Meh, didn't like this one as much as the second. The human was the alpha in the relationship. So, he was ridiculously over the top all of the time to make it seem like he was capable of being the alpha over a fucking wolf. That's right. He's tougher than a werewolf.

I think reading these books back to back isn't doing them any favors. The sameness is draining. There's always the dominant partner and the submissive one.
At least in this one, the dominant partner, Robson, is human.
Marcus, a wolf shifter and one of the pack enforcers, is rigid and shy, but his wolf calls out for Robson.
Their relationship is sweet and sexy, although I'm still scratching my head about why they moved in with Robson's family instead of living in Marcus's house, especially since they both work for the pack.
There is not a whole lot of plot in this installment, and what little there is doesn't jive.
Marcus receives the mysterious letter from the dead council member (still no word on how he died). Apparently he's the only one who can decipher the code, as no one else even tries.
The letter is underwhelming, and Wendy, the woman who risked her life to deliver it, is whisked off to the hospital, like she's disposable. She's Marcus's friend, but he doesn't mention her again.
I was confused as to why the witch who took over delivery arrived at the same time as half-dead Wendy, even when she insisted he leave her and just take the letter. Did he carry her after all?

This gurl can write shifter books I tell you!!!! 😍😫❤
I had read that this was her best one of the series yet and I agree. We have two characters: a wolf shifter and a human deputy, both are really alpha males, one is really calm and likes control and the other is wild and really strong, also they are mates... *dramatic pause* LOVE IT! God they were so fluffy I'm gonna die!!! 😍🥰
The reason why I say that Kiki knows her stuff on this trope is because yes they are mates, but they didn't jump into the relationship right away. For starters there was a human involved so the pull wasn't the same, because of this the relationship went slow, they started a little bit on the bad side with each other, doubts and stuff and then they talked and dated a bit and fell in love and I must say, *grabs her pearls* the first sex scene was 🔥🔥🔥, jesus take the wheel. 😵❤
I must point some stuff that caught my attention:
1. Marcus was portrayed as a strong character with stoic mannerisms, even though his thoughts ain't that way, but when the relationship started he changed of course only with Robson, but the author stopped showing him as strong, efficient and blablabla in front of others, so Marcus came across as weak and whiny wich he is not.
2. Latin stuff, Kiki did a great job of it, I loved hearing all the Spanish stuff BUT, and this is the second time that I read it in a book, the word "gilipollas", in my knowledge, it's not used in latin America, only in Spain, and not we are not the same. This is book 3 of Kiki Clark’s Kincaid Pack series. While each book covers a couple’s/poly’s romantic arc - there’s an ongoing mystery/suspense that weaves through the books. As such, these should be enjoyed in order and this review may contain spoilers to earlier books.
2023 Update: I've listened to this numerous times and the interesting thing is that what I considered negatives my first time through are some of my favorite parts. This has quickly become my favorite of the entire series.
I liked Marcus & Robson, but the pacing of their relationship sort of lulled at times. Then the series arc of the mystery/suspense wasn't as strong or frequent. So this one was much less angst & compelling in that aspect.
I did enjoy the fact that Robson was a human and that the dynamic between the two was unique. They had a lot of similarities, but personality and approach to situations were different. I continue to appreciate that while Clark uses a "fated mate" concept - there's no question that these couples get to know and love each other. Marcus & Robson also get their own unique mating. 🔥🔥🔥
I'm really looking forward to The Hunter & His Mates. Yes, its MMM - but mostly I'm really invested in each of the characters individually and am looking forward to their HEA. The biggest question is whether I can wait for audio...
Because Kirt Graves continues to do an amazing job. This series is totally bingeable. All the characters get unique voices and they stay consistent throughout the series. I don't know how he does it because this is a huge group - various genders, accents, personalities, emotions and its as if it were all recorded at one time or with multiple actors. I'm loving his work and am looking forward to more of this series.

