This new isekai-fantasy novel series (VRMMORPG - Virtual Reality Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game) is well written, organized, of the minimum size, with great color illustrations, black and white illustrations, character descriptions, the only thing missing is a map of the game world.
With 160+ pages, 19 chapters, each chapter has 10+ pages which is mid range size for a chapter to allow for character and world development. Although the author is a minimalist and suffers from a type of tunnel vision determinism. Minimalist, that does not do anything extra, does not write more than absolutely necessary. Tunnel vision determinism, in the sense than the main character, Ren Takashiro, or the retinue characters (Akira, Yuuna or Kotomi) rarely fail, rarely try something different from the path/algorithm/recipe that the author has thought out. Main character has a one shot move, that should not always work (because of game probability) but it always works because the author wrote it that way. (Determinism: "The philosophical doctrine that every state of affairs, including every human event, act, and decision, is the inevitable consequence of antecedent states of affairs.") But if there is something that never turns out how it was described or meant to work are games, game abilities, and game skills. Because programmers seldom follow "natural laws" and are always "changing the rules".
So, I hope that in the following volumes, the author does "more than expected", "changes the game-play up" so that this VRMMMORPG isekai-fantasy novel series is not telegraphed, boring and the same old, same old...

One word: Fun.

If you like the premise, read the story. It’s just fun all around, with a strong cast of characters, including an MC who 100% understands what’s happening and isn’t shy around girls.

Onto the next volume I go.

Surprisingly a good read, relatively speaking, for a VRMMO genre book. As a long time MMORPG player, the concept of a "meta" is definitely entrenched in the mind and this book really takes the concepts and brings it alive.

I really did quite get taken in with the main idea of the story, where the protagonist Ren takes the 'worst' classes in the game and makes them in to crazy powerhouses. The author also takes the pain to actually make it very plausible (in the confines of the setting) by setting up things in a manner that reflects a few real-life examples of crazy stunts pulled in MMORPG's.

On the downside, the book tends to drag out a lot of the descriptions of the general concepts in an MMO such as stats, skills, levels etc so that does tend to get slightly boring. But they are pretty essential to understanding the exploits of the protagonist so I can understand the choice of the author to explain them more in depth more often than not.

Those that are looking for more depth or crazy plots probably aren't gonna find it here, as the story is strictly in the vein of "group of friends play a game together and have fun" kind of setting, which results in it being quite a fluffy book. The characters are all pretty likeable so far, albeit rather thin on character but as this is the first book, it's rather understandable.

I guess my one worry is the patchy release record of the publisher, as they have a patchy track record of releasing books so far. Hopefully they have worked things out as I personally quite like this series as far as the first volume ends and I'm looking forward to the next volumes.

Ren is an avid MMO gamer, who when he learns about a high school run through a VRMMO from his gamer friend Akira, decides to join said school. The school gives regular lessons while online and use the MMO as a way to motivate their students. As always, Ren picks a supposed weak class in an attempt to proof its strength.

From the story it is clear that the author is an avid MMO gamer. Gamer terminology is explained there were important, and the story avoids going into detailed stats and the grind (at most mentioning when it happens). It feels like a real game, although a bit more advanced than normal, especially since the exploits Ren is looking for are features - a common enough thing in TTRPGs added to reward players who love to do this kind of digging, but not all that normal in MMOs. I also enjoy the characters.

It should be noted that the story is very much a slice-of-life computer gaming/search for the rules exploits kind of story. There is some amount of fan service, including the beginning of a harem, that fulfils little purpose towards the story even if it is reasonable tame. The conversations are a tad simple as well. The fan service are elements I am not a big fan of, but they don't detract from my enjoyment even if they come with the occasional eyeroll. If you don't like them though, this is not the book for you.

All in all, an entertaining short read, nothing deep, but fun none the less.

The entire story is about a guy who takes the worst class and makes it the best class. Not a bad story, just felt nothing for the MC, or any other character for that matter.

to short

For 10$ this was an extremely short book. I enjoyed it but it looks like I will have to pay 40$ just for a real novel length and that is to expensive.

Was just a fun, light hearted read. Very enjoyable. Though I am a little concerned about the page count of future volumes.
