colorful which syncs with the Title. You can finish reading the book in a day or two.

All of us deserve Hope & Sunshine in our lives.

I give this one a 3.5⭐ Rating.

Charming and courageous Naina is working in a big firm holding a highly responsible position. When she has pursued her MBA she has met Ved and they have fallen in love .After they have completed their studies Naina joins a big firm in Kolkatta and Ved Is working at Mumbai.

Even though they are living apart they contact over phone and always in touch with each other.
Ved’s mother has got brain tumour which is life threatening and he becomes busy with his mother's treatment.

Adtya, a handsome guy joins the firm where Naina is working.as Zonal HR Manager. He is a bright chap and so much of pain hidden below the surface

Arvind is Naina’s Cousin brother. Since both Arvind and Aditya have studied at MDI Gurgaon they are buddies.

Naina staying all alone in Kolkatta uses to frequent Arvind’s house . His mom Massi is close to Naina. She is taking some crucial decisions that proves she is blessed with wisdom which makes the rest of the story.

The tenuous and fluffy plot revolves around the above MCs . As the blurb discuses about the hopes amidst of distance relationship and a family secret which haunts her a lot .

The language is good and the narrative prose makes you to turn the pages automatically

When reading the book it seems we are seeing Hindi serial .

The pace is steady enough to make the reading a benign experience characters are realistic and very minimum.

What feel is that the events are very much predictable and there is no twists or turns to hook the readers. Strong sub plots could be added to strengthen the main plot . The dialogues are formal.

Also I like the character of Naina Grover as she resembles the woman belongs to the present

generation who want to achieve amidst of all the odds.

I like the following line which talks of generation gap as quoted in the book.

Every generation is better and yet worse than the previous one.

The authoress has crafted a beautiful love story in a clean and neat way. It is a light read whoever admires the social drama of love, and relationship.

The book targets the urban women living in the cosmopolitan atmosphere especially working professional . It is a great entertainment to them .

Hope and Sunshine is the story of Naina and Aditya. I liked the title and the cover of the book. It’s Interesting. The plot of the story is engaging and full of twists. The book started in a simple way but then as the story proceeded it was getting interesting. The narration of the story is crisp but at some places its dragged. The pace of the story is a little slow, The flow of the story is smooth and easy. The language used by the author is Lucid. The writing style of the author is simple and clear. One can easily connect with the book. I loved how the author described each emotion in a wonderful way. There are themes like Friendship, relationship, Love, betrayal, suspense witnessed in the story. The characters that the author made are strong, connecting and amazing. each character had its own personality. I loved Arjun’s, Aditya’s and Naina’s character the most. Also Arvind’s character. The brother-sister bond of Arjun and Naina was amazing, I loved their bond. The story started in a simple way, but as it proceeded, It is super Interesting. I loved how the story ended. It has many twists with lots of emotions. The plot is set in Kolkata and I loved how the author described the beauty of Kolkata.

It’s a simple, easy and quick read with strong characters.

"He was my hope and I was his Sunshine"

- Debasmita Nath Ghosh, Hope and Sunshine

I am a fan of romantic books and I loved this one. I loved the way the author has presented a realistic story from this book. 💙
First of all let us take a minute to admire the gorgeous cover😍 I loved the colour contrasts and all those bright colours on it. 💙

A beautiful story of life, happiness, success and relationships. The story revolves around Naina, a Punjabi girl from Delhi working in Kolkata.

While excelling at her job, she is trying to maintain her long distance relationship with Ved.

During this point she meets Aditya, who joins as HR in her office and turns out to be her cousins friend. I loved the character of Aditya. He is full of positivity and is practical as the same time. He loves Naina silently and all the way supports her.

I loved the end. I love happy endings💙💙 I won't give away more about the plot of the story. You need to read it yourself to know how Naina bad Aditya find their ways back to each other.

The story revolves around Naina, Aditya the new HR manager at her workplace, Arjun the cousin, Ved the long distance lover of Naina.

*Highlights:

👍The dilemma of being in a long distance relationship is well etched out. The doubts that creep up from time to time, the too many doubts to be cleared up. Well, we all know the drill

👍The overprotective cousin is the sweetest character that I can totally relate to!
No matter what he is 'The person to go to' who makes fun of Naina at every possible opportunity yet who is always there for her (which every girl needs in her life!)