I started reading this weeks ago, when it first came out, but Robson was getting on my nerves. I finally decided to finish it. I ended up liking it, but it's not my favorite.
Marcus needed a strong, supportive mate and while Robson does become that for him, I wish he'd gotten there a little sooner. With Marcus's self-doubts, and low self-worth, he really needed Robson to get with the program. It annoyed me that, he didn't necessarily resist, but tended to drag things out. I do realize he was human and wanted to understand things before jumping in with both feet. Impatient me wanted it sooner. 🤷♀️
Now, one positive thing was when Marcus would misunderstand something, Robson was quick to set things straight. And when the time comes, Robson was willing to do what he could to be a mate for Marcus in every sense of the word...good times 😉
I also felt like Rick was a bit of an asshole in this one. I didn't remember him being quite so assholeish in the others. Maybe I forgot, or blocked it out. He got on my nerves.
I'm ready for the next one...maybe Jamie, Gabriel & Drake???

Can’t wait
So I have seemed to start this series in the middle, yet I wasn’t lost. I do plan on going back to the beginning. This was a good book. Good mystery that has yet been solved and a journey to love. I like a human/ shifter book. This one had everything I look for. Confusion to discovery. I love these two together they defiantly complete each other. Mates. The writing was great the smexy was good and I’m interested in the side characters can’t wait for the next book hope it isn’t going to be what was hinted because then I’d have to skip it.

OMG. I loved Marcus and Robson even more and Kai and a Rick or Bennet and Kieran, and I loved those couples a lot!!
Marcus and Robson where just the cutest and most adorable couple ever. They fit so perfectly is amazing and their story is so very different from the previous ones.
If I had to point something I liked less in this third book was that the action, the subplot of Kincaid pack versus the Council, was less impressive. Its understandable if you think about it... Kai during book one and Kieran during book two where tightly related with all the drama going... Marcus, of the other side, not so much. Yes, he's key at some points and was close to some council members that makes him center of the story, just not as much as Kai and Kieran were, and so, this part of the story doesn't develop much.
The story is more romance centered. But not in a bad sense.
I would have loved to discover more about Marcus upbringing, why his alpha disliked him so much and so on, but even missing things the result is pretty satisfying.
Robson and Marcus are perfect together like that.
I liked how none of them is truly dominating, I mean, usual there's a more dominating one, like Rick and Bennet in comparison with Kai and Kieran. This time, however, there were times in which Marcus was the "delicate and vulnerable" needing Robson's strength, and times the other way around. They feel pretty well balanced and just click so nicely it's amazing.
I can't wait to read the next book, even if I can't deny I'm feeling a little bit anxious about Jamie/Gabriel/Drake. Since Gabriel appeared last book I guessed theirs would be a threesome kind of story. I just hope Kiki knows how to pull it, because it not usually my kind of story but I will help on hope and cross my fingers.

He moved back to help out his mom and family after his dad passed away, but since he's come back he's noticed a lot of odd things happening in town and covering up in the police department and it all seems to culminate around the Kincaids. He's determined to find out what's really going on, but his attraction to Marcus keeps getting in the way.
I really enjoyed this book. I liked Marcus and Robson and felt they had chemistry. The ongoing background story in this series had minimal page time in this book. It's like we're thrown a little bone each book, but it's not big enough to satisfy our curiosity. Which is truly frustrating. There is another book coming soon, but I have no idea if it's the last or there's more after it. I would truly like to read more of the background storyline instead of having it drag on and on.
I have seen the next book has Jamie with Hunter and a second mate. As I don't really care for Jamie as a character and definitely don't like MMM I'm not sure I'll read it. If it's the last book in the series I definitely will just for the closure on the background storyline otherwise I'll skip it and move on to the next book after that if there is one.
The book is in both Marcus and Robson's POV. The angst level is on the high end of low.

