I have known for a long time that Kimberly Kincaid is a fantastic Romantic Suspense writer but with The Guardian she has proven herself to be one of the very best!

Full of twists and turns (SO many I just didn't see coming!), Garza and Delia's steamy story had me gasping with shock one minute and fanning myself the next (seriously their's is the best first kiss I have EVER read!) and wishing I could turn the pages faster. Delia's sunny and optimistic personality is a perfect compliment to Garza's gruff and grumpy demeanor. Add in some truly evil elements, Garza and Delia's off-the-charts chemistry,  and cameos from some of our favorite Remington characters and The Guardian is the perfect addition to the Intelligence Unit series. 5 stars just isn't enough!!

Hands down my favorite book so far!! I absolutely LOVED Delia and Matteo's story.

Delia was so refreshing. She was honest, funny, trusting, and optimistic. Garza (Matteo) was grumpy and edgy. Although once he started to come out of his shell, he was caring and extremely protective. The banter between these two had me laughing. The chemistry between these two was off the charts. They are a perfect balance for each other.

There were some twists and turns that kept me on my toes. Several I was able to guess, but there was a big one I missed. I'm glad there was an epilogue as well. The book ended a little too quickly for me, but the epilogue, while introducing who the next book will be about, also gave us a little more insight into what was going on with Delia and Matteo.

Detective Matteo Garza is all cop, no BS, and very little social interaction. Delia Sutton is the quirky, mathematical wizard and best friend of Garza’s little sister, Camila Garza. Sparks don’t fly between Matteo and Delia until she is mugged after stumbling across financial anomalies at the mergers and acquisitions company where she works. Against his better judgement, Matteo is pulled into the simple ‘mugging’ by his sister, Camila. Delia’s persistence that the Remington PD follow up on her mugging collides with Garza’s cold case file of the Bianchi crime family when Delia recognizes a face on the crime scene board. The suspense, intrigue, and twists will keep you engaged until the very end. Add financial anomalies, embezzling, and murder along with the steamy sex scenes and this is a must read romantic suspense novel. I also loved that Delia Sutton was fully comfortable within her own quirky personality; and who will not fall in love with ‘Grumpy Garza’. Matteo Garza is everything I want in my hero; protective, alpha, just grumpy enough to not be perfect, and he’s sexy as hell..... come on have you seen the cover???

Kimberly has proven again that she is an amazing romantic suspense author. I have loved Grumpy Garza from the first time I saw him and wondered if he'd ever let his guard down. Even though I wanted to smack him in the beginning he proved himself worthy of Delia. There were so many twists and turns throughout the entire story that I was on the edge of my seat wondering what would happen next. Delia is super smart and has known Garza for years, since she is his sister's best friend. When she needs help the Intelligence Unit is there to help her. I also appreciated that she has a close relationship to her dad.

Readers! I'm thrilled to bring you Grumpy Garza's story! This opposites attract/forbidden lovers romance between a grouchy Alpha hero and a quirky, number-nerd heroine was so much fun to write. Even better, The Guardian stands alone, so you can dive right in today. I'm not even sorry if you stay up past your bedtime with these two!

Kimberly Kincaid continues her romantic suspense series Intelligence Unit with this tale of Detective Grouchy Pants and the oddball number loving Delia Sutton who steamrolls her way into his work only life and heart.

When Delia accidentally uncovers a money laundering scheme in her firm, Detective Matteo Garza is completely invested in not only taking down Remington’s most notorious criminals and promises to keep Delia safe without crossing any lines regardless of the fact that his little sister’s best friend has grown into a gorgeous and appealing woman.

As they’re forced to work together to find the evidence Garza needs, Delia starts to crack the walls beneath that cantankerous exterior. Can he keep her from danger long enough for them to explore their newfound attraction?

Kimberly Kincaid gives readers a tale full of anticipation with danger and sexiness palpable in every page. She skillfully writes exciting sequences with sensual undertones that kept me interested from start to finish.

