A true “white knight” romance with a Scottish flair.

Diarmid Mactavish, Laird of Invertavey, is out for a ride when he finds a young woman washed ashore near death. He brings her back to his home to heal. Fiona Grant is appreciative, although skeptical, of the handsome stranger who helps her. Once she learns that he is a Mactavish and enemy of her clan she becomes even more afraid, therefore she feigns amnesia.

Diarmid is all that is good and wholesome. He is sweet and kind and feels obligated to help this stranger. He is truly a “white knight” in that he goes above and beyond helping Fiona and in the process he helps her gain her confidence and allay her fears especially of men.

Fiona has been abused and mistreated for the last ten years and distrusts all men and their motives. But as she experiences the kindness of Diarmid her guard begins to drop and eventually she sees him as a genuinely good man. Diarmid is so patient with Fiona and it is wonderful to see how he patiently and lovingly deals with her.

This is truly a good romance. No alpha hero here, but a genuinely “perfect” one”. A little steamy but tastefully done. Has some mention of physical, emotional and sexual abuse but not graphic. Campbell has an excellent writing style.

Diarmid Mactavish, Laird of Intertavey in the Scottish Highlands, is out for an early morning ride when he discovers the body of a man on the beach who’s obviously drowned. Nearby is another one, a woman who is still alive. After reviving her, she tells him that she has no memory of who she is or where she’s from. Secretly, Fiona Grant knows full well her identity but has always been taught that the Mactavishes are mortal enemies of the Grants and not to be trusted even though she’s fleeing the brutish Grant clan. And, she’s in search of her 9-year daughter who they took away from her almost a year ago.

One of the things I’m enjoying about the series are the strong heroines. Fiona has suffered greatly but instead of being a victim she became stronger and more resilient. Diarmid carries some baggage because of his mother’s betrayal of him and his father so he’s definitely suspicious of the beautiful Fiona and brings that to the relationship. While they’re both drawn to each other, the tension comes from their struggles to get beyond their suspicions and develop trust. Fiona had a terrible past that was slowly revealed through the course of the story. It made for a much more interesting reading experience even though I was anxious to learn everything right away.

It makes such a difference when you like both characters despite their stubbornness and missteps. These two were well crafted. Diarmid doesn’t always do the right thing but his heart’s in the right place. Likewise for Fiona and every decision she makes is for her daughter’s sake. I loved the mix of mystery, suspense, romance and place in this story. Campbell always gets the vernacular correct, making you feel like you’re in the era and in the Scottish hillsides. This was a lovely story even in the tough moments. I hated to see this one end.

(Thank you to he author for my complimentary copy. All opinions are my own.)

She may have been lost but she found the right path...

I've always been a fan of historical romances but add in a Highlander and I'm normally verra, verra happy. Each page turned, I was comfortable in my reading experience. The Highlander's Lost Lady flowed in a way that was what I expected, but also what I desired. I need my hero to be a Knight in Highlander Armour who saves his Lost Lady. I want the heroine to be miserable, vulnerable and Lost, so she'll love her Highlander Knight when he saves the day. The baddie needs to be despicable and a nightmare no one would want to be around, so when he is vanquished, leaves you satisfied with his macabre demise. Anna Campbell's story left me extremely satisfied and I achieved my reading happy place.

Diarmid, Laird of Invertavey, cannot believe his eyes when he finds a mermaid washed up on his beach. Well, he's not really surprised to find another victim of the sea washed up, unfortunately. What he is surprised about is that the frail beauty is still alive, unlike the elder gentleman who washed up beside her. Knowing that every minute she's exposed to the weather could be dangerous to her health, he rushes to bring her home with him. Diarmid feels guilt when he accepts his attraction to her beauty and recognises he feels protective towards the Lost Lady.

All seems lost when Fiona realises she's been shipwrecked at her enemies feet. The plans she's made to escape her nightmare have been ruined, and if her rescuer finds out her identity, it could make things even worse. The Mactavish's are not at all as she expected her enemies to be. They are kind, generous and caring which is something she hasn't been exposed to since her father passed. With her nightmare taking this surprising turn, Fiona is not sure she has the strength or courage to do the one thing she set out to do...save her daughter.

