Cursed with immortality over a century ago, life has been cruel for Draco Vulcan. He has suffered greatly and now feels dead inside even if he cannot be killed in body. Now, if there’s any hope of finally breaking the curse and ensuring his two best friends can live out normal lives with the women they love, Draco must marry a woman he actively dislikes.

Lady Gavina deKeith has just been widowed and has no desire to enter another loveless marriage, most especially not to the savage warrior she has seen fighting with William Wallace.

But when King Edward of England learns that the Wallace has taken refuge at Dunnottar Castle and begins a violent siege against them, Draco and Gavina have few options but to join forces against a common enemy, but neither is ready for the sacrifices they must make to break the curse.

This was an excellent finale for an action-packed series. There was a crazy juxtaposition here with some romance flaring between Draco and Gavina while a battle waged just outside the castle walls. This was definitely a nail-biter to say the least. Draco had some serious issues and definitely qualified as a very tortured hero, so his confiding in Gavina was raw and beautifully emotional. I loved how vulnerable these two were to each other and they made an excellent pair. I’m looking forward to what’s next from this author as she’s become one of my most reliable favorites.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

DRACO de Jayne Castel Serie The Immortal Highland Centurions libro 3

Argumento:

Drago: A Medieval Scottish Romance (The Immortal Highland Centurions Book 3) by Jayne Castel
5 Star Highly Recommended...Pure Joy to Read!
I’ve been so excited anticipating Drago’s story which is the last book and the conclusion of the Immortal Highland Centurions curse! Their story starts when Roman soldiers march on Scotland to vanquish and add Scotland to the Roman’s ever expanding borders. However, the tide of the war shifts and the Romans find themselves on the losing end. The last three Roman Centurions were badly wounded, and dying when a woman set upon them a curse so harsh they would be reminded everyday of the pain and loss they caused Scotland.
I’ve been excited waiting and anticipating Drago’s story! I was not disappointed! This story is fast paced, action packed, and an engaging emotional rollercoaster, heart racing moments, gut wrenching angst, compelling characters with a steaming hot romantic chemistry, and a nonpareil curse with cleaver torments to top it all off! There is an amazing creativity in the story that stands out to me because, it stopped me dead in my tracks, mid sentence. I actually had to go back and read it and then reread it again, just to make sure I understood what really happened to Drago during the year he was missing. Sorry, friends you know I truly dislike spoilers so, I won’t say anything more than, “when I let it sink in, the hair on the back of my neck stood up!) Happy Reading ♥️
Content: Adult. Some explicit steamy romance descriptions 4 out of 5 flames. 🔥🔥🔥🔥

