Secret Plunge is the second book in the Kings of the Water series by Jasmin Miller. I loved the first book in this series, Fresh Meet, so I’ve been looking forward to this one and getting to know Ryan.

swim breast stroke gifs - Google Search

Ryan Monroe is thirty five years old and is a competitive swimmer. He’s been in the Olympics twice and is trying for one more time before he officially retires. He’s in New York on New Year’s Eve for an event when his friend talks him into going to a club for the evening. That’s the night he saw her. That’s the night they first connected, they laughed, they drank a lot, and they left together. They spent a passionate night together ringing in the New Year but she stole away in the night before he could get her last name or number. He couldn’t stop thinking about her and then there she was again, on his door step.

Harper Martin has not had a good year. Her husband divorced her, she lost her job, and is now living with her mother trying to figure out her life. When her best friend insists on going out for New Years Eve, things took an amazing turn when she met Ryan. They had an unforgettable night but then she panicked and left. Only to discover a few weeks later that she was pregnant. Then, just to add to her string of bad luck, she discovers that the man she hasn’t stopped thinking about, the father of her baby, is also training under her dad. Her father is Ryan’s coach! Just great!

What a sweet story this was. These two had that instant connection that we all love to read about. But from there, their story took an unconventional turn. They definitely did things out of order. I loved watching them get to know each other and really fall for each other. Of course, their path isn’t easy. And I felt so bad at times for Harper and how things were going for her. But I loved the support she had from her family and from her best friend. And I loved the way Ryan was with her.

This was a sweet, low angst story that I really enjoyed. They definitely were meant for each other. I really hope we get a glimpse into their lives further down the line maybe in a future book.

3.5 stars! This was a light, fluffy, and low-drama accidental pregnancy romance featuring an olympic swimmer hero. It was super easy to read but the forbidden romance (she's the daughter of his coach) and even the swimming aspect could've been stronger.

After a drunken New Years hookup with a hot stranger, Harper discovers she’s pregnant. Harper is recently divorced and a baby is the last thing she expected. She then sees her baby daddy—Ryan—on a billboard and learns he’s a professional swimmer. And thanks to Google, Harper discovers not only does Ryan live across the country, but her dad is his swim coach.

Harper flies cross country to break the news to Ryan. Except she doesn’t include the bit about her dad—not until they know each other better. And to Harper’s surprise, Ryan wants to be apart of their baby’s life, and hers too. And over the next several months, Harper and Ryan face the challenges of becoming parents and figuring out if there is actual love between them, and not just sexual chemistry. But the secret Harper kept from the get-go is bound to bite her in the ass eventually...

Secret Plunge by Jasmin Miller is book 2 in the Kings of the Water series. This was a lighthearted, quick sports romance with the surprise baby trope. That trope can be pretty hit or miss for me, but I liked it here. I think it works best when it’s in the beginning of a story and we see two complete strangers fall in love & accept their new reality as parents. This is a very low-angst/low-drama read that’ll put a smile on your face. I loved all the text exchanges between Ryan & Harper; it gave us a chance to get to know them when they were miles apart and it helped further their relationship. I’ve enjoyed the first 2 books in this series so far so I look forward to reading book 3! 4/5 stars.

Before I get into the book, I’m gonna say it again the inconsistent labeling of the order of the series on GR is confusing. Some pages say Fresh Meet is book 1, some say Secret Plunge is book 1 & there’s pages for each labeling as book 2 as well. I also noticed Fresh Meet was released first, if the release dates are accurate. Now after reading both, I’m guessing Secret Plunge was written/published second, BUT as a prequel to Fresh Meet. So if you want start this series, read Secret Plunge first & you’ll be all set.

Moving on....

Secret Plunge is a quick & sweet read about a chance meeting on New Years with a precious little parting gift neither saw coming & that was just the beginning for Ryan & Harper. JM’s writing has such an easy natural flow, so I plowed right through happily. For a relatively short book, she did a great job giving a solid sense of who Ryan & Harper are, as well as building a palpable chemistry between them. Ryan’s idea sending Harper a weekly fruit selfie(as a comparison to the current size of their baby) is so stinking cute.🥰

I look forward to reading more from this series - hopefully the 3rd book will come out soon🤞.
** After some looking around on FB, I see the next up is Noah. I’m so curious what or who played the part in the change in him that Ryan & Jace have referred to.