I loved that Diarmid was a good man and stayed honourable from beginning to end. It was a treat that Fiona wasn't a heroine who could "save the day" one minute, host a soiree the next, AND be a seductress in the bedroom at the end of the day. Fiona is vulnerable and a wee bit broken. I preferred that she was portrayed realistically and that she wasn't expected to be fixed in a minute or to get over her past. Her journey to happiness had to come with her ability to accept she wasn't alone anymore.

While some readers may find The Highlander's Lost Lady a wee bit predictable, this is what made the story for me. I want a story that takes me back in time to dashing men, coiffed and beautifully dressed ladies and sigh-worthy heroics. Sure, it may not be 100% historically accurate (not that I know what 100% historically accurate is, mind you), but I wasn't distracted by the "modern" feel. It felt accurate so I guess the author hit the mark.

I will admit, Fiona's constant crying was a wee bit trying at times, but she had every reason to, considering what she's faced. Diarmid's martyr act was a wee bit unbelievable, so I'm glad they worked through their problems by the end. This was a very sexy read, so if you're not a fan of intimate scenes with a lot of heat, this might not be the best fit for you. There are some difficult scenes from Fiona's past that can be confronting, but the descriptions were not delved into too deeply. I was never uncomfortable to the extreme, more disgusted by what happened frequently in the past.

If you're looking for an entertaining read, I highly recommend giving The Highlander's Lost Lady a try.

McTavish finds two bodies , a deceased man and a live woman on the beach whist out riding .
Helping the woman is obvious, but not so obvious are her injuries , she says she’s lost her memory, he’s not convinced.
Something doesn’t add up .

Fiona Grant is stunned to realise she’s washed up on enemy shores, men are not to be trusted and McTavish is just the same as far as she’s concerned.
However, all she experienced so far with men is not what she experiences here , he’s kind , thoughtful and handsome, maybe he’s different.

The third book in Anna Campbell’s The Lairds Most Likely series.

This is a really good read , all the way through you wish if they would just confide in each other life would be so much easier .
Really enjoyable.

The last thing Diarmid Mactavish, Laird of Invertavey, ever expected to find washed up on his beach is the love of his life - but that is exactly what he finds while out riding the night after a wicked storm.

Fiona Grant is on a mission to reclaim her daughter. Orphaned at 15, her father's clansmen took custody of her and married her to the Laird's brother - a man 30 years her senior. After 10 years of abuse at the hands of the Grants, Fiona is a shell of the woman she once was, now widowed, she thinks she might finally be free but when she learns of their plans for her daughter Christina, she will move heaven and earth to save her. Fiona escapes and with the help of Colin, a fisherman, she sets out to find Christina. When Fiona wakes, she learns that Colin is dead and she is on the lands of her clans most hated enemy - the Mactavishs - she is weak and in no condition to continue on with her search, she needs time to heal and form a new plan. Convinced the hated Mactavishs will send her back to her clan, Fiona pretends to have amnesia - a ploy that Diarmid clearly doesn't beleive.

Fiona begins to heal and plans to run, but when her brother in law comes to Invertavey and says the mystery girl is his brother's wife, Diarmid has no right to keep her and hands her over to them, even though she is clearly terrified. Later his friend convinces him to go after her and when he finds her tied to a bed, he knows that he can't leave her, even if he has no legal right to her. He rescues her, but he wants answers.

After learning her story, Diarmid vows to help her find her daughter and will do whatever is necessary to reunite her with her child, even endure a loveless, chaste marriage. So with the help of Fergus, Marina and Hamish, Diarmid forms a plan - but will Fiona agree? After 9 years as a wife, she has no desire to marry again and submit herself to a man, even one as kind and handsome as Diarmid.