Whew!!! What an emotional roller-coaster ride this story took me on. The page turning twists and turns in the story had me holding my breath, another time smiling, another time sad and there were moments of levity despite the seriousness of the lives of Maximus, Cassian and Draco. This is the stunning conclusion of the three of them searching for answers to a riddle to break the curse of their immortality. Finding the last piece of the puzzle was wonderful and everyone had hope. But things don't always go the way one wants them to. In this case it was Draco's life and that of Lady Gavina. They were the key. At the same time William Wallace was hiding at the castle and Edward Longshanks found out about it and laid a seemingly unending siege against Dunnottar. Edward wanted Wallace's head on a pike and was determined to get it. It is best to read the series from the beginning starting with Maximus, then Cassian and now Draco. "Draco was a Moor of Valentia, a town on Spain’s southern coast, and he’d been born well over a thousand years earlier. He’d joined the Roman Ninth legion at twenty winters, and had ended up in Britannia a few years after that. And then when the Ninth fell in northern Caledonia, he’d been one of three survivors cursed by a Pict witch to eternal life." Page 184 That was how it began. Now after Maximus and Cassian had found wedded bliss despite the danger of watching their wives grow old when they did not and die when they could not. They thought they had figured out the last piece of the puzzle. But things do not go as smoothly as one would hope. Draco carried a chip on his shoulder, was arrogant, rude, condescending and had a darkness hanging over him. But he would lay down his life for either Maximus or Cassian. They were closer than brothers. Something heinous happened to Draco that made him the way he was. He found Gavina high in the instep thinking she was all that and a bag of chips. Gavina was now laird and a widow. She did not hide her distain for Draco. The constantly butted heads and insulted each other one way or another. But deep down inside they were very good people. They did their friends had asked and did what was required to end the curse but it did not work. Lady Elizabeth Gavina's sister-in-law suggested they go to a nearby witch. Reluctantly they went. The witch was real and she was able to figure out why the curse was not broken. Draco felt it was impossible to attain and Gavina despite her growing affection for Draco could not tell him how she felt. STALEMATE. Hours later in a quiet moment Draco revealed to Gavina that horrific incident that he had not shared with anyone not even Maximus nor Cassian. Gavina wept with Draco at what he suffered and endured for 166 years. In the meantime, the battle with Longshanks seemed to appear hopeless for them and they knew it was a matter of time before all would be lost. All of a sudden after five long days of sieges Longshanks retreated and left. He received news so disturbing and distressing that he had to leave. In the meantime, Draco was wounded and had two arrows driven through him. He expected by sunrise the next day he would be healed as was the immortal curse caused this to happen. But surprise to all it did not happen. Everyone realized two things, first the curse was indeed broken. How they did not understand and second Draco was dying from his wounds. All of a sudden, the witch appeared and came to save Draco's life. She revealed that the woman that cursed them was the founder of their coven. They had heard of the story of the three Roman centurions cursed by their leader and some thought it a story other took it as truth. The witch now with Draco believed that it was time to end the curse that these three men had suffered enough. Draco was surprised to hear this. The witch attended to him and it was painful for Draco. The witch left and three days later his fever broke and he was on the mend. What was happening between Draco and Gavina had to be privately discussed and it was. This is such an exciting conclusion to the series. Thankfully the author is writing a spinoff on one of the characters. I look forward to reading it. I hope it revisits Maximus, Cassian and Draco for an update on their lives. I will tell you that this book had me on the edge of my seat, if I were a nail biting person, I would have probably done it. This is an electrifying, exhilarating, hair-raising, heart-stopping, mind blowing conclusion you do not want to miss. I highly recommend it.

Draco
The Immortal Highland Centurions #3
Jayne Castel
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Draco Vulcan stopped caring, even feeling about anything or anyone many years ago. He and his two friends were cursed to live forever. Death can't kill them and with every dawn they are fully healed once again. The only time he ever feels any sort if joy is on the battlefield. But once the riddle or cure has finally been deciphered he realizes that to break the curse he must marry a woman he can't stand.

Gavina De Keith may be acting as laird since her husband recently died, but by no means is she a haughty or cold woman. She has been hurt very badly and used by her deceased husband. She has just escaped a loveless marriage and is happy to be alone. Theast thing she could ever want is to enter into a marriage with a cold, brutal warrior who fights along side William Wallace.

Then when Longshanks the England king finds out that William Wallace is hiding at Dunnottar castle, he decides to lay seige against Dunnottar. Now Draco and Gavina must band together to against this common foe. But are they prepared and willing to take things a step farther and sacrifice their own happiness to break the ancient curse that has plagued the Immortal men for centuries?

Jayne Castle writes an amazing story that you can't help but get lost in. I was hooked from the first page right up to the end. I have to admit I'm sad to see the Immortal series end. Draco was the toughest of all and it took a beautiful widow to pull him out of his funk. It was so nice to see Draco settle down happily with Gavina. They thought that if they got married that the curse would be broken, but it wasn't. They even escaped while Edward was trying to take the castle to go see a healer/wise woman. Then when Draco was mortally wounded with no hope they found out the curse was broken. That sane healer showed up explaining she was from the same coven as the witch that cursed them originally. She did something for Draco while he was on his death bed and it caused him alot of pain, but it healed him and he was back to normal. Everyone was elated including me. So they lived as mortal humans and since I don't want to give it all away let's just say that three women (the wives) ended up very happy. It's sad to read that this was the conclusion because I enjoyed the series so much. Ms. Castel you have written an epic conclusion to an amazing trilogy.

