Slender. Angry. (Part) Asian.

Yeah, that about sums me up.

Hi. I’m Cole. Xen. Whatever you want to call me; both are true, and both are lies. My pen names are multitudes, my nicknames legion. Tall, bi/queer, introverted author of a brown-ish persuasion made up of various flavors of Black, Asian, and Native American. I’m cuter than Hello Kitty, more bitter than the blackest coffee, and able to trip over cats in a single half-asleep lurch; I’m what happens when a Broody Antihero and a Manic Pixie Dream Boy fight to the death, and someone builds a person from the scraps left behind. Beardless, I look like the uke in every yaoi manga in existence; bearded or not, I sound like Barry White. About half my time is spent as a corporate writer, and the other half riding a train of WTFery that sometimes results in a finished book. Romance, erotica, sci-fi, horror, paranormal; LGBTQIA and cishet; diverse settings and diverse characters from a diverse author.

Sometimes I shout about things on the internet. Usually intersectional feminism and marginalized voices, and whomever’s punching down in those directions today. Sometimes human sociology, the psychology of sex and gender, and my own gender non-conforming arse (he/him, by the way). Sometimes I get really mad at Stephen Hawking and nerd out all over the place about hairy black holes, and believe it or not, that’s not a terrible pun or even worse innuendo.

That’s it. I’m a huge dork. My humor’s so dry it could empty oceans. I’m a native Southerner from the New Orleans area with zero Southern accent; I’m a mess of multi-ethnic, multi-cultural, multi-lingual influences; I have two cats. I wake up at daft hours of the morning to go running. I crochet terrible, lumpy things that never really turn into anything. I’m older than you think I look. I’m much more shy than my fury makes me sound (signifying gods only know what, but probably nothing). Recently I decided, at 36, that I needed to restart my life and move cross-country, so I tossed 75% of my possessions in the trash and randomly trucked it to Seattle. I’m in love with books and music and technology, and they war with each other for dominance and sometimes come together in a beautiful confluence. Most of the physical books I own are strange, obscure, out of print, overseas imports, or any combination of the four. Most of the physical books I used to own were destroyed in Hurricane Katrina, and have been replaced with the infinite library on my Nook. My wallet has a dangerous attraction to anything with pages; it flirts and teases and gives its all, until there’s nothing left but emptiness and ruin.

There will always be things you don’t know, and I won’t tell.

But ask me late at night over live music in a seedy bar, and you might just get an honest answer.

Season 1, 13 episodes done!

description

Loved it! What a rollercoaster!! The finale delivered big time. It was fast paced, emotional and very, very entertaining.

I don't know how Cole does it! but the vodoo shit is working. 13 books and no disappointments. Steady from book 1 and it grows with each episode. I believe the TV Show format makes it work.

Mal and Seong- Jae have become one my favorite couples and characters. The character growth is amazing. By the time we get to book 13, the characters are not the same as we met them in book 1. As it should be.

I loved the diversity and Inclusion. Cole tried to represent the minority group that are rarely seen in MM books.

description

The mysteries were engaging too. Some were gross, some were ok. The investigation part kept me glued till the end. Mysteries are my jam and this series is right up my alley. So entertaining.

The relationship is the best part of this whole season. I was invested in Mal and Seong - Jae from day 1, and they did not disappoint. Their relationship felt natural, nothing forced , just two opposite guys trying to make it work. It did work. GAAAAAHH! The sex scenes are so hot, fire! Mal and SJ know how to dish out the hotness. The Intimacy, the little things, like touching, talking, cooking, solving the cases together. GAAAAHH!! So precious.

Sila... UGH!!!!

Bring on season 2

“Ring around the rosey,” he whispered. “Pocket full of posies.”
Ashes, ashes.
We all.
Fall.
Down.

If he was to die, he would die with the taste of his love on his lips.

The Hatter’s Game, part II, is the explosive, action-packed conclusion of the first season. It’s not a secret that Criminal Intentions is one of my best findings this year, so I decided to make a small overview of the season for all of you who had not read it yet.

Although the mysteries and successive cases Seong-Jae and Malcolm try to solve are the things that makes the series so addictive, I think the romance is the actual center of the story. Some cases are really easy to see coming, so I needed a moment to understand it was not really about the mystery, but how it affected the characters and their relationship. Of course, there is a balance between mind-blowing cases like the first one, and others more weak that are meant to serve as a critic, or help the character's development.

