Lila Monroe is back and she hasn't lost her talent to write incredibly good rom coms.

Maverick Mogul follow a commitment phobe,Charlie Fox, and a scorned woman, Grace Sommerville, during a month of fake dating.
Charlie was invited to a lot of weddings, he doesn't want to go with women who could become clingy so he asks Olivia's agency to find him the perfect fake date. Grace is an amazing PA but when she loses her job her self confidence falters and she sees the chance to accompany Charlie to the weddings as a nice rebound before to start to looking for a new job.

I've really enjoyed this story, I've read it in one sit.
I loved how Charlie helps Grace to believe more in herself, to be confident and to go for what she wants. Their relationship is hot, sweet and it was a pleasure to see them grow attached to each other so easily.

I definitely recommend this story if you want to smile for some hours.

It feels like it’s been forever since we’ve had a new rom com from Monroe… and I gobbled this one up in a couple of hours. Which, honestly, is how I’ve consumed most of her books. They’re like rom com movies come to life - reliably super low angst, playful, bingeable, steamy, and full of lighthearted CHARM. Not the most deep or complicated books out there, but they certainly satisfy my light and sexy craving. This one kicks off a brand new spinoff series that’s the perfect jumping in point for new readers, but all kinds of nostalgic for longtime fans. I loved the fun and easy vibes, the chemistry between the characters, and getting to know this brand new group of friends. It's got me excited for more from the series, and I had no trouble devouring this in one sitting.

The story follows Grace, a personal assistant who is used to taking less than she deserves. When Grace runs into an old high school classmate - who always had effortless charisma and charm - it throws her life off-balance. Not only did Charlie accidentally get Grace fired from her job, but he's also a handsome and sexy playboy who wants her to accompany him to a dozen weddings over the next few months. He doesn't want strings or commitments or even a fling, just a platonic date to keep people from hounding him about his love life. But as the two spend time together, they realize that they never really knew each other at all - and giving in to the sparks that fly between them might lead to more.

I love diving into one of Monroe's rom coms whenever I'm in the mood for something incredibly low angst and entirely bingeable - and this was definitely that. It absolutely flew by, and I had fun reading the whole time. Sure, it keeps things pretty surface level and doesn't delve too deep, but that was just what I was in the mood for after several long, complex reads in a row. The story plays up some of the tropes, while maintaining a playful and easy feel - Grace and Charlie definitely had chemistry, and I loved them together. Charlie was actually kinda adorable and sweet, even though I wanted to shake him sometimes. I'm intrigued by some of the other characters and I can't wait for more from the series. We got a few teases, and I'm ready to get reading. I received an early copy and am voluntarily leaving a review of this steamy and sweet romance.

I absolutely adore the romantic comedies that Lila brings to the table. They are funny, sexy, easy to read, the characters have wonderful banter, and they have such a sexy sizzle. This is the tale of Charlie Fox and Grace Sommerville.
Charlie is a business mogul that has found himself in quite a predicament. He has 12 weddings this season and needs a no strings date on his arm to keep the exes at bay. He turns to his cousin Olivia who has a knack for finding the right gal for the job.
Enter Grace Sommerville. She has been burned by her ex and her best friend, yes together. Now she needs a job to pay the bills so when she is offered a wedding escort position, what could go wrong?
Join them while they make their way through more themed weddings than you can shake a stick at and watch as they dance around one another while the sexual tension continues to radiate off of them.
This was such a fun adventure with Grace and Charlie!

Grace is a very patient and efficient personal assistant. She is resourceful, shows initiative and strives to meet her client expectations. When her clients’ son asks the almost impossible of her, she gets it done with minutes to spare. Unfortunately a bit of a mishap occurs and she finds herself out of a job - talk about a tough day at the office!.

With bills to pay and a reputation to uphold she agrees to be a companion to a wealthy businessman as his date for 12 upcoming weddings on his calendar. He needs someone on his arm who can hold a conversation and will provide a buffer from any other female interest. This job is paying very well but when she realises her childhood crush is the man she would be working for she is seriously reconsidering whether she really needs the job.

