After reading through the reviews, I decided I needed to get a fair review out there. Would you go to a hair salon that specifically caters to women who have curly hair when you have stick straight hair that doesn't hold curl? (the answer is no, you would not) Then why would you pick up this book, with a girl who is famous for being famous and knows exactly how to dress to her tastes and style? While I believe that it would be cool for a Style book to come out where it crosses race, body types and so on, it's impossible. You would have to take into consideration not only specific races (not to mention us girls who are mixed), but you'd also have to include ALL body types (and not just the "normal" ones of hourglass, triangle and stick but ALL the combinations too) along with specific styles (jeans and a tee? Elegant? Heels all day, everyday? Tomboy? Boho? Alternative?) AND where you live. That's impossible. If you don't like Lauren Conrad and how she dresses, leave this book to those of us who do.
STYLE could be considered "common sense" but ladies... Look at pictures of you from when you were in 8th grade. TELL ME you had impeccable style. This, is the intended audience. Young Adults. I learned a lot from this book. Conrad includes the staples of what SHOULD be in every woman's closet (everything from a LBD to a well fitted heavy coat) and how to accessorize them to make them look like different outfits! She keeps everything to basics EVEN THOUGH the pictures show various things. Unfortunately, most people have the in ability to look at a picture of something (a dress, for example) and see what they like or do not like about it. No, you don't need a bright teal maxi dress with a flower print like Conrad wears on page 15 but you can see what kind of maxi dresses YOU like and look good in. The woman cannot buy and put together outfits for you. She is simply giving your mind the tools it needs to be able to put together a good, beautiful outfit that makes you feel good about yourself. Conrad also includes the best outfit to wear while on a plane (no, sweats are not the staple), different ways to wear your LBD, simple ways to style your hair and makeup and how to dress for your job interviews.
If you like the California style and want to learn the basics AND YOU HAVE AN IMAGINATION, you will like this book. You don't need to buy $700 dresses in order to be able to "get" this book, trust me. So the "spoiled rich girl" comments can take a hike.

Okay, if you want to read a book about Lauren Conrad (I'm still not entirely sure what she is famous for, but I know she did a reality TV show and I THINK designs clothing for Kohl's) I'm sure you could enjoy this book, at least a little. But problematically, it's marketed as style/fashion advice for everyone, and it is amazingly NOT for everyone. It's like she wrote a book of fashion advice for herself. She only recommends things that she looks good in and likes, such as skinny jeans and super high heels. She dresses for the red carpet and paparazzi, not trips to the supermarket or visiting the library. She proudly offers that in five years of her reality TV show, she never once repeated an outfit. She talks about shopping trips that last for days, and going to the store two hours before flying to Vegas for her birthday celebration and buying a ridiculously overpriced dress that she'd only wear once, but that made her feel fabulous that night and was thus worth the splurge. She makes practical suggestions, like purchasing a $70 leather jacket to give it a trial run before investing in an expensive one to see if you'll really like it and wear it (because she's so frugal). Unfortunately, 90% of her readers are going to consider the $70 jacket plenty expensive on it's own. And we do not spend 40 hours per week shopping and planning our wardrobe and hair. We also do not have multiple stylists employed to help us. Really, this book is pretty much worthless for advice for anyone other than celebrities (who have their own personal shoppers and stylists anyway), but mildly entertaining and made me feel better about myself, like I have balance in my life. I love clothes and shopping and like to dress well, but it takes an appropriate backseat to other things in my life, such as being a mother and reading stuff.
Have you ever found a dress that you liked, so you took it to the tailor and paid to have him painstakingly recreate the pattern and sew you another one in a different pattern and fabric so that you could wear it again another time, but not have to look like you were wearing the same thing you wore three months prior? If yes, then this book if you for you. If you've ever worn the same pair of shoes or jeans twice within a 7 day period, then this book is NOT for you.
There. I just saved you a bunch of time and money.