However, the romance was ✨PERFECTION✨. I loved every single time they smiled or said something cute to each other, sighed when things started to happen and enjoyed the slow -slowest- slow burn like a small girl with a new book. While some cases left me wanting more, I wouldn’t change a single thing about the romance. Cole McCade’s writing makes you feel the love between the characters in a way I haven’t seen before -which leaves me a bit worried about going back reading other authors because yes, Cole’s style is that good. I still can’t believe how underrated he is because his way of expressing love through words is breathtaking.

It helps that Seong-Jae and Malcolm made one of the most beautiful couple ever. I love when you can actually see how the couple click when they talk, when they are together, and it’s not all about lust. Malcolm hides his demons behind a bright smile and always takes care of everyone he loves, forgetting himself in the process. Serious, cold and shy, Seong-Jae collides with sunshine Malcolm, and the result is a startling supernova that makes your hair stand on end.

You are the thing that gives me life. The life force that makes my heart beat.

But it’s not only about the dynamic duo, there are a lot of great side characters who are slowly introduced in the story. While the series avances, they start to have more and more importance, as you can see the way they think, their problems and desires. You end up caring about them, wanting to know what happens with their lives, and it makes the series a lot richer and more interesting.

Least but not least: this series is one of the most addictive things I’ve ever read. While I think book two is the weakest in the whole series, the first and the third are solidly good, and from the third everything goes better and better and you can’t stop reading. The books are a lot shorter than my usual reads -some of them are almost novellas-, but it worked because they always leave you wanting more.

Overall, I had a lot of fun reading this series. They are the kind of books that make you forget about life, relax, laugh and fangirl. The romance, especially because of the beautiful writing, is really worth a try if you enjoy MM romance and slow burn. I was scared about how many books there were, and convinced I was going to be bored in the middle of the season - ha, look at me now. While I loved the books in the middle a bit more because they are more focused on romance, while the last ones are more action-packed, the progression is really good and I can’t see how I could ever get tired of them -and that is saying a lot coming from a girl who never finishes TV series because she always gets bored in the middle :)

Getting the last two books in this season sooner than expected was the perfect early birthday present for me, although I have to admit that I doubted at times here I would be alive to see that day.  I just knew that this grand finale of Season #1 would stretch me to the limit - well, not only me, obviously - , but I also knew that now - a pounding heart, ten fingernails bitten to the quick and an added bunch of grey hair later - this sort of twisted scavenger hunt with Mal and Seong-Jae's lives on the line would be worth any hyperventilation and looming heart attack.

Remember what I said in my review for book #9 when I compared it to the last minutes of the Titanic? THAT WAS MEANT METAPHORICALLY, DAMMIT, NOT LITERALLY!!!! Sometimes I'm scared of myself... LOL. And that's the only hint you'll get from me... Or anything at all, for that matter. ;-) Oh, one more thing... I have no bloody clue what to make of the last chapter, but I guess we'll find out in a few months...

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, I love Cole McCade’s writing but of all his books/series, Criminal Intentions has been something else: he has created pure crack and without a whimper in sight, he sends off this season with no shortage of bangs.

description A threshold had been crossed, and there was no turning back.”

Edge-of-your-seat reading, the intensity of this finale was incredible. All hell has broken loose in Baltimore, tensions are running sky high and it’s not just Seong-Jae and Mal battling for survival as every character we’ve come to love and hate has their place in tying together every connecting thread of the series.

description

Both parts of The Hatter’s Game put me through the ringer in every way possible—my heart was bruised and battered and pieced back together again and I wouldn’t have wanted it any other way. From Mal and Seong-Jae’s relationship and the cases they’ve been presented, to the secondary characters and their intertwining stories (especially Anjulie, she is bloody a-ma-zing), this series has been perfection and is an absolute must-read.

description Line up the dominos…and they all fall into place.”

Season one, finished.

This is the story of two detectives who are paired to solve a case, two detectives who, as you read the episodes, you get to know the nature of their characters in the difficult decisions they make, in the steps they take when a friend needs one hand, in their mistakes and successes.
These characters are a delight, not just the main ones, as the episodes go by you become fond of many more.
Mal and Seong-Jae's love story is not told in the first books, first they become partners, support each other, watch each other's back, admire each other and the body language between the two...🔥🔥🔥.
Yes, I suffered, but it's worth it!!
Just read this:

"You never stopped.” Silver and iron hair tumbled down over Seong-Jae, as Malcolm bent to rest their temples together, the tips of their noses barely touching. “You never stopped being the breath that gives me life.”

“…and…and you are mine.”

