Maggie Tideswell, internationally acclaimed bestselling South African author, has a passion for romance. All over the world people are falling in love, making it love, not money, that makes the world go round.
Ghosts just can't seem to leave her alone and she combines things that can't be explained, sweaty bodies and rumpled beds in a way that will make your toes curl and your hair stand on end.
Maggie just can't do without perfume, coffee and the internet. She is nearly as passionate about food as she is about creating alpha heroes every woman will fall in love with, just as she does, every time.
The strangest thing is that cats have never played any kind of role in her stories, as she is owned by three of them.
That might change soon.

Love, a Questionable Death, and Paranormal Experiences to keep you turning the pages

Goodbye, My Love, by Maggie Tideswell, is a wonderfully crafted romance novel, liberally laced with suspense, spirits and three creepy characters who refuse to leave. Jessica and Ben have a wild attraction to each other; but, with all the paranormal interference, will she be able to win his complete love? Will Roxanne return? Will Daisy and Jamin be free to express their love to the world? Is little Amber autistic or has the truth of her diagnosis been twisted as much as the events of that Friday the thirteenth weekend?

Tideswell, an author who lives in South Africa, weaves a tale that includes details unique to Cape Town and the surrounding area. While walking with the heroine in very romantic situations, the reader also enjoys learning snippets about customs and scenes from another country and culture. Open Goodbye, My Love and step into a world that will thrill you in many ways.

I found this to be a very interesting paranormal romance that kept me thoroughly engrossed throughout. Jess rocks up for an interview to be a nanny for four year Amber who is autistic. However as soon as she arrives for her interview, Ben the veterenarian and father to Amber immediately dismisses her due to her younger age and his instant attraction to her as he is still mourning the loss of his wife.

Things start to immediately get strange from here, as Jess meets Ethel the older housekeeper who says she sent for Jess. Then there are Ben's three sister-in-laws who arrive on the anniversary of the death of his wife Roxanne. Jess then starts seeing visions of a girl called Daisy who lived in a different era and yet still had a connection with young Amber. What do all the dreams mean and is Roxanne haunting them or is she really dead?

This is the first story in a continuing saga and i'm very much looking forward to see where this story ends up.

In general, the story was well-conceived, interesting, and well-written. I enjoyed reading it. Five stars.

I don't normally read romances. This one kept me engaged, interested, and entertained throughout.

My recommendation: read this book. It's really good.

Goodby, My Love - Roxanne's Ghost Saga Episode 1 - Review by Martha A. Cheves

Ben dragged a breath deep into his lungs when he turned to Daemon. "Okay, let's assume you find Roxanne and bring her home. What form is she going to have?" Millicent shared a look with Daemon. "What do you mean?" she asked. "What I mean, Millicent, is simple. Will she be as she was when I saw her last, or will she be a skeleton, or scarred and burned beyond recognition, or a puff of insubstantial smoke? What form are you bringing her home in?" He glared at his sister-in-law. "Roxanne is dead, Millicent!" he bellowed. "Get that into your head. Roxanne is dead and she cannot come back, not as I knew and loved her. Can;t you understand that? I just want to remember he as she was, without you tarnishing my memories of her."

Jessica James has an appointment to meet with a Dr. Ben Arnold who has an Autistic child. Her position will be the child's nanny. From the looks of things Dr. Arnold wants to send her on her way and find someone else. But, due to a 'pack' of dogs that greeted her she will end up having to stay at least for the night.

As the night goes on, Jess is faced with a mattress that seemed to be talking, an owl that appears to be watching over her, a physic who wears a dress, and three sisters that have come to the house insisting that Ben's wife Roxanne isn't dead and they will be bringing her home. On top of all that, Jess has started having her own visions of a woman named Daisy. Did I forget to mention that this all takes place on Friday 13th?

When I started reading Goodbye, My Love I wasn't sure I would make it through to the end. I don't really care for romantic books and this one was starting out on that line with full force. But, I decided to give it a little longer and sure am glad that I did. The romance turned into a full force mystery with a lot of paranormal mixed in. Every page drug me deeper and deeper into the story, not sure what was going to happen next. This book took me to the end and gave me no ending. Just a promise of another book that will keep me going even deeper.