👍The love scenario is shown not in a lustful way which many books take lust as romance in the first place

👍The caste system and such considerations as reasons for incompatible marriages have been pointed out (which sadly still happens today)
But the one thing I cannot grasp is the fact that how Arjun the overprotective cousin, and her love interest Aditya let her go to an unknown far off state all by herself and that too on her first train travel betraying even the trust of her 'friendly' maasi, her mother's sister with whom she shares everything with.
Well, it was such a heartwarming read.

✔️Recommended as a weekend romance one time read👍

While Hope and Sunshine proved be a quick and mindless summer read, enjoyable and of the chick-lit vein, the overall output was average. The plot was nicely prepared however, its elaboration needed a bit more effort. Not to say that it isn’t a good book- Hope and Sunshine made for a good enough debut. The characters, were also very realistic in the fact that their emotions were nicely structured. However, I found Naina definitely as a very flawed person, without being too literal of course. I also liked the themes that the author has brought in to this book, which mostly are friendship, the work culture, family and of course, love. I think they were explored fantastically. However, there are certain portions where I felt that the storyline dragged and that really slowed me down a bit. Moreover, the grammar and the editing needs to be worked upon- the language used is very much colloquial, i.e., too informal for a book and I would have appreciated a much more streamlined approach.

I rate this book a 3/5 stars. It wasn’t bad but it wasn’t particularly captivating either and although I did moderately enjoyed it, I do not think I shall be picking it up anytime soon.

Hope and Sunshine❤️
It is a story of two people and how love finds their way.❤️
Firstly, I would like to thank Debasmita Nath Ghosh for sending me the review copy.❤️

Plot: This book revolves around the life of naina Grover who is doing wonders in her professional life but lags behind in her personal life.
Her family is very much supportive towards her and her cousin is always with her helping her in any way possible and making every moment enjoyable.
She meets Aaditya and her life takes a sharp turn things finally start falling into the right place.
When we move further in the story, we see how she moves on in her life by breaking up with her then boyfriend and she also starts her life afresh.
Ending is really nice Aaditya and Naina finally confess their love for each other and lead their lives happily.

My review: The author's way of writing was good with some grammatical errors which can be rectified in future.
Simple english was used so that everyone can understand it easily.
Being a Bengali, he has not missed any chance to let her readers know about the culture, togetherness, food and everything about Kolkata.

I would like to give this novel a 5 Star out of 5.

Be hope for someone you love and they will be your Sunshine forever.

Until next time.

“Thank you sunshine, I am feeling better.” he said.
I loved every time he called me sunshine.
I just smiled at him and said, ” Hope you are feeling better now.”

– Hope and Sunshine

My views
First things first

It is said,”Do not judge a book by its cover. My mind,” Forget what is said when the cover is so gorgeous.” and yes, that is what happened with is. The cover was all bright and vibrant colors, it gave me high hopes but were the hopes met in the end? I can’t tell.

.

The title was very apt for the book as the book ends with Hope entwining with Sunshine, just the way where there is hope, there is sunshine and where there is sunshine, there is hope. A happy ending.

.

To me the characters were pretty relatable. I was able to connect a lot with Naina, from the entry of Aditya- the zonal HR manager in her life to her fumbling long distance relationship and her trying every bit to struggle for her love and yet being uncertain about it with finding her hope in Aditya. With every situation she was in, I asked myself, isn’t it the thing I would have done?

.

It mainly revolved around the theme of friendship, love and relationships. It made you feel what actually love is , something selfless which asks for nothing in return.

.

Author made a beautiful use of imagery, she certainly portrayed the beauty of Kolkata. I could feel my mouth water at the names of the dishes and eyes twinkle at the beautiful attractions of Kolkata.

.

The second half of the book stirred a lot of emotions. Though many incidents which came out of the blue didn’t connect well with the story. Wherein, the first half seemed pretty dragged. It was hard for me to keep reading . It would have been a beautiful story in fewer words. The use of baby in almost every sentence in the conversations between Ved and Naina made me cringe a bit and so did the use of the name of the person being mentioned in every other line.