Who is Grace kidding, of course she needs the job and if being in close proximity to Charlie Fox is going to be the only problem she has, she should be fine right? Once Charlie realises that he knows Grace it opens the door to rekindling a friendship with her. In fact, they have a lot of fun together - especially once they have a safeword in place, it’s not what it sounds like though!

Grace is completely charmed by Charlie, he is just as gorgeous now as he was back then and when he gives her that sexy grin she is powerless to anything else. However, she is also a professional and wants to do a good job too. When they start hanging out more on the days she isn’t required to accompany him to weddings, they both realise just how truly compatible they are. However, Charlie is adamant that anything that begins to feel like a relationship or commitment is not for him.

The lines do eventually blur and Grace struggles so hard not to fall for Charlie but it may be too late. Will this commitment phobe man realise that the girl of his dreams is worth taking the risk for?

This is a light and fun rom-com from an author that always manages to deliver engaging, romantic stories.

Oh my heart, no one does romantic comedy quite like Lila Monroe! Her characters are down-to-earth with fatal flaws that somehow make them even more endearing. She then gives us a laugh-out-loud hilarious story full of tender heart and deep emotion, and every story is irresistible.

Olivia, our shero from Wild Card, makes an appearance to work a little matchmaking magic for her cousin, Charlie Fox. Charlie has twelve weddings to attend in the next month and he needs a date. A date who understands it's for show only and there's absolutely no chance for any kind of romantic relationship with Charlie. Zero. Zip. Nada. He simply does not do them. He has his reasons, you see.

Grace Summerville knew Charlie back in their small home town. She may have tutored him in high school, but that's where their association ends, and their lives have gone down two very different paths.

Charlie is a successful businessman and owns one of the hottest night clubs in the city, along with his buddies from college. And Olivia, well, she’s picking up the pieces of what once was her life, having been fired from her latest job and trying to avoid her ex who's now engaged to her ex-best friend. Posing as Charlie’s date looks like it's a good idea for her bank account, at least.

I don’t remember the last time I had this much fun in a romcom world. The creative weddings and venues alone make it worth the read. I laughed my way through the pages, careful about eating or drinking in order to keep my record of receiving zero Heimlich maneuvers intact. While I gobbled this up in one sitting, my emotions felt like a pinball in a spirited game, running the full gamut and back multiple times.

Because as much humor as this book contains, there's also a surprising amount of heart that manipulated my own in the most delicious ways. Between the comedic and romantic components, and then catching up with some favorite characters like Poppy and Dylan's, this one is the whole package. Run post haste, click the buy button, and start reading this humorous, heartfelt, out-of-this-world amazing read today!

5 star Review Maverick Mogul by Lila Monroe
Charlie Fox is in desperate need of a date to attend not one, but twelve weddings, but the last thing he wants or needs is a woman who will fall for him and so he wants a fake girlfriend.
Turning to his cousin Olivia (who we have met previously in Wild Card) for help he is shocked when she puts him in contact with Grace. When Grace Summerville is offered the job she decides to accept, after all she has recently been betrayed by her ex and her ex best friend and is in need of a job.
After all what could go wrong, with Charlie and Grace helping each other out? Nothing or so they think? What will happen when feelings become involved and attraction becomes impossible to resist? Neither Charlie or Grace have any intention of becoming involved for real., it’s all for show. However we all know that the best laid plans can easily be derailed and that is when the fun really begins.
Maverick Mogul is a great example of romantic comedy, It is full of witty banter, heat and romance. Charlie is most assuredly a swoon worthy, hot alpha male determined to get what he wants. I loved this book from start to finish; it was a fabulous read, full of great moments that really brought a smile to my face and one that I really didn’t want to put down.

Review

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Maverick Mogul by Lila Monroe is a fake dating contemporary romance novel about a very hot billionaire, and a sweet but sometimes a mess ,personal assistant.

One of my favourite things about this book was the author's ability to turn very embarrassing and usually sad moments into something funny and let me tell you i was laughing my ass off since page 1!!

