Dance for Me

Rate this book
Down on her luck, Boadicea McGee is desperate for a job.
Bills to pay, a roof to keep over her head, and vultures for parents leave her with few options. When her best friend offers her a dream opportunity, she has to weigh dreams against survival and her own morals. The pay is good, the people are nice...but working in a BDSM club just isn't her thing.
Angry, repressed, Bodie is afraid of who she'll become in that environment, especially when one man in particular gets under her skin.
Are all her secrets safe?

Braun Fitzpatrick isn't a fool. He knows Boadicea's special when she walks into his club. She offers him the perfect challenge, the chance to chip through the walls the fiery little female has built around her. Undeterred by her bark or her bite, Braun is content to guide her through the labyrinth of self-discovery.

When danger strikes and the music stops, will Bodie still dance for him?

DNF 55%
I really don't like DNFing books, especially not if it has a 4.5* average.
But I can't get over the over the top characters and their ridicilous dialogues.
The FMC has a rather drastic past and has really "interessting" reactions to basically everything.
Its not the slightest believable, not at all. I had to reread the first chapter because I couldn't fathom why the FMC rather literally starves than work for her friend. It is explained chapters later, but why? Long ongoing internal monologue how her best friend betrayed her with what he said.. without explaining to the reader why its significant what he said?

And don't get me started how each of the Masters behaved. Gigantically over the top.

The character developement was really.. sudden? From literally "ew, perverts" to a full blown public scene within like a chapter. And sorry, the FMCs outbursts aren't quriky and cute, they are.. rather problematic and annoying. 27yo virgin who doesn't know what a clitoris is and can't say vagina. Eh? I had to go back and check the FMCs age. The virgin part I have no issue with but the clitoris?

I really couldn't connect with this book and it angers me a little bit because I was looking forwards to finally reading this series. And seeing that there are only 5* reviews with one or two 3* mixed into. I am sorry but how? How can I be such an outliner. Did I read the wrong book? Does the book get suddenly way better past the 50% mark?

This book had me on an emotional rollercoaster. And it made me feel all of the emotions.
I was devastated as Bodie's story and past trickled in to this story. What that girl has gone through, oh my goodness! It's more than anyone should be subjected to.
I felt so much anxiety for Bodie when she was trying to cope with her life all alone.
I swooned when Braun stepped in as her Dom and took control of his little sub.
I had hope when the Masters and Domme stepped in as a team to help Bodie.
And I had happiness with this ending. It made me smile.
I look forward to more of these Avalon stories.

Down on her luck Boadicea agrees to dance in Braun's BDSM club. She swears she's not submissive; he has other ideas.

This was an okay first entry in yet another fantastical BDSM club series. TBH, it was so heavily invested in relentless melodrama, OTT plot points, and unbelievable backstories that it became a slog after awhile. The author turns Bodie's life into the Book of Job; between that and her constant crying, it was difficult to invest in the romantic relationship. And given how emotionally damaged she was, it was difficult to invest in the BDSM one: she clearly was in no mental state to consent, and the supposedly experienced dominant should have realized that. Finally, conversations are very repetitious (umpteen took place before she'd agree to dance in the club) and the prose very much comes across as a British author trying to write "American" (which begs the question as to why she uses the name “Boadicea"). I don't understand why they feel the need to do that; I actually like reading books set in a country that isn't my own.

2 1/2 stars. The prose is grammatically correct and decently edited (there were a couple of continuity errors around the fence incident); and the H is certainly devoted to the h. There is another volume coming out soon; I may try it.

I honestly don’t get why the heroine didn’t run away from her batshit crazy parents years ago to the other side of the country. The whole conflict with the mean folks felt very construed to make her this survivor who can be healed with a strong dom. D+

