Stunning and Captivating

Shallows is an absolutely captivating story. Rebel and Gunner are two strangers who meet in a life altering moment that sets their journey in motion. Every page was filled with suspense and want. Each character was very well written by Randi. Rebel is strong and yet vulnerable. Since the moment she met this beautiful stranger we would later come to know as Michael Gunner, her soul was entranced by him. She would need every ounce of faith in courage within her to dive into his world. Michael Gunner was a man who had a path in life set out for him by his family and he was completely loyal to his family until the day the universe put a beautiful stranger in front of him. His entire future was put into question. We get to see how love and loyalty fight for their place in these characters lives. I couldn't get enough of this book let alone the characters. You will fall into an abyss reading this. Stunning to say the least. I cannot wait for the next one! Love truly does conquer all.

I have waited years for this story. And as expected, Randi did not disappoint.

Shallow follows Gunner and Rebel after a chance meeting in Paris. It only takes one moment in time to change your life.

Rebel is seeking to advance her career. She uses an assignment to write about an exclusive vineyard as the opportunity to do so. She struggles with her feelings from her one night in Paris. If those are more than what she’s making them to be. Hoping for something that might not be there.

Gunner is in deep with his family business. He’s learned not to get too close to anyone out of fear of it being ripped away. In his line of work emotions are a liability. He had one perfect moment with a stranger. One he knew he had to walk away from.

Randi has always told beautiful stories and Shallow is no different. The way in which you get to know the characters and the imagery is beyond compare. I also think I may have fallen for my first blonde MMC. 😂 I can’t wait for the next books in this series.

I recently finished reading Shallow by Randi Cooley Wilson, and I am beyond impressed. The character building was on point, and I found myself loving the main character's story. Rebel and Gunner's relationship was so sweet, and their second chance meeting was everything I'd hoped for in a romance book.

Aside from the love story, Shallow is also a book about self-worth and allowing yourself to be loved and being worthy. Rebel, a successful food and wine freelance writer, finds herself with the assignment of a lifetime, interviewing reclusive winemaker Michael Gunner.

Michael is determined to make a new life for himself on his family's vineyard in New Zealand, while Rebel is just learning how to "adult" at the age of thirty-two. Despite their differences, they are drawn to each other in a way that neither can resist.

Overall, I highly recommend Shallow to anyone looking for a great romance read with amazing character development. Randi Cooley Wilson did an excellent job of creating a story that was not only captivating but also thought-provoking. Trust me, this book deserves five stars and more!

Thought I was in the mood for cheesy angst so I grabbed the audio version of this. It was too much. I switched to reading in case it was just the narrators' interpretation. Still too much. Speed-read more than 50% since there was a lot of repetitive angst on both sides and no connection between the two leads. Love-at-first-sight is rare. Authors who attempt to write this have a challenge: either show the reader why that initial connection was so strong, or make the reader fall in love with the couple so hard that they root for their HEA, regardless of quickly the couple fell in love. The book fell flat on both accounts.

...and she does it again!

Dark, fast-paced, intriguing, beautiful, and everything in between. A beautiful story one can tear through in a few hours if you put aside all responsibilities.

Light and dark intertwine in a beautiful game of emotions, creating an unwavering balance between 2 people whose souls know they belong to each other, but life's experiences just love to complicate things.

Highly recommend. Beautiful read w two strong people, in many different aspects, who fit beautifully together.

A love story like no other! Truly unique and wonderful. This book shows you the depths that a true love can withstand. Time, despair, whole hearted grief, and complete elation. Gunner and Rebel were the absolute perfect match. It took so much to get there. But truly couldn't of been better. Randi's heroines are strong willed and give as good as they get! I love a character that stands up for herself and the ones that she loves. Shallow had this in spades! Truly and completely loved this book and am so eager to listen to the audio when released!

Loved it 🥰

Such a good read, it started 12 year ago with a painting in Paris. It was an instant chemistry that connected them but it was enough to continue for 12 years. Then fate steps in and brings them together as a job assignment pushes her to do an article and they nice they see each other they sparks are still there. The angst is so good as he doesn’t want to let her know he remembers her, that he feels as he did 12 years ago. This is a darn good read.

This book was not at all what I was expecting. It had me wondering where the plot was going. I really liked the character development of Rebel and Gunner though. The slow burn was just right and I was shocked at the twists and turns! I’d recommend to anyone looking for an easy read that will leave you wondering what is on the next page.

The story is not that bad, but lots of typos, missing words, too many words.......and that severely disrupted my reading flow, couldn't connect with the characters.