Both the main Charlie and Grace were lovable characters and their chemistry together was INSANE.
I really liked how Charlie was always thinking about her and just wanted to be near Grace at all time, so much so that he changed his schedule, asked her to come with him every damn day!!
I also loved how it wasn't just Charlie doing all the work , Grace was also equally enamored with him and thought about him.(Mutual obsession is my favourite trope if you couldn't tell lol)
Charlie was really an idiot in the end and I'm glad Grace just didn't take him back instantly!! She let him grovel a lot!! (Groveling hero trope is also one of my favs)
I liked the writing, the pacing of the story and I genuinely didn't expect to like this book as much as I did!
I highly recommend this book<3

Charlie Fox needs a date for an incredible amount of summer weddings, but at the same time, he doesn't want the commitment that goes with THAT many predetermined dates. Enter Grace Sommerville... charming, resourceful... and newly unemployed... Grace is just the woman for the job... as long as she promises to absolutely NOT fall in love...

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Maverick Mogul was an adorable and incredibly fun, fake relationship, romance read! Grace and Charlie have known each other since high school... he was the golden boy, and she was invisible... and not much has changed in the years since. And while the simple business arrangement between them should be just about the least sexy setting ever... weddings have a way of bringing out the romance... whether you want it or not...
This book was a fantastically entertaining read! Charlie and Grace's twelve wedding dates were just the right amount of glitzy, fun, cute, and oh-so sexy! I adored the dynamic between these two vastly different, yet perfect-for-each-other, characters. Grace was a personal assistant who has had the worst luck with work, love, and life in general. Charlie is a bachelor who is afraid of commitment and everything that comes along with opening your life up to someone. Together they not only heat up the pages of this book, but they will warm your heart right up with it!
This book is a part of the fabulous Billionaire Bachelors Club series, where each and every couple you meet will hold you hostage with their own engrossing stories, and leave you with a smile on your face... and probably some blushes as well!
I received a complimentary copy of this book for my honest and unbiased review
What a wonderful. fun addition to the Billionaire Bachelors Club.
This is Charlie Fox and Grace Summerville’s entertaining tale. When Charlie needs a partner for the summer season of weddings he turns to his cousin Olivia to help find him a fake girlfriend, he has twelve weddings to attend and he needs a sidekick to keep the ex’s at bay.
Grace has recently been betrayed by her ex and her now ex best friend so this job offer seems the perfect distraction after all what could go wrong ……..
This is romantic comedy at its best, it has a swoon worthy hero and a funny, sassy heroine, it’s lighthearted and the perfect book to escape with so I guess all that’s left for me to say is please one click this gem of a read, you won’t be disappointed.
4.5 SMOOCHES!
I’ve read nearly everything Lila Monroe has written to date, and there hasn’t been a single one of her romantic comedies that I haven’t enjoyed. Maverick Mogul is the first book in her new Billionaire Bachelors Club series, and it’s off to a hot and hilarious start. Monroe’s writing never fails to pull me into her stories with wit, charming details and fun plots. She fills the pages with imaginative elements and interesting side characters which paint a vibrant picture for the reader. But it’s Lila’s creative plots, endearing couples and their sexy romances that keep me reaching for her work.
Maverick Mogul was a fake date romance featuring commitment-phobe Charlie and newly unemployed Grace. Charlie has a summer full of weddings, and to stave off the inevitable questions about his love life, he needs a date to bring to these weddings without strings or commitments—strictly a business arrangement. Enter his cousin, Olivia who owns a date-for-hire agency and is a crossover character from Wild Card, book three in Monroe’s Billionaire Bachelors series.
Maverick Mogul was a light-hearted, easy reading fake date romcom high on the heat and humor. An amusing plot and a sexy, sweet, swoon-worthy romance about a couple I was pulling for from the start, I smiled the whole way through. Charlie and Grace’s love story was an entertaining, addictive, fun-to-read romance. Maverick Mogul by Lila Monroe gets 4.5 smooches from me!
It honestly seems like it’s been a while since I last read anything by Lila Monroe, but now after getting my hands on this beauty, I have to say that it has been worth the wait.