Ok, so this was another well-written story and I am glad Draco and Gavina find happiness in the end. I didn't think I would like the story because I didn't really like Draco but his backstory really helped with that. He got the sympathy vote.

I had a big problem with the book, though. I found myself hating the other characters that we had come to know and like over the past two books. They all had their turn of treating Gavina poorly and never once did anyone apologize for that. If they did, it would have restored my faith in them, but no one seemed to realize that they had become jerks.

We have the discovery that Gavina is the one who is meant to marry Draco and Maximus gets upset with her because she isn't dropping everything to marry the guy the moment she hears the prophesy. I get he wants the curse broken, but he's acting like a jerk. And never once does he apologize for that. And at the time the rest of the pieces hadn't yet fallen into place (the siege was yet to start) so it didn't need to be settled there and then but Maximus stopped being reasonable.

Then there was still no siege yet but Cassian comes and starts insisting that Gavina rush to marry Draco, dumping guilt onto her because she's not jumping to say yes. He, of all people, should have been better. He hurt Aila several times (knowing full well that he was hurting her) because he didn't want to jump into marriage. And yet he doesn't give any curtesy to Gavina for taking the same stand. Again, I get that he wants the curse broken, but he needed to acknowledge that he was jerk.

Later on, Heather pushes Gavina to go up onto the wall in the middle of a battle to tell Draco that she loves him because who knows how much time they have left to break the curse. Again she is being shoved around by those who want the curse broken and no one is thinking about or caring about her. Heather's basically saying: "Just go walk straight into danger for us, Gavina, because our lives and happiness are more important than yours."

And no one apologizes for treating her this way. They all just end as friends as if no one had done anything wrong. They needed to do better.

WOW!!! What an outstanding finale to a fantastic trilogy! A well deserved standing ovation for Ms. Jayne Castel!!! "Draco", Book 3 of the Immortal Highland Centurions goes beyond my wildest expectations! I can't remember when I've read a book that's remotely as exciting, suspenseful, emotional, heart-breaking, tragic, yet beautiful as this! Of the three Centurions, Draco was my least favorite in the first two books....however by the end of his story he is my hands-down most favorite! I now fully understand why he is the way he is.

This is the story of Draco, a sarcastic, brutal, cold and bitter warrior fighting for William Wallace and Gavina, Lady of Dunnottar Castle, a disillusioned, emotionally abused and neglected widow of the Laird. They intensely dislike each other but find they are the remaining piece of the puzzle in solving the Centurions' 1,000 year Immortality curse. It is about pain and betrayal, self-sacrifice and redemption, facing one's fears and taking a chance on love.

When Edward Longshanks, King of England discovers Wallace is hiding at Dunnottar he lays siege to the Castle. The sights, smells, horror, desperation and courage the author describes were amazing! It is so well-written, with such descriptive detail, it's as if I was truly there myself! The situation was so desperate I wondered if there was any way this would end well, whether anyone would get their HEA. Leave it to Ms. Castel to create such a brilliant, mind-blowing resolution! It was not what I expected!

I love how the author weaves actual history into her stories....people, locations, events. It gives them a sense of reality. I would recommend reading the whole trilogy so readers have the backstory to all the characters that are revisited throughout the books. Believe me, you won't be disappointed! And don't forget the Historical Details at the end! A brilliant series by a brilliant, talented author! Highly recommended! I'd give it 10 Stars if I could!