I love Lauren Conrad's style (and I thought that she had studied fashion???), so I was excited to read this book. Although there was some interesting and useful information, I was generally disappointed.
Although Conrad tries to hide the fact that she is a spoiled rich girl, it is very apparent anyway. I guess I was more annoyed by her attempts to appear normal (she claims to be so embarrassed about how much she spent on a dress, that she will not disclose how much it cost) than if she had just been up front about her fortunate background and expensive lifestyle. She also admitted that she had a team of people helping her clean out her closet including (if I remember correctly) FOUR stylists. If I am supposed to be listening to her advice on style, why does she need to hire FOUR stylists to help her with her clothes? They should be the ones writing a book!
The other thing that bothered me was that the advice in Conrad's book is suited to herself. For example, she says that she considers "kitten heels" to be the "mullet" of shoes and goes on (and on) about her love of super-high stilettos. Well, Conrad is relatively short, so I can understand her preference for high heels. However, kitten heels can be much more flattering than, say, a flip-flop and may be very well suited for someone who is tall and wants to wear a heel without towering over everyone. The hairstyles she suggests are all those worn by herself--her signature loose waves and her "goddess braid." Her styling tips, again, are suited to people with hair like hers. For example, she advises girls to towel dry vigorously... If curly-haired girls did that, they would end up with a frizzy mess! She also very strongly advocates for skinny jeans, which are really only flattering for certain body types, especially worn without boots. I could go on and on!
Like I said, there was some interesting information in the book. I like knowing that the most important lengths for necklaces are 12", 14" and 18". However, I had a hard time getting past the feeling that Conrad is spoiled, untutored in style (relying on her stylists), insincere, and stuck on herself.

I won this book on Goodreads 1st reads. I didn't give it 5 stars because I agree with what someone else said that alot of this is common sense. Although, it would be great for late teens, early twenty's type woman that are still maybe learning about makeup, hair, and fashion. Some of the clothes tips to me are geared toward this age group, or at least one's that are fit and trim. Even though I know alot of the makeup tips, there are a few things I've learned, and enjoyed looking through those parts. I love how to do a smoky eye. Also, liked the how to pack on vacation depending on how many days you go. I can refer back to this book to make sure I didn't forget to pack anything. Overall it's a beautifully illustrated book.

First off, I must admit that I have no clue who Lauren Conrad is. A brief glance at her Wikipedia page gives the impression she's used her famous-for-what? reality star status to amass a miniature empire of fashion lines and book deals. So what am I doing reading a book with her name and face emblazoned on its cover? I've become quite a fan of her recently launched Kohl's line and several pieces have already ended up in my closet. Why not give her fashion-focused book a chance?
True to its title, Lauren Conrad Style is about Lauren Conrad dressing Lauren Conrad. Or, to quote Conrad's dedication at the beginning of the book, "the wonderful team that spends countless hours to put [her] together" dressing Lauren Conrad. Although I could possibly see this appealing to the very young girl who's just getting interested in fashion, there's nothing here that a quick Google search for style advice won't yield. My favorite feature is when Conrad is shown wearing her little black dress in several specific styles, offering examples of how to get five separate looks from one single item. The book would have been so much better had it continued with this line of thinking. Instead, we get basic key pieces that are indeed basic (the aforementioned LBD, t-shirts, jeans) and tips that range from the comically obvious (Department stores are big! Boutiques are small!) to the downright dumbfounding (Don't try swimsuits on in the store. Order a bunch online and try them on in your home.). The most dominate thought I'm left with is how fun it would be to make my own book showing off my closet. I know I'd love it, so surely everyone else would! Right?