It’s been awhile since I read the first two books in this series, so I was afraid I might feel lost; instead, I was instantly sucked back into this world Clark has created. Each book of this series just continues to get better, and the world is being excellently weaved to what I’m expecting will be an explosive conclusion. I absolutely adored Marcus and Robson, their story captivated me to such a point that I stayed up WAY to late after telling myself “just one more chapter” too many times to count. With these two’s start I was worried it wouldn’t work out, but it was all for naught when I saw how sweetly they came together. I could’ve read hundreds of more pages with these two and am looking forward to the next story.

I had some troubles at the beginning with connecting the characters and I really felt gor Marcus.
I was sad to see that he was not really appreciated in the pack .... or at least it seemed that way

A blushing redhead Marcus finds his mate in a human, a deputy who's too curious about Marcus' world.
I enjoyed this couple, with their exploring and learning (although I believe their first time was kind of too much for me, like it could have happened a little later, after they got more intimate, but I guess it's fine).
I loved how both gave each other a new family: Robson gave Marcus a family to warm up to, and Marcus gave Robson a pack and a purpose.
Let's see what happens in the next book.

Oh the names
That's probably the thing this book has going against it for me. I known the author mentioned consulting with others regarding the names and well ... I just didn't really like a couple, one being one of the main characters. Robito. Look I know all about Latinos and how they are about nicknames but this one just.irked me. You have all these cool names for the girls in Robson's family - but you give a baby the most basic name in Spanish there is ? No hate, it happens to be my middle name. But how can you have a Valentina and Annalisse, followed by a Maria ?? Last in my list of "meh" parts of the book, I don't understand the author making a big enough deal about the whole culture research she did, thanking all the people she consulted with, when it ended up being such a non thing. I expected to read about a solid idk, second generation Latino family, because from what I gathered in the book (because the culture issue was so minimal), that’s what they were. Yet I got nothing like that. The closest it came was the amount of people who converge in one house, and that there’s a lot of food. That’s it. If she was going to make such a thing of it, again, based on her whole thank you note, then it was lacking. It had so much room to be a great part of the story. But honestly, remove the little bit of Spanish and you’d never even know they were a Latino family.
In spite of that, I did like the main couple in this book more than the previous ones. I like them separately and together. There really wasn't a lot of.action happening in this book, so it was a particularly easy read. Some cute and funny parts, some sad ones. Not bad, not terrible. I loved the puppy pile scene. Marcus definitely tugs at my heartstrings. I wasn’t sure I liked him before but I definitely see him differently now. Robson was ok. I think he was a pretty solid mate for Marcus. I really appreciate that they communicated and he wouldn’t let Marcus get too wrapped up in stuff. Not big conflict in this one to be honest, no actual battles or great discoveries. I will definitely read the next one in this series because surprisingly- I don’t dislike this author. May not sound like it, but Honestly, I like her LOL

THE DEPUTY AND THE ENFORCER gives readers a change of pace with a human and shifter pairing between Marcus and the town’s deputy, Robson Medina. Because Robson is human there’s a lot of history and information that gets explained about shifters. Some of it we already learned in previous books but it all helped round everything out.
Marcus was such a sweet guy and I liked seeing him come out of his shell a bit and loosen up. He was still reserved and awkward around others, but he's beginning to trust and let his walls down. He has such a gentle heart and so much love to give but his old pack has damaged his confidence. I liked that his personality didn't completely change after finding his mate but he’s definitely more comfortable.
What I struggled with a bit in this book was actually Robson. He starts out as a jerk and he makes some pretty rude comments about his brother-in-law's behavior, before he knows that Patrick is a shifter. He basically butts in and takes over the class even though he has no knowledge of sex between shifters and I found this to be annoying and heavy handed.
What saves Robson's character is that he starts to recognize some of his poor behavior and do better. Also the way he cares for Marcus and constantly boosts Marcus's confidence is really sweet. While he occasionally annoyed me personally I never doubted how much he loved Marcus.
As a bonus I love the secondary characters in this series, especially Tashmica! I love that she’s such a prominent side character because she's such a strong woman and a witch. I also can't wait to see where things go with charming hunter Gabriel and all his flirting with Jamie.