Maggie Tidesell’s South African tale, Goodbye, My Love, has elements of romance, supernatural and even a bit of the macabre. When Jess James decided to apply for a job as a nanny for the autistic four-year old daughter of widower veterinarian, Dr. Ben Arnold, she got more than she bargained for. The doctor’s house was somewhere in the boondocks and was reminiscent of the Disney’s Haunted Mansion from the outside. Although Ben was nice to look at, when she ran into him (literally), that niceness seemed only skin deep. He dismissed her as too young without consideration. However, due to his rampaging hounds vandalizing her car while she was in the house, he was stuck with her, at least for a few days. From there on, Jess finds that, although the house is much nicer inside, it has more in common the Haunted Mansion than she could ever have expected.
Through the course of book, doubts about what really happened to Ben’s wife arise, augmented by the arrival of his beautiful-but-ominous sisters-in-laws. With a tale from 50 years past interweaving (in more ways than one) with the present, a suddenly hot and just as quickly cold relationship with the doctor, an autistic child who has strange interludes of normality and abnormality, and some very close calls from a threatening house, Jess is not sure what is going on or who to trust. But she is determined to find out.
However, this is only the first part of the story, so don’t expect the resolution. The cliff-hanger ending leaves you anxiously waiting for the conclusion. It does give you a chance to come up with your own theories about the death of Ben’s wife, his daughter’s real malady, why his strange and eerie sister-in-laws have chosen that moment to visit and the link between the black family who once lived nearby and the present situation. I’m sure all will be revealed in the next book, so hang in there.

Jess really wants this job. Her friend thinks she's perfect for it because Jess loves kids. Being a nanny was fun for her and she knew she could convince Dr. Arnold to hire a young woman vs an old one. The fact it was Friday the 13th didn't matter to Jess.
Ben was still mourning his wife's passing. It had been a long, difficult year for him and his four-year-old daughter. A nanny was just what they needed to move on with life and for Ben to concentrate on his veterinary business.
The only issue is can they both survive his wife's sisters.

This is a touching story of love and loss. It will definitely pull those heart strings and tears. It's unique in the background as well. One would not normally consider the issues contained in the story. I'm sure they happen often though. The characters are well defined and the writing okay.

I did find issues though. The book reads slow. I think part of that is because of the order of the plot. I would like to have seen the prologue or first chapter telling the back story. When a chapter pops up that suddenly introduces Marigold and Daisy, you are left to guess what's going on. I would also have liked that same prologue or first chapter to include what happened to Amber at birth. I think it would already set the thoughts flowing. It would also make the story tighter. More could have been included about Ben in those areas too. It just felt choppy as I read it and let the reader get lost.

I gave this one 3 cheers out of 5 because of the issues above. ~Copy of book provided by author and I voluntarily reviewed it.

Jessica James needs a job, and her quest takes her on Friday the thirteenth to a gothic, seemingly haunted mansion in the country. Dr. Ben Howard, a veterinarian who is the father of a four-year-old autistic daughter, needs a nanny for his child. The problem is, he requires an older, mature woman for the position and Jessica is so young he turns her down on the spot.

Actually, there are many other problems in this wonderfully engaging and suspenseful paranormal romance, beginning with the fact that Jessica can’t even leave the house! Also, there are great characters, some likeable, some less so; some honorable, some tinged by evil, such as Millicent, the twin sister of Arnold’s possibly dead wife. I love Edith, the aged housekeeper who tells Jessica when they meet, “You will never leave again”, and Daemon, the psychic who can commune not only with the present but the past and see deeply into the mystic nature of things. Perhaps the best character is Weltevredren, the creepy house itself with its shadowed hallways and lurking traps. Watch out for that chandelier!

Goodbye, My Love presents the reader with steamy romance and a lot of tantalizing mysteries and secrets. Not all of them are answered, but enough are to keep the reader eagerly turning the pages and looking forward to the sequel. In PS: I Love You, the stories of Ben and Jess, Jamin and Daisy will continue, hopefully for the better.

Goodbye My Love By Maggie Tideswell

Set in South Africa this well written paranormal romance is part romance, part mystery and part paranormal with a side dose of creepy. Jessica arrives for a job interview with Dr. Ben Howard, a country veterinarian. She’s late. He’s taken off his shirt for the day. He seems to run around without his shirt much of the time, giving Jessica heart palpitations.

Aside from shirtless men, the story includes a house with a mind of its own, things that go bump in the night, and the problem of nothing being what it seems. Who or what is Edith, the housekeeper? Why did the dogs eat the inside of Jessica’s car? Is it all explainable circumstances, or are outside forces pushing Jessica where they want her to be?

Falling in love with Ben is disturbing enough for Jessica, but she begins having visions about a young woman named Daisy, living sixty years in the past. Who’s Daisy? Will Daisy marry the love of her life?

The action heats up when Ben’s creepy sisters-in-law arrive on the one year anniversary of his wife’s death. Jessica is faced with trying to figure out what is going on with them. Will they harm her? They don’t seem to like her. Why did Millicent bring a psychic with her?