So I got this book for Christmas and read it that day. The first time I saw it was in a Teen Vogue issue, and I didn't pay much attention until I saw it at Borders. I looked through it and thought, "Wow, I need to get this book!" So I told my parents and they got it for me for Christmas. And i was EXCITED. But overall this book was amazing! It has so much information on style and I really enjoyed and learned from it. Considering I'm so into fashion and style, I loved it! Also, this is more of the side of fashion I want to get into, styling, putting outfits together and more. Also, for a worldly book on clothes and style written by a Hollywood celeb, I was impressed, no cussing! I really recommend this book not only for those who want a career in fashion but anybody who enjoys clothes and styles, or need help with it, this book will help you from everything from cleaning your closet, getting basic essentials, accessorizing, shoe shopping, party outfits, and even make-up and hair! And as a last note, I'm pretty sure this book is for girls only...

Surprisingly I really enjoyed this book. I have a secret addiction to style shows and on occassion even attempt to ramp up my own wardrobe. I also really love Conrad's line at Kohl's, but I was unsure of what to expect from this book. I was really pleasantly surprised. I anticipated alot of plugging her own line, instead I found really well thought out guidelines for making the most of your wordrobe. Conrad highlighted differnt articles of clothing instead of brands and I found that to be really refreshing. I especially liked the chapter about how to clean out your overstuffed closet. It was a interesting look into how she lives and how you can take some of what she does and apply it to herself. Occasional mentions were made of her time on reality TV, but only as they applied to the subject at hand, and I never felt like she was trading on her tv persona in this book. Instead I felt like I was reading a book about creating your own personal style by someone who really knew what they were talking about. This is by no means a heavy read, and you can blow through it in under an hour, but for what it is, a style guide, it's really well done. If you have a budding fashionista, or someone who is in dire need of an overhaul, this would be a great book to grab up for the holidays!

I've always loved Lauren Conrad's style and this book is a really good reference to have with plenty of advice and top tips without trying to remove your own unique style.
For me, the key pieces or basics where quite helpful as I often fall into the trap of buying something and never wearing it. And Lauren looked simply stunning in all the pictures!
I liked how it wasn't just aimed at girls or at women. She adressed all ages from school wear to work wear with tips that everyone could use. And I liked that she gave her own life experiences and seemed relatable.
Overall, what makes this book good it that it provides the reader with the confidence to try new styles or just update their style but most importantly makes them feel good about themselves. I was also glad how she advised women not to idolise magazines explaining what really happens at a photoshoot.
This isn't really a book for reading its more of a reference or guide but a good one :)

Style, by Lauren Conrad is a non fiction book in which she expresses her perspective on many topics of personal style. These include Building a Wardrobe, Mastering your Closet, How to Shop and many more.
I personally love Lauren Conrad's style which allows me to fully enjoy this book but it does not only focus on her style but developing your own personal style. She starts with baby steps that make it almost impossible to fail.
The way Lauren Conrad writes this book is almost like you’ve known her for many years and thats shes right there with you telling her style secrets. It allows the reader to be comfortable while enjoying this book.
Throughout the book she has purple side bars that contain helpful tips personal stories and even embarrassing ones (Those are the best parts). This allows the reader to know that Lauren isn’t just another crazed celebrity trying to make a quick buck, it shows that she really cares about fashion and making a difference in the personal style of others.
Style is the sort of book you can read again and again because the information and the main message is timeless. From classic hairdos to preppy outfits that will always be in style. This book gives me inspiration for many of my outfits everyday. It also taught me that anybody type can be stylish, you just have to dress up your best qualities.
Lauren Conrad did an outstanding job on this original book. If you want to know more about the style secrets Lauren has collected over the years then pick your own copy of Style by Lauren Conrad. This is an inspiring book that will help your personal style flourish.