Their time is running out

The broom-star (now known as Halley's Comet) is only in the sky for a couple of months every 75-76 years. Which means that time is running out for three stranded Roman Empire soldiers to break the curse that turned them immortal over a thousand years ago. Two of the three immortals have found love, but their happiness is marred by the possibility of outliving their wives. Draco, the third centurion is probably the most damaged of the three. He is haunted by a horrific past that has hardened his Hispanian heart, turning it to stone.

Draco, the third book in the Immortal Highland Centurions series gives a whole new meaning to a heart-pounding and nail-biting tale. Not only did this dramatic story keep me reading well past my bedtime, I even arose early just so I could finish it and find out what was going to happen to all of the characters I have come to care about. Every scene in this very well written book seemed to leap from the page, and I truly wondered how author Jayne Castel was going to pull out any kind of happy ending. Needless to say, I'm not going to give away the ending. To find out, you will just have to read this historically set love story. Trust me, you will not be disappointed.

Lastly, if you enjoy knowing the interesting historical facts within the fiction, be sure to take the time to read Jayne's Historical Notes that follows this engrossing read.

Content 411: This book contains some mild swearing, some medieval violence and some mildly described sexually intimate scenes.

Jayne Castel brings this epic trilogy to it’s close magnificently! The stories of these three immortal men have been just fantastic and beautifully written. Draco’s tale is an incredible story that will leave you sitting on the edge of your seat, breathless from the sweeping blood shed and betrayal to the passion and romance.

A talented writer with the ability to transport you to another place in time, Jayne not only transports you she empowers you with the ability to see and feel the range of emotions of her characters. Great world building and her imagery is top notch.

Her characters are wonderfully developed with all the emotions, fears and vulnerabilities of men who have lived, loved and lost for over a thousand years and the prospect of living forever.

Draco is one such man, determined to solve the riddle and break the curse he guards his heart and lives life as a warrior. Lady Gavina has just escaped an abusive marriage and has no intentions of entering into another. Good people driven by the pain they’ve suffered, thrown together by fate must find a way forward together. Their happily ever after was hard fought and hard won. I cried as they found their way to one another.

This was such a wonderful series, a fabulous tale of adventure and misadventure, dangers, betrayal and romance. The imagery, descriptions, and dialogue were just perfect for this fast paced, action packed tale. I loved watching Draco’s hardened heart come to life again.

Thank you so much Jayne for such an exciting, fascinating series and Draco’s tale was the perfect culmination. I can’t wait to see what comes next.

4 Stars (Jayne Castel, Ashe Barker, Cecelia Mecca, Kerrigan Byrne)

my personal markers for a great read...1. smart and engaging writing, 2. Humorous, 3. sexy interactions, 4. stories with family/friends and 5. I’ll end up reading the book again and again.

I love series around family members or a group of friends. I love the series even more when the author intertwines those characters throughout the book series (it’s a pet peeve when authors don’t do that because what’s the point of the series and introducing the characters if they are not going to interact throughout the series). the past characters were Intwined nicely in the story.

The development and interest in main characters and secondary characters was enjoyable (enough written about past book H/H to grab your attention). I really did like the H/H for this book; well paired as a couple (reminded me of the book Viper but not a 5 star in my opinion).

writing style is easy to follow, humorous moments, action packed and the give and take dialogue enjoyable...story with a little ‘Scottish magic and historical tales’

I’m not a huge fan of ‘internal dialogue’ in books. I can only take so much. This did not have me doing any skimming.

I loved the writing around the women empowerment (it wasn’t over the top for me). Badass women rock.

romantic/sexual content is written well throughout the book (kissing, oral, love making) I’d rate it 2.5/5 in hotness and steam.

would recommend the book and series. This series needs to be read in its order or you’ll miss the storyline completely.

I couldn't put it down!

I don't know how Jayne Castel does it? Her characters worm their way into my heart and once I start reading one of her books, I can't put it down until I am finished. Finally, the third book in the trilogy was made available as an ARC, and it was the perfect ending for the Immortal Centurions.

