I just have to read every single thing Alice Oseman writes, it's just a fact. It was so nice to see some characters from two of Alice Oseman's books. Raine and Becky definitely have chemistry and I wish there could have been more than this short story. I would totally read a full novel about the two of them.
"I’m really unpopular, like, I don’t have any real friends. I mean, I have all these people who talk to me, but, like, no one who actually knows me that well. ”
"Like, you’ve got this big friendship group, and they all talk to you, but no one actually cares that much about you. Everything’s fine when you’re being funny and likeable and stuff, but… like, no one would give a shit if they saw me like this.”
“But, like, in reality, you don’t have any real friends.”
I feel SEEN, ATTACKED and OFFENDED, all at the same time because this is so freaking accurate. I think Alice Oseman walks around with a magnifying glass, peering through everyone's minds and calling them out. Those specific "moments". Becky and Raine are such a great duo.
3.5/5 - I’m so stoked Alice Oseman decided to give a novella about Raine and Becky! This was short and sweet and I really enjoyed it. Wish it had been longer though, I could read an entire book about them!
i love finding osemanverse’s extra novellas in the middle of the night when i can’t sleep! yeah i gave 5 stars but raine deserves the world, so 5 stars. plus it’s so sweet, we know a bit more about raine and becky and their lives after radio silence and solitaire, which we all need! i’m too sensible to not give all the stars to these two beautiful women and it’s pride month, what else do i need? anyway i love all of these characters that’s unbelievable!
I'd totally read a novella and/or novel all about these two, their dynamic is great and I ship them a lot. Alice Oseman is so, so good at writing couples.
as usual, just alice oseman being a criminal. it triggered me in so many ways, i was not ready. pls let me get back to reading about teenage boys who are in a famous boyband.
3.5 it was an alright kinda cute short story but i dont really remember much about becky, ngl hahaha. while raine i just read radio silence so she is more fresh in my mind. it did feel a bit rushed but i always find thats a problem with short stories that is always a bit rushed or leaves a lot to be desired. i liked the cameo of a certain character.
so cute!! i love how everything is connected in the osemanverse!
i do have a question that maybe i just missed… but aren’t Becky and Rita friends? wouldn’t Becky recognize Raine’s name?? does anyone have any thoughts on this?
How did I not know this existed?! Obviously it’s cute. Some parts were relatable. But it’s toooo short. I want more.
You probably only get this story if you read solitaire and radio silence.
Haha also laughing at this part
“Real friends are people who travel across the country to see each other and stop them eventually killing themselves because they’re having a mental breakdown and their mother is the epitome of evil. Yeah. Long story. Don’t worry about it.”
This little crossover story was fun to read. I enjoyed the dialogue and the themes throughout. There is so much about the older teen/young adult perspective that is absolutely fascinating and I appreciated how interwoven everything was. Still, I didn’t feel like the characters had that much chemistry and it was a bit trite in my view. Cute, but nothing outstanding.
short story, about becky from solitaire, only posted online. Was kinda not the best, due to short story + romance not being the best, however, liked the lore of it connecting to other characters, and it was written kinda good
Basically an Osemanverse fanfiction, but by no other than the one and only Alice Oseman! Felt like a Wattpad one-shot, but with correct grammar and actually cute depiction of wlw couples even in angsty situations, is this what Heaven feels like? 100% recommend, will probably read it again in a week because it’s so short and fluffy.
