Blair's life is starting to look up. Life is back to normal, she's found a clue about her family history, and her relationship with Nathan might finally be getting somewhere.
Naturally, that's when a dead body shows up in her boss's office.
With the paranormal hunters in town, one mistake might lead to catastrophe. And what's she to do when the person she suspects of committing the murder is already behind bars?
Can Blair get to the truth, or will she be the one to end up on trial?
Elle Adams lives in the middle of England, where she spends most of her time reading an ever-growing mountain of books, planning her next adventure, or writing. Elle's books are humorous mysteries with a paranormal twist and tons of magical mayhem.
She also writes urban and contemporary fantasy novels as Emma L. Adams.
This could have been a really fun mystery, but the plot was convoluted and the author threw too much information at the reader at once. Also, there were far too many references to previous books. Not for me.
Fabulous read. Great plot, really didn't see some of the twists and turns it took. Great characters and we're just beginning to see exactly what her powers might be. The next book should be exciting. Now that everything is back to normal, they want to get the paperwork sorted they find a dead body in the owners office. The gargoyles are as helpful as ever and just want to pin the death on someone / anyone. However when she starts looking into this it looks as if someone is trying to get the hunters to take over the town. To make things worse the head of the hunters comes down and tries to recruit her. Watch as she breaks into the jail, only to discover another body, how she tries to look into the life of the first victim and his ex-wife. What does his research have to do with anything? Betrayals, another dead body and being arrested are just the norm for her. How is she going to get out of this? How can she keep the head of the hunters at bay?
Blair and Nathan's relationship goes along fairly well. Unfortunately her job at the paranormal recruitment agency doesn't go so well. Their boss shows up, opens her door and there's a dead guy there.
There's a lot of political maneuvering going on in the backroom as her boss is arrested for the murder and jailed. Then there's a guy that is supposed to be dead (at least his body was found) but may actually not be dead after all. Maybe. There's a trial which is an excellent example of a kangaroo court, another dead person, and as well established in this series a group of gargoyle policemen who seem to have collectively the intelligence of a melon.
A very, very small melon.
Then there's also somebody taking an interest in her but the question is why?
A lot going on and the series keeps being really good.
Fairy Falls is going from issues to challenges to eminent catastrophe in the fifth entry to this series, and Blair is in the thick of things as usual! A murder (maybe), potential job loss, a youngster with unstable abilities to mentor, a ticked-off cat, another death (maybe), yet another murder, and a possible complete upheaval of the town's structure are more than enough to keep a fledgling fairy/witch busy. And that doesn't include Blair being targeted by a menace HER power can't even identify...but her absent parent is aware of! Elle Adams has managed to juggle several subplots within this tale without dropping any; this author continues to impress!
These are fast paced interesting to read sometimes the plots are easy to guess suitable for teenagers upwards I class them as an easy read as can read in a day, looking forward to reading the next one
In this book Blair uncovers more incompetent police work and sees the truth of the situation before others do with more crazy schemes to prove her bosses innocence and take over plans from past criminals with the help of her co-workers friends and of course her fairy cat Looking forward to the next book esp after the last letter from her father...
With the witches affected by Suzanne's powers returning to Fairy Falls everyone hopes things will return to normal.
Far from it though as Veronica opens her office door and a body falls out. Steve and the gargoyle police force are not interested in anything other than arresting Veronica and when Blair points out that she's telling the truth he threatens to take her in.
With the Hunters showing increased interest in taking over Fairy Falls it seems that Mrs Dailey might still be working on taking over behind the scenes. She's definitely got at least one ally; can Blair work out exactly what is going on to prevent the town from evil?
Blair’s boss is accused of murder, which means the office is closed for business. That puts Blair on the trail of discovering just who is actually responsible, and leads to her uncovering a sinister plot.
This book is not a standalone, simply because this story relies on the reader having read the previous books in the series… it’s no hardship though, since the books are entertaining and enjoyable cosy paranormal mysteries.
I really like anything this author writes and I know that each book is going to be enjoyable. Blair is finally growing into herself and you can tell she’s gaining confidence and is a darn good investigator. She gets some answers but definitely more questions about her past.
I can’t say it enough, this author and this series is one of my favorites! Fun cozy mysteries with a big mystery that is wrapped up at the end, a bit of romance, developing characters, and interesting plots. Definitely better to read in order, but you won’t be sorry if you pick them up!
She always means well, but Blair Wilkes is a bit of a busy body, who has yet learned to control her magic. Then again, if Blair weren’t a busy body, the crimes would never get solved. A thoroughly enjoyable who done it, with the delightful folks of Fairy Falls. The books build on each other, so be sure to read them in order.
Another fun book with mystery, secrets, and this time the dastardly Inspector Hare arrives. The further this series goes the more and more we learn about Blair and her powers. I’m looking forward to seeing how her relationship with Nathan goes.
I just enjoy these light hearted mysteries so much. They give me a break and give a bit of a chuckle uplifting my spirits! Great read, I have loved each book in this series!😊
I love fantasy and I love cozy mysteries so the combination is perfect for me. The characters in this series are pretty fun and there is an ongoing mystery around Blair’s family.
Some times you can't tell those closest to you what's going on. That happens in this book and Blair goes to jail. Can she find the truth before it's too late?
And entertaining supernatural cozy mystery series with a great cast of characters and an extraordinary storyline. Follow along as Blair Wilkes a half which have fairy and her friends solve mysteries and murders and crimes. Check it out
A murder or not, glamour spells. Lots of gargoyle encounters, letters from Blair's father. Invisibility spells and a unwelcome security attention for Blair and fairy falls.
Blair is confronted with a dead body in her boss ' s office . She and her friends solve the mystery of how murders were committed from behind jail bars.
Book 5 of Blair Wilkes Mystery is a very fun & intense read. There are many twists which keeps the reader guessing up until the end! Blair has several puzzles to solve all at once. Looking forward to Book 6
Good story but Blair seems to be a little all over the place and not sure how to investigate. Maybe its a symptom of just learning how to use your powers.