.

A heart-warming ending. Though predictable it will make you feel the same warmth you feel when you look at its vibrant, catchy cover.

.
My ratings: ❤❤❤/5

.
RECOMMENDATIONS

If you love romance genre, you can have a pick.

.

Happy reading!

.

P.S. – The review is honest and unbiased.

Naina works in an IT company in Kolkata and Aditya is the new Zonal HR Manager there. Naina is in a long distance relationship with Ved, who's her college sweetheart, since two years. Ved's family is conservative and his mother has been detected with brain tumor. Naina has a cousin named Arjun who's Aditya's old friend as well. Once Aditya and Arjun meet in Kolkata, they rekindle their friendship and soon the trio of Naina, Aditya and Arjun become very tight. Their bonding mainly occurs through their meetups for lunch, dinner, coffee and partying. They have a common love for food. Also, Naina is very close to her Maasi who is Arjun's mother. On the other hand, Ved is busy with his mother and her health and the distance between him and Naina becomes remarkable but still they act like it's all good. Also, Naina pressurises Ved to tell his family about them but he fails at it multiple times due to incorrect timing and lack of courage. He keeps prolonging it and that hurts Naina. Whenever she is upset with Ved, Aditya always helps her out. He solves their problems and tries giving Naina the correct perspective. Aditya calls her, Sunshine. She calls Aditya hope. Also, she is achieving greats heights at her work. Later she goes and meets her parents in Delhi and faces a part of her past there. Ved convinces her to come to Patna to talk to his parents about their relationship. She goes and everybody likes her but her mother doens't accept their relationship. She leaves a letter at the hotel for Ved and comes back to Kolkata. In Kolkata, she meets Aditya's parents in a party. She confides in Aditya about her past and he confides in her about his troubles. Naina helps him and his family beautifully. Later on she decides to quit her job and to work at her mother's NGO because the NGO works on a cause that's very close to her heart. The guys turn very sad on hearing this. It's shown that she's happy but misses Kolkata and its people while working in Delhi.
Some months later, Ved confronts Aditya and they realise that Naina and Aditya love each other and the way they finally unite is very filmy but sweet.

Review : Despite of the fact that storyline is very common, the story being set in Kolkata makes it's a little different. I like the fact that the author has actually started the book from page 1. It kept me interested. She hasn't dragged the story. The way she has begun is just perfect. The narration style is simple and easy to understand. The plot build up seemed quite good. The character of Arjun seemed a little incomplete to me but that of Naina and Aditya we're done quite well. The cover of the book is beautiful and the fact that the title had a meaning and a reason behind it got my heart. The author has explained the title in the story. The cover of the book is very bright and colourful. Reading the last few chapters, I was sure that Naina and Aditya wouldn't unite but in the very end they do. The story changes its course at the very last. It's sure to keep the reader on their toes.
I felt that a little background information about the characters could have been put.
There were some scenes which seemed a little far fetched. Also, there were a few grammatical errors which could've been easily corrected.
Overall, I liked the book and was able to finish it in a sitting. If you like reading Indian authors, you can go for this.

Hope And Sunshine is the story of Naina grover who is a rising star in her professional life but is struggling in her personal life. While Arjun, her cousin, is always there as her support, she confused between letting and holding on tight to the other two men, Aditya and Ved. She struggles to decide her priorities and what makes her happy but hope gets her going through the whole process and the book leads you to her final decision.
The title completely goes with the book.
The language is simple and the expression of emotions is done very well but yes, I would surely suggest a revision for editing errors.
It has a beautiful cover and likewise, it shows the beaautiful side of love in a very beautiful way.The characters are very sensible and realistic.
Two negative things about the book were
1. I felt like I was reading the script of the book more than a proper book. It was more like text conversations.
2. There is no extraordinary storyline despite the beautiful emotions. It gets a little cliche.
You can go ahead with this book if you are looking for something really light and no extravagant content.

Cover is beautiful. It has been designed well.
Title is catchy & phrases well with the content.
The book is about romance & talks about friendship, love, family, etc.
Writing style is simple & easy to read & understand.
Narration is okay.
The book is a cute read for romantic readers. Considering me, I'm not so big fan of love story novels. However, there're some good books pertaining to this genre.
And I can certainly vouch for this book which turned out to be disappointing. The sheer monotonous approach towards the writing & also the quirky ending presented didn't fit well with the plot.
A onetime read.