The writing style is beautiful. Cole makes you feel so many emotions, and the cases are raw, explicit, real, both when the crime occurs, as well as the follow-up to find the person responsible, with the suspects or affected relatives.
Every episode got me hooked, and this one is no exception. I was on the edge of my seat the whole time. I hadn't liked a series like this in a long time. It made me cry, laugh, scream, curse, hate and love. I sank with them. And I could always stay there.
I highly recommend this series!!!
I'm forcing myself to take a breath, the keyword is forcing🤣.

3.25 “Are you still my partner?” “I am still everything and anything you wish me to be” Stars

Thoughts:

Season one of the series has come to an end. However our story with Malcolm and Seong-Jae will still continue. With a cliffhanger to wrap it all, there is a lot more in store for our boys in season two.

Overall book thirteen is sadly my least favorite. The climax didn’t hit the way I wished it would, and I was not enticed by the plot line resolution. There is a lot I wish would have happened in this finale. All of that aside, Malcolm and Seong-Jae never leave me disappointed. We still received a lot of beautiful moments between the two of them. I just needed more oomph.

I always want to leave the review with the positives, so here is the good we do get:
-banter even while captured and the possibility of death hanging in the balance (these fools)
-mission priority one: got to save my boo!
-villain getting put in his place ()
-side character ships fully setting sail!
-touches of angst
-THE BIG ‘I LOVE YOU’ MOMENT WE HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR!
-rip your heart from your chest beautiful lines
-Mal and SJ always being our Mal and SJ

Yes, I wished some things would have been different, but I still love this series, our boys and the writing so much that I won’t be going anywhere!

A massive thank you as always to my br bestie, lila, for introducing me to this, and for putting up with all my spam messages. There is so much more to come hehe! Can’t wait to continue with season 2!!!

Quotes: *SPOILERS GALORE IN THE QUOTES!*

I need you to believe me. No one else ever has.”

“He’s perfect the way he is.“

“Seong-Jae!” he cried again. “Are you all right?” “Define ‘all right,’” drifted dryly from the other room, and Malcolm let out a choked laugh that practically abraded his throat raw. “If you’re being a smartass, you’re fine.” “Again,” Seong-Jae retorted flatly, “define ‘fine.’”

“If you think I am leaving you, Malcolm Khalaji, you do not know me at all.”

“Wait for me, Malcolm,” Seong-Jae promised softly. “Wait for me…and I will come for you.”

Even if he had to break himself from head to toe… He would make sure Malcom lived.

“I love you,” Malcolm said. Every word sounded like a drop of heart’s blood, torn out of him and bleeding—or maybe torn out of Seong-Jae, when he felt like his heart was collapsing. “I need you to know that. I need you to know I fucking love you so much, and I just—I just—” “Shut the fuck up,” Seong-Jae choked out. His eyes stung, his breaths coming labored and fast. “Do not dare. Do not dare say that to me just because you think you will die. I will fucking kill you myself.” “It’s true, though,” came through softly. “I love you. I love you, Seong-Jae.”

If he was to die, he would die with the taste of his love on his lips.

“Just…stay with me.”

“Fuck, Seong-Jae…you saved my life.” “And then you saved mine.”

That was what loving someone meant, he realized. Letting them into all the places that hurt the most. And trusting them to handle those fragile things with utmost care, nonetheless.

“I am still…omr to you? Omr-am?” “You never stopped. You never stopped being the breath that gives me life.” “…and…and you are mine.”

1 Seong-Jae
2 Malcolm
3 Anjulie
4 Sade
5 Huang
6 Gabi
7 Cara
8 Seong-ja
9 pais de Malcolm
10 Camaro do Malcolm 🤣

Personagem mais detestável

1 SILA.

Since it worked out that I didn't get to read part 1 til this had released too, I raced to read this right after I finshed the first part. I finished at 1 am......with my alarm set for 4:45 am for work. I'm sure it surprises no one that I overslept.

WORTH IT!!!!

I'm seriously surprised that I survived this last episode. I know damn well there was quite a long period of time that I forgot to breathe! Everything I feared happened. The biggest reason it didn't work like it was supposed to is because Sila didn't know Seong-Jae like he thought he did, and thank God for that. Defeated by his own arrogance, and I was so there for that. *evil grin*

The place where Mal & Seong-Jae end up together is so damn good. *melts* It made me happy, after everything they've gone through. They still have some things to work on but as long as they have each other, I think they'll make it. They absolutely deserve to. *glares at Cole McCade. I'm watching you, buddy*

The baddie for next season is genuinely creepy, so I'm pretty sure it's going to be even more edge-of-my-seat then, because there's no rhyme or reason to madness. I ended this episode with one real fear. We shall see what happens.