What a beautifully written book. Ms. Parker AGAIN reached into my chest & PULLED my heart strings with this one about a desperate & deeply damaged heroine who is hanging on to her sanity & indeed, her life, by the barest thread & the stalwart & loving Hero determined to support, help & love her.
The plot was intense, intriguing & drew me in, kept me on tenterhooks, kept me thoroughly & wonderfully engaged, kept me invested in the main characters as well as the secondary characters, good & evil.
Ms. Parker (IMO) has the magical ability to smoothly wrest the reader from reality into her crafted worlds. I was enthralled, felt part of Bodie & Braun's journey. I was on tenterhooks during the dark traumatic portions as well as the romantic path that they were attempting despite the pitfalls & travails & terrors strewn along their way. But the author always follows the dark & frightening with beautiful scenes of light & love that snatch the reader from empathetic worry or tension or anger to smiles & hopeful & heartwarming.
And overall, this was (to me) a glorious tale of the power of a woman who despite horrific & continual abuse & the fear of the abusers continues to move forward & take whatever positives she is able from life: inch by inch through sheer force of will & the strength of her inner determination.
And, the marvels that a truly good hearted Dominant in love will do in order to help & heal his love, his lover, his submissive, his heart & soul mate.
And the foundation of powerful support that true & loyal friends & family in all but blood provide as they stand shoulder to shoulder with, & for, those they love & care about.
And for me, this was the magic with which the author imbued her story:
> How a damaged woman came to accept love, support, friendship from others as well as the joys of love, trust & submission to the right man
> How a strong dominant man recognized he sometimes needed help from those he loved & trusted as well as the lengths to which he would go in order to protect & defend his woman & sub
> How friends were resolved that the ones they loved & cared for would NOT stand alone.
Ms. Parker's writing, her words, her deft & delicate style, her phrases, effortlessly imprisoned my emotions until long after I finished this book.
Do you want to be moved by, care about, be invested in, intrigued by, enthralled with characters, a plot, writing? Read this one. Read it.

I'm actually at a loss as to what to write for my review. This was such an emotional story for me. Boadice is living a horrible life and dance is her way of escaping. When Braun shows up, things change but she is still in that life. Their story blew me away. I stayed up way to late because I could NOT put the book down. When tragedy strikes, what will happen to their relationship? I honestly can't say anymore because I would end up giving the whole story away. All I can say is to get this book and make sure you have Kleenex or a crying towel because you ARE going to need it. I really hope that we get to see more of the secondary characters and we get to see how Braun and Boadice are doing. I do believe this book is going to go on a special shelf I have for books that have touched me deeply.

I seriously need to update my tbr list!
I’ve had this in my library for a while, and forgot to add it here.
Having read it,i can’t understand why it took me so long to pick it up,that’s for sure!

Bodie has had only herself to count on her entire life.
Sure,Liam was her friend, but she wanted him as far from her family as she could keep him.
They take every dime she struggles to earn, trash her stuff, and beat her every time they feel like it.
No way is she going to let them know she’s got a friend…..
But now he’s got an offer she’s not sure what to think of,in a place she’s not sure she wants to go to.
And when he says the wrong thing, hurting her badly, she fears she’s lost him.
Good thing he has a boss that knows what to do…..

Braun has a good life, filled with friends that are likeminded.
There’s only one thing missing though, and seeing Bodie,he thinks he might just have found it.
Convincing her to at least try dancing in the club for one evening is the first step.
Getting her to trust him,and allow him to show her not all men are bad,is going to take time.
But for his little ballerina,he has all the time in the world.
How to get her to open up,to talk about the hell her life has always been,is a very important question.
But luckily,Mistress Connie is also a very good therapist, and she has her ways of making poor little subbies open up.

With her deepest secrets shared,Bodie slowly starts to settle in Braun’s tender care.
She talks to Liam, and they both know he didn’t mean what he said, didn’t intend to compare her to the ones that brought her into this world.
She even feels less frightened of Jasper, who enjoys scaring her tóó much….the sadist!
But is this the place? Could she stay here? Be happy? Be loved…..???
When she goes back to the dump she called home,to collect her meager belongings, all those feelings fly out the window.
Because guess who’s waiting for her…..
At least her final thoughts are happy ones, right??

Will Braun and his friends arrive in time to save his little ballerina?
Can she survive this brutal beating?
And if she does, what will it mean for her?

This was a tough one.
It hurt me,badly,to know the very people that should’ve cared for Bodie, that should’ve supported and nurtured her, were the ones that kept beating her.
That terrorised her, prevented her from living a normal life.
The moment she understood she wasn’t alone anymore, that she had a new family,in her corner….that was só good to see!
And finally….seeing the little sister she left behind….hearing how bad her life had been, but also hearing she’d never hated her the way her parents made her believe…..that was the icing on the cake!

mrrrrph. it's hard to go into a new bdsm-club-thing right after Mercy, which was just such a treat and so enjoyable. Cherise Sinclair has it pretty much perfect in her books too - good characters, good group dynamics, personable and interesting mc's, etc.

this book had it close, and maybe the rest of the series gets a little better. but the group dynamic between all of the club members fell flat and seemed off to me. a big huge part of that is because she barely shared anything about any character except for bodie, the fmc. even braun(mmc) didn't have a backstory or any super defining personality traits a part from him being a ~Dominant~. which, according to this author, must make him superhuman

the names were also ridiculous and hard to ignore, like why is there a man named loki in this book. 😐 what is that about

i skimmed the last chapter pretty heavily, i was over it and ready to be done tbh. i've read bdsm-club books that are much better, with better characters/plots/sex scenes/etc. and i think the parts that were okay and fine were only that. 😗 with peace and love lol