After reading, Cassian, I suspected that Draco would fall in love with Gavina, but it was not as straight-forward as I suspected. There were several twists and turns that had me worried about the outcome of the curse.

This third installment had more angst than the rest, which is something I love in a book. Draco's back story was heart-breaking, as it slowly unfolds during the course of the book. His reluctance to open up and feel happiness is explained, and in Gavina, he finds his soul mate because she too has been beaten down by life and has closed herself off. They are reluctant to let down their shields, but they are exactly what each other needs.

The attack on Dunnottar Castle was frightening and suspenseful, but it is so well written that I kept stopping and Goggling things I had never known. I don't know how a book can be so entertaining, adventurous, romantic and yet so informative at the same time.

I absolutely loved this series and highly recommend it! I don't think Jayne Castel can write a bad book.

Although the first 2 books in this series were excellent, I think Jayne Castel has outdone herself with Draco's story. Wow, talk about sitting on the edge of my seat, so much happens throughout the story!! Battles are fought, a curse needs to be broken and two hearts struggle to make sense of the passion between them....after all, they don't even like each other, do they?!!

Draco is one of 3 Centurions who were cursed to be immortal centuries ago and unless they can solve the riddle to break the curse, they will continue to be immortal and have to watch their loved ones die. They've figured out most of the riddle and now need to solve the last line...."When the White Hawk and the Dragon wed". I cried when I read the Prologue and found out what had happened to Draco, it's no wonder he's the way he is!!

Gavina, the Lady of Dunnottar, has been widowed for only a month when she finds out she's part of the answer to the riddle. She really resists having to marry into another loveless marriage but she knows her friends are relying on her to do the right thing. What surprises her is the passion that flares up between her and Draco!

I also enjoyed the historical events that go on with William Wallace, King Edward and the fight for Dunnottar and the Scottish people.

This book is my favorite and the best of the series! I highly recommend both, as well as the author's many other exciting and well-written works! Right from the first page I was hooked and needed to know how it ended!

After reading Cassian, I was really excited about this one. I loved the characters - especially our main H/h. I wasn't sure what to expect because of how our H had been described in the first two books and his initial relationship to our h, but I was looking forward to finding out more, and I was not disappointed - not one bit. Matter of fact, I think our H is the best man out of the trio. Our h was strong and lovely, someone who wasn't afraid to stand her ground despite the challenges - and there were plenty. Everything about this book was so wonderfully well-written. You can feel the character's desperation, pain, fear, and vulnerability. The characters themselves became real and you wanted nothing but their happiness.

There's something about the way Castel writes her books and characters that makes you feel wholesome, especially with the reoccurring themes of redemption, salvation, compassion, sacrifice, and love that draws the series to a perfectly well-deserved ending. I can't wait to read more of her works!

Draco was my favourite book of all the Immortal Highland Centurions series, which were all wonderful by the way.
Cursed by a witch, Draco and his friends Maximus and Cassian are doomed to live forever unless they can break this spell.
Having cracked most of the curse, Draco is shocked to discover that he and Lady Gavina are the last part to this riddle, and to break the curse they must marry.
He is also even more aggrieved because he has shut his heart down to love and Gavina although attracted to the handsome, muscular centurion, has just found peace and escape from a marriage without love, and does not want another loveless relationship.
Draco finds Gavina beautiful but aloof, although he is drawn to her, but only love will break this curse and there is not much time left before the bright star will disappear for another seventy years.
Max and Cass are depending on him, but can he finally open his heart to love and let happiness in, only time will tell.
I absolutely loved this series and Draco's story was the icing on the cake!
Jayne Castel's beautifully descriptive writing and dialogue with strong and likeable characters pulls this story together in an unforgettable way.
Fabulous!