With my love of crime drama and cop romances, I've read a lot of them. But I honestly can't think of one to top this one. *though Seven of Spades might be a dead tie* If you haven't picked this series up yet, do it!!!

5 stars (mainly) for my loves, Mal and SJ. 🤍

s1 was so addictive, but it honestly helped that each books were quite short that it was pretty easy to binge quickly (while leaving you wanting more once a book ends, at least in my case) and i’ve said this a million times but Mal and SJ’s relationship was the highlight for me. they were so beautiful together and the dynamic was chefs kiss. however, i enjoyed the cases as well and seeing them work as a team to solve each one. i guess i shouldn’t have been surprised that . the side characters were pretty amazing too. i feel like they grow on you with each episode—Cara, Sade, Anju, Gabi, Seongja (even tho she only appeared in one episode, i miss her 🥺). i love all of them and what they brought to the story, as well as their interactions with both mcs.

ok but why did

⋰⋱⋰⋱⋰⋱*I Like Main Relationship*⋰⋱⋰⋱⋰⋱

So I have now finished season one. That went fast. Guess I'm quite the quick reader. I'm a little pissed that and that it seems like but at least our main couple took another step closer to each other. Overall, I like books that are high in stakes when it comes to the main characters. It makes my heart pump faster, though with this one I just felt it a little in my chest. Also the series is a bit predictable... That said, I will read season two as well. I've come this far, so why quit now? Only thing I truly hate? That the author just started releasing season three. Fuck.

The Characters:
The list is a bit long so I've put it in a spoilers tag.

Quick basic facts:
Genre: - (Adult) Contemporary Romance (M/M).
Series: - Series, Book Thirteen.
Love triangle? -
Cheating? -
HEA? -
Favorite character? - Malcolm ‘Mal’ Khalaji.
Would I read more by this author/or of series? - Yes, I think so.
Would I recommend this book/series? - Unsure.
Will I read this again in the future? - Unsure...
Rating - 3 stars.

Ok, I have completed 'Season 1', and I'm gonna take a break and then come back to 'Season 2'.

I'm very much liking these books. So glad Jan's comments pushed me into it.

The romance is lovely, and most of the cases are very enjoyable to help solve.

Overall, I'm satisfied with the HFN, but very dissatisfied with the Sila storyline. Ugh. But I'm sure it'll get resolved in the end, as there's so much more to unfold.

Mind. Blown! No other way to sum up how I feel at the end of this book and season one. McCade is truly an exceptional writer and storyteller, he has mastered the craft of reeling you in and not letting go, not that I want him to let go.

This series so far has found me my all time favourite MM couple, my most hated character - I'm looking at you Sila, and sub characters that actually add so much to the story.

Out of 13 books, 12 were 5 star reads and one just missed the 5 stars because Seong-Jae was being a tool. That is some truly stellar writing, this author is a genius!

And so, we come to the end of the line, for the moment. Was it worth the ride? Indeed it was! But it was a rocky road for most of the way. And even now, it is not over, this journey ... the past still threatens ...
Sila

I have an acronym for Sila:

Shitty
Imputent
Little
Arsehole!

Suits the little prick, doesn't it?

He was, after all, the wind.
And the wind could not be stopped.

I had said at the end of the previous episode that I had a favourite ... OK, I was changing my mind while reading this one ... how could my heart not bleed for him? For both of them.

"I think it was like a game ... a puppet show."

I love Captain Anjulie Zarate y Salazar.
"Fucking hell. Shit."
Mother fuck.

Anjulie sat on the front fender of her Audi and let the rain wash over her in the near-empty streets, closing her eyes and tilting her head back to the black night sky ...

... the world cracked like shattering glass, splintering into blind panes of black and white.

"Wait for me ... wait for me ...
and I will come for you."

I don't know if I am going to start Season Two right away. I want to but each episode is quite draining and at least with Season One, I was able to dive into the next book straight away, whereas Season Two is not finished yet ...

I listened to this song a few times while I was reading the book ... It has absolutely nothing to do with the book but, it just sort of resonated with me while I was reading it... plus it is a great song, at least I think so!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EDL5Q...

DEEPER DOWN THE RABBIT HOLE
(Jack Lukeman)

"I'm still stood here wonderin', oh, if I should follow you ...
Deeper down the rabbit hole,
Deeper down the rabbit hole,
Deeper down the rabbit hole we go again ...
Deeper down the rabbit hole,
Deeper down the rabbit hole,
Deeper down the rabbit hole we go again ...