Facts: The Guardian is book #2 of the Intelligence Unit series by Kimberly Kincaid. It's told from both points of view with a happy ending. Genres: romantic Suspense

Holy hot Grouchy Pants!!! Matteo Garza is all that…and more! What a wonderfully written hero for this intense and twisted romantic suspense! Pair him up with Delia Sutton (his sister’s best friend) and sparks will fly! When Author Kimberly Kincaid writes, she puts her whole heart and soul into it…and The Guardian is added evidence of that!

“When my normal somehow becomes your normal, it’s not normal, okay? I’m not holding anything back. I’m scared.”

Every single character in this book is so well written! You have the main characters…sweet, unique math geek, Delia (until you get her riled up!) and gruff, never smiling, workaholic Matteo. Everyone else also had their perfect space in this romance and it all aligned to create this incredible, I-can’t-put-this-down, opposites-attract, sister’s best friend romance. Plus, I freaking LOVE when an author starts a new series and there are cameos of characters from other series! It won’t take away from the reading if you haven’t read the previous books/series, but for those of us who have, it is like a family member coming for a visit. Then, add in the undeniable, explosive chemistry…WOW! This book was HOT and swoon-worthy…and that first kiss...(stops to fan self just thinking about it again…). Definitely a NSFW read! HAHA. This romance has a bit of everything…suspense, humor, heat, and more. Everything that makes up a must-read, 5 star romantic suspense!

This is the second story in the Intelligent Series, and it grabs you right away.

Matteo Garza is a detective who gets twitchy when he’s bored. Right now the unit is going through a dry spell, and the quiet and the frenzy of a baby shower for another detective has him right on the edge. He’s a single guy, who wants to stay that way.

Delia Sutton is a genius with numbers. She is Vice President of Finance at the company where she works, and right now totally confused about numbers she’s seeing in a report. There is discrepancies in several places, but the numbers at the end are correct. She consults with her boss, Peyton Willoughby, who assures her it’s fine and will take care of it. Delia is not convinced, and downloads all the info to a drive stick. Then craziness breaks out. She is violently mugged, her laptop, phone and wallet stolen, and ends up in the hospital with a head injury. Detective Garza gets involved because of his sister, and he and Delia spend a lot of time together working on the mugging. It turns out there is way more involved in this incident that slowly starts coming together, along with Delia and Matteo being drawn closer.

Danger, action and a sexy love story emerge in this exciting story. It hold your attention well, and the side characters are great. It can be read as a standalone, but the first book is equally enjoyable. Looking forward to the next in the series!

Kimberly Kincaid thoroughly impressed me with The Guardian. Characters with integrity and grit. A plot-line that kept you on your toes. And, characters that were interesting. A wonderful mix of riveting romantic suspense. Matteo … moody, driven Matteo. That’s the only way to describe him. He’s reliable, focused, and intent on solving a cold case and finds out that the key to everything just might be Delia. He needs to focus on the case and not the offbeat, beautiful woman that he can’t seem to get out of his head. It’s his sister’s best friend and that alone should keep him away. She’s the key to bringing this case together and that should keep him away. But, despite both of those things, he can’t help himself. He has a deep-seated need to protect her and love her.

Soft-spoken Delia. Quirky and also driven. She’s brilliant when it comes to numbers and she knows there is a discrepancy in the company’s figures. One minute it’s wrong … the next it’s right. What is the hidden company she found? Who is behind it all? Who mugged her and why? Lots of questions and the answers may all be hidden in her Cromwell A&M laptop and thumb-drive. Weird, quiet Delia just may be looking at something so much bigger than her. It’s time to assert herself and open herself up. What she doesn’t expect is Matteo Garza being the person that she opens up to, that she trusts wholeheartedly and will follow wherever he leads.

I enjoyed the twists and turns, the laughter, and the love that Kimberly Kincaid put into this story. I also enjoyed visiting with some characters from the Remington Medical series. It’s always nice to get caught up with good friends. The Guardian really did have the right formula for a wonderful story. A little bit of drama, a touch of laughter, characters that were fascinating, and a story that will surprise you and steal your heart.

The Guardian is the second in Kimberly Kincaid's Intelligence Unit series, and hoooooooboy, it's a scorcher.