I have no patience for people who are literally about to be evicted and still turn down well-paying jobs for no good reason, as well as refuse to use a large tip someone connected to her best friend left while she was busking and that she can’t return since she didn’t discover the money until she got home. Get over your pride and pay your goddamn bills. Also, there was a weird consent issue when Bodie's best friend pulled her hair during the interview (he works at a BDSM club and he should know better! That doesn't bode well for how the rest of this will go) and she was pretty casually biphobic toward that same best friend and way too fragile when he called her out for having not fully divested herself of her bigoted family’s beliefs. Clearly she has some work to do but I don’t care to stick around.

Characters: Boadicea is a 27 year old dancer.

Content notes: biphobia (not countered), weight loss (unable to afford enough food), poverty, concern of eviction, FMC seems to be estranged from her family, FMC’s family is racist and homophobic, past slut-shaming by FMC’s dad, secondary character’s mother was an addict, alcohol reference, ableist language

Club Avalon; Deliciously Decadent!!

Bodie struggles with a tough family situation. Even if she “gets ahead” they come take things from her. Childhood friend Liam sets her up with an opportunity to dance at the club where he works. Just dance.

There is an undeniable attraction between Bodie and Master Braun. Bodie has never had a choice. She was always bullied and mistreated. Given the choice and given control Braun is able to draw her out into a relationship which is stunning.

Club Avalon means family. I certainly hope we get books on all these amazing characters that we have come to know and care for. The reader is drawn into each character, the storyline and becomes a part of the family. Simply Stupendous!!

I loved this book. Complex characters, insane chemistry, scorching heat, raw emotions and a gripping, gritty story combine to make a read that captivates and consumes you. Bodie is a character that your heart will break for and I so desperately wanted to be her friend and protect her. Braun was all things swoon worthy and he had me hooked from the start. Drama, danger, sweetness, intensity, glints of humor and poignancy are blended together into a addictive concoction that seamlessly flows across ever page and will have you desperate to read just one more page. A truly amazing read. I am posting a sincere review of my own accord.

4✨ ⚠️ tw // rape, psychological abuse, violence and bdsm references.

— sometimes we don’t get the time we think we have. we don’t get the years we deserve with the ones we love. we have to take the time we do have and make every second count, because that fucking clock stops before we’re ready, and we can’t get back time we waste dancing around each other. when the clock stops, it’s done. all we have is memories.

this book was an emotional roller coaster. it was amazing to see how the main heroine - bodie - went from fragile and shy to a super confident woman. and i really loved the way braun - our hero - was respectful and gave time and space so bodie could heal her mind and soul.

this is a well written book! it has a lot of hot scenes but you can feel the love between the characters since the beginning.

if you’re here because of the “bdsm club” theme, maybe you should search for other book… this one is much more about finding a family in the weirdest place possible, growing up and finding out what you love - and what you don’t.

I absolutely adored this book with it's complex yet sweet story. Bodie, Boadicea, her lifelong friend Liam and Braun the hot owner of Avalon BDSM club start off this tale of love, terror, danger, friendships and camaraderie. Keep your tissues handy, they might be needed a few times. The supporting cast of characters are as rich in personalities as they are full of empathy and understanding as they all learn about each other's individual quirks and skills. Although there is a lot of danger for poor Bodie, she comes out each time she is tested better than she started off. I am definitely looking forward to reading more of Club Avalon and all the fascinating people that make it the success that it is. All the Doms and Domme, I am looking forward to their stories, I hope in the near future.

DNF at page 131. This was a highly recommended book to me from a FB group. Why? I have no idea. How this book has such a high rating? Again, no idea. But to each their own.

The dialogue between ALL the characters made me cringe. It was weird and a little over the top? All the characters gave me weird vibes. I don't even know how to explain it, lol. They were just so over the top in their mannerisms that I didn't know whether to put the book down and laugh, or sigh.

Don't get me started on the repetitive cycle of the h getting GUSHING wet or feeling an INSANE need to rub her thighs together as soon as the H said something in his dominant voice...

