Brides Wanted Matchmaker #4

The Television Reporter's Fake Marriage

Rate this book
When a woman alone in the world chooses to take a non-traditional path to marriage, she has the chance to find her soulmate in this sweet romantic novel from USA Today Bestselling Author Lucy McConnell.

A big story is exactly what Jennifer Buckner needs to take her career to the next level. Despite transforming the morning news on "Hello Moose Creek" from blah to the number one watched local show, something is missing in her life.

Like Jennifer, Duke d’Angelo Diamante knows he’s missing out in life. If he had a teammate and partner, he’d finally prove to his family that he’s ready to take over the thriving jewelry business; after all, nothing says "stable" and "committed" like marriage.

When these two team up—in matrimony—to take on the world, they soon learn that they’re compatible in more ways than one. (Wink! Wink!) But can they stick together and keep their vows when Duke’s family intervenes? Or will they give into the pressure and go their separate ways?

The idea and execution are adorable, with the exception of a few errors I found here and there in the ARC I read.

A marriage of convenience is hard to write without a solid plotline or reason for the wedding, and McConnell did well in establishing their relationship and motivations. My only issue was the end - I know it's meant to be another in the series, but the ending didn't really close up the loose ends. Especially for Duke and Jennifer, and not even the whole family. There are still hanging questions and several possibilities of what they will do, and I wanted to know how they end.

It's standalone in the sense that you don't need to read the previous ones to know what's going on, but the end isn't that satisfying, either. It's another of those happy-for-now stories.

Jennifer and Duke's Arrangement . . .

Jennifer Buckner and Duke d’Angelo Diamante each felt something was missing for them. So when they discover they can do something good for the other through a marriage of convenience, they go for it. It was not meant to be anything more.

But as it often happens, being together like that lets you see things in your partner that make them special. And it’s very easy to begin falling in love. Their kind hearts and desire to help each other definitely open the door to deeper feelings and a strong relationship. Will this happen for them? And will their newfound love be strong enough to deal with family interference?

This was the first book in the series that I read but I will be going back to read the first three, not because I have to understand the story but because I loved this story. The author’s story-telling was enjoyable. I was quickly immersed into the story and the characters. The story weaves multiple lives in; however, it doesn’t clog up the storyline at all. Actually, in my opinion it adds to the story’s ability to draw you and have you longing to find out about the auxiliary characters. I hope we do see the auxiliary characters telling their stories because I am ready to binge!

Our main characters, Duke and Jennifer, are young and ambitious. I was cheering them on from the get go. One didn’t experience a tight-knit family growing up or as an adult; the other had a close family connection until a family situation caused the family to unravel. Even though I have several years on Duke and Jennifer, I was able to relate to this storyline easily. I was blessed to experience this later character’s family through my mother’s family. After my mother died, the extended family separated themselves from myself and my father. It was a shock and now a deep pain that is constantly there. Due to this situation, my chosen family has become even more of a treasure to me as they truly are my family.

The love story between Duke and Jennifer was one I absolutely loved. It might have been a marriage based off of a platonic relationship at first but morphed into something more. I could read about these two characters until they have grandchildren and beyond. Each of them had walls built that the other slowly broke down and hoped to see how their relationship moves forward. We are introduced to a character that is in mourning but I wonder if there is more to it. His character was presented in a way that I instantly disliked him.

There is one scene in the book that I felt something was going to go not so swimmingly. Boy was I right but I will say it wasn’t what I imagined and I let out an EEK as I continued reading. It was a vivid description and still has me squirming. Jennnifer faces a boss that is one that isn’t great to work with and he does put her in a situation that becomes funny. I feel I have told too much. Go forth and grab this title!
I highly recommend this book and look forward to reading more about the Diamonte family and the community of Moose Creek.