this book was everything i wished derek blasberg's trainwreck "classy" would have been. LC gives tips on looking classy (down to how much cleavage is acceptable- i think it was 3/4 of an inch but didn't bother to remember because i don't have any cleavage) without being a jerk, proving that she (unlike my mortal enemy blasberg) actually IS classy.
that said, there weren't many surprises in here. i only learned a few things i didn't already know, but teens should find fresh knowledge. the book could also be called "lauren conrad style for people who look like lauren conrad." i am pretty much opposite of her in height, body proportion, coloring, and income bracket, so that limits what i can do. that and the fact that i will never feel the need to glue individual fake eyelashes to my eyelids. still, i found a braid thingie i want to try in my hair, as well as some good suggestions for packing and cleaning closets. the photography throughout was gorgeous, but i would have liked to see more photos of processes, and not just finished products. some of her instructions were a little vague, and i need help learning how to blowdry using a round brush without having to cut my hair off the brush afterward.
overall, a solid choice for teens.

Sadly, like my females from early teens to late twenties I love Lauren Conrad's style and make-up looks. I've only ever seen a handful of episodes of The Hills but I always loved the way Lauren looked and wondered what her fashion tips and possible tricks would be so I really hard to buy this.
I found the overall layout of the book to be quite nice but a bit bland and sparse in sections. However I really like the fashion tips and ideas Lauren put into this book. I did expect a bit more than the standard in comparison to other fashion books such as Gok Wan's and sadly founding it a bit lacking as it was very similar in what Lauren classed as basics to Gok's and other fashion books but I liked the extras that Lauren included, like how to style a LBD in different ways for different occasions.
Although it was interesting to have information on Lauren's make-up it wasn't very noteworthy. Overall, a nice book that it more suited to teens and big Lauren Conrad fans.

As someone who has never been a fan of Laguna Beach or The Hills (I've seen maybe 3 episodes total), I've still been able to appreciate Lauren Conrad's sense of style. I think she almost always looks fantastic from head to toe. Gorgeous hair, great makeup, and amazingly fantabulous clothes. Conrad's style book takes you through the basic pieces you should have in your wardrobe, how to mix and match prints, and how to select the perfect style of jeans. Additionally, she suggests shopping methods, including how to choose and alter vintage pieces. Not only about fashion, Conrad also has chapters on make-up and hair. Filled with photos to help the budding fashionista, Lauren Conrad Style is an absolute must read for any fan of her looks or someone starting out on their own style journey.

I actually really liked this book, it's different than other fashion books. Conrad didn't try to sound glamorous and didn't have that I am above you connotation, too many of these books have. Her writing was relatable, humorous and had a real voice. The advice given was very handy and I learned a thing or two.
This book just isn't about clothes, it's about the entire package. Conrad addresses each aspect of style like hair, nails, make up, even a section on taking pictures. She hits the notes that us girls worry about, but never want to admit. She's honest and through the pages you get a sense of who she is. Overall it's a nice book to pick up on a boring day.

Geez, man. Everyone's bagging on this book in the reviews, but it's not that bad. Yes, some of the tips are really obvious, or some are so extravagant that only the wealthy can truly afford them, and okay, maybe her tips didn't reach out to a broad audience of women...wait, what was I saying again?
This book was fun for a bit. Tedious at times, but it's not meant to be a fine piece of literature. She's from The Hills, people. I don't know what you're expecting from her. This was at least better than the novels she writes. Oh man. Those are terrible. Anyway, this wasn't that bad. It didn't have any real notable tips, but it was kind of interesting to flip through.

If you're a fan of Lauren like I am you'll love this book. It's full of her personality (bubbly and cute) and I enjoyed that. She offers up GREAT tips on fashion and how to wear things. Towards the end she writes a little bit about makeup and hair and packing but doesn't go into too much detail about that. So if you're into fashion and want to know how to wear the clothes out there and how to wear them as outfits you'll like this one.

