Singletree #5

Falling into Forever

Rate this book
I had it all. Killer job, to-die-for apartment overlooking the Hudson, and the successful, doting boyfriend.

Well, he was successful, at least. Guys who dote don’t break up with you via Post-It.

After that, I did the one thing I swore I’d never do. I went home to the smallest small town there is—a place so backward my family was still engaging in a hundreds-of-years-old feud with the Tuckers. Maybe it had evolved from the days of shooting one another to slightly more benign things, like filling family stores with crickets and moving a two-ton moose around town. But still.

This was not NYC.

It was meant to be a stop-over. But when a little old lady died suddenly and left her dilapidated haunted house to me, things got complicated. Because she didn’t just leave the house to me. She left it to me and Michael Tucker jointly.

Because who doesn’t want to live in a haunted house with their sworn enemy?

Only I’m not sure Michael Tucker is my enemy. In fact, he’s turning out to be kind of… hot. In a strong single dad kind of way.

And I’m not sure how much I really want to get back to New York City, anyway.

Falling into Forever is the fifth book in Delancey Stewart’s Singletree – a series of interconnected stand-alone romcoms that will charm you and make you swoon. It’s a book about haunted houses, making choices, and re-thinking the things we’ve been told about other people all our lives.

I'm USA Today Bestselling author Delancey Stewart. My contemporary romances run the gamut of settings and setups, but they always deliver humor, heart and heat. It's a guarantee.

I write from my home in Denver, CO, where I manage a household full of boys and men. Okay, only one man. The hubs. But two boys. I mean, three if you count the hubs. (You see why I do words and not numbers. I was told there'd be no math in this bio. Someone lied.)

I grew up in California and have had more jobs than anyone on earth (personal trainer, pharmaceutical rep, copywriter, tech writer, marketing director, wine seller, elementary school teacher... I'm not kidding. The list. It goes on.) But the one I love the most is writing, in part because I get to meet people who love books and stories as much as I do! RATING 4.5 STARS

Falling into Forever is book five in the Singletree series by Delancey Stewart. This is the first book in this series I have read and it was fine. It can easily be read as a stand alone. This is a perfect book to read if you are looking for a seasonal autumn themed romance but in truth, it’s a wonderful book for any time of the year.

Addison Tanner is thirty five years old. She had left her tiny home town of Singletree as soon as she could and now lived in New York. She had been in a relationship for the past eight years, thinking it was going to be forever, until it wasn’t. Her boyfriend had other ideas and actually broke up with her via post it note! Now she is back in Singletree, trying to figure out what’s next in her life while staying with her mother and helping out at her mom’s bakery.

Michael Tucker is thirty years old and is a single dad to his twelve year old son, Daniel. Michael runs the town’s farm store. He and his ex-wife have shared custody of their son but his ex-wife is not a pleasant co-parent. Michael has dedicated his life to being the best dad he can to his son and also keeping his ex off his back because she loves nothing more than to throw around threats.

In Singletree, the Tuckers and Tanners have been in a centuries long feud. No one even remembers why or how it started. Only that they can’t stand each other. There is a huge house in the middle of town that in its day was grand but now is in dire need of repair. When the old woman that owns it sadly passes away, she wills it to both Michael and Addison with the stipulation that they live together in the house for six months while fixing it up. This arrangement is much to the dismay of both of these families. And the more time these two spend together, working together, eating together, living together, they begin to find a spark, they begin to feel something both of them had given up on. They begin to fall for one another. But Addison’s life is still in New York. She never intended to stay in Singletree permanently. And Michael’s life is here with his son. Could there ever be future for them, both from opposite sides of feuding families? Or is this just a little bubble of time, giving them a glimpse of a life they can never have?

“Addie was like a bright spot that had appeared in an otherwise dark sky.”

This was such a cute, sweet, fun story. I loved getting to know these two and their families. The town of Singletree sounds like such an awesome place. And the house sounds amazing. I enjoyed this so much!