This is another book in the series "The Brides Wanted Matchmaker" and I have enjoyed the ones I have currently read. This was the latest one I received to read and review and it was just as awesome as the others. I have read them out of order so you can read them separately and still not be missing much. I would suggest that if you can read them in order it would be better because you would have the family history.
I am quite captured by the amount of love and concern for each other that the children have. It shows in the book that the mother of this group really brought them all together to protect each other. The head of the family, the father is and has always been one to not really care about anyone but himself. The mother always made sure to protect her children from him when necessary and in this story with her being gone no one else seems to be able to control him.
The sisters and brothers though are working toward being able to bring the family back together and to be strong and make the company as wonderful as it possible can be. They are all strong in their different areas and will make a company that any family could be proud to be a part of.

Lucy McConnell has such different series and she brings all the warmth and continuity to every story she writes. I look forward to reading her books when they are offered to be and will continue to seek out more of her writings.

What a great romantic story.  I fell in love with the characters and the story.  Jennifer was a breath of fresh air.  She was a television reporter and talk show host for Moose Hollow 5.  I thought it was funny  she got roped into placing a matchmaker ad by her boss.  I was so glad that Dude d'Angelo Diamante showed up after her other interviews because he seemed like a fun guy.I enjoyed Duke's relationship with his family and how Jennifer was clearly an asset for him with her beauty inside and out.  The story kept me captivated with the angst, their fake, platonic marriage, the  unbelievable in-laws, and Jennfer's boss, Tristan.  I could not put the book down even if I wanted to and I will definitely read this again because it checks everything I like in a good romance book.  I received an advance copy of this book and I willingly chose to write an honest review.

Jennifer and Duke met and married one another for mutually beneficial but unconventional reasons. They decided their marriage of convenience would be just two friends supporting one another in a platonic relationship. It was fun to watch them fall in love as they got to know one another and appreciate their spouse's good qualities. Readers can expect a few scary moments (Duke's father was pretty terrifying) balanced out by lots of swoony kisses, good chemistry and the comfort of knowing that someone is there for you who has your best interests at heart. Wish there could have been a little more detail at the end of the book--maybe an epilogue where we can see Jennifer and Duke as they adjust to their new circumstances at the end of the story. I enjoyed the book and recommend it! Rating: 4.5. I received an ARC and this voluntary review contains my honest opinion.

I feel like this book, more than any of the others previously in the series, benefits from those earlier books to fully understand past events and the dynamics between several of the characters. That’s not to say that it doesn’t stand fully well on its own, just that it’s significantly enhanced by knowing what came before. Duke and Jen are adorable together. They don’t start out that way, but they quickly gel as a couple to become what most of us would call #couplegoals. There’s lots of family drama and emotional baggage that could drag them down, but their commitment to one another is admirable and helps them to navigate the choppy waters. In the end, this book leaves us with a bit of a mystery about the Diamante family that I’m very curious to solve and makes me anxious to get my hands on the rest of that story.

What a delightful feel-good contemporary romance that immediately pulled me into the middle of all that was happening and kept me totally immersed until I read the last word. I loved the characters that feel like your friends and the sweet instant attraction and undeniable chemistry between Jennifer Buckner, morning news anchor of Hello Moose Creek, the most watched local show and Duke Diamante, future CEO of his thriving family jewelry business. Ms. McConnell is a master of this genre and I am always excited to read one of her books. Can't wait to see what she has for us next. A challenge from her TV station boss sees morning show host and reporter Jennifer setting up phony match-making interviews with potential husbands. She is as surprised as everyone else when she agrees to marry one of the most eligible bachelors in Moose Hollow!
With an easy friendship developing, Jennifer and Duke learn to depend on one another until family matters reach crisis point.
As with all her books, Lucy McConnell keeps the story moving at a steady pace, with empathetic portrayals of emotional feelings, great dialogue and including quirky incidents that keep the reader interested in the outcome from start to finish.

This fake romance story has two lovable MCs who quickly capture the reader’s heart!

The tumultuous family and work relationships cause multiple problems throughout the book. Both Jennifer and Duke seem to easily gravitate towards each other, taking on the issues as a united front.