I was gripped by the very first page and just wanted to keep reading, plus I love that yet again Lila has gone ahead and managed to include characters from her other series. If anything that just made the book that much more amazing, then again Lila is pretty talented when it comes to interlacing her characters from other series.
I found myself enjoying the story the entire way through and just didn’t want it to end, I loved how the characters were and how they pulled you into their story.
I honestly couldn’t think of this book being done any differently, but then again Lila just seems to know what her readers want.
I thought that Grace was such a sweet girl and that she deserved to have the perfect guy who adored her for who she was, who made her melt just by the way he made her feel so special, she deserved to have an amazing career and be able to enjoy what she did for work.
I thought Charlie was a right tool when he had no idea who Grace was, but then afterwards when it all came out and you got to know him, he was a sweet guy, he just didn’t have the best ideas when it came to girls and relationships.
Overall, I loved how the story developed and the direction that Lila took it in, it’s just made me eagerly as excited for the next book in the series.
If you love Lila’s work or love something that’s got some romantic comedy too, then giving this book a try would be worth it, plus with this being the first book in the series, it just makes it that much more incredible.
Grace thought she’d have life figured out now, a great job, her own place, a great partner who she’d either be engaged or married too and possibly her own family by now. However, life has decided to take a complete different direction and has decided that it’s not going to give her any of those things, instead she’s working as a PA for a family who’s son is just the worst person ever, but still she knows that she needs this job as it’s the only source of income she has, plus with the fact that she’s living in her Aunt’s flat that’s above her shop until she figures out where her life takes her, she knows she can’t afford to mess up.
But when she ends up throwing cake all over her bosses son, (even though it wasn’t her fault) she knows that it’s over for her. But luck seems to be on her side, as the person who bumped into her was no one than her crush from school, Charlie. What she doesn’t realise is that life is about to throw them together for the most strangest gig ever.
When it becomes apparent that Charlie needs a date for the summer to attend all of the weddings he’s been invited too, will Grace accept it or will she decide to decline as she doesn’t want to get involved in something that sounds so complicated???
What happens when they start spending more time together?? Will Grace run away due to a secret that Charlie is holding onto???
Typowy amerykański romans z wyższych sfer, pierwszy z siedmiotomowej serii, której męskimi protagonistami są bogaci playboye, teoretycznie kawalerowie do wzięcia lecz w rzeczywistości niechętni trwałym związkom, wymyślający więc rozmaite sposoby, aby zwieść opinię publiczna w kwestii swojego rzekomego miłosnego zaangażowania. Ich najnowszą biznesowo-rozrywkową inicjatywą jest powołanie tzw. klubu wolnych kawalerów-miliarderów, pod egidą którego działają modne manhattańskie knajpy. Ważną rolę w tym przedsięwzięciu odgrywa niejaki Charlie Fox. Do jego towarzyskich a także, jak należy domniemywać, marketingowych obowiązków należy obsługa letniego sezonu ślubów, łącznie z uczestnictwem w dwunastu przyjęciach weselnych. Potrzebna mu jest na nich stała, jednomiesięczna partnerka, która jednak nie będzie żywiła żadnych oczekiwań związanych z tym faktem. Pada na byłą szkolną koleżankę, Grace Sommerville.
Jeśli kto ciekaw zatem, znajdzie w książce kilka przykładów dość ekstrawaganckich sposobów celebrowania wstępowania w związki małżeńskie w gronie nowojorskich elit. Na szczęście nie musimy z bliska śledzić wszystkich dwunastu ślubów i imprez weselnych, bo dla fabuły powieści najważniejszy jest przecież romans Charliego z Grace. Niestety, jego przebieg powiela schematy obecne w wielu podobnych powieściowych romansach. Mimo że wstępnie obydwoje akceptują trzymanie się reguł fałszywego związku na pokaz, szybko górę bierze odczuwalna przez oboje chemia. Jest tylko kwestią, kto pierwszy i w jakich okolicznościach otwarcie wyzna, że to już … miłość.
Natomiast interesujące są niektóre okoliczności towarzyszące ich pierwszym, szkolnym relacjom i obecnym, odnowionym w Nowym Jorku. Już w liceum Charlie brylował niczym mister popularności, podczas gdy Grace była niewidzialna, przynajmniej za taką się miała. Jednocześnie to ona, na prośbę nauczycieli, udzielała mu korepetycji z nauk ścisłych, a teraz po latach dowiaduje się od niego, że podziwiał jej intelekt i nawet był o to zazdrosny. Ale podczas ich pierwszego nowojorskiego spotkania Charlie Grace nie poznaje. Ponadto mimowolnie przyczynia się do utraty przez nią nisko-, ale płatnego zajęcia tzw. osobistej (czytaj: rodzinnej) asystentki, co w zasadzie zmusza ją do przyjęcia jego cudacznej propozycji.