(My review was originally posted on the Anthology “Romantically Ever After”)

3,5 💖🍒💖🍑💖 🌟🌟🌟s❣️

Having read Fresh Meet by Jasmine Miller, I was looking forward for her next release of Kings of the Water.

Harper and Ryan’s story was very sweet and appealing. A heartwarming romance read.
They had a one night stand and Harper disappeared later, before Ryan woke up, without exchanging surnames or telephone numbers. Harper found out a few weeks later that she was pregnant and was on a mission to find out who was her baby daddy.

Secret Plunge was very well written and brought out beautiful emotions but it was short lived!!! 😫
The development of the characters and their feelings could have been more elaborated!!
I just needed more!!!!!
Overall it was a very enjoyable read, I hope the next one will be longer lasting!

If you love age-gap/unexpected pregnancy/sports romance then you should pick up Ryan and Harper’s story. This was a fairly quick read with minimal drama, but it was a joy and you can’t helped but become invested in their relationship. The writing flows effortlessly and I loved the balance of humour/steam/romance. Ryan and Harper were endearing and there was also a cast of brilliant supporting characters , who I’m hoping will be getting their own stories one day.

✨ unexpected pregnancy
✨ age gap
✨ one-night stand

3.5 | I read this in the Romantically Ever After Collection and it was a super fast, fun, sweet and low on the drama reading which I totally recommend, just like the first book in this series. Ryan was a softie and Harper was a funny character, very relatable at times. This is a really sweet and cute romance to enjoy in one afternoon.

I am voluntarily reviewing an advanced reader copy of this book.

Harper has the worst year, she had lost her job, her husband had divorced her and she was back living under her mothers roof. It’s New Years Eve when her best friend decides that she needs to go out and live a little, when she meets Ryan they have an instant connection and she decides to throw caution to the wind and she has an amazing night but when morning comes around and the cold light of day she panics and runs but it’s not long until she realises she’s going to have a permanent reminder of just how amazing that night was and the man she hadn’t been able to get out of her mind. That’s until she discovers that Ryan isn’t as far away as she thought and her dad is actually his coach. How will Harper tell Ryan of her little secret and how will he react?

Ryan has been to the Olympic Games twice and is aiming for a third before he officially retires. But it’s New Year Eve and he meets a woman who takes his breath away, it’s a night of letting go so when they spend a passionate night together he’s gutted when he wakes to find her gone. No last name and no number he’s trying to reconcile himself to never seeing her again but when she arrive on his doorstep she’s got a big surprise for him. Can he prove to her that what they have is special and they could have a future?

These two characters were enthralling from the start and after meeting them in Fresh Meet I was thrilled they were getting there own story. Highly recommended read and series. 4.8*

This was an enjoyable read. Harper and Ryan meet on New Years Eve. They have a passionate night together and go on their way. However, Harper ends up pregnant. Once she was able to track him down they began to have a relationship of sort. It started out as just talking and being there for each other. However, by the end they end up happily in love.

4.5 Stars! This is a quick read with a dreamy male lead and a HEA. I’m a huge fan of surprise pregnancy romances, which is why I knew I had to pick this one up. The tangled web that Ryan and Harper unknowingly find themselves in after some NYE fun, was so entertaining. I just enjoyed seeing how their relationship developed throughout the story and was so satisfied at the end. I’m extremely glad I picked this one up and book 1 of the Kings of the Water series, Fresh Meet. I’m definitely looking forward to the other two guys in the group getting their HEA!

This book was lovely. Harper was thrown in a situation she wasn't prepared for, her life was a crazy mess, SHE's a crazy mess, but that's what I loved about her. She's quirky, a bit of a lunatic, hilarious, but so sweet. The loneliness she experienced broke my heart, she has such a good heart. Ryan is the dream man. He's caring, gentle, sweet, I couldn't imagine a better man for Harper. Their path was a bit rocky, but I liked that they spent the time knowing each other, building their relationships instead of jumping in a relationship and being instantly in love like most books. It made it all feel real, genuine. This was my first book from this author, and it definitely won't be the last ❤️

Are you in the mood for a quick little feel-good romance? Secret Plunge could be it.