Kingfishers and Dragonflies floating through the air ...
Snails kiss upon the cherry pip, the ladybirds just stare.
How come that you always go where no-one ever's been,
Deep down below the mushrooms and the fuschia trees ..."

Disclaimer - I just jotted down the lyrics as I heard them as I literally couldn't find them anywhere online!

I know, I know. The review is as vague as fuck, but, hey, you will just have to read it yourselves to get to know these guys ... and hope they get their HEA. 'Cos if they don't, I will be as "mad as a hatter"!!

So, how was my read-reading journey? Totally and completely worth it. I really really really enjoyed revisiting Malcolm and Seong-Jae. I'm glad I decided to reread season I before jumping into season II. Moreover, it was just really nice revisiting my two favorite detectives. This season was filled with a ton of ups and downs and the ride might have been bumpy as hell, but… it was really and truly worth it.

❝Go fuck yourself, you creepy little piece of shit,❞ Malcolm flung back.

Wow!!! I cannot believe I finally made it to the end of Criminal Intentions: Season One.I remember when I first started the first book in the series The Cardigans and realized that there were 13 books in season one! Now here I am! Finished with The Hatter's Game: Part II! It has been a wild awesome ride! And I am so glad that I decided to take a chance and start reading this series!

I am also in complete awe of Cole McCade Not only did he follow a crazy release schedule that wows and intimidates me but he also never lost the essences of who his characters are! I never once picked a book from this first season and thought 'hmmmm that doesn't seem in character for Seong-Jae or Malcolm'. Thank you Mr. McCade for writing such a great series!

Here are some of my favorite quotes from The Hatter's Game: Part II! Enjoy ;)

“If you say something else fatalistic, I will break this wall down just so I can choke you.”

“It’s true, though,” came through softly. “I love you. I love you, Seong-Jae.”

If he was to die, he would die with the taste of his love on his lips.

“May…may I touch you again?” Malcolm asked tentatively, only for Seong-Jae to nearly choke on his own longing, a hitching sound in the back of his throat, his chest knotting, his eyes burning. “Please.”

That was what loving someone meant, he realized. Letting them into all the places that hurt the most. And trusting them to handle those fragile things with utmost care, nonetheless.

“You never stopped being the breath that gives me life.” “…and…and you are mine.”

What did I love about Criminal Intentions: Season One?

I'd have to say my favorite thing about Criminal Intentions: Season One has been the characters! McCade did such a great job creating not just two compelling leads but also creating a great group of side characters. I not only loved reading about Malcolm and Seong-Jae but, I also was so invested in Sade, Jason, Anjulie, and Gabi! The cases were solid as well and there are a few that I honestly loved reading about and watching Mal and Seong-Jae figure out!

So if you're even remotely thinking about reading Criminal Intentions: Season One mother freaking do it! Don't be intimidated by the amount of books in this first season! They really fly by! Cole McCade has really crafted an amazing story and I highly recommend it to everyone!

Well I am off to go read the first book in the next season!!! Later ;)

You can never touch me again. You will never touch him. Not so long as he is mine. And he will always, always…be mine.

I have no words to describe how fantabulous this was. I literally couldn't put it down! It was such a rush to follow Seong-Jae while he was looking for Malcolm. And finally the mystery of Sila was uncovered. With every word Seong-Jae's past was reconstructed, and the picture of a vulnerable young man, so taken by an innocent beautiful face that housed malicious vindictive monster, emerged. It kept getting more intense, the ingenious planning and sheer volume of machinations were astounding. I felt revulsion and admiration at the same time - it takes meticulousness, determination and a lot patience to achieve something like this but at the same time the unstable vicious nature to want to pursue it.

There were moments I was scared for both Mal and Seong-Jae. It felt like the end was so close but they made it out alive, barely. The City of Baltimore was on fire but miraculously the worst of it was contained. So many lives hang in the balance: Mal and Seong-Jae, Anjulie and Gabi, Sade and Min Zhe... all of them are on the precipice to either bliss or unhappiness.