Pewnym novum w zajawce wydawniczej powieści jest wymienienie tytułów kolejnych sześciu tomów serii. Niektóre z nich wyglądają na tyle atrakcyjnie, że może kiedyś po nie sięgnę. Z nadzieją, że zawierają więcej społeczno-obyczajowych amerykańskich smaczków, podobnego rodzaju jak te przywołane wyżej.
“It starts and ends with a cake in a lap.”
What a delightful story!! Charlie and Grace are so adorable and I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough. It has been awhile since I’ve read Lila Monroe and I had forgotten how much I love her books. She never fails to draw me in the story and keep me entertained from the first page to the last.
“Charlie strolled into my life and he just…Fits.”
Grace was such a relatable character. She’s trying to find her place in this world and being beaten down at every turn. When she’s fired from her latest job, she’s presented with an opportunity to be the fake wedding date for her high school crush. When lines get blurred and feelings get involved, will the fake become real?
“…once you do see her…it’s like staring into the sun. Nothing is ever as bright again, compared to her.”
Charlie is charming, rich and has no plans to ever settle down and fall in love. He’s been hurt in the past and he’s determined not to let it ever happen again. Will he be courageous enough to open his heart again when he starts to have very real feelings for Grace?
“Grace brought color and lights to my life. Without her everything is grayer and more practical than I ever realized before.”
These two were so good for each other. Charlie helped Grace build her confidence and to realize her dreams. He encouraged her at every turn and was so supportive. In turn, Grace opened up Charlie’s world and showed him that it’s possible to move on and heal after heartbreak.
Maverick Mogul is a fast paced romantic comedy that will leave the reader with a smile on their face. Full of chemistry, heart, and so many unexpected situations, it’s hilarious, steamy and so much fun. This enjoyable story is a must read!!
Another successful set up for the “Agency”.
I’ve enjoyed this series.
This is Charlie and Grace’s story.
Grace is struggling to be the best personal assistant to her wealthy clients that she can be. After her boyfriend dumped her for her best friend, she’s trying to pick herself up and move on.
Charlie is one of five friends who own one of the newest, trendy bars in the city. He has a full social calendar of weddings to attend over the summer. He needs to find a date that will not assume being his date, is a long term commitment.
He needs his cousin Olivia’s super secret, discrete escort service. (No not that kind of escort) The completely platonic fake date type of set up.
Charlie and Grace actually come from the same small mid-west town. She was his high school tutor. Helped him keep his grades up so he can play sports.
Too bad he doesn’t remember her when he literally bumps into her in a restaurant while delivering a cake to her clients spoiled, brat of a son. Causing her to be fired on the spot.
Wanting to help, Charlie has Olivia offer Grace the job as his fake date for the summer wedding season.
Both Charlie and Grace have had bad relationships. But Charlie refuses to ever be in a committed relationship again.
They definitely have chemistry. Each having inappropriate thoughts about the other.
It doesn’t take long before they start spending time together outside of the weddings.
And for all those feelings get involved.
This was a good story. Great, well developed characters.
I’ve read all of the previous books, and they are starting to feel a bit predictable and formulaic. But I do love the characters and that’s what keeps me coming back.
It’s told in dual points of view (but mostly Grace’s). No cheating. It can standalone.
I’m looking forward to seeing where this new set of bachelors take us.
Author Lila Monroe’s romantic comedies are sure things. They’re always fun, funny, and provide a satisfying end. Her characters are natural and the dialogue feels genuine. Her latest novella, Maverick Mogul, is the start of her series of standalone tales, Billionaire Bachelors Club).
Maverick Mogul features Grace, a personal assistant who is amazingly resourceful but lacking in confidence due to a recent and ugly break-up, and Charlie, a man from her distant past who is just as handsome and successful as everyone thought he would be when he ruled the campus in high school. This uber adorable romantic comedy is told in a dual POV which adds a lot to the character development and story.