Matteo Garza is one of Remington's finest in blue. Garza is one determined guy, essentially married to his job, especially after his last serious relationship all but imploded because of his determination to be the best cop he can be. And Delia Sutton is equally focused on her work; she just happens to love numbers, and works her magic for a local acquisitions firm. Delia also happens to be his little sister's BFF. While Matteo caught her eye years ago when he helped his sister move into their dorm, she knows her quirky personality doesn't put her high on the list of hot guys like him.

When Delia's devotion to numerical alignment has her stumbling across some suspicious activity, Garza vows to keep her from harm, strictly professionally, of course. But finding common ground and shared passion turns that "just a job" idea to ash ;)

Kimberly Kincaid's story will make your heart race in all the best ways. She deftly brings the must-haves of contemporary romance--excellent characterizations, fantastic secondary characters, compelling emotional ties and marries it with fantastic suspense--a page-turning story and tight plotting that connects the dots. The Guardian stands alone well, but you won't want to miss the previous in the series, The Rookie, or any of the books in the Station Seventeen series or Remington Medical series, whose characters make occasional appearances.

Matteo and Delia are beautifully layered characters, with vulnerabilities that make them all too relatable. Delia is a queen--determined not to let her typically quieter geekiness keep her from living life, she grabs for the brass ring fiercely, and her willingness to speak up and to work to be more of the person she wants to be makes her gorgeous not just to Matteo, but to us readers! (Yes, I've got a girl crush ;) )

And we could write odes to the hot and heroic Garza... A man of fewer words and prone to take action, he's got a serious considerate streak that paired with his attention to detail? Well, there's a lot for Delia to not resist.

Kimberly Kincaid's The Guardian is one delicious read that's going straight to the keeper shelf.

I have been dying to read this second book in the Intelligence Unit since I finished The Rookie. Kimberly Kincaid is my favorite romantic suspense author. She really knows how to get my heart pumping and the pages turning until the very end. I loved everything about The Guardian. Matteo Garza is a hot, grumpy, sexy hero. Delia is an adorable, smart, honest heroine. I absolutely loved her honest, no filter personality. She is just who Grumpy Garza needed to soften him up. They were smoking hot together. And let me tell you about the suspense. I loved that I thought I knew who the bad guy was but Kincaid totally threw me for a loop towards the end there. I loved that she kept me guessing and trying to figure out who the bad guy was until the very end. Such great storytelling skills. Another thing I especially loved about The Guardian is that I got to revisit with so many lovable characters from the Station 17 and Remington Medical Series. Capelli and Delia together was a hoot! These two are my favorite nerds. I can't wait to read about the rest of the Intelligence Unit team.

*I voluntarily read an advance copy of this book. Although I have preordered it too at a discounted price. If you haven't gotten your copy yet, I highly recommend you preorder yours today!*

Delia is this genius when it comes to numbers and one day she finds some discrepancies in her office accounts so she starts to question things, things certain people want to keep hidden. She is attacked and robbed and the one person she has been in love with for years is assigned to her case, Matteo. Matteo is a hardworking detective that takes his job seriously and sometimes forgets what it is like to sympathize with others and Delia doesn’t hesitate to let him know that. The attraction between these two is strong but outside forces are trying to hunt Delia down and stop her from exposing their scheme. This was a great read that was full of action, steam, suspense, and love. I loved this book and can’t wait to read more.

I loved this book! I have always enjoyed a romance with good suspense in it. This is it. Delia was such a quirky character that I couldn’t wait to see what she would say next! She is a quiet person and known for her craziness as she is an expert when it comes to numbers and manipulating them. She can see things with numbers most people would never catch. Unfortunately she sees something with the numbers in the company she works for. This causes so many problems for her. Luckily her best friends’s brother Matteo is a detective that Delia asks for when she gets mugged. Matteo is great at his job, but no so good with interpersonal skills. He and his department are looking to find evidence on a mafia boss in town. When Delia identifies the man, Matteo and his department all pay attention to Delia and what she knows. Delia has a soothing way with people and is understanding. She has had a crush on Matteo for years and this is her chance to really get to know him. The story gets so exciting with suspense and who is good and who is bad. I enjoyed watching Matteo fall down the rabbit hole of love. I strongly encourage you to read the book. I was given a copy and voluntarily wrote a review.