Falling Into Forever by Delancey Stewart
I absolutely loved this latest installment in the Singletree Series!

Michael is a super-hot dad complete with corny dad jokes, whose main focus is his son.

Addison has come home to Singletree after her long time boyfriend has left and her fabulous job is all but gone.

When they help an old woman, sparks fly, but it turns out their families are feuding. Yes, a true family feud full of pranks including a moose and furniture on the ceiling! Let’s not forget a haunted house, and ex-wife and incompetent cousins. Mix it all together and you have Delancey Stewart’s latest rom com, and I dare you not to laugh out loud! What a wonderful escape from the craziness of the world! If you haven’t read Delancey Stewart yet, what are you waiting for?

Y’all...the dad jokes, lol, I love them! I was quite happy to go back to Singletree and even though I thought I would have nothing in common except for being the same age as Addie...I have had all the same feelings both she and Mike have had. The good and the bad of needing to feel loved and needed and told I’m doing good job.
But along with all the feelings, you have small town shenanigans, a creepy gnome, and a potential haunted house with a ghost. I was legit scared a few times, I had to actually check to see what book I was actually reading, lol.
So yeah, Addie and Michael’s story has it all!

~ I was given this book and made no commitments to leave my opinions, favorable or otherwise~

My, oh my. What a perfect topic for October. A haunted house, a family feud so ingrained in the two families that it continues even if noone even can remember why it started. A love story defying war and time. Strange animals, a two ton moose on the loose? A single dad with the lamest dad jokes, an adventurous kid, a relatable slightly sad heroine and a village you would want to live in even if it’s small and quaint.

There are so much going on. Character growth that will make you swoon and maybe cry a little. I’m not sure but you might even start to question your own life choices. A vulnerable, wonderful hero, a slightly older woman with a need to prove herself and a vintage camaro. (spoiler alert!)

Get your blanket, your favorite drink of choice, maybe even a snack or two, because when you fall into this book, you will never want to leave.

I loved Falling into Forever. This is a fantastic romance story. The characters are wonderful and have great chemistry. I love the plot of them fixing up the old haunted house and all the family drama. I enjoyed how their relationship grew as they lived in the house and fixed it up. This book captured my attention right from the beginning and I did not want to put it down. A great romance story. I highly recommend this book.

Completely fell in love with Michael and Addison, right from the beginning. Both are on different sides of a family feud, that no one really knew how it started. This story has covered so many areas--suspense, humor, and of course some heat. Great read!

Really wonderful story. Addison and Michael are each members of two rival families in Singletree. Addison has landed back in Singletree after chasing a life in NYC and that life crashing down around her. Michael is a lifelong resident of Singletree; he’s made mistakes that he still, at age 30, is penalizing himself for; he’s a great Dad to 12 year ld Dan, and he runs his family’s farm supply store. What brings these two together is their act as good samaritans. They are bequeathed a house that has been deemed haunted, needs renovations and has some questionable house guests. Their adventure together is as much a self journey for each of them as it is a romance. I really enjoyed the story and the message that it’s never too late to start fresh!

I absolutely loved being back in Singletree!

Michael and Addie story, oh and not forgetting Dan this has been my favourite of the series! I loved their chemistry from the minute they had their chance encounter for them then to discover they are members of the feuding Tucker and Tanner family!

With all that family drama they are never meant to be friends. But when they find themselves co-owners of a run down haunted house maybe these two will be the ones to end the family feud!

With some appearances from some familiar faces along with some new furry friends Falling into Forever is a must read story! So sad to see this series end!

Fresh new take on the enemies-to-lovers trope! Delancey spiced it up with forced co-habitation in a haunted house and a tell-it-how-it-is 12 year old. Michael is a hero with vulnerability and I am here for it! It's so unusual in romance to have a hero who struggles with self-worth and doubt, and it is beautifully and honestly done.

Read it! You won't regret it.