Harper's had a rough year. It's New Year's Eve, and she and her bestie are letting down their hair for a farewell to the old and ringing in the better. And what could be better than a hottie one-night stand?

But Harper's luck is crap and last year's BS is chasing her into the new one because she has a souvenir and in nine months so will her one-night stand.
If only she knew his last name.
No, wait--sucks to be Harper. She just found it out. Mr. Sexy is her dad's new swimmer trainee.

FML should be Harper's life's motto.

Secret Plunge is your typical romance, and you can't go wrong with that. I devoured it in three hours. There is a lot of looking at one another in awe and amazement, which is why I dinged its stars. I can't abide by the sugary sweetness. There is also a shortage of angst in the crux. I like my angst to be angsty. The issue between Ryan and Harper was a little too neatly fixed up. You can't win them all--I mean you shouldn't. This book needed one more hiccup to make it work for me that didn't happen.

In the end, it's a cute, quick read. Most will find no arguments here.

I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary advance copy of this book.

This was a quick straight to the point read and I really enjoyed it. It was actually really adorable with very likeable characters and I think I liked this even more than the first one! Harper’s relationship with her father was very sweet and had me tearing up a bit. I also liked how there really wasn’t a lot of drama and even though I knew what was coming, it didn’t feel predictable. I hope there will be more books in this series.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

This was good happy love story. Very easy to read and I didn't put it down so it went quickly. I felt for Harper because I know how being alone during pregnancy feels. I love how the relationship progressed. So many relationships blossom over technology these days, its nice to see that represented. And the epilogue was adorable!

This book grabbed me when I really needed it. I typically read every day. I need it for my anxiety. But I was I a major reading rut before I saw this book. I haven't been able to finish the last 12 books I started. After I finished this book I felt much better.

This is the 1st in a series and well as the first time I have read this author’s work, but I will certainly be looking out for her work in the future. Ryan and Harper meet on New Year’s Eve, and they end up having a hot 1-night stand. Three weeks later Harper has a positive pregnancy test and needs to track down Ryan to tell him which is difficult with no last name, only to find out that he is a gold medal swimmer, and her dad is his new coach. It is great how these two try to make their relationship work, but can they survive the long distance, or will they compromise for the baby? This is a well written flawless story which is a sweet quick read, with engaging characters, and has sizzling chemistry, and is a fun and entertaining read. I recommend this for all readers, and I look forward to reading the next book in this series.

I loved this one! Although I do wish it had been longer. I would say this one it closer to novella size then novel size.

These two start off as a one night stand. Luckily, they both still think about each other because guess what??? Sometimes condoms aren’t 100% baby making proof. Oops!!! AND she doesn’t know his last name!!! Oh my goodness what is she going to do???

You need to read this one to find out. You’ll love it! I enjoyed the characters and look forward to reading the stories of Hunter and Noah later (Jace’s story is already out.)

Plunge Into This Read!

This is the second book in this series about swimmers and Secret Plunge brings us Ryan’s story. When a one night stand brings Harper and Ryan together sparks fly! When it ends in a surprise pregnancy the fears set in. They were a fun couple to read as they navigated getting to know each other a bit in reverse. Good addition to this series!

4.5 stars ⭐️

Jasmin Miller won me over after reading Fresh Meet. So it was without hesitation that I dived right into this book (without even reading the blurb) and It did not disappoint!

Secret Plunge turned me on to the whole ‘oops baby‘ trope, that honestly, is not normally what I go for. This book worked for me on so many levels because I fell in love with sexy, handsome Ryan from the get go and could relate to quirky Harper and all her insecurities.

It’s New Year’s eve and Harper is in desperate need of some extra curricular sexy times after a messy divorce from her high school sweetheart and losing her job. At an all time low point in her life she hooks up with hot and sexy Ryan. Since hookups are not her thing, Harper takes off without a backward glance. Fast forward and she discovers that she’s pregnant and has no idea what Ryan’s last name is.

In a twist of fate, she discovers who Ryan is and that they have an unexpected connection. Both Ryan and Harper feel the connection between them and although in shock over the whole pregnancy thing they are keen to get to know each other and to develop a friendship/bond that will allow them to move on together.

Watching them fall, slowly in love with one another via chat, text messages and phone calls made this a deliciously sweet slow burn romance that I read in one sitting. TBR and Enjoy!