This was not your typical, boy saves girl and they fall in love story, it is much deeper than that, both Diarmid and Fiona have valid reasons to avoid love and Fiona has endured years of abuse. She is not broken, but she is deeply bruised and may never be able to be the wife Diarmid deserves, but to save her daughter the same fate she had, she will marry him and try to be the best wife she can. These two will have a very long journey to their HEA and it kept this reader reading long into the night, unable to put the book down until I knew how it would end. The book is well written, but it was a little repetitive in the beginning as we learn why Diarmid doesn't trust love and why Fiona doesn't beleive in it, but once her identity is revealed, the story takes off and doesn't stop until the final page. There are cameos with Fergus, Marina and Hamish, steamy-ish love scenes, a lot of emotion, some chilling, nail-biting moments, evil villains and an unexpected ending. This is the third book in the Lairds Most Likely series, but it could be read as a stand alone title with no problem - but, I will give you fair warning, once you meet Fergus and Marina in this book, you are going to want to read their story!!! I am happy to recommend this book and can't wait for the next one!!

Anna has done it again! A braw honorable handsome Highlander and a courageous Lady. Every time I read an Anna Campbell Highland Historical Romance I am transported to the Highlands of Scotland, the beautiful beaches, lochs, and mountains. You imagine you can smell the heather and taste the scotch whiskey. Her captivating characters are what truly make her books so wonderful. You can tell that she really loves her characters and puts all of her heart into these stories.

Diamid Mactavish, Laird of Invertavey is taking his daily ride on the beach when he comes across two bodies sprawled on the beach. The man is dead but the woman is still alive. They must have wreaked on the rocks and the bodies washed up on the beach. He takes the woman back to his home and summons the doctor. When the young woman regains consciousness she does not remember her name or why she was found on the beach. She is beautiful, an observation that does not escape Diarmid. He is a good judge of character and suspects that she is not telling the truth. He is willing to wait for her to tell him the truth of who she was and why she wound up on his beach.

Fiona Grant wakes and finds herself in the home of her Clan's bitter enemy. Everything is going wrong. She escaped from her late husband's cruel abusive brothers and set out in a small fishing boat to go find her daughter. Her brother in law had taken her daughter hostage so that she will marry him. She has no intention of cooperating. She escaped and was going to rescue her daughter no matter what she had to do. She has no money, weapons or mode of transportation, but she is not beaten yet. She was married when she was 15 to a much older man who abused her for years. The only comfort that she had was her daughter. After he died she tried to run with her daughter, but her brother in law had other plans. Now she has to find a way to escape from Invertavey and rescue her daughter. She is so tired and doesn't know where to turn.

Diarmid will do what any gentleman and Scot would do. He takes her into his home for her to recuperate. He can see that she has been abused and she is at the end of her rope. He wants to help her, but she has to learn to trust him with the truth.

Diamid and Fiona will take a journey that will test their strengths, their minds, and their hearts. Can Fiona trust him? She has not had a peaceful day in years and doesn't understand why Diarmid is being so kind. Her experience is that men take what they want with force and care nothing if they hurt her. This is a story of two people who have lived two completely different lives, one who has known kindness and love and one who has only known pain and cruelty. Can they find common ground or maybe even love? I really enjoyed this story and know you will too!! Anna has the best Highlanders!

I am loving this series, MS Campbell never disappoints me with her written words they flow from the pages, she brings her characters to life, makes me cheer for them cry with them and smile with them, this time back in the highlands we get to know Diarmid and the woman who will steal his heart Fiona Grant, make yourself comfortable for this fabulous journey to a HEA that will leave you feeling so good.

Diarmid Mactavish, Laird of Invertavey is very happy being single after his childhood that is until he rescues a beautiful woman who has been washed up on the beach, this woman claims to have no knowledge of who she is and Diarmid is convinced she is lying and that there is more to her story. But he is drawn to her in many ways and is determined to save her and get to the bottom of the mystery and try not to lose his heart along the way.

Fiona Grant is in dire straits, she is a mother and will do anything to save her daughter, she has been treated dreadfully by her family over the years and now she appears to have fallen into another man’s world, but as she gets to know this man she sees that not all men are cruel, Diarmid offers to help rescue her daughter and along the way he teaches Fiona what love is.