I liked this book. The title of the book matches perfectly with plot of the book. The cover is fine and bright.
I loved the characters of the book. Aditya! God! I'm in awe of that guy. Arjun(Naina's cousin) is one in a million himself and the protagonist, Naina is a sweetheart indeed. The bond between Naina and her cousin Arjun reminds me of the special bond that I share with my cousin. It felt beautiful. Those three monkeys were just inseparable. I liked the fact that their friendship became strong with time. Characterisation is done beautifully. The story was quite predictable but few things left me shocked as Naina decides to join her mother's NGO was really heart touching. What I didn't like was the annoying telephonic conversation between Ved and Naina with the persistent use of word "baby". 😂😂😂
Also, towards the end of the book things got a little mixed up. I wish if separate chapters were given to Aditya's story then things could have been really well. Editing could have been done properly. Overall it's a nice book. I liked the concept of "hope and sunshine" very much. It was beautiful. I would rate it

"The Same old Gooey and Romantic storyline."

As a reader I feel that the beginning of a story should have some edge because that's what creates a first impression of the story. However, the beginning of this book is so boring that it doesn't create any impact whatsoever and after first 20 pages itself I was so disappointed that I didn't wish to continue it further. But eventually I did and further found some basic grammatical mistakes as well, which is again a Turn Off.

There were a couple or more instances in the book where Aditya and Arjun who are friends with our main character Naina dropped some kind of mystery statements, which made me think that this story may proceed to an unpredictable path. But the story ended and those mystery statements remained just as meaningless as they were when they were being said.
So, my views about the story remained unchanged that it was a cliché, gooey and exaggerated romantic story.

Writing style was simple. Character representation felt unreal and did I mention the Grammatical mistakes...? Oh Yes I did.

Final Rating: 1.5/5.

“I got the book as a part of the review program in Outset"

“Goodbyes are for those who love with their eyes because for those who love with heart and soul…there is no separation.”

When the vivacious Naina Grover struggles to balance her long-term relationship with boyfriend, Ved, enter Aditya, flaunting his suaveness and steely greys. How will she handle the pressure of the two men in her life in the city of joy?

Get your hands on Debasmitha’s debut novel – Hope and Sunshine to read more about the crazy life adventures of this dreamy girl.

My Take:

Book Cover:

The author has chosen a simple and chic cover to banner her story and although it might not be very impressive, it is certainly colour coordinated.

Characters:

Naina, Aditya and Ved are the golden trio around whom the story basically revolves. Arjun is the added bonus of a bonehead brother who brings the looney beans of being surrounded by family. Easily, he is that one cousin/best-friend who begs to be strangled and cuddled at the same time.

Naina is pitched as the gorgeous, kohl-eyed and unmatched beauty but we fail to see the description of the character rising to the surface. She could just be any hottie in my head, tall or short, no stress. I don’t know if I find that comforting by novel standards. Contrastingly, Aditya has the irresistible trademark ‘steely greys with a tinge of green’ and a side of the infamous ‘dark past’ which makes the protagonist go weak in the knees. The bland words like hot and handsome don’t do justice to our guy as my imagination begs for more detail to form a complete mental picture. Again, his character construction is so positive that the reader can’t help but root for him from day one which is a flaw and strength in itself because of the prominence of the instant hate for Ved. When these two are viewed from a comparative standpoint, cliched elements like the maturity level of Aditya and the proximity of the relationship between him and Naina play a key role in the development of the story. Ved, on the other hand, has nothing more than the nametag – “Boyfriend“.

Ved introduces a raw and insufferable feeling with his incessant addressing of ‘baby’ and successfully convincing the reader of his destitute nature. He takes little to no interest in what happens in Naina’s life and is hell-bent on shifting the spotlight of their relationship on himself. Through this disconcertingly cheap ritual, he easily becomes the taker and Naina, the giver.