There's a little bit of everything in this short, surprise baby romance by Jasmin Miller; surprise pregnancy after a one night stand, age gap, sports.

24 year old Harper shares a sexy New Year's Eve with a hot stranger named Ryan. No last names are exchanged, something she regrets 3 weeks later after the positive pregnancy test. Finding her date turns out to be easy, since he's on billboards. He's 35 yr old professional swimmer Ryan Monroe, hoping for an Olympic comeback. When she tracks him down, complications ensue.

Told in first person, Miller does a good job creating different voices between the two characters. Standard surprise baby stuff here. Ending left me wanting more.

Duel pov. Pregnancy trope. Age gap. He’s a swimmer and her dads the coach. She just got divorced and fired from her job. They met on New Year’s Eve. I’m not a fan of pregnancy trope but this was fine cuz it was long distance and it wasn’t really all about being pregnant. he’s in the Olympics but his fastest 100 free time is 58 I think they said. People in high school swam that. I kinda though it always too drawn out. The book could’ve been shorter.

An easy and cute read!

Ryan and Harper met at nye and spend the night together, after three weeks Harper founds out she’s pregnant.
I really liked Ryan and Harper together, despite the circumstances they try to make their situation work, and in the end, they succeed.
If you want a short and sweet that includes an age gap and an unexpected pregnancy you should give this one a try!

Imagine finding yourself fresh off a divorce and a friend urging you to get back on the saddle well this is the circumstance main character harper finds herself in.

Later on she realizes she didn't even catch his name and she is carrying his child . but she sees a billboard of the athlete and realizes her hurdles are only getting started.

She travels to meet him and the two attempt this parenthood thing in an unconventional way like the start of their journey.

I give this book a 4/5🌟

Ryan and Harper met in a bar, have a one night stand, and Harper ends up pregnant. This is their story of how they meet again, go through some truths/lies, and come out better in the end. There is a lot of love between these two and the connection that they feel is so true. They work through distance, they work through pain, and while Harper didn’t directly lie, it was a lie of omission, but honestly Miller writes it so smoothly and naturally that you completely understand and feel why she did what she did. Ryan’s reactions were realistic and with merit, but I was very happy with the way that Miller played this “dark moment” out between them. This book sets up the rest of the Kings of the Water and I can’t wait to see where she goes with Jace, Noah, and Hunter.

More of a 4.75 rounded up to 5. I'm usually not a big fan of short books. I usually dont feel like I get fully fulfilled by a short book but man, this one was good and just really did it for me and completely changed that for me. I binge read this in less than a day. Noah and Harper are great. I'm not a big insta-love person but this was done so well. I loved the writing. I just really enjoyed and would highly recommend. Definitely starting the second book in the series, like now. I read this through kindle unlimited. Highly recommend.

2.25 stars....

This was a new author to me but I quite enjoyed the writing style. Though I wasn't feeling the chemistry between Ryan & Harper at all. The romance was also not much developed, though I think I felt like that because Harper & Ryan were in a long distance relationship and most of their interactions were online, not in person. It was also said that they got to know each other but it was more of telling rather than showing. And the conflict in the plot was pretty dragged. Harper could've just blurted out the truth about her dad being Ryan's coach and she had plenty of opportunities to do so. They had an age gap and although Ryan was older, he felt and acted much younger than his age tbh. Also I thought that we could have some soft and cute scenes with the baby since the whole plot revolves around a pregnancy, but turns out that the baby is not even born until the epilogue and I was so disappointed by that.

Apparently I'm going through a phase where I am not feeling as tolerant as I used to be because this book at 1/5 the way through has already annoyed me beyond words! For me I think my biggest problem is she is keeping a huge secret from her father and the baby daddy which means it's predictable as to what is going to cause a fight later in the book. I'm probably not giving it enough of a chance but but his point I'm beyond annoyed with the heroine and a little iffy on the hero.
I hope that they do come about and I have no doubt it'll all work out but sometimes I need more and this book just wasn't giving that to me! There is loads of potential here and I might try another book. by the author int he future.
This is my honest and unbiased review.

What a cute story!

Harper and Ryan were so cute together! They had the perfect chemistry. Who cares if their relationship started in an unconventional way. Baby first then get to know the baby daddy then move in? It worked in their favour!
