Aww, Kurosawa and Adachi's first date! Very different in the manga compared to the tv show! I loved that despite it not being perfect, in the end it worked out for them and Adachi managed to communicate what he's comfortable with. :)

Adachi my love! His struggles with low self esteem is too relatable, and I love that his blooming relationship with Kurosawa is helping him with his sense of self-worth. All thanks to his mind reading powers! However, now he is worried about Kurosawa because reading someone's mind is invasive... This series is really too wholesome!! 💖

First dates and lots of awkwardness (who the heck takes their date on a helicopter ride??) and I just felt for both of them. Kurosawa was just trying too hard (which I didn't fault him that much I mean he has been pining for Adachi for years) and Adachi was just awkward (which on the one hand I could understand but on the other hand JUST TELL KUROSAWA this). I did like that they had a redo date and that Adachi tried to make things right again. I love that we got to see both sides to things again (so cute and fun). And I loved that Adachi is now noticing that maybe that wizard powers of him is not that handy, do you really want to read someone's personal thoughts so easy/without permission? I also like that we saw Adachi's friend and his love interest (I hope that these two get together someday). And oh yes, the fujoshi at their work was just cheering, haha, I would have been the same.

He really needs to clue our boy in. I mean Adachi is usually really good at seeing that for himself so I’m not scared but also I’m definitely a little scared for him 😬

Wow this was really cute but also a distaster lol!! It was also very on point for both characters and yes plsss that DRAMA i guess bc i know this is a book, i didn't even think this need to say anything would come up but realistically, it should be something they talk about. I wonder what will happen!! And lol, side couple is still stumbling

Cute cute cute! I really liked that we're moving in the direction of confessing to the mind-reading powers (at least for our primary protagonists). I hope to see more of the best friend and his delivery guy in the next book!

Another cute volume, although I got frustrated with Adachi in this one. I understand that he’s still adjusting to dating a guy and what that’ll mean in terms of bigots seeing them together. I get that, but he treats Kurosawa like he’s diseased quite a few times in this one and that was sad to see. If he was that concerned, I don’t understand why he wouldn’t try organizing something in their homes instead of in a public setting.

It makes me so sad that I didn’t love this volume. This series started off so strong for me, but with each passing volume I feel less and less invested in the story 🤷🏻♀️

I am realizing I'm liking this series more than I thought, they are so cute and awkward but so sweet 😭 and the second couple is this but also hilarious lol I may have to watch the live action to fill the void until the next volumes get translated.

4 volumes and still no kiss.

Lovely story progression though. Adachi is finally coming to terms with his feelings, and Kurosawa is still a major simp and I love him for it.

This series is so cute.

Every time I start a new volume (and it's been a while since the last one!), I think, "Eh, the art isn't that great," but then I get fully sucked into the story. I think it's especially refreshing after reading a few HS setting manga, because even though Adachi is awkward and inexperienced, he's also a mature 30-year-old man who knows how to reflect on his actions and change them as needed.

He and Kurosawa started dating in the previous volume, which means that we spend most of this one on their first date, and the aftermath. Because Kurosawa, being anxious and excited and an overachiever, plans too much and overwhelms Adachi.

The mind-reading thing is almost unnecessary at this point in the narrative and could be an afterthought - which I suppose it will be once the Mature rating finally kicks in - but it's actually used in really thoughtful ways. Touching Kurosawa gives Adachi the ability to quickly calm himself down from his anxiety spirals - he gets caught up in worrying about whether he's ruined things by being an inexperienced, gloomy guy, but every time he hears Kurosawa's thoughts he feels a surge of reassurance and confidence. That support and affection has been actively helping Adachi to grow as a person and to actively try to be more proactive and thoughtful with Kurosawa.

I loved that instead of some drawn out angst-fest after their kind of failed first date, Adachi immediately steps in and takes Kurosawa out on a much quieter date of his own planning - and then explains what he's been thinking and feeling. It's so wonderfully communicative and shows how comfortable and close the two of them are - which is precisely why they work as a couple.

And the mind-reading thing isn't going to drag out too much longer, because Adachi is finally realizing that it maybe isn't okay for him to be intruding on Kurosawa's thoughts like that. It looks like the next volume will deal with him telling Kurosawa about his powers, which is good forward momentum and an important next step in their relationship.

This series is just so sweet and refreshing. I really enjoy it.

So, part of the hilarity of this volume that I need you to know is that I have a second-hand copy and it arrived with a funeral card, so opening the "they're dating now" volume and seeing White Jesus With Lambs was such a hilariously unexpected dissonance that the whole of reading this was colored by that. You're welcome, now you can be amused with me.

This one is heckin' adorable because it is every inch the Dates Are Awkward reality, especially when one of the people involved in Kurosawa the Overachiever. Toyota nails the fact that figuring out dating is just a weird experience, no matter what knowledge or experience you're bringing into it, and that communication and honesty are the best antidotes to awkwardness.

The subplot of Tsuge and Minato was better here than the live action, I think, with the setting of the club. I feel like that relationship has a lot of gaps of transit--like, what is the conversation where Minato got Tsuge to the club? Why is Minato inviting him out/what was the switch in emotion there? I just so completely don't get that pairing, but I'm hanging on as it develops and being delighted by Kurosawa and Adachi holding hands (Kurosawa is also delighted by this).

This is easily my favorite installment I've read so far, everything about it was a hit for me.

Not only was it incredibly funny, I just love that this was a whole volume dedicated to anticipating, going on, and dealing with a date that is incredibly imperfect and admittedly a bit disappointing for both parties involved. It doesn't go for fictionalized perfection, it makes a point of saying, "These are two people who are still learning about each other and who are distracted by their doubts and fears." And then there's an honest conversation about what went wrong and what they can do differently in the future so they can both be comfortable and have fun. And stressing that the point of dating is to have fun with the other person? To feel free instead of confined?

I don't know, I don't think I realized until I read this how little of that there is in romantic works. It's either perfect or it's the end of the world. And here it's just like... No. It's a process or trial and error, and part of enjoying dating is understanding that and figuring it out together. And acknowledging that in this made it a very sweet, very honest volume.

We go on with our work place Japanese story about two people dating in the workplace.

The last volume ended with Adaci declaring himself to Kurasawa at the airport. So this volume, they go on their first date. Nerves are flaring all over the place. Seriously, who gets to go on a helicopter ride on their first date. Apparently, several people do. The author took a helicopter ride for this manga and the pilot told them that many couples do this for a date and it works. They stick together. Wow! That is some first date.

Both of them are nervous and the date isn't much of a success. Still Adachi doesn't give up and he asks out Kurasawa and they just go hang out doing something they both enjoy and they have a great time.

The story is going in a great direction. They are both so nervous. I hope they can settle in and just enjoy each other's company. It's a cute and sweet story and I'm looking forward to Volume 5. I wonder how long till they have the first kiss. It might be three more volumes. Who knows.

Adachi and Kurosawa have their first date!!! And it goes about as well as you would expect for the awkward couple.

Adachi is truly unfamiliar navigating love and romance, and he's completely out of his element as he opens himself up to Kurosawa. But he starts to learn that maybe he's not the only one overthinking and feeling nervous about all of this.

This is why I love this series so much. Even though Adachi has the added ability to read minds, he still is needing to learn that relationships require honesty and being able to repair the areas where things don't right. And I love that this series continues to reward you with Adachi and Kurosawa figuring out that lesson together. They're both just incredibly innocent and sweet about the whole thing. Mostly. Kurosawa's mind is a wild mind palace of every possibly fantasy he can conjure and it frightens me as much as it frightens Adachi.