MS Campbell you know how to write a story that captures the reader, makes them feel like they are in the Scottish Highlands, this one is truly lovely, I fell so hard for hero Diarmid what a man, what a hero and Fiona the strength and courage she shows after all that she has been through made this a story that was very hard to put down. This story is so very moving, emotional and so beautifully sensual, a must read thank you so much I loved this one so much.

If you enjoy an emotional romance with derring do, a dashing, kilted hero and lots of passion, Anna Campbell's latest is for you. This Highlander series is great fun. You don't even have to read them in order, but once you read one you'll probably want to pick up the rest.

Diarmid Mactavish, Laird Intertavey is a man determined to avoid love. He saw firsthand how his mother’s continual cheating destroyed his father, and he wants no part of that kind of heartache. As he’s walking along the beach one day, he discovers two bodies washed ashore, obviously victims of a shipwreck. To his surprise, the woman has somehow survived the frigid night and is clinging to life. He carries her off to his home, hoping she’ll be able to beat the odds and live.

When Fiona Grant regains consciousness, and realizes that she has been taken in by her family’s long time enemy, she feigns amnesia. Determined to regain her strength and return to her quest as soon as she is physically able, Fiona continues her deception, though Diarmid has his doubts. Fiona fled an abusive domestic situation, with plans to find her daughter, who had been taken from her, and run to somewhere safe, perhaps even America.

Diarmid is aware that Fiona is hiding something and is not being truthful. Still, he is drawn to her in a way totally foreign to him. As she heals, he can now tell that she’s beautiful, but it’s more than her physical charm that calls to him. Though Diarmid and his household have been only courteous and kind to Fiona, she knows she can’t trust anyone, particularly a man. She knows how deceitful and brutal they can be. Fiona formulates her plan for leaving, when two members of the Grant clan come calling. Brothers Allan and Thomas Grant have followed Fiona’s trail, and have come to claim Thomas’s runaway wife. Diarmid has no authority to hold Fiona from her family, so the brothers immediately take her away.

Diarmid is crushed to learn that Fiona is married, yet something else about the situation just doesn’t feel right. Despite common sense telling him that he shouldn’t interfere, he decides to follow the trio, and determine if Fiona is actually in any kind of danger. He finds Fiona has been locked up while the brothers are having a meal, and he frees her and they make a hasty escape. Once they’re far enough away from the Grant brothers, it’s time to have a serious conversation about Fiona’s situation.

When Fiona’s parents died, she was forced to marry, not Thomas, but Ian Grant, another brother, who is now deceased. She was only fifteen at the time, and had a child, Christina, when she was sixteen. She suffered years of abuse and learned to fear and despise the touch of a man. When Ian died, her daughter was sent away to a foster family. Now the Grants plan to force Fiona to marry Thomas by using her daughter as a tool. They also have nefarious plans for Christina as soon as she turns twelve. Fiona realizes that she trusts Diarmid to help her retrieve her daughter and to keep them both safe from the Grants. Fiona has experienced enough to know that Diarmid desires her, and though she loathes sexual intimacy, she tries to repay Diarmid for his aid in the only way she knows how. Though Diarmid is burning for Fiona, he also sees the reason she offers herself to him, and refuses as kindly as he can. Fiona is confused that a man who so obviously wants her would refuse her. She’s torn between feeling relief that she was rejected, and anger that she has no way to repay Diarmid. She slowly comes to see just how honorable a man Diarmid is, and the lengths he’ll go to in order to protect her.

Diarmid begins to investigate the legal possibilities of Fiona’s situation, and determines that she would be in a much more favorable position if she were married. He proposes a marriage of convenience, swearing that he would never expect a physical relationship. Fiona is horrified at the thought of marrying again, even knowing the type of man Diarmid is, and flatly refuses. Eventually, she is worn down, and desperate enough to accept his proposal, willing to sacrifice anything to have Christina back with her, and to be in a position where she doesn’t have to hide.

