Missing shoes, stolen paperclips and stalkers. Oh, what an afterlife!

Bridget finally gets her first assignment as an Independent Authority agent: The not-so-glamorous case of The Paperclip Theft. Regardless, she is determined to close the matter quickly and move on to something more challenging.

And then the dead dead body of the Afterlife Arrivals Commander topples out of the stationery cupboard.

Within hours she’s the front runner to replace him which places her neatly in the killer’s sights. She’s also the front runner in the pool of suspect who murdered him which unsurprisingly places her neatly in Detective Johnson’s sights.

With help from unexpected quarters and discovering some unsettling facts about the Independent Authority, Bridget has some big choices to make about her future… if she can dodge the killer and a prison sentence long enough to make them.

I was fourteen when I attempted to write my first novel. Half finished, riddled with spelling mistakes, grammatical errors and printed in pink ink, I gave it to my English teacher and asked her for feedback. A month later she handed it back to me and told me it was "good" without having read it.

How did I know she hadn't read it? The story was about an assassin for hire who disposed of her "kills" in her bathtub by dissolving their remains in sulphuric acid. I'm pretty sure if she had read it, one heck of a letter would have been sent home. I look back at this now and can see that the pink ink and poor spelling were the least of my problems.

With the lack of constructive criticism from my English teacher, I placed my novel writing on hold. I dallied mainly with typical teenage, angst-ridden poetry until several years later, on a romantic whim, I turned a boy I knew into a superhero, literarily (not literally) speaking. Because I'm super awesome, I included some of his friends and chronicled their superhero adventures as a birthday present to him.

My relationship with the superhero version of the boy lasted the completion of a dozen short stories. My relationship with the real life boy didn't. And I was writing pretty dang quick too!

There were a couple more plot twists but since they don't involve radioactive spiders, magical wardrobes or handsome Tolkien-esque elves they're not really worth talking about! So that's pretty much the yellow brick road to how I got here.

Bridget gets her first assignment for IA and of course being Bridget, she finds a dead body. This time along with Shawn, she needs to abound being tossed in jail for eternity by Officer Johnson, as suspects in the murder of the Arrivals Commander Death. Plus, who dared to steal Bridgit’s shoe!!!!!!!

This book is filled with the usual snark, witty banter. Sneaky are they or aren’t they interactions between Oz and Bridgit, so many red herrings you’re not sure who is friend or for. Bridgit is showing a lot of growth, she now considers the housemates a “family” and works with them rather than apart from them. Bridgit is still trying to find her niche in the Afterlife and has found that doing what’s right is not always black and white, but she’s going to give it her best try b

It's time for the Great Paperclip Theft!
Yeah, I like Bridget as a character and how she develops throughout the books.
Always a reliably funny read!

Does the end justify the means?

Another great read even if it left some questions unanswered. Like was Val part of it? A plot of murder and power that leads to unravelling a conspiracy to take charge of Arrivals. Although the characters were as good as ever I did notice that some seemed to have lost their edge a little such as Bridgit and Sabrina. Plus the end didn't tie up completely.
It all started with the Great Paperclip Thefts and ended with several dead dead bodies. Who would want to kill the Commander of Arrivals, two of the nominees and the Secretary? Why are they so intent on framing her for the murders? Why do they want control and who is the mastermind behind the scheme?

I normally adore Bridget Sway books and this one had a good story line. The characters amuse me, the author's sense of humor is right in line with mine. There are no quick answers, the characters grow and learn in every book. But the grammatical errors and editing issues in this one just drove me crazy and distracted me from the story. Normally I can look over one or two but this was on every page. It won't stop me from reading more unless the trend continues, but it did kind of ruin this one for me.

a nicely twisted tale, with a lot of false trails, i read this one in two sessions and found i didn’t want to finish it too quickly… a lot of fun ideas playfully entwined.
and the body count was up to it’s normal rate , with some interesting deaths along the way…
there is an Election,
thankfully this was after death politics…. so we know that it could not last into the next volume.

A cozy mystery set in and about the afterlife as viewed and lived(?) by Bridget Sway. She gets her first case as an agent of the Independent Authority but quickly finds she is questioning if this is how she wants to live the rest of her afterlife..

It feels like the end of the series

these books have gotten better as the series goes on, with the interactions of Bridget, Sabrina, Oz, and others evolve and get more complex. I love having the Angel of Death, Charon, involved in their capers.

Good read.

This was a good read. It flowed well with great recurring characters. I would have liked to see Charon a little more though.

Bridget finally thinks she is headed into her eternity-ever job that will keep her satisfied. However all too soon she discovers as an IA (Independent Authority) agent she is supposed to blackmail people under the guise of making them informants. Although she may have tuned out information during training, she is quite sure she never agreed to blackmail individuals. Her first assignment brings this all to a head when she discovers Sean, her Arrivals supervisor, is the paperclip thief she is supposed to turn in to be blackmailed. Then a little thing like a dead body pops up and Bridget does what she does best! What? You don't know how she uses her brains, wiles, and silver tongue? Well you need to start reading this series ASAP, because you are missing out on one of the best and funniest paranormal character and series ever!

Each book takes you further into the after-life (or is it after-death?) of Bridget and friends. Lighthearted mysteries with a whole different set of rules you have never heard of before. Fantastic fun and I am always waiting for the next book.

Bridget thinks she has the job she will be happy with for all eternity. But does she? She misses hearing info at her induction session as an IA (Independent Authority) agent. Her first assignment is to capture the paperclip thief. It turns out to be her Arriverals Supervisor, Sean. She's not turning him in so they come up with a plan to put the paperclips back. But in a different location. When they open the door a dead body falls out. Oh no!! Not again!! Bridget has a way of finding dead bodies. But this time her life gets put in danger. Who is the killer? Why would someone want Bridget dead? Come along on this ride and find out what is going on and how Bridget figures it all out.
Plot is well thought out and story is well written. Characters are developed.

Another Great Story

Ms Jordaina Sydney Robinson just keeps getting better and better at writing stories that are outright funny while still keeping the reader guessing about who the bad guys really are. I say that with certainty because I've read all of her books. I hope she continues write for a long time. A literary world without her work would be far less vibrant.
I suggest you read the Afterlife Adventures in order for the best reading experience. Each book reveals more about the well thought out characters that make them seem real even if they are dead. If you're familiar with this author, don't miss her newest offering. If you've never read one of her books start now.

Best Bridget Sway book yet

Everyone can read the blurb about Bridget's books and know what the stories are about. I want you all to know how much I love them. I think Jordaina does an excellent job of creating a second plane for dead people. She does an excellent job of painting a picture of the town, the house Bridget lives in and the work places. I really love the relationships between all of the people filling Bridget's life.
If I would tell people one thing I would encourage them to begin with the first book and read them all. Even though they can be read individually as stand alone books it is wonderful to see the relationships and Bridget's new life take form.

Another fun read by JS Robinson!

Brigid must solve another murder in the afterlife before she’s next. Beautiful red Charlotte Olympia shoes, housemates, hunky parole officer, best friend, and even one of my favorites, Charon, mix it up in this novel. Enjoy the read - I did.

Having a bad week- disappear into the Afterlife with Bridget and the gang and you will soon feel better. Another amusing and entertaining look at murder and bureaucracy in the afterlife.