This is definitely not the usual kind of book I review. I jumped at the chance to get a copy though because I love doing makeup and hair and I was curious to see what Lauren had to say about that. I also love Lauren Conrad and her style is amazing (in my opinion) and I wanted to see what tips and tricks she could give me.
First: the style. I enjoyed learning about the staple pieces everyone should have and also how to hem jeans (which I didn't know how to do properly). I found organizing my closet was a bit helpful too. Other than that the other style chapters didn't really interest me. She talks about shopping and wearing vintage, getting the best t-shirt for you, dressing proportionately, and much more. It's not that they didn't inform me, the definitely did, I just didn't find that I would be using the information anytime soon.
Next: the makeup. I always loved Lauren's eyeliner, but I didn't know that she never wears eyeshadow. Did you? Even so, her makeup artist tells the reader the best day and nighttime looks, easy ways to do the smoky eye, tips on applying concealer, bronzer, and blush, and of course the eyeliner. I found all of these sections very interesting and I am definitely going to be trying out all of the looks.
Last: the hair. I was disappointed with this section for a few reasons. First, I found the instructions hard to follow. I wanted to try out the guide for making the perfect waves and the simple up do. Both instructions confused me though and I feel like I'd be better off looking on YouTube for tutorials. Even so, the tips for keeping one's hair healthy were very helpful and I definitely learned a few things.
There were other sections like organizing your closet and I found these helpful too. Although this book had very simple information, I still was able to learn from it. If you are an avid reader of style magazines, I would just borrow this book from the library because most of this can be found in magazines. It is a nice compilation of information though.
Overall I found this book to be a great starter guide for women. As for women who are more experienced in style, makeup, and hair it is still a great read and you are bound to find some new tips and information.

I'm a closet fashionista, no pun intended. My interest in fashion lead me to buy Lauren Conrad's "Style" on a recent trip to Barnes & Noble. While I know virtually nothing about this Hollywood starlet, I was attracted to "Style" on the recommendation of others as well as the nice layout of the book itself. It was a short and enjoyable read, with only a few cons to prevent a full five-star treatment.
The book is divided into various chapters, where Conrad addresses a wide variety of topics. The book encompasses not only clothing, but overall 'style', with chapters on make-up, closet organization, and how to photograph well. The vast majority of the tips were helpful. For example, Conrad mentioned a shopping test, where one steps away from the mirror and when they step back, note what is the first they notice about themself. This test came in handy during my last shopping excursion! The overall messages of the chapters are positive and full of sound advice on how to dress one's body type, focus on buying versatile pieces, keep one's closet clean, etc.
The drawbacks to this book were minor. The make-up section is short and almost unnecessary, as it only offers only how-tos on Lauren Conrad's usual look. Of course, this book is by Lauren Conrad, but considering the rest of the book deals with personal style (and not Lauren's), the chapter seems out of place. Sometimes the details about Conrad's personal life create a disconnect with the reader. How often she shops, how much she spends, where she travels: While they're important details, they paint a picture of a charmed life that make her advice seem impractical. Plus, a personal disclaimer - I can't say I'm a fan of Conrad's signature mini-skirts/dresses. While this may not offend other readers, and it factored little into the actual content of the book, I think it is important to note this fact for those of like mind when it comes to modesty.
Nonetheless, "Style" is entertaining to read and a helpful companion to anyone looking to discover their own 'look' and develop their wardrobe. I would recommend to anyone who has an interest in fashion.