Addison/Addie, 35, had recently broken up with her long term boyfriend in New York City and returned to the small town where she grew up. Michael was about 5 years younger and had been born in this town, married, had a son, divorced and still lived in town. Michael shared custody of his 12 year old son with his ex wife and he made his son’s happiness his first priority, even to the point of not considering his own happiness. There has been a long standing feud between Addie’s family and Michael’s family but they don’t really feel like they are part of the feud. When an elderly lady who was a relative of both families in the feud dies she leaves her old neglected family mansion jointly to Addie and Michael specifying that they fix it up and each must live there for 6 months before they can sell it. They start working together cleaning and fixing up the house despite the strange nighttime noises and they grow closer. Will Addie learn to trust Michael despite her experience with her past boyfriend? Will Michael realize that he can allow himself happiness with Addie and still be a dedicated and loving father to his son?

I give this well written story 4.5 stars. Both Addie and Michael had been hurt by past relationships and had to let themselves be open to finding love. They grew close while they were fixing up the old mansion and dealing with the feuding families. The epilogue was a great ending for their story.

This is book five in the Singletree series. You can read and enjoy this book without reading the other books in the series. I've only read book three and I never felt I was missing something. Since the books are centered around the people who live in the town of Singletree you will come across characters who have already had their stories. I really enjoyed this story and am planning on picking up the other books in the series. This story is a well written, witty, steamy and all around enjoyable read. The story is told in alternating POVs of Addison and Michael.

Addison is home in Singletree after her boyfriends eight years dumps her and she had a mini meltdown in front of her job. She's home to think about things and figure out what she wants to do with her life. Michael is running the family hardware store and sharing custody of his 12 year old son with his ex-wife Shelly. I was not a fan of Shelly's. She's snotty, rude, and very manipulative. Michael is a Tucker and Addison is a Tanner. Their families had been feuding for as long as anyone can remember and no one knows why the feud started. When Michael and Addison receive a house and money to renovate it, it comes the agreement that both parties will stay in the houses or at least months before the house can be sold. Can a Tucker and a Tanner live and work together to fix the house? What happens when they start having feelings for each other, could they end the family feud?

4.5 Stars for Falling into Forever
This is the first book I have read by Delancey Stewart and I’m really at a loss as to why she hasn’t crossed my radar before now, we’ll that’s going to change as soon as time permits because I need to read more from this talented author. As soon as I read that this was a single parent tale I know it was going to be right up my street and I wasn’t disappointed because Addison and Michael Tucker’s story ticked all my boxes.
Addison is back home in Singletree after being dumped, it’s only meant to be a flying visit to give her some breathing space but when Addison is left a old haunted house she needs to make a life changing decision, will she stay or will she go....
The decision to stay or go will not only decide Addison’s fate because the house was left jointly to her and single dad Michael Tucker and the inheritance insists they both live in the house for 6 months....
Feuding families that go back so many years, no one really knows what caused the problem in the first place are bought together in this entertaining read, The characters are adorable and there are some great jokes that only a child can deliver. I loved this town and I certainly need to read the previous books in the series, Falling into Forever is book 5 but I’m prove it can be read and enjoyed as a stand-alone so if small town romance is your thing I urge you to one click this gem.

This is the 5th book in this series and is Mike and Addison’s story. Mike is a dedicated single dad of a 12-year old son, and Addie returns to her small hometown when her long time boyfriend broke up with her, and her fabulous job is gone, and she only intended to visit for a little while. When an old lady passes away, she leaves her house, a haunted one albeit, with a resident ghost, jointly to Mike and Addie, which forces them to work and live together. Problem being that their two families have been feuding for hundreds of years, and no-one can remember why. This is a well written story which has crazy antics and shenanigans, family drama, animals, enemies / lovers, relatable characters, and is a humorous, entertaining, romantic, and steamy read. I look forward to reading more from this talented author, whose work I highly recommend for all.