How I love Diarmid! He’s truly a hero who’s willing to sacrifice his all for the woman he’s come to love. Even through his own pain of knowing that he’ll never have Fiona’s love, or even the comfort of her body, he treats her with care and respect. Fiona struggles to be a good wife and to overcome the wounds that years of abuse have left on her soul. THE HIGHLANDER’S LOST LADY takes the reader on a journey through danger and betrayal, then finally, and satisfyingly, to trust, healing, passion, and ultimately – love.

What a life Fiona had endured and now she feared for her daughter. Fiona was a brave woman, perhaps a little to weepy but who wouldn’t be, having her life. Her background made her distrustful of all men. Diarmid was an honourable man in all ways. He pledged to help Fiona, no matter the cost to himself. I enjoyed catching up with Fergus and Marina from a previous book in the series. This was an interesting story, the relationship between Fiona and Diarmid was endearing and there were a few dangerous situations. I received a copy via Ebook Discovery and have voluntarily reviewed it. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Laird Diarmid Mactavish, Laird of Intertavey, finds a drowned man and nearly drowned woman washed up on his beach. Fiona Grant is fleeing from her hateful, cruel clan and trying to find her daughter. She feigns amnesia so she can stay long enough to gather strength to go and find her daughter. Before she can get away, the head of the Grant Clan comes for her and lies to Diarmid by telling him that she is his brother's wife. Fiona was his brother's wife but her husband was dead. They are returning her to Bancavan and promised punishment. Diarmid realizes that he has to go after her. Together they face almost insurmountable odds to flee from the Grants and reach Christina before the Grants can move her. Along the way, they realize how much they care for one another but the course of true love does not run smooth. How can there be love without trust? How can gratitude kill a relationship? Anna Campbell deals with both issues in this wonderful love story.

Be still, my heart

This is a delightful story of fear and danger and unexpected passion.

Diarmid Mactavish is riding on his property when he sees a pair of bodies washed up on the beach. He discovers that the older man is dead, and the young woman appears to be as well, apparently victims of a shipwreck during yesterday's storm.

When he checks more closely, he finds that the woman is alive. He takes her up on his horse and hurries home. After some food, a bath and a warm bed, she tells him that she can't remember who she is. But Fiona Grant is running away from her cruel in-laws to search for her daughter who has been taken away from her. And she has learned from bitter experience to trust no man.

Ms. Campbell has managed to work every known emotion into the story. The result is a mystery/thriller/romance that compels the reader to keep turning the pages to the very end.

Diarmid Mactavish's life is ordered and despite his family's past, he is generally content. Discovering widow Fiona Grant unconscious on his strip of windswept beach upends all his plans and changes his life irrevocably. Fiona's focus is on one thing only, and that is to rescue her daughter, Christine. Falling into enemy hands seems like a disaster but Fiona quickly finds that she is receiving more nurturing and respect from the Mactavishes than she ever had at the hands of her own clan. Diarmid is furious when he discovers that Fiona has lied to him when her family comes to retrieve her, but a gentle word in his ear has him racing after her to rescue her once again. Two reluctant people experience the pull of attraction, despite their previous vows to themselves and when they have to work together to find Christine, respect, and trust work their way into the relationship. I have read the previous two books in this series, and it was enjoyable meeting up with the other characters once again. This romance is well written, suspenseful and fast-paced. It is also a standalone and comes a very successful and happy conclusion. I received this book for free from eBook Discovery. I voluntarily post this review. This is my honest review.

Diarmid finds Fiona on the beach after her boat wrecks. She claims to have lost her memory and doesn't know who she is. Diarmid wants her to recover but wants to locate her family so that they don't worry. Fiona insists that he not bother. Diarmid knows that she is lying, but can't figure out why.

Fiona acts like she has lost her memory because Diarmid is the head of a clan that has had a long feud with her own. She believes that if he knows who she is, he will just turn her over to them. But her daughter has been taken from her and she is determined to find her.

Fiona and Diarmid's attraction to each other grows with each interaction. But what will he do when he learns the truth of why she was found on his beach?

I loved Diarmid and Fiona's story!! The attraction between these two was red hot! But Fiona's dead husband was physically and mentally abusive to her and she has vowed never to marry again. Diarmid had a hard battle to fight to win her over.