Finally Malcolm and Seong-Jae open up about their feelings. It's so tender and just beautiful, and when Seong-Jae is so vulnerable yet he trusts Malcolm with his heart at last... my breath hitched more than once. It was so touching that for a moment I felt I was intruding in on their private moment. I loved it! It was everything I hoped for and more. The ending is a promise of happiness, angst and even pain to come. One would hope that the villains are slain, and domestic bliss will follow. And yet, there are more players and even higher stakes, and Sila has an ace up his sleeve. Splendid finale! I highly recommend the entire series!!! Copy received for my honest and unbiased review

“I’d die a thousand deaths to hear you call me that one more time,”
[.....]
“…I hope you never have to.”

When I started this series, I was looking for a way to get me out if the cycle of rereading Cut & Run again and again. And I'm glad to say, that even though Ty Zane still holds my heart, Mal & SJ came very close to them. I've spend a good amount of my last few months with them and I'd say the middle books which got a bit boring were all worth for the finale. The feelings, the writing, the connections, the doubts, fears and love. Everything was so good.

Buddy read with Banseh. It's been such a wonderful ride. Hope we have more of this coming.

Okay, quick story time: At midnight, I went to get this off KU and then it said "Sorry, there's been an error! Rest assured we are trying everything we can to fix it blah blah blahhh" and I was like "WHAT" and so I went back, tried again. Exited Amazon and clicked again, tried again. It did it again. I did this several times and it wasn't working. I even went like "are you fucking kidding me?!" Then I was just like "fuck it, I love this series, I can pay 3 bucks for the season finale" so I did, it - of course - worked, and I got this on my computer to read.

WHEW. It's almost like getting this book was a preview of how I was going to feel reading this throughout most of it - as in stressed as fuck.

Malcom is missing, Seong-Jae is freaking out but has to get it together to get to Malcom as fast as he can, Sila is slinking around being a creepy fucker, and Anjulie is trying to keep things from delving into complete chaos.

The protests are still going on, and Sila has a plan up his sleeve to turn them into actual riots - fire in the streets and everything. He has Malcolm tied to a chair on a boat, Seong-Jae can barely stand still long enough for Sade to do their magic to find Malcom.

But then...of course they can't die and we know this, because we still got two seasons to go and this is Malcom and Seong-Jae! Our main characters! Who love each other beyond anything they've ever felt before.

Sila doesn't know anything about love or empathy or kindness or compassion, as all psychopaths are, so he underestimates how powerful love can be and that's all I'm gonna say on that!

Also! Maybe it's because the Golden Ratio Killer is a different kind of scary psychopath, but I actually found him creepier then Sila. He seemed out of his mind, like literally in his own world and Sila at least was able to act normal. This guy doesn't seem like he can even pretend to act normal and that is frightening in it's own way - even though Sila being able to put on masks is creepy as fuck in another way.

Ah! Just!

But also! Anjuile! Gabrielle! Ah! Feels, all around, you guys. I loved this finale, even if it wasn't Malcom and Seong-Jae together a lot like I love most. Because they were together in their own way, and I don't want to spoil too much, but we do get to see them together and what we get? I LOVED. These two...head over heels....*happy sigh* I loVE IT!

I don't know what I can say other than if TV shows were more like this, our TV shows would be so much better.

Two massive, massive thumbs up from me! What a way to end the season! Now I can't wait for season 2, although I dunno how I'm supposed to wait 4 to 8 months, depending, to get episodes. But, if it means Mr. McCade isn't rushing and we get more episodes in a quicker period - maybe - then I'll take it.

For now I will drown myself in this series and re-read my fave parts if I have to get my Malcom/Seong-Jae fix while I wait for more ;)

That’s a wrap on season one ✌🏼✔️

The number of books in the series was a bit daunting at first since I tend to shy away from series with multiple books about the same couple but after reading so many good reviews and urging from my friend @MarianR , I decided to read it and I’m so happy I did. Criminal Intentions is really unlike any other series I’ve ever read, it’s so unique and a perfect blend of crime and romance.

Each book Seong-Jae and Malcolm slowly build the foundation of their relationship. This slower pace made their love feel so real and as a reader, I just wanted to read more and more! Cole McCade is an amazing writer that really transport you into the story. The pain, love and fear of the characters truly becomes your own.

“That was what loving someone meant, he realized. Letting them into all the places that hurt the most. And trusting them to handle those fragile things with utmost care, nonetheless”

The last book really gave me ALL the feels. I will never recover from their use of Om-ran 😭🥺😭💕

I’m excited to start the next season!! 10/10 would recommend the series, so worth reading :)

Soooooo - here’s to the big finale.
And a big finale it was!

I devoured the last episode in this epic series so fast, I’m sure my kindle started overheating from the speed I turned the pages.