I love this series and Michael and Addie were perfect together. Michael is trying to be the best father he can be, to the detriment of his own happiness. Addie had come home after her long term boyfriend dumped her. when they inherit a house together it throws the whole town in to a tizzy. There is a long standing feud going on between their families, even though they want no part of it.
As they renovate the house, they get closer and realize that what they thought they wanted might not be what they want anymore. They have obstacles; the feud, her each to leave town again, his ex, a threat about custody and their own insecurities. I loved Danny and all of the family members added a great deal to the story. A wonderful book.

The Hatfields and McCoys? Romeo and Juliet? None of those families have anything on the Tanners and Tuckers. The feud has been going on for longer than anyone can remember and no one can remember what actually started it. When Michael and Addie meet up helping Mrs. Easter, you know something will happen between them. The other stories I've read in Singletree have always been wonderful, touching stories and like them, this one doesn't disappoint. You have the families feuding and Addie and Michael working to fix up an old mansion. Daniel is a great kid who is wise beyond his years yet still exudes youthful joy. Addie needs to find her place and figure out what she wants to do with her life and Michael needs to learn he has a right to be happy. There are a few surprises along the way, ex's still affecting our main characters' lives and the haunting of ghosts. The book was fun, sweet and has a couple of HEAs.

4 Star Review Falling Into Forever by Delancey Stewart
Delancey Stewart is a new author to me and I have no ideas why I have not come across her before. I love single parent stories and Falling Into Forever ticked a lot of boxes for me. Having been dumped recently Addison returns home to Singletree. She has no plans to stay but fate works in mysterious ways and when Addison is left a haunted house she may well decide to stay. The only problem is the inheritance is to be shared with single dad Michael Tucker whose family and Addision’s have a continuing feud.
There were times that I found myself laughing so much that my husband thought I was crazy. Add in the “dad” jokes, another thing my husband does and I found myself either laughing out loud or groaning and rolling my eyes.
I also love stories set in a small town so this was an added bonus. Overall this was an entertaining read that left me with a smile on my face.

I laughed so much over the back and forth pranks between the Tuckers and the Tanners. They were both really creative; moving the moose statue around, leaving derogatory signs about each other, the scent bombs on the guys, and more. Addie Tanner and Michael Tucker are jointly left an old house by Filene Easter that needs a lot of work and one of the requirements of the will is them each living in it for six months. The house provides plenty of scary noises and I wouldn't have made it through one night. Addie and Michael find letters showing Filene was the daughter of a Tucker and a Tanner and that she sees them as the key to ending the hundred year old feud between the families. Michael's son Daniel assists with their investigation and he's a good kid with a great idea for the creepy gnome. This was the perfect Halloween themed story with plenty of steamy and funny moments.

Old feud and haunted house
3.5
The basis of the story is not very romantic, described between old feud and haunted house, but it is a romance, with a well-written narrative, although I sometimes found the pace slow. However, this slow side is compensated by a more mysterious side, for which one doubts between bad jokes, paranormal or manipulation towards the characters.
Michaël and Addison are the 2 descendants of 2 families who have had a quarrel for more than 100 years, yet they are forced to work and cohabit together for an inheritance. Both come out of relationships for which they have been betrayed or disappointed and having to cohabit with a family enemy, even attractive is more than complex.
In the end, the story is more tender than scary :)

Falling Into Forever was my first read by Delancey Stewart and it was a pleasant surprise.
I was intrigued by the premise of the book and was looking forward to reading it.

The Tuckers and Tanners are feuding families coexisting in a small town. Addison and Michael are supposed to be enemies and absolutely NOT attracted to one another.

Things get complicated when a sweet and meddling old lady wills them her home - the town’s haunted house. Forcing them to cohabitate and collaborate in order to get their inheritance, means that Mike and Addie have to face the reality of their growing attraction.

Falling Into Forever is a sweet single dad, enemies to lovers, with a smidge of suspense romance read. If this is your jam, then this is definitely the book for you.