I find it so hard to properly review Style by Lauren Conrad mainly because self help books are so subjective that its really hard to review this book without completely leaning to one side.
I think Style is a hit or miss, depending on who is reading it — and for me, it is a miss. I have loved Lauren Conrad since her Laguna Beach days and I know she went to fashion school and is very successful so I picked up Style hoping to learn more than I already know. I’m in no way an expert on the topic of fashion and style but a lot of what’s taught in the book is stuff I already know or what I assume is “common knowledge” — for things such as the little black dress (because it seems like every fashion magazine, blogs, etc talk about the LBD). In a way, I didn’t feel like I learnt much from her book because of prior knowledge. But again — this book would be good for someone who is looking to revamp their wardrobe or their look or possibly those of a younger age group than me.
Owing to personal circumstances, there’s not a lot in her book that I can follow. This is of course different for individuals, but for me, personally, there isn’t much I can adopt. I can tweak it a little bit but there’s only so much I can do.
Style covers 3 main topics: fashion, beauty and lifestyle. This goes from essential clothing items, how to shop, makeup and hair and dressing for different occasions. I did particularly like the jeans section, mixing prints, how to dress for your figure and the make up section but that’s about all that I liked.
I don’t think it’s necessary for me to have this book — I think for me, I’m better off sitting in the library copying down the little pointers I want mainly because not everything is applicable to me. I don’t know if there is a specific targeted audience, but I feel like it would be better for teens looking to build their wardrobe. But again, there’s so many beauty and fashion gurus and books out there that can help you, so my suggestion is to really flip through the book to see if its going to be useful for you, before you buy it.

I recently, read this quick pic book on fashion and style. I was not sure if I was going to like it or not, but wanted to read something different. In this book the fashion icon, Lauren Conrad, discusses different tips about clothing, shopping, accessories, getting dressed, makeup, hair, work and school clothes, and events and party clothes. She breaks it down into seven different chapters all about different fashion tips. In one chapter she talks about the key pieces that every young girl should own in her wardrobe. In another chapter Lauren discusses how to shop and different deals and things to look for while trying on clothes. She also talks about organizing your closet and getting rid of clothes you no longer want or need. Then, she discusses different hair styles and makeup. Then, in the end of the book she discusses how to dress for school, work, day time, night time, weekends, and events and parties.
I do think that this book would be best suited for the high school girl who either is into fashion or who wants to know more about how to look good. Some of the tips Lauren give deal with makeup and I personally do not think middle school students should be wearing makeup at such a young age. I also believe that wealthy high school girls would enjoy reading this book more, since some of the items Lauren mentions are expensive to purchase. For example, in one section of the book Lauren Conrad does discuss how to dress up a school uniform. Most young girls who attend a private school come from wealthier families. However, there was one section at the end of the book that I do not know how any young girl could relate to unless you were famous. Lauren Conrad gives tips on how to pose for photos, what to avoid when you’re getting your picture taken, and what happens at photo shoots. Besides this last section of the book, I think most young high school girls could relate and enjoy some of these fashion tips.
I would pair a fashion magazine with this book, since they both have so much in common.

I love, love, love this book! I usually hate fashion magazines and books, because they perpetuate so many negative ideas and ideals about women and their bodies. But this book is an every woman's guide. As I said in my currently reading review this book is big on clean illustrations and lite on jargon. It is something that not only catches the eye, but allows a reader to pick and choose sections at leisure.
This book is a great fashion resource. It is not constrained by current trends. Rather the book helps the reader build their own fashion sense by talking about body style, personality and experimenting to find what works. Then it supports this primary construction with basics of upkeep, planning and even etiquette.
My favorite tip in the whole book is having a cobbler add rubber soles to shoes that you "love" to extend the life of the shoe. I have a pair of boots in my car ready to go to the local cobbler. There are other great tips about things that cobbler's can do to make a pair of shoes fit better.
The book doesn't stop at clothing and accessories. It includes tips about make-up and hair. I love the beginning of the makeup section, because Lauren talks about how she started wearing make-up when she was in 7th grade. My daughter is in 7th grade and experimenting with make-up. She's picked up this book several times in the past weeks. Yes! I don't usually give her advice on fashion and makeup because she and I have integrally different styles. But this book is easy common ground for us.