Everything comes to a head.
And all the main protagonists get some kind of ‘closure’.
When I say ‘some kind’ and put ‘closure’ under inverted commas, I mean that with this being season 1, there are obviously some things (in the plot and the character and relationship development) left open for these people to deal with later, buuuut …

… do not fret on one account.

Malcolm and Seong-Jae do move forward together in a big way.
You can imagine that Seong-Jae doesn’t take Malcolm’s abduction by Sila very lightly. (understatement of the year!) The tension, the suspense, the fight for survival, the impossibility of the situation both men eventually find themselves in – my vision probably got a bit blurry from flying over the pages. And my heart near jumped out of my throat on a couple of occasions.

It is virtually impossible to discuss this in depth without spoiling anything.
All I can tell you is this –

.) Malcolm and Seong-Jae turned me inside out.
.) I can’t wait to see how the situation between Anjulie and Gabi is going to develop.
.) Min Zhe remains a mystery more than ever.
.) Sade so deserves to be happy!

And I will leave you with a teaser, not telling who said this. Can you guess?

You will never touch him.
Not so long as he is mine.
And he will always, always … be mine.

Needless to say that I’m holding my breath for season 2.
Cole McCade has created two epic, absolutely brilliant characters here, I deeply care about. And I’m looking forward to more already.

In the meantime I'm going to go back now and read this very slowly....

5 stars for the finale! 🤯
the whole season was truly a pleasure to read. what a rollercoaster of emotions. great writing, deep and well developed characters that you can’t help but root for, lots of diversity. i was stressed the hell out the whole time reading the last two episodes lmao💀

malcolm and seong-jae have very quickly earned a place in the list of my favourite characters ever. both separately and together. their relationship is rocky to say the least and i’m sure they’ll have to deal with lots of shit before they get their eventual HEA, but i know that their love for each other can truly overcome anything (the lil asshole sila & his damn bunny included).

i’m beyong happy i started this series. haven’t felt so strongly about a partnership since ty & zane from the cut & run series and if you know me you know that’s saying A LOT🤭

kudos to cole mccade for a truly incredible series. i’m on to season 2 now, fellas!🤠

Welcome to 'Notes from my Phone Because the Wifi Was Down All Night - Part 2'.

Hmm. Well we are at the (sorta) end of season one and I have very conflicted thoughts. Sila is just too.. accomplished, I think. He did all that while working a full time job? You expect me to believe he was that manipulative with all those different people and situations successfully? I want to buy in but we have doubts, precious.

Also I regret to say I couldn't picture the boat thing very well so that scene lost some of the impact until the very end.

Subplot romance : we calleddd itttt. Who knows if it'll stick but I'm just impressed I saw that so early.

Not sure what the whole ending was though. That seemed a bit extra. Also side eyeing Huang a lot for his choices. Oh well, let's see how this plays out.

“I am still…omr-an to you?”
“You never stopped.” Silver and iron hair tumbled down over Seong-Jae, as Malcolm bent to rest their temples together, the tips of their noses barely touching. “You never stopped being the breath that gives me life.”

Holy shit. Its over! Its actually over.

Im feeling very numb rn and I can’t say if im satisfied.

No spoilers in this review but I’m just going to say that the big “secret” behind Seong-jae’s past was kind of a let-down. There was this huge build up throughout the entire series and I personally don’t think the ending tied everything together. They ended on a note where we have to continue on with the second season to get the answers that we want and its disappointing after sticking with them through 12 books!

I don’t regret reading this series at all because, above all it was fun and extremely fast paced. But the way the author wrote had me believing that Seong-jae had done something unspeakable in the past as opposed to him not doing anything and everyone around him not believing him. I think the “truth” was more personal and had more to do with his truth issues than anything to do with mystery aspect since we learn about his stalking ex.

But overall; this series will probably be one of my all-time-favorite-series and a perfect binge worthy read too. I highly recommend picking this one.

The series finale and it didn’t disappoint.

This had a bit of everything. It was a fabulous nonstop read.

Sila has Malcolm. Seong-Jae is determined to save him. But Sila has been busy and the city is in chaos.

It’s a race against time. Edge of seat stuff and it’s great.