The Guardian is the second book in the Intelligence Unit series from Kimberly Kincaid, and it absolutely kept me on the edge of my seat from page one. Kimberly Kincaid writes amazing sexy romantic suspense stories with strong heroes and heroines.

Matteo Garza and Delia Sutton are absolutely two of my favorite characters from Kimberly Kincaid. Delia and Garza have known each for years thanks to Delia being Garza's sister's college roommate, and Delia has had a crush on Garza from the moment they met. I loved while they are so very different, they were absolutely perfect as a couple. Garza is a workaholic cop who hasn't been in a relationship in years thanks to an ex who was totally selfish and horrible about his job. Delia is a numbers person who sees the world differently from Garza. However, when she is mugged and needs help, Garza is just the man for the job...especially when it appears the trouble connects to a cold case Garza and his unit have been investigating for a long time.

I felt the chemistry between Garza and Delia was subtle as the story started, but once they were around each other more, the chemistry was super hot and intense. Part of what I loved both about them is they each accepted the other as is and didn't want to change anything about the other. Some seriously smoking hot love scenes between these two! You have been warned.

Kimberly Kincaid writes such amazing romantic suspense stories. While I thought I knew who was working with Nicky to steal money, I somehow was blindsided by the real bad guy. Looking back, the trail was there all along, and I loved that Ms. Kincaid kept me guessing until the end. I love guessing about the bad guy when reading and while I usually figure out the bad guy, I love it when an author surprises me.

Kimberly Kincaid has been an auto-buy author for me from the moment I read one of her first books. Readers who love super sexy romantic suspense romances can't go wrong with the books in her Intelligence Unit series of books.

I love sizzling, emotional, contemporary romance and I love breath-stealing, edge-of-the-seat, romantic suspense. What Kimberly Kincaid has created in The Guardian is a superbly balanced combination of the two that totally immersed me in the story, keeping me glued to the pages long into the night, until I turned the final page with a deep, heart-felt sigh of satisfaction.

Grumpy, broody, alpha heroes are my weakness and, boy howdy, does Garza ever fit that description. Pair him with the brilliant, quirky, and eternally optimistic best friend of his younger sister, who just happens to have been crushing on him since college, and I am so there. They complement each another beautifully, with physical chemistry that is off the charts (Kincaid is a genius creator of sizzling, organic love scenes). That chemistry is matched by a developing emotional tenderness and vulnerability with one another that won my heart and a deep respect for each other that convinced my head that the deepening bond between these two was the real deal.

The suspense/action portion of the story is fast-paced, edgy, and expertly crafted with so many unexpected twists and turns I had no idea what would happen next...but I couldn't wait to find out. The villainous characters are fully developed, and scarily realistic, adding another layer of tension to the life or death consequences at play.

The Guardian stands well on its own. If you're new to Kimberly Kincaid's novels, it's a great place to start. For those of you who are already fans of her books set in Remington, you'll no doubt be delighted to catch up with a few favorite characters from previous books.

Holy WOW, Kimberly Kincaid has hit a homerun with her sexiest, nerdiest book yet!!

"Do not think of her sliding a fork past her lips and moaning in pleasure , you horny, horny bastard."

Delia is a financial analyst with an unhealthy obsession with Dateline, but when she sees something hinky in the accounts at work she knows she's not imagining things. The Guardian starts with insight into her mathematical genius, showing Delia sees numbers in colors, and that she's had a crush on Matteo Garza for what feels like forever. When she gets mugged though, Garza manages to invalidate every feeling running through her and her intelligence, making it clear he's really not seeing her.

Detective Matteo Garza is ALL about the job, and has been for years. He certainly doesn’t have time to investigate a mugging when he's trying to close a cold case that is years old, even if the person involved is his sisters best friend! When he realizes Delia knows more than she's saying, he pushes hard, not understanding her terror, and when he finally realizes what he's missed, it might be too late.