This is one of those books that will keep you up turning pages until way after bedtime, then you will be a teensy bit afraid to turn out the lights when you finally do go to bed.

GOODBYE, MY LOVE is an engaging introduction to the paranormal world of mystery and romance that Maggie Tideswell creates in her new Roxanne’s Ghost Saga series. In this first book we meet Jess, the young woman who answers Dr. Ben Arnold’s ad for a nanny for his daughter. She’s not the older woman Ben wants but a series of intervening events, a housekeeper with too many secrets and a house that often feels very much alive, keeps him from sending her away.

Nothing is what it seems except for the intense attraction Jess experiences when she’s with Ben, but the man is haunted by the past. He has a hard time keeping his hands off the nanny but he has enough on his plate with his daughter who needs more help than he can give her. Is she really autistic or is something else going on? Where is his wife and who is the woman Jess sees in her visions? What is her connection to Ben and his daughter?

Add in Ben’s dead wife’s three sisters who are determined to prove she’s very much alive, an odd psychic, and a love that won’t be denied, and you’ve got a rich story with a lot of complications that are fun to unwind. I really enjoyed this first installment of Jess and Ben’s story. I can’t wait to see what happens to them in the rest of the series.

Jess gets a line on a job as a nanny, but when she gets to the interview things go wrong. Ben, decides that she isn't old enough to care for his autistic daughter. The truth is that he is attracted to Jess and hopes to deny that by not hiring her. The death of his wife, Roxanne, is holding him back. Jess finds things strange at this house and when the housekeeper predicts she will not leave and then it comes to pass, things just continue to get stranger. She starts to have visions of the past and bit by bit the pieces begin to fall into place.

I have to say this book is very enthralling. From the first page, it is deeply mysterious and hard to put down. The attraction between Ben and Jess is easy to see and the strangeness that surrounds this family is very interesting. This book is like two stories the present, and past, coming together in a most mysterious way. This story was intriguing and full of the paranormal, romance, and mystery. I never knew what to expect.

This book was written very well. I really enjoyed it and hope to read more soon.

I loved this book. I was hooked on the theme from the start. A handsome widower- a veterinarian doctor- hires a nanny to care for his autistic daughter. The chemistry was SIZZLING hot between Jess and Dr. Ben. The twists and turns and ghostly paranormal parts of this book kept me up late into the night to finish.

Just when this story gets going, it suddenly ended! I was enjoying it, but apparently, this is one of those 'no ending' books. I'd be interested in the next one, but I'm afraid it probably has no ending either. The characters are interesting and the book is pretty creepy, but at least resolve SOMETHING before just stopping writing it.

A very intriguing mystery and a steaming hot romance! The rugged and beautiful South African setting lends so well to the story of a love lost, a love never requited, and new lovers uniting.

The plot was interesting. I tend to prefer clean romance though, so I wasn't thrilled with everything in the book, but it was pretty interesting.

Jess is a nanny in Cape Town and when she is sent to the country the last thing she expects to run into is a gorgeous veterinarian but that’s exactly what she does run into him and lands right on top of him. Ben is a single father he loss his wife Roxanne a year ago he has an autistic daughter named Amanda. He wanted an older nanny but when Jessica cannot leave due to car trouble he tells her to stay and he will fix her car the next day later on however when Roxanne‘s twin sister millicent showed up with a guy named Damon Ben doesn’t know what to make a bit and Millicent isn’t happy to see Jess there. She’s claiming Roxanne isn’t dead and says if she would be she would’ve felt it and Damon is the psychic who’s going to find out where Roxanne is and bring her home. this only brings up more grief for Ben and adds to the chaos in a house that Jess is learning is full of strange things including a talking bed. It doesn’t help when Jess throw herself at Ben which is totally out of character for her but it seems she isn’t the only one with the crush. There was lots of strange things happening in the house including the maid Ethel who may or may not be a witch. The author has some very good book and I was sad to see this ends and the cliffhanger but I will definitely be looking for the end of it because OMG it is strange weird and not your every day romance I did wish it would’ve been the whole story because I almost feel cheated but will definitely be looking for the rest of it. I’m only giving it three stars because I feel like it wasn’t a complete story. Please forgive any mistakes as I am blind and dictate my review.

I enjoyed the characters and plot of this story, however you don't really get to know them clearly. There. Is no answer to your questions and Jess feels the same way. The house seems to be haunted but nobody answers her questions. Ben wants her but doesn't feel comfortable as he loves his wife, but she has been gone for a year and presumed dead. This ends in a cliff hanger so we have to wait for the next book.