I loved Charlie and Grace. They’re both characters that are easy to root for. They have an interesting shared history and currently, they have great chemistry and banter. The fake date trope is done endlessly, but Ms. Monroe seems to have mastered making it feel new. The weddings that Charlie and Grace attend are super fun adventures, and there are some added bonuses for Grace at each event. Long-time fans of Ms. Monroe will enjoy the cameos by characters from past books, and new readers will not see the connection and will not have any trouble following the story without that connection. However, I predict new-to-Lila Monroe readers will be inspired to pick up her previous rom-coms.
This is a love story about Charlie and Grace who met in high school. They weren't exactly friends but they were friendly. A matchmaker sets these two together because Charlie needs a plus one for twelve weddings and absolutely no romantic commitment. The pay and benefits are great and Grace is in between jobs and accepts. That's where our story begins.
Charlie is quite a charmer even though I was offended for Grace when he didn't recognize her when they bump into each other. Their background suggests that spent enough time together that he would at least did the old "do I know you?" routine. But I forgave him as I got to know him. He seemed like a pretty decent guy for a commitment-phobe. Grace had a low self-esteem but a huge heart. She never let life get her down. Charlie and Grace spend their 12 wedding deal getting to know each other, breaking down walls, and unpacking some baggage.
The storyline is great. Pretty original, at least it is to me. I had a little trouble feeling the connection between the MCs but it does reveal itself slowly. Well written and no major grammatical issues or huge plot holes. There was enough humor to balance out the low level angst and there were plenty of LOL moments. It ends with a sweet romantic HEA and a commitment.
I can't say that there weren't a few things that bugged me but not enough to list everything. OK, I did get tired of Grace thinking about how hot Charlie was and how she wanted him. It was a bit repetitive. But really, I enjoyed the book and I think other rom-com fans will, too.
I wasn't aware that I was picking up number 7 in this series but this is also a trope I don't usually pick up either: the fake-date/significant-other-to-true-love business. This kind of thing works for one book but for every book in a series of 12 and counting? I'm not here for that. It's beyond my suspension of disbelief to accept that a whole network of youngish, sexy, solvent New Yorkers can't fall in love unless set-up for pretend time while lying to their friends and loved ones.
But don't get me wrong. I needed a quick, sexy read to relax my mind and this fit the bill. I liked the two main characters. Grace was okay but kind of a mess as a character. In the beginning she had vintage vibes but that was never developed and her chosen career was interesting but I was stressed just contemplating it. Charlie does come off as the guy from high school who everyone liked but never thought they'd really date. Their relationship was cute especially as they already had the hometown connection. I didn't even mind Dash who gets the next book but not enough to continue the series.
The only thing that kept throwing me off might not have been an author issue. There were too many instances in which first sentence of paragraphs dropped in half or the second half of the same character's dialogue would be on separate lines making it difficult to keep up with who was talking. This could just be a formatting thing when being published which I know is hard so I won't blame the author for that but I had to knock off a star for it.
4.5 stars of heartfelt fun!
This book was so fun, but full of heart too. I do enjoy Lila Monroe and her rom com style. "Who wouldn't want to be thirty, flirty, and thriving?" AIR?!?
Grace is more together than she appears. Charlie is debonair and dashing, but he hides some inner secrets too. They reunite in an awkward moment and then re-connect again when Grace agrees to be Charlie's date to TWELVE weddings during the season. Hint - it's not really that straightforward, but that's part of the fun in reading.
Charlie isn't looking for any kind of commitment which is what having a real wedding date would entail. Grace is out of a job and there's free cake - win...win, right?!?
"He's like summer weddings, right? Fun and hot, but you're over it by fall." Oh - if only that were true.
Also "I love that he cares so much about my career and is pressing me to think big. The problem is that I also want him to press me up against any available flat surface..." Yeah - things get complicated!
Charlie is good for Grace and gets her to believe more in herself and her abilities. Watching Grace come into her own was a special extra treat. Charlie needs to realize that one disastrous failure does not equate to will always fail! That part will leave you frustrated and I did shed a few tears!
Overall - a completely, enjoyable read! Can't wait for Dash's story next!
I voluntarily requested and read an advance reader copy.