I LOVED being back with the Thirty-Third precinct, all the suspense and fire between Delia and Garza made me breeze through this book in a day!! 5 fantabulous stars for Kennedy Kincaids The Guardian, I can't WAIT to see who's up next!!

THIS IS A NOT TO MISS BOOK! You do NOT want to wait on this one! The Guardian is book 2 in Kimberly Kincaid's THE INTELLIGENCE UNIT series. This is one of those reads that you'll stay up all night reading so be prepared. Fans of romances with realistic well developed characters and a storyline that keeps you turning pages will be thrilled with THE GUARDIAN. I don't want to give away too much on this story. But as the blurb says this is a romance between a brother and his little sister's friend. If you don't like Alpha males you likely won't like this one. Matteo is completely alpha. I personally loved this story. This one is HOT so keep that in mind too. I highly recommend you pick up THE GUARDIAN and sit back ready to ready all weekend. Just make sure you have a "do not disturb" sign ready!

Whenever I pick up a book by this very talented author I know it will be a winner. This one proved my point.
In this second book of the series, we have Matteo Garza and Delia Sutton.
Matteo is a detective in Remington (those that have read the author’s Remington Medical are familiar with this location). He lives, eats and breaths the job.
Delia is a sweet, brilliant mathematician. She’s also his sister’s best friend who had a crush on him in her youth.
When Delia’s life is in danger with criminals after her, Matteo is determined to keep her safe.
But what happens when in the midst of evading danger, the heart gets involved?
Will these seemingly opposites find out that there is more in life than a job ?
Be ready for a story that will have you rooting for these two individuals and hope they get their HEA.
I was entrusted a copy of this book. The opinions expressed are solely my own.

Intrigue and Excitement Perfection!! It will keep you glued to your seat as you watch Matteo and Delia’s romance blossom while the bad guys try to ruin it all. What I enjoyed most was that this story is not just your every day, run of the mill romantic suspense. I fell in love with Delia’s quirkiness and naivety combined with Matteo’s obsession with his job and solving crime couldn’t have been better. Delia’s knowledge of numbers and astrology was really enlightening and captured my interest right off the bat. I couldn’t put it down!!

Grumpy Detective Matteo Garza has found the one thing that can turn his frown upside down in spunky, quirky Delia Sutton. When his little sister's best friend discovers a money laundering scheme in her work place, his oath to protect and serve becomes a little more personal. This steamy romantic suspense keeps you on your toes and leaves you wanting more (which is awesome because it's book 2 in the Intelligence Unit series and interconnected with the Remington Medical and Station Seventeen series; so while it's a standalone story, there's lots of other couples to discover and love if you haven't already read the other books!) I am looking forward to the next book in the series and more books in the future from this author.

3.5 stars rounding up...

Grumpy detective Matteo Garza meets his match in his sister's friend Delia Sutton--an oddball character with a penchant for mathematics--when she unwittingly gets embroiled in a white-collar, mafia-related crime.

'The Guardian' is a typical RS-structured story, though Kimberly Kincaid does handle the case with aplomb, ratcheting up the tension (and the sparks between Garza and Delia, though admittedly their chemistry seems to be adrenaline-induced) notch by notch until the climax unsurprisingly coincides with commitment-resistant Garza coming to an emotional conclusion of his own. If Garza is emotionally-closed, stoic and grouchy, Delia's openness in contrast is refreshing and more relatable.

The standout here in any case, is Kincaid's structure, pacing and talent with words, even if the plot isn't too much of a surprise. Danger is what draws the couple in question together; the somewhat abrupt conclusion made me wonder however, if Delia/Garza would be a pairing that would eventually last past the urgency and the aftermath of the case.

The secondary characters are not unknowns, having had books of their own, so with each book that comes, the experience is akin to reading about an ever-growing amalgamation of Kincaid's fictional worlds and characters coming together in a huge clan reunion where Remington is eventually going to be populated with happy couples egging the singletons on. Still, each book is a standalone...if you're able to ignore the familiarity with which these secondary characters flit in and out of some scenes.