Great story for Halloween or Anytime.
Delaney Stewart continues to writing amazing love stories and this book is a perfect example. Addison is an accomplished woman who has been living in New York City with a successful profession and Luke, her boyfriend or should I say ex boyfriend. She decided to go home to Singletree, MD while she regroup. But during that time her and Michael Tucker are made trustees of a Victorian Mansion that has sat empty for over thirty years. There are provisions, restrictions, et.al. For both her and Michael to adhere to.
So they move into the haunted house and let the fun and romance begin.
This was a wonderful read as the storyline flowed from chapter to chapter without it getting bogged down with minor subplots.
I’m definitely recommending this book for your reading enjoyment. I read it in one day but it’s a fun read regardless how long one takes to read. Peace.

I thought this book was simply delightful! This book easy captured my attention and my heart. I fell for Michael and Addison as they fell for each other. Trust me when I say that the feels are abundant with this duo because these characters often come across as almost painfully genuine. I found these characters immensely likable and I loved watching as their relationship, feelings and yes, even the characters themselves evolved. The storyline was engaging and entertaining. A smartly crafted blend of emotion, humor, mystery, drama, small town charm, zany shenanigans in combination with such amazing characters make for a book that was a wonderful read. This is my independent, impartial review.

This was a good read. Addison and Michael are given a house to share. The problem is that the families have been feuding for decades. Then on top of that they believe that the house is haunted. Things get crazy and complicated but in the end they get a happy ending.

I really enjoyed this story. Addie moved back home when her boyfriend dumped her and she had no place to live. When an old haunted house was left to her and her family's rival, she gets to know the man she has only seen from afar. Her mother was not happy that she would even consider it, but she really wanted out of her mother's house. The two families played pranks on each other and some were not very nice. The feud had been going on for decades. They were wildly attracted to each other, but she didnt think she was staying so hated to act on it - until she did.
This was a slow brewing love story that will warm your heart

This is the first book I read in the Singletree Series, I now need to go back and read the first 4.

Michael, the sexy single dad to his sweet little boy, that is the main focus in his life. Addison, the hometown sweetheart has come back to Singletree after her life changed drastically. These two have fabulous chemistry and humor, the bad dad jokes were the best. With all the family drama they were just never meant to be, or at least they thought? The storyline flows so well together, their adventure together restoring the haunted house they co-own, might just end the long time family feud.

A sweet & charming romantic book about feuding families, starting again and second chances. Addison (FMC) and Michael put their family differences aside when they both inherit a house that they both have to live in together. Which in itself brings on some complications, a scary ghost and a few laughs. I loved Dan (Michael's son) he was smart and witty kid. I couldnt help but love Addison and Michael as well as hope they got their own HEA ending. A great read

This is a cute romance with the long bitter feud between the Tuckers and Tanners in Singletree. Addie Tanner comes back from New York after her long relationship with Luke fell apart where she runs into Michael Tucker on the street when they both help a elderly woman when she fell on the street. A few days later they are called into a lawyers office where they find out that she left them her run down mansion with money to restore it the only catch is they have to both live in the mansion for six months complete the repairs before they can sell it. This is funny sexy and down right romantic as they struggle with their feelings for each other and their families acts of revenge on each other.

"For long, delicious moments, we kissed, our mouths confirming that every desire I had for this woman was reciprocated..."

A Tanner and a Tucker - kissing?? Unheard of. The families have been feuding for a hundred years. Actively - as in pranks done that are funny and even evil. But now Addison and Michael have been forced to work, and live, together. It's the craftiest of matchmaking, for sure.

Michael is a dad who takes that job very seriously. He doesn't allow himself a social life. Addison is coming off a hard break up. Being involved in a house project with good looking Michael Tucker is a definite challenge for Addison.

This is a wonderful story about a (possible) haunted house, enemies to lovers and families coming together.