It's cool when a pop-culture icon tells you to beware of being trashy, but it's decidedly uncool when your mom says it:)

I asked for this book from my parents for Christmas, after I had received Lauren Conrad Beauty the year before. I got it, and was expecting more of how to wear different articles of clothing. What I did not expect was tips on saving money whilst shopping, how to organize your closet, and also ideas on how to wear different accessories. I was very pleasantly surprised.
The book is divided into three sections, Fashion, Beauty, and Lifestyle.
In the Fashion section, it (obviously) tells you how you can build your wardrobe, how to shop smart, tips on wearing accessories, and then finally getting dressed. Not that you need to know how to dress yourself, but it gives you tips on layering and things like that.
The Beauty section is very minor, only giving a few tips for makeup and hair. But definitely check out Lauren Conrad Beauty if you would like to know more about health, hair, and makeup.
And finally the Lifestyle section gives you tips on how to dress up your school uniform and look professional for work, as well as events and parties, and also tips on what and how to pack well for traveling.
This book was probably written with teenagers in mind, ones who are just starting to get their feet wet when it comes to dressing nice. But, I've read many other reviews from mothers and grandmothers who found the tips in the book helpful as well.

Lauren Conrad we all know her from her television show The Hills where you saw how fabulous her style was and no one could forget her signature bun. I picked this up because I've seen pictures of Lauren Conrad on the Hills and on the red carpet and she always looks amazing.The book starts off with wardrobe essentials: the white-collared button down shirt, the black boots, the dark-wash jeans. It's all stuff we've heard of before. Lauren then gives a few tips and tricks for everyday classics: how to find the perfect pair of jeans, how to find the best casual tee for your body type, and mixing patterns. She has a few chapters devoted to makeup and jewelry as well. But none of it is anything you haven't heard before if you've read previous style books.This book is great for girls who need tips on fashion related issues. It gives great advice on style techniques. There is information on how to create a smokey eye, what to pack when going on different vacations or getaways, accessories, clothing, and shoes. I have referred back to it numerous of times. It is my fashion to go book. There is one thing that stuck out the most "My seven-year-old self would throw on some jewels, heels, fluorescent bike shorts (to, you know, make the outfit more 'daytime'), and heart-shaped sunglasses and march into those meetings looking fabulous. But that doesn't exactly fly when you want to be taken seriously (Conrad)".
Don't we all wish we could dress like that, like we did when we were kids and no one cared that we wore sneakers with our Sunday dress or that our our t-shirt didn't match our shorts.

Lauren Conrad has been an icon of mine since she graced my screens on MTV's Laguna Beach. Being a teenage girl obsessed with style, drama and of course, anywhere sunnier and better-looking than England, The Hills was a perfect TV show for me. Straight from the beginning, I fell in love with Lauren Conrad (in a totally heterosexual, girl-crush kind of way.) She was beautiful, had great style, had interesting relationships and was in general, a friendly loving person. I followed her through Laguna Beach and all 6 seasons of the Hills, so when she brought out a book promising to give away all her style secrets and tips, I knew I had to check it out.
I have to admit, I was a little disappointed. The book had some useful tips, but mostly it was common sense and things my grandma could have told me, eg. about sewing. There wasn't much personality in it and it was as if Lauren didn't even write it, she was just the face to put on the cover and the name to use to sell some books.
The random photographs of LC placed throughout the book were stiff and weren't personal to her. She was just stood in a white studio, changing hair, make-up and outfits a couple of times and that was it. Maybe an hours work? Not impressive.
I wouldn't recommend this book to anybody, unless you're extremely interested in designing your own clothes and don't know much about anything... This book could probably teach you the basics. Other than that, it was pretty boring.

Lauren Conrad was everywhere when I was in junior high and high school. Every girl wanted to be her. She had what seemed like a glamorous life, and she was on her own TV show. I really thought of her as someone real, and I've always admired her, even to this day. I even buy some pieces from her Kohl's fashion line because they are cute and affordable. I can even wear them to work and still feel professional.
When I found this book for $8 at a discount store, I grabbed it. I could always use a little help when it comes to fashion and style. I'm not afraid to admit it. Sometimes, I just put some whacky stuff together. Sometimes, I just don't know what kind of accessories to wear with dresses to make it feel like a complete outfit.