'The Guardian' is and easy read--admittedly it's not too much of a story that I would find myself thinking too hard about weeks later, but it's a decent and engaging one for the time you've got the pages turning.

Gang, I cannot EVEN with my fangirl love for Kimberly Kincaid and the Intelligence Unit books--especially THIS one. Just sit down and get ready to devour one of the best romantic suspense books that your senses will ever enjoy. I. Am. So. Serious.
I've made no secret of the fact that I'm in love with Kimberly Kincaid as a person--but let me tell you, all that amazing personality and joy for life finds its way into every magical word she puts on a page, as well.
"The Guardian" actually had me sneaking in little reading breaks during my days so I could finish the story, especially after the plot turn into the last act. It was a daring move for the author to make, but had my jaw plummeting to the point that I literally could not put the book down after that. Don't get me wrong; every paragraph of the plot up to that point was mesmerizing too--especially because it's carried on the backs of two protagonists who thoroughly captured my mind and heart from the first act, and wouldn't let go. Delia is the ultimate heroine for me, because I'm just going to say it: math and I do NOT get along, and she's this freaking math/logic nerd STUD, and is completely comfortable with that! It's so refreshing to read a heroine who isn't insecure about everything, including her own shadow. This woman knows her strengths and isn't afraid to make sure the world knows about them. Like I said: STUD to the max. And Matteo Garza? Well, he's just the sole guy on the planet who gets her--ALL of her--and isn't afraid to step up to the plate and fall in love with all of her, as well.
I just cannot even say what a complete, swoon-worthy experience it was to read this incredible book. My only "bummer" moment in the ride was when it was OVER! So many fangirl stars for this book!

Hot grumpy alpha meets quirky mathematician and the chemistry is sizzling hot, even when the fear of life is on the line. A storyline full of twists and turns keeps those pages flipping, wanting to know what happens next.

Delia Sutton was just doing her thing, checking out the numbers when she rolled onto something that wasn't right. Soon she finds herself in dangers way, working alongside Remington's finest to take down part of the local mob. She is not cut out for this stuff, her normal quiet is keeping to herself. Being her and not caring if people don't like it.

Matteo is the job, realizing the hard way that being a detective and relationships don't mix well. He was fine to focus on work with the odd one night stand on the side. When his little sisters best friend shows up with concerns of money laundering at her work, his protector side comes out full force. He tries to fight the feelings that the quirky and sexy thing brings to light.

Will the time spent together to solve the crime and keep Delia safe bring them together? Or will feeling get in the way of doing the job he prides himself on? Will Matteo find the right balance to have both his career and love as well?

This was so very well done! I’ve read other works by this author, but this was my first read in this series. Sure, I came in a book late, but I didn’t feel lost or miss anything because of my book-skipping fumble. Instead, I was hooked by Delia and Matteo and the Intelligence Unit that Matteo works in. I thought I had the mystery figured out, then I wasn’t sure, then I thought maybe it was someone who I really hoped wouldn’t be behind this mess, and then I was still surprised by the time everything blew up in Delia’s face. Luckily, everything was saved by the skin of Delia’s and Matteo’s teeth, but it was still an incredibly bumpy ride to the finish for both them and Matteo’s unit.

Not only did I get a read I didn’t want to put down, but I also got a new series that I really enjoyed and the anticipation of Maxwell’s story. I see more drama and worry and danger ahead for him and his shot at love.

With lovable characters and a plot that will keep you on the edge of your seat from cover to cover, you won't be able to look away.
Seriously I've been missing out by only just finding this author, cannot wait to see what happens next, but will also be going through her backlist as soon as I can.
You'll never see the twists coming until it's too late, and I love that in my books.
Definitely recommend

If you want fast paced action with two unlikely characters thrown together in a gripping storyline look no further. Kimberly Kincaid once again puts the reader on the edge of their seats with Matteo and Delia's forbidden romance that has so many twists and turns the reader has no idea which way is up. You will instantly fall in love with the sassy Delia, while the hot, alpha Matteo will leave you wanting more. Perfect combination of love and danger.