This truly is survival of the fittest!
For Bodie dance is everything. Her safe place, her means of expression, her way of making a living. When Braun offers her a job as dancer at his club she has to accept to stay afloat.
The dynamic developing between those two from the very beginning is told with exceptional insight. Every success, every withdrawal, every hurt and every small comfort lures you deeper into the story of a truly strong woman and a man not afraid to take her as she is, with all her contradictions.
This is a story of growth, friendship, finding a chosen family, and above all else a truly unique and deep love.

wonderful BDSM book set in a Club

I really loved this book, oh it has some dark parts that some might find triggering considering that there is and history of abuse of the h and her sister as well as some violence. Still this story is about over coming abuse and there a great HEA at the end. Before you get to the end there is plenty of 🔥 in several nice BDSM scenes that you are sure to enjoy assuming of course that you like BDSM and if you don’t like BDSM what are you doing reading this or the book? I recommend this book highly.

Bo is one strong woman. She has never had a good life and never thought she would. One night it all changes for the better. Bo didn't know going to Avalon would change her life. Meeting Braun was the best thing for her. I absolutely loved this story! It had me squirming, angry and hurt from all the emotions. Well done!

I am not sure how I feel after reading this book.
I had troubles liking Bodie, I would have liked more scenes with Bruan and her really getting to know each other, rather than all the tantrums she threw all around.

Still I liked the Masters and the dynamic between them and I really look forward to getting to know them more and reading their stories!

This novel is better written than some of the other BDSM novels I’ve read on KU. The romance is good, but the story has a few red flags. The author draws similarities between the MC and a child, and the language the author uses felt wrong to me. The story also contains a chase scene, which I didn’t enjoy reading. Surely, chasing a traumatised woman and terrifying her even more would be the WORST thing you could do… Sadly, the novel—like many other BDSM ones—depicts BDSM as inherently voyeuristic, which isn’t true. Voyeurism is a very specific kink, and in my opinion, the MC does not give her explicit consent to being watched. I get it’s a fantasy, but it doesn’t make it OK.

OMG....what a wonderful, emotional, powerful awesome story to read...
Braun and Boadicea’s story is so complex it sends you on an roller coaster of emotional highs and depressing lows and you felt for every secret fear that Bodie held on to as it was exposed, making her one of the most strongest female character that I have had the pleasure to read about, and the protective, loving but stern Master who saw her potential only to love her more.
This story did have it all with dashes of humour, intensive scenes, suspense and drama and if I could give more than 5 stars I would.

Breathless for Days

I suffer from insomnia and I have a tendency to gobble up books like Pringles. But I have never been so effected by a book that it has left me breathless, full of emotions and gasping for air.

To be honest most times BDSM books are hit or miss (ha!) And the 'scenes' are usually the heart of the story....this one. Oh man. From cover to cover it is rich with heart and emotion so heavy you feel it in your bones.

I laughed, I cried, I cheered them on and cried with them. This story opened my eyes to a world full of love that will overcome anything and a group of individuals who make a family richer and greater than blood.

I have wrote and rewrote my review because nothing I can put into words does this book by the amazing KEP any justice at all.

This amazing love story. A story of strength. A story about never ever giving up and surpassing all the sh*t life throws at you. This book left me gut-wrenchingly broken in so many ways.....but when I wasn't looking I left feeling healed from the depths of my soul.

I cannot wait to see what else awaits in Club Avalon.

Yes! Such an amazing story. I want more! This story just drew me in and I was completely Captivated. I'm not sure I have the words to describe my feelings or how much I enjoyed this book. Boadicea has had a truly horrible life. You will hurt for her. Her parents are monsters! Braun is the perfect Master for her. Exactly what she needs even though she doesn't realize it. Submissive is what she deep down and only he with his unending patience is able to help her realize and through this will help her with her demons. This book is super Hot! Some of the scenes will leave you breathless with anticipation. The side characters were all so perfect too. Liam, Connie, Jasper, Loki and Atticus each helped her along the way and become the family she never had.

Boadicea and Braun are fierce with instant chemistry along with steamy scenes and protectiveness like no other with laughable moments and danger lurking. I loved Braun and the men of the club they have the biggest hearts and are just delicious.

This was a fabulous book. There is just so many feelings in it. and so many characters who actually care for each other. I mean, not only is it about Bodie and Braun finding their relationship, it's also about found family and what it takes to find yourself and to be happy, no matter what your past is like.

I loved how careful Braun is with Bodie. He does everything he can to make sure that she is taken care of, and that he doesn't trigger any of her issues, of which there are a lot. I mean, there is just much there that has been done to her and she has experienced, so it's not a surprise that she has all these issues.

Bodie is a survivor, and she is a fighter, and that is really important. She could have let things drag her down or change her, but she didn't, she kept fighting, and she kept trying. I really like her. She just wants to be a good person, and she really is. I think that Braun is really good for her, as are all the people at Club Avalon.

I can't wait for the next book in the series.