While the relationship is full of chemistry, this is a clean (kissing) romance.

I do wish it was a full HEA instead of the HFN (with the idea that it will be amazing forever). I’m hoping the next book isn’t he series will keep this storyline going!.

Lucy McConnell did a fabulous job in writing the fake marriage trope. It can be tricky to make it plausible with a solid reason for a fake marriage to take place and I feel Lucy did it.
I loved how Duke & Jennifer clicked from the moment they met but were unaware how connected they were at first. I enjoyed reading how their relationship developed into love.
I hope Lucy is going to write stories for the rest of the Diamante family, especially Atlas as I feel he is hiding a lot behind his anger and it will take a special woman to heal him.

It’s been a minute since I’ve read anything by this author, but her writing is STILL A1!! Jennifer didn’t have the support of her family from a young age but knew Duke’s family was a den of jeweled wolves. I loved how she brought the community together and helper everyone she came in contact with...well, the ones who wanted it. The ending came too quickly and I wanted more. Will have to get caught up in the previous books in this series!!

When I started reading this book I wasn't thrilled but as the story progressed I didn't want it to end!

I really loved that even though Duke is a billionaire Jennifer doesn't need his money. She has a job that she sorta loves (it's complicated) and she has enough money to buy herself the massive amounts of clothes that she can't part with.

This book does end with loose ends because there is another book coming out about the Diamontes. It's peaked my interest.

For me, marriage of convenience stories are some of the hardest to be believable in our modern world. I'm always skeptical. But, I've been blown away by this Brides Wanted Series. Maybe it's because the characters are honest about their reasons for entering into such a marriage, but I find the whole series refreshingly believable and I want so badly to cheer the characters on! This book had loveable characters with flawed families and great chemistry. I always enjoy a Lucy McConnell book- this didn't disappoint!

The Television Reporter’s Fake Marriage

Jennifer puts an ad on the matchmaker site in order to interview men who are willing to be interviewed by her. Duke needs a wife to help him overcome a scandal. They agree to a marriage of convenience but his family dynamics are so messed up since his mother passed away that he has little family support. Jennifer has no family support and expects none in the future. Will they be able to survive the turmoil and angst thrown against them?

Another great story from Lucy McConnell! This clean romance will hook you in and leave you wanting to learn more about the Diamante Family. I love how both lead characters are strong, yet lean into each other for support. The family dynamics are rough in this book, and I can’t wait to see how the author fleshes out all of the characters and resolves some of the issues. It will fun to watch Duke and Jennifer’s relationship grow throughout the new series.

This was a good, solid read. There was a nice degree of tension that drew me into the story and the premise of a reporter being matchmaked while doing a story was fun to watch. If you are looking for something with good 'fade to black' moments this is a read for you.

This is a great book by Lucy McConnell. The main characters, Jennifer & Duke, are well written. The Diamanté family has many facets to them. Jennifer's boss doesn't make it easy for her. But it is great to see how the characters help one another through life. The story ended before I was ready for it to. Highly recommend.

When Jennifer and Duke entered a fake marriage they planned on it lasting a year at most, that was before they really knew each other. I loved how their relationship changed, the humor, the emotional sharing, the support and dependance.

Lucy McConnell takes a trope like fake marriage and knocks it out of the park. And you can’t help but absolutely love her characters and feel the chemistry sizzling between them. Book 4 rounds out the series beautifully!

I really enjoyed this sweet romance - well, sweet between Duke and Jennifer as they decide on a mutually beneficial fake marriage, but Duke's dad is the most sour person the planet.

Lucy has outdone herself!! I loved this book. The Brides Wanted Matchmakers series has been so much fun to read and this book may just be my favorite in the series. Jennifer and Duke get married to help each other, but the story doesn’t end there. There is so much fun to this story. I couldn’t put it down. If you’re looking for a clean, fun romance… this is the book for you!