Dragon, White Hawk, Witches, Curses. What More Could You Want? Oh Yes Heat.
Lightening fast paced story from the first page.
An Exhilarating and terrifying escape attempt for Draco that doesn't go to well.
His life goes on for another 100 years or so and then comes the reunion of the Centurions
Maximus, Cassian, and Draco are now on the path of finding the last clue to the curse.
After discovering the last clue things do not look good for the Centurions.
The Dragon and the White Hawk are not on friendly terms and are now destined
to a future of unknown consequences.
Draco and Gavina take on the curse with a bit of angst towards each other but thing are about to change.
We now follow them on their remarkable journey of heroism that involves battles, romance, truths,
witches, a sensuous first love scene that had my attention, intimacy after marriage, and more.
A heart pounding battle, heated passion, love, brotherhood along with a few surprises.
Good epilogue, sexy cover picture,
Draco can be a stand alone but you really don't want to miss the 3 Centurions.
Maximus, Cassian, Draco.
One hell of a read.

Jayne and Tim have a winner with this series! I have enjoyed this from the beginning and continue to follow her throughout this series! The Immortal Highland Centurions Series is one of the best Medieval Scottish Romance out there and not one to be missed! It is wonderfully written and visually stimulating with the words to carry it through. The struggles Jayne has overcome is breathtaking to say the least. She is one heck of a strong woman to have been through and the journey for her is only begun so to say. Draco a warrior whom shall be written within the history books as such but also a true hero. To be led then to lead is historic in itself as the trials and tributes to him shall attest. He is a remarkable character and with him are the the first two Centurions, Magnus and Cassian. It is best to read this series in order. You get the full story within the story and as I said earlier in my review these men are NOT TO BE MISSED! SO grab your heart and come for one heck of a ride within you will be left speechless and your heart and soul touched by these amazing characters!

Immortal Highland Centurions

This serie of Jaynes Castel books is a mixture of imperial Rome and Scottish highlands vibes. The legend of the ninth's legion or else the Hispana legion' s disappearance mixed with 14th century Scotland. Quite intriguing a plot. Needless to say that I binge-read them one by one. My fav was the story of Drago and Gavinia's. Drago heartless as a granite, broody sulky an ever been soldier reckless with himself but also caring for his brothers eternal companions of the same curse. Of course there is a curse all along the plot casted at their last stand against the picts, from a  powerful druiddess. Cursed to walk this earth until the riddle curse is solved. That is their last chance and Drago with Gavinia must do their part. Gavinia dutiful daughter, and wife ( now widow )of a laird that scorned her must sacrifice her newly acquired freedom in order to save her friends. Jayne Castel has done her best with the characters, with the environment of medieval Scotland. There is intrigue, secrets to enravel, bravery, freedom fighting but also greed lust power but also love which prevails. My fav. couple indeed.

I received an ARC from the author thru Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving my review. There is a curse to be broken and Draco and Gavina are fated to do just that. This is a medieval story of immortality and the chance for a single lifetime of love. Draco is empty, dead inside, due to all the years of living. He knows that he must break the curse. His friends deserve to have it lifted. Draco and Gavina do not want to be together. The fighting pushes them to spend time together and soon they cannot deny their growing attraction. This book is full of drama, danger, fighting, twists and turns, lust and then love. I thought it was a really good story that takes you away and immerses you into their lives so well. It was hard fought, but these two finally get the future that they deserve.

Draco cannot believe he has to marry a woman he doesn’t like to break the curse. He sealed his heart off many years ago but to break the curse it only says they have to marry.
Lady Gavina has just escaped her loveless, humiliating marriage and certainly doesn’t intend to marry another cold-hearted man.
Dunnottar Castle is under siege by the English King and all inside know that eventually the walls will be breached, and they will all die and she knows of the curse and her two friends will die while their husbands will rise again with the dawn, heartbroken.
Eventually, they agree to marry but breaking the curse is not as simple as they thought.
Wow, I absolutely loving this series, it is such an unusual concept and the three men although they are cursed together, each has a very different story to tell.