Holy carp! Reading this episode, I was performing the equivalent of peeking through my fingers at a scary movie, picking up and then putting this back down, screaming “no, no, no”! The culmination of events described in book one took me on a rollercoaster of fearful anticipation and stunned disbelief. I do wish that Malcolm and Seong-Jae were given some more intimate time together but they do reach one milestone finally. Some questions are resolved around Seong-Jae and Sila’s connection but I did feel like it was an incomplete picture. Am I the only one that feels more than a hint of the preternatural around Sila? But even as some answers are found, more questions pop up for next season. This series is and has been, riveting, engaging and complex and I cannot wait for the next season. Unfortunately it will be a wait but Cole McCade maintained a breakneck pace in releasing an episode each month for season one without ever sacrificing the quality of his writing. I can only imagine what he’ll accomplish with added time!

A masterpiece! Everything I was hoping for the season finale. It did seem a bit far fetched that a single person managed to orchestrate all this. From the very first book my biggest question was

So yeah, it did seem a bit OTT but it covered everything, no plot holes in sight, everything came together beautifully, the romance was 100% there and there were also a few surprises.

Judging from the glimpse into season 2, the first season was just foreplay. I'm already creeped out.

Goddamn what a stressful book. Besides SJ & Mal (who are always my favorite part), I adored the atmosphere of this book. Never a dull moment and always something interesting happening, even when we were away from the main couple. Every single scene with SJ or Mal in this book tugged at my heartstrings, starting with SJ's frantic determination to find him. Cole McCade really showcased the yearning and love and vulnerability that he carefully established over 12 books. Stunningly written. Sila is the FUCKING worst but we already knew this. Also Anjulie and Gabi, my beloveds omgggg😭 that part hit harder than I expected, didn't realize how attached I'd gotten to them. Honestly all the side characters were left off in interesting places, which was really impressive. And the intro of a certain character at the end was intriguing...we'll see how that goes in season 2

My only gripe is that the pacing just felt a bit rushed to me...and considering how carefully plotted the series was before this and the fact that the previous 2 stories felt like filler books, it stood out more. Idk I feel like more page time could've been spent really building up to the climax/finale, both in this book and the last two. Anyway. Clearly not a huge critique, I still loved this. But it did hold me back from a full 5 stars

This series holds such a special place in my heart, as a romantic suspense series that meaningfully incorporates diversity and isn't shy about challenging cop culture. I'm just so glad I found it. Overall, this was a great ending to season one of this amazing series! Can't wait to get into season two and get even more Mal/SJ in my life

Wow, what a ride. I love this series.

At last, we can make a connection to every mystery case. Now I'm so glad that every secret has been revealed. I wanted it from the start. I loved how SJ and Mal fixed each situation without getting much hurt. I loved the minute where Mal said SJ to he loved him. It was a heartbreaking moment. I love them.

I hated when psychotic Sila wasn't dead. Sila was really horrifying. He was the cause of everything. I hated the fact that he was a genius, and he found every loophole in every situation. Now he is paired with a rabbit?? 😂

Nothing to say. This is a really addictive series. I want more of them, can't get enough. 🥺

The Hatter's Game should have been one book instead of two, so I'm gonna review the both of them in this one. They were so short I almost cried! But they were packed, looooved it!!

What a season finale! Everything got exposed, all the cards were on the table, love is on the table and can this guys get any cuter?! THEY'RE SO FLUFFY I'M GONNA DIE!!! AGH! 🥰❤

Important stuff:

- Silas made his move, finally! I'm still a little bit worried because he has too much power, I don't think in real life someone can move people the way he does, but, this is fiction so fuck it! And fuck you Silas. He didn't win, but he disturbed our guys enough and he is not in jail yet, or death, but the way things ended promised a bigger clusterfuck for season two.
- In the first part watching Malcolm and Seong Jae angry at each other and in pain hurt a lot, specially when the author described Mal's pain so well, I felt that. In the second part, reading Yoon's despair broke my heart. Like, the feelings in this last part where on fire!
- Seong Jae's strength blows my mind, the way he fought his cravings and Silas manipulation was powerful and painful at the same time. Jesus, so much pain!
- Huang bothers me, maybe because I don't understand him yet, but I'm thankful for what he did and that showed he's a good person at the end of the day. So I'm still wondering why?
- Gabi and Anjulie, I don't wanna go there, I really don't. I like Anjulie, I admire her and her drive, her strength and her everything. I don't like Gabi, she's fierce yes, but she has issues that are so last century. So I don't wanna go there and I won't.
- I need more Sten and parents and families.
- Also another bad guy appeared. I'm not ready for it!

I was thinking of taking a brake and then starting the second season, but I can't, I need my boys so I'll keep going But I'm just gonna take a moment to thank myself, for my commitment, because girl 13 books in a week or so, you on 🔥! You go gurl! You fire!

On to the next... Chao chao. 🥰❤