Marcus was such a sweet guy and I liked seeing him come out of his shell a bit and loosen up. He was still reserved and awkward around others, but he's beginning to trust and let his walls down. He has such a gentle heart and so much love to give but his old pack has damaged his confidence. I liked that his personality didn't completely change after finding his mate but he’s definitely more comfortable.
What I struggled with a bit in this book was actually Robson. He starts out as a jerk and he makes some pretty rude comments about his brother-in-law's behavior, before he knows that Patrick is a shifter. I LOVED this book !!
Mini summary:
Robson, a human deputy encounters some of the Kincaid pack at a murder scene and is suspicious of them so he decides to investigate on his own. Marcus is an enforcer for the pack, and was raised very traditional and is a workaholic. When both MCs encounter one another there is a lot of miscommunication and aggravation, both refusing to acknowledge the pull they feel to the other until they can't resist.
My thoughts:
This book was by far my favourite of the series, I'm a proud Latina, so I love some good latine representation <3 Every time Robson called Marcus cariño I melted 😭 I also really liked the two MCs dynamics. Unlike a lot of shifter books that have one character as the really strong alpha and the other weaker, Kiki Clark did a great job of showing a verse couple who share taking the lead and being strong for each other.
One issue I had was that since Robson was human, there was a lot of the book that explained shifter and pack history and because I had just read the other books in the series it felt repetitive. I think this book would have been a better fit as the first book in the series than as the third.
+ Idk if it was just me but the names of the characters also kind of confused me? Robson is depicted as Latino so I found it odd that his name was Robson whereas his siblings had more traditional Spanish names and Marcus' last name was Rivera which is also traditionally a Spanish last name but I don't think he was?

Freckles & Purpose
I wonder if I could sneak my way into the Medina’s house and just forget to leave? Robson’s family is amazing and exactly the home that Marcus needs and deserves. I love Marcus and Robson together. They are an incredible rollercoaster of feels and permanently hold pieces of my heart. “I was lost and miserable before I met you. You give me purpose and make me laugh and have brought so much love and light into my life.” I love, love, love how these two are together: possessive and protective, sizzling chemistry, and best of all, they take care of and look out for the other. Their differences complement and complete. Robson and Marcus are simply perfect and perfect for each other. They’re joy, sweetness, ferocity, hope and love all wrapped together in a fuzzy, precious package that I claim forever.

A great start to the book as always with this series. Robson following Marcus to find out information but it might bite him back. lol
Some scenes l had a laugh as the two conversed. Robson had no idea who Marcus was or maybe what he is. I loved the scene where Robson and the wolf meet unbenoused its Marcus. The story progresses and they learn about each other. A few obstacles to figure out with bonding progesses and all the miss-communications. Meanwhile things are sliding sideways with the paranormal council and for the Kincaid pack. Other things are happening too.
The book is a good one with characters keeping it intresting.
Robson now on thin ice with the police force in a shady cover up two weeks before. Now sleuthing where he's told not to, he'd find trouble.
Marcus was the pack's enforcer who had a shadow watching him.

Oh gosh I liked this!!!
Not as much as I liked Kai and Rick... Because babies, but really close.
I loved how sensitive Marcus was, how untouched-by-the-world... He just felt tailor-made for Robito. Any other time, the waterworks would have irritated the fuck out of me, but for this, it worked.
I really liked who Robson (whyyy??? Lol) was for Marcus. Plus badass human defending his shifter mate so physically? Yes please 🥵🥰🔥🔥🥵🥰
I also liked that it wasn't this big dragged-out "he's a human" trope.
That scene with the "human knot"?? 🥵🥵🔥🔥🥵🥵
Overall: liked it a lot!!!
I still maintain this would have been a 5 🌟 series for me if it had mpreg.

This might be my favorite book in the series so far! I'm such a sucker for the secret keeping and human only slowly learning about the shifter world plot.
And Robson and his theories about what was going on managed to be heartbreaking, hilarious and thrilling all at the same time.
I also was glad to see the continuing background story moving along and keeping the suspense up. Now this only needs to feel a little more purposeful and less like being helplessly exposed to what happens for the pack.
Please let there be a next book soon!