This was a great addition to the Lairds Most Likely series!! I can't wait to see what Campbell comes up with next!!

Diarmid doesn’t know who is the shipwrecked lass stranded on a beach in his property and the fact that she claims to have lost her memory doesn’t help.
Fiona needs to keep her identity secret especially from the kind and handsome man who rescued her.
Will her lies and deceptions be enough against this clever man?

The Highlander’s Lost Lady is the third book in “The Lairds Most Likely” series by author Anna Campbell. Wow! What a fantastic story, captivating from beginning to end!

Diarmid Mactavish is Laird of Invertavey. If you’ve read the previous two books in this series, then you’ve already met Diarmid. While out riding on his estate, he discovers two bodies washed up onto the beach. When he’s about to give up hope that neither one suvived, he realizes the young woman is still alive. He takes her back to his estate to recover, but when she claims she doesn’t remember who she is, Diarmid is suspicious.

Fiona Grant has run away from her clan, only to end up half dead on land owned by Diarmid Mactavis, an enemy to her clan. Desperate to rescue her daughter who has been taken away from her, and not one to easily trust, especially when it comes to men, she’s leery of telling Diarmid the truth of her situation.

First I have to say I really loved Fiona. Her story was heartbreaking and to see that she survived after all she endured, showed what a brave & determined woman she was. She was a good person, forced into a nightmare of a situation at a very young age. As for Diarmid, what an example of the perfect knight in shining armor! I liked the glimpses of him in the previous books, but he truly shined in this story. He was the perfect hero and I have to admit I fell for him too!

Besides a fabulous story between Fiona and Diarmid, author Anna Campbell let us revisit with Fergus and Marina from “The Laird's Willful Lass” the first story in this series. It was wonderful to catch up with them and see them play a role in this story. I have enjoyed each and every story in this series, but this one blew me away! Ms. Campbell never disappoints in delivering a well-written story, full of suspense, humor, and love. It's a fabulous story I struggled to put down. Highly recommend this book and series!

The Highlander’s Lost Lady is the third book in The Lairds Most Likely series. Set in the Scottish Highlands, 1819, with an emotional Epilogue set one year later in 1820. This is an adventurous historical romance that takes you away to the beautiful beaches, shimmering lochs, castles, and mountains of Scotland. It’s a well-paced story through all those landscapes, and I read it in a day. Thirty-five chapters!

The Laird’s Willful Lass: 5- stars
The Laird’s Christmas Kiss: 3- stars
The Highlander’s Lost Lady: 5- stars

Diarmid Mactavish, Laird of Invertavey, discovers a mysterious woman washed up on his land after a wild storm, and he takes her in. Diarmid is the quintessential Scottish Hero; strong, loyal, brave, and passionate. His word is his word. Diarmid really plays the knight in shining armour in this story and cannot be faulted. He is the consummate Hero.

Fiona Grant, a widow, has risked everything to escape her brutish clan to try to rescue her daughter. Fiona needs to save the young lass from a forced marriage and facing the same hardships she herself endured at a young age. Before Fiona’s quest has barely begun, a shipwreck washes her up on Mactavish territory, long-standing enemies of the Grants for centuries. She is a desperate Heroine with ten years of mistreatment tainting her judgement.

Diarmid and Fiona’s relationship was a steady unfurling of trust and passion. Their sexy times were hesitant but honest. There was a bit too much repetition at the beginning in reference to the emotional obstacles both Fiona and Diarmid had to overcome, but that settled down once they started opening up to each other.

I highly recommend this book. I recommend this series.

The hero and heroine, Diarmid and Fiona, were both likable, and they made a good couple. I liked how patient and careful Diarmid was in showing Fiona that sex could be pleasurable, considering her abusive past, and if you like good sex scenes the two in this book take up roughly four chapters. I also loved how brave and determined Fiona was, especially considering her past, she was willing to do almost anything to get her daughter back. There are few negatives though, the hero distrusts all beautiful women because his mother had been beautiful and adulterous, this seemed like a bit of a stretch to me, like if he was going to hate all brunettes because his mother had brown hair, it just seemed like Diarmid should have been smarter than that. When Fiona is rescued from the shipwreck it is mentioned that her body is covered in bruises, everywhere accept for her face, which didn't seemed realistic, like her face probably would be bruised and bloody too. Also, it is mentioned that Diarmid is feeling lust after Fiona when she is weak, bruised, etc, and this was a little disconcerting and didn't seem to fit his characterization later on.