Awesome!

What a fantastic ending to the series involving the three centurions of the Roman Empire. The final book, 'Draco' completes the series in a most spectacular fashion. The last centurion, Draco, also caught under the spell of immortality leads us on an adventure trying to solve the riddle that will release them from the curse. Will the curse finally be broken so the three may live as mortals once again? This final book is packed with heart stopping action, suspense and heartbreaking romance leaving you with a deep connection to the characters. Scenes are so well written that you feel you are in the middle of it all. I can't say enough wonderful things about the book and the series. Loved, loved, loved it!!! I highly recommend.

This book, WOW. Draco was the book I've been waiting to read, it had everything; love, passion, hate, loss, joy, magic, and family.

*Spoilers*

Draco and Gavina are the perfect enemy to lovers story. They hate first, marry second, and fall in love third. These two characters are written with such depth that you feel as if you're walking in their shoes, you feel empathy for their trials and tribulations, you feel fear when Draco falls in battle, and you feel their love when they realize they are their perfect mate.

This book concludes the trilogy with an awe inspiring plot, an amazing assortment of characters, and an epilogue that leaves you with a sense of peace and joy.

This book is over 5⭐, it's wonderful.

Loved this entire series. I was going to read Draco as a stand alone, and it can be, but I wouldn't recommend it. It is much more robust if the others are read first. I love that there was a unique spin on the immortal genre. I loved the imperfections of the H/h, especially since they came by their imperfections honestly through experience. Jayne's writing breathes life into them. Draco and Gavina had more depth and complexity than the other two couples, which was especially gratifying given how they are cast in the first books as seemingly less so. Their relationship snuck up on them both, in their selfless pursuit to save their friends, proving to be deeper and more intimate for the trouble. What a lovely wrap up to the series. I receive an ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Wow! What an excellent finale for this series. Draco who along with his two friends are under a curse to live forever. He is dead yes but also feels dead inside with no feelings for anything. Due to war with Longshanks he has to work with Lady Gavina who herself has been abused and deeply hurt by her dead husband. They must work together to save Dunotter Castle from the English. But with working together can they each overcome the past and find happiness? Also could this be the key to breaking the curse?

This was an excellent read. She is a fantastic writer! Looking forward to more from her!

Gavina and Draco’s story. Will the thousand year old curse be broken? Gavina’s husband has been dead for a short time and Edward of England is storming the castle. The don’t stand a chance against the weapon called the Hammer, but two of the immortal centurions know they will lose against Edward and they don’t want to go on living while their wives die. So they convince Draco and Gavia that they must wed in order to break the curse. But Draco and Gavina are resistant. They don’t want to be forced to marry someone they don’t love. And will their marriage really break the curse? I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review

I loved this 3-book series of the immortal highland centurions. Each book had well-developed, truly likeable characters; great dynamics among the characters; and a riveting plot. I especially liked this third book, the story of Draco and Gavina. Ms. Castel did an excellent job of showing their pain, making it impossible for readers not to sympathize with them and making their love story all the sweeter. In addition, the ending tied everything up for all three couples with a HEA for them all.

There were a few typos. The word savior was once used when it should have been savor. But these errors were few and far between and did not diminish my enjoyment of this well-written story.

Will the curse be broken?

This is the final installment of The Immortal Highland Centurions trilogy. It is important because this is the last chance for Maximus, Cassian and Draco to break the curse of immortality.

The three men have noted the signs once more: the Broom-star, Halley's Comet, is visible in the night sky. Therefore, all three have made their way to Dunnottar Castle, the next part of the curse-breaking riddle.

Draco arrives with William Wallace who is being pursued by King Edward I. When Edward eventually hears that Wallace is at Dunnottar, he lays siege to the castle. Only one more requirement must be fulfilled for the curse to be broken.