The world and books get a little better with each release. I really enjoyed this addition to the Kincaid Pack series, and while in terms of the grand plot line, not a lot happened, we finally get some clarity on mates, bonds, etc. which I desperately needed two books ago. I feel like Kiki is also setting the stage for what I anticipate to be an epic showdown in upcoming books.
This story focused mainly on Marcus and Robson's budding relationship. They went from questionable and hostile to so much more. These two really took the time to communicate, which I think is mostly because Robson was human and coming into the unknown world of shifters. We get clarity on how the mating occurs and why, the magic of the bond, and how different the wolf/human side of shifters are. All of this is something I really wanted; but at times, it felt like the story was dragging.
I think this was due to there were just too many descriptor pages, I found myself setting the book down and then coming back to it numerous times. Even in the middle of sex scenes, there was just something not grabbing my attention. I think Kiki is still refining her craft of when to insert tender, heartfelt, vulnerable moments...but the middle of a sex scene isn't it.
Marcus is much more fragile, insecure, and broken than I previously thought. Yet, Robson was exactly what I anticipated, all harsh edges and no filter. But something that bothered me is that Robson almost has wolfish behaviors, which occurs throughout the course of the book. I found this odd because there was so much emphasis on the fact that he was human but he is growling, territorial, possessive, and slightly obsessed with Marcus' wolf.
Again, I keep coming back to the world because I like the pack mentality and tight friendships. I like the underlying plot of a hidden danger, corrupt Council, and unknown enemy. Here we find one more clue that might bring the Kincaid pack closer to having some answers about the threats. I think what I am most excited for is the potential story between Drake, Jamie, and Gabriel though. If that is who the next book is about, I guarantee I will pick it up.

Rating: 3 stars - I liked it
This one gives us a change of pace with a human and shifter pairing with the Enforcer Marcus falling for the new town Deputy, Robson Medina. Because Robson is human we learn more about mates and some history into shifters.
Marcus was such a sweet guy who was dealing with a lot of trauma from his childhood. He has been very reserved and a stickler for the rules throughout this series so far. We finally get to see him start to trust, let his walls down, and grow more confident that he will not be abandoned by the pack. I really enjoyed getting to know him and seeing him open up to his pack more.
Robson was a character that I struggled with. He starts as a rude jerk and believes that his family is going to be hurt by Marcus and the pack. I didn’t like how he treated his brother-in-law at first, especially since it was clear the man worshiped his sister, but he accepted him later. He also annoyed me in the sex education class scene because he basically took over the class without knowing anything about shifters or their anatomy. Robson does grow to be a better character and person by the end of the book. The only thing I really loved about Robson was that he was constantly boosting Marcus’s confidence and showing him how much he is loved by himself, and the pack.
There is very little new information about the council and what they plan to do about it in this one. I assume the next book will have more progress for that. Overall, I enjoyed this couple but had some issues with aspects of the character.

Possibly my favourite of the three. Robson is a normal guy, he has NO idea about shifters, and then he meets Marcus and he starts to Feel Things. Marcus on the other hand, is a poor tortured shifter who grew up in a VERY strict pack, and then he was sent to work for the council. He's always, out of habit, correcting people when they don't refer to rick as "Alpha", and is so set in tradition and being respectful. He's very anxious at times, panics sometimes, and though he is strong and a powerful shifter, he does need someone to wrap their arms around him and tell him everything will be okay. Enter Robson, ex soldier, who's come back to look after his family after his dad died, leaving behind his mother and seven siblings (though they're all teenagers to thirties). He likes looking after people, and Marcus needs someone to remind him to take work breaks and to not lose sight of his wolf-self. They're a good match.
My ONLY negative was I wanted to see more of Marcus interacting with Robson's family. I wanted more of Robito's mum and sisters with Marcus, of Marcus befriending Teo especially!