Diarmid MacTavish, laird of his castle in Intertavey located in the Scottish Highlands.
He is charming and gallant at first sight. Riding on his land he comes upon a disturbing sight. Two bodies have been washed ashore, apparently from a shipwreck.
One appears to be dead, and the other near death is a woman.
Fiona Grant a widow who is escaping from her clansmen. She is also trying to protect her young daughter,Christina who has been taken from her. Fiona keeps her identity from Diarmid at first, because the MacTavishes and the Grants are arch rivals.
I have read other books of Anna Campbell's and enjoyed them throughly.
Her captivating characters are well developed, with details and imagery of the highlands, that makes them come alive on the pages in this story.
I received this book from Ebook Discovery for free . I volunteered to review it and this is my honest review.

The is the third in the The Lairds Most Likely series and I must say it is my favourite. I found it hard to put down. I love the adventure and suspense. I found Fergus the perfect sweet gentleman who was a knight in shining armour and Fiona the innocent maiden who was tough and honourable. It was beautifully written about two hurt and lost souls who find love in each other. There was a couple of sex scenes that this reviewer skipped most of as usual, but what I did read was well written and very appropriate for the storyline. It was lovely to catch up with characters from the past books in the series and see how their lives where moving on. I received this as ARC and did my review freely.

Diarmid Mactavish the Laird of Invertavey is out on a horse ride when he discovers a boat crash. He quickly realizes that out of the two persons laying on the shore the woman is alive. He struggles to get her to remain alive and home to take care of her. She wakes up and claims that she does not remember anything. Diarmid does not believe that she is telling the truth.
Fiona Grant is from the Grant clan that is enemies to the Mactavish family. Fiona is a widow that escaped the evil clutches of her clan before she can be married off again and to save her daughter from the same fate that she suffered. She is at first afraid of Diarmid because even though her clan is evil she believed that he was a horrible man just because the clans were enemies. She lies to try to keep everyone safe except it backfires on her and Diarmid has to rescue her back from her clan. The adventure and romance are intertwined the whole book.
I liked most of the characters in the Mactavish clan. They seemed to all be nice, ready to help those who are in need, and good morals. Fiona was a strong woman and willing to work hard for those she trusted. I enjoyed the book. I had a hard time putting it down.

I always enjoy Anna Campbell's books, and this one continues the Laird's Most Likely series with another dashing hero and admirable heroine. It is a little darker and more emotional than the first two books in the series, but since I like some grit with my historical romance that drew me deeper into the story. Fiona, the heroine, battled her past hurts with courage and determination, and Diarmid was a true hero. If you love some Scottish flair with your historical romance, pick up The Highlander's Lost Lady today.

Anna Campbell is a master storyteller. The dramatic events to introduce the plot and characters is a shipwreck, which immediately draws the reader in. I became invested in the book and it’s characters from the start. As the story unfolds the gripping storyline keeps you enthralled and in suspense to find out what to expect next. The heroes purse the heroine’s abusive family and try to retrieve her kidnapped daughter. Steamy sex scenes add to the mix making this an extremely beautiful addition to the series and the genre. If you like romance you’ll love this read. I did.

I wanted this one to be better than it was. I love the genre, and the author can do great things, but this story felt abrupt. I kept waiting for there to be some other conflict beyond the really obvious one set up at the beginning, but there wasn't. The romantic hero's solving of the initial conflict was rather uninspiring, and the characters all felt a little flat. Oh well. It went by fast!

The characters are so endearing. I found that I became emotionally engaged with the characters. Both the heroine and the hero struggled to overcome their flaws, which threatened to disrupt their HEA. However, their differences are resolved in an endearing and believable manner. The pace of the writing is such that it was difficult to put the book down.