Language and Writing Style:

Colloquialism may entertain the reader when it is rendered in a short dosage. It becomes a problem that cannot be overlooked when transformed into the prose itself. The story appeals to the reader with respect to the writing style as both are symbiotic. That was a major drawback for me as I wasn’t able to concentrate on the content of the book because of the aforementioned flaw. Also, the editing felt incomplete and kept diverting my attention from the story at hand.

Plot:

The simplicity of the overall plot invokes a sense of closeness with the characters as they are in sync with reality. Despite the clichés singing saliently throughout the book, I liked how the characters were relatable and frolicky. Although some loose-ends were hastily tied up in the end, the debut author manages to deliver a heartfelt tale of a girl filled with dreams and sunshine.

Final Note:

Looking for a light read while you travel or slacking at home during the weekend? This book is the perfect pick to just sit back and relax with a mug of cocoa.

So firstly this book touched my heart and it connected with me right from where it started. Naina is clearly shown to be in a relationship which she doesn't leave because of her insecurities which later gets revealed. If u ask me is this just another cheesy love story. Then No its not. Its a modern love story where Naina is seen fighting for her way to happiness. I found Nainas and Adityas Character well build and the chemistry well shown. But Arjuns character could have been more developed. I would love to know more about him and his dreams and life too because he is the important supporting character where Aditya and Naina leads. Another lovely aspect was the trios friendship and the bromance. The whole story was like a reality check and went in the right pace neider to fast nor lagging it. And coming to the last bit I felt could have been better is the editing. The language was simple but I found myself getting off track sometimes with it. So concluding the book is sweet and a lovely read with a interesting plot and realistic characters.

Recommendation:
If you love romance novels which are not cheesy and just say love love love all the time, you should definitely try this one out and also recommended for all the readers who love romance novels. But also if you have this not so good look towards romance Novels I ll still tell u to give it a try because this book contains hope that everyone of us need to cling on to.

Firstly, I convey my utmost gratitude to the author for giving me an opportunity to review her debut work of literature.

Hope and Sunshine stands as a good endeavour by the author into the genre of Romance. A light read for those who prefer love stories over other literary genres, Hope and Sunshine is indeed a nice book. I believe, personally, that the author has the potential to become a mature writer in the upcoming years.

There are three reasons why I liked reading Hope and Sunshine. Firstly, the plot, being based in Kolkata, has brought under the limelight those iconic venues and occasions which the City of Joy is proud to have. For instance, the shift of focus from the mainstream "Durga Puja" mania to an unconventional winter fiesta (Guess the festival AND the venue for brownie points!) did touch my heart. Secondly, the book permanently bears the mark of the 'Bengali/Indian love for food'. Yes, at one point, the book had temporarily turned into a source of unbearable gastronomic torture for me! No wonder why I liked the book even more! Thirdly, the book consisted of quite a few twists and turns that actually helped in supporting the plot base.

However, there were some shortcomings that couldn't be ignored at all. One; the narrative was weak. Considering the fact that the story is told from the First-Person narrative, the plot consisted of many circumstances and situations which are impossible to emerge from such a narration at all. This is the only reason why the plot sequence resembled more like that of a film. The sudden change in focus, specially in one instance, seemed as if the camera lens was abruptly shifted from one character to the another (no, the Stream-of-Consciousness technique is nowhere to be found her That was quite unacceptable, for that particular instance lacked rationality. Secondly, the narrative consisted of a lot of dialogues, and inadequate of indirect speeches and statements. Finally, the plot took about two-thirds of the book in order to make the reader realise where the story was headed. There were many unnecessary details and descriptions that could have only been implied in the narration.

Aside the technical faults, I still loved the book. This is because, the best part of the story arrived after about 110 pages, and it is those last few pages that will actually revive the reader's interest back into the story. Towards the climax, the reader will discover a glimpse of brilliance of the author in the art of storytelling. I only wished that the spark had arrived sooner in the story! Indeed, this feature helped the plot to survive, and stand up high and hopeful.

Not all writers have a beginner's luck, and I don't believe in luck at all. Rather, I believe in the fact that effort, perseverance, and dedication are all that is needed for an author to reach his or her full potential. A plot which is rather unique and not at all similar to the typical love novels, Hope and Sunshine should indeed be a respectable work by a debut author. I wish her all the best in her new career as a recognized writer.
