More stunning than I remember
Read this back when it was posted online, and oh but I'm excited for the edited version.
I can already see the threads of plot that got woven in, and I'm so excited to see where they take us.

If this book was actually available today I'd have already ordered it. I am honestly shocked at how quickly I was immersed in this sample.

This is closer to a 3.5 but I am round up. It's fun to read but the middle drags a bit and I just didn't care much for Jainan.

Tennalhin is a bad guy, but that doesn't mean he's ... a bad guuuy. And Lieutenant Surit Yeni is an upright soldier charged with merging his mind to Tennal to get him under control and make his mental talents useful to the war effort. It turns out that they both have a lot to learn and strengths to share. A sweet coming of minds and overturning of the military.

This book took me almost a month to finish because it just couldn’t draw me in. However, it was good enough to play in the background as I was doing things. I feel like it could have been a solid short story.
