There is no limit to how much I love Cherry Magic. These characters are so endearing. And Toyota Yuu's soft touch with ordinary-seeming people being absolutely bizarre just below the surface is SO delicious. Handsome Kurosawa is SUCH a weirdo. I love him.

I love that Adachi isn't prone to inner drama. Lots of nice developments in this volume because of that ❤️
(Also, do I need to reiterate how cute and wholesome this series is?? Feel free to tell me to shut up 😅)

Oh, I loved this one! New powers are discovered (and I just laughed) and I wonder how much we will see that happen, we see some more romance between Tsuge and Wataya (though he sees Tsuge as a dad, oh no, that poor guy is doing his best and is seen as that), there is a special part in which everyone is together and tests items for work, Adachi is honest to Kurosawa about his powers and I just loved how Kurosawa reacted to that (oh he is going to use that so much and I cannot wait to see more of it). I loved that Adachi was worried how Kurosawa would feel in regards to the mindreading and did try to be more mindful of it and I was proud that he finally chatted about it. There are some romantic moments that made me smile! I am also happy that Adachi is getting more confident in his work and people are noticing!
I wasn't such a fan of how jealous Kurosawa was at times.

Honesty is the best way forward :-) It is such a good choice that Adachi chooses to tell Kurosawa about his wizarding skills and it is rather funny that Kurosawa immediately puts this skill to use as a hidden way of flirting.

The relationship between Tsuge and Minato is also moving along nicely. Low self-esteem issues can truly be a barrier to connecting with others so it is nice to see that a cat can bridge the gap.

Well, Masato-san, time to become a daddy then 😏 Maybe I shouldn't be a little more invested in the side-plot than the main couple, but alas! Anyway, I am so relieved the conversation in this happened, it was long overdue. The conflict being immediately strewn in is a little stressful, but this series overall is very much the epitome of not-stressful, so we'll be fine :D

So much happened in this volume. I can't believe we're 5 volumes in and we are just getting a first kiss. It was worth the wait, but it was the slowest of slow burns. Adachi was worried about telling Kurosawa the truth, and it all comes to a head in this one. Finally, Kurosawa finds out his big secret! Kurosawa, acted like I thought he would and what happens afterwards, made me squeal! The preview of volume 6 has me so worried; I need it now! Luckily, the next volume is out this month.

I'm sorry I'm sorry but what is this office romance series doing playing with my heart to this extent. The cliffhanger! The depth of the platonic and romantic aspects of the relationships we're shown! Everyone is so nice and the literary sugar is going straight to my heart! I couldn't ask for anything more!

I love how Asahi spilling the beans to Kurokawa has no affect on his feelings whatsoever. "So you can read my mind? Cool, I'll just keep thinking things at you so that you understand how much I love you!"

These two continue to be absolutely adorable! I am a big fan. So excited to finally take a step forward in their relationship. 5 volumes to get some skinship in a mature manga is wild. And we haven't even gotten spicy yet! But Adachi's secret is out of the bag and a new threat is on the horizon. Can't wait. Already pre ordered for volume 6.

As soon as it finally gets good, the volume is over. While I still feel Adachi is a Debby Downer, I don’t Kurosawa’s feelings to get hurt. Hopefully we get more action in the next volume.

It only took 5 volumes but they finally did it people. We got a kiss!

The jealousy was just plain cute. But that cliffhanger ugh. Oh well. I’m excited to see how more of the relationship pans out.

This series is kind of hard to read, especially with the long wait times between the short volumes, because it's so similar to the live action show that I keep forgetting which parts I've already read, and which I've just seen. Often in slightly different timelines and settings, which makes it extra confusing.

So a lot of this volume, especially the bits with Adachi finding out about Tsuge being a wizard, and Adachi's coworker being an old friend of Tsuge's new crush, felt strangely repetitive. Didn't we cover that in the last volume or two?? I kept asking myself, going to pull the other books off the shelf to flip through them again.

Setting that aside, everything in this installment was super cute, if perhaps a bit fast-paced. Adachi's struggling with whether to tell Kurosawa about his mind-reading powers - it's something he would hate anyone to hide from him, but he's convinced the mind-reading is helping his relationship, and that Kurosawa might hate him if he finds out Adachi's been tricking him all along. It's a lot easier to keep someone interested in you if you can read their mind and give them exactly what they want!

Fortunately, Kurosawa takes the revelation really well, and oddly takes absolutely no convincing at all - you'd think he would struggle a tiny bit more with the proof side before just accepting that his boyfriend is a magical mind-reading wizard. But I suppose that's how much he loves and trusts Adachi - it doesn't really occur to him that Adachi might lie to him or do or say anything without a solid reason. And it's pretty cute how Kurosawa immediately starts making use of the mind-reading to convey all his thoughts and affections more easily and directly, especially in their workplace.

Now that this issue's been solved, the next volume will be another trope: Adachi being reassigned to a distant office, meaning a separation from Kurosawa, the romantic partner he can't tell his boss about. (His boss chooses Adachi in part because he's unmarried, and therefore easier to relocate.)

It is interesting that a lot of Adachi's success at work at this point seems to be attributed to his mind-reading powers, which he'll eventually lose once he and Kurosawa take a few more steps in their relationship. How will he maintain his confidence and proactivity once he loses his ability to tell what his bosses want? The live action did deal with this a little bit, with the contest (see, now I can't remember if that ever happened in the manga...it gets confusing!), but I think there's a lot more room to explore those kinds of themes. What happens to Adachi once he's no longer a wizard?

Tsuge and Minato was cute, too, and I laughed out loud when Minato thought of Tsuge as "dad-like." Another big hurdle to overcome, with an 8 year age gap that could seem insurmountable. (Although Minato, while younger, has some life experiences Tsuge does not.)

I also liked that Tsuge hesitated over whether to be selfish with Minato, or whether to help him patch up a friendship that could ultimately ruin his chances at ever being anything more than That Supportive Dad-Like Figure, but the fact that he made the right choice is part of what makes Minato feel warm and safe around him. It'll be fun to see that develop more, especially since I wasn't as interested in that couple in the live action.

Also loved this line from Adachi: "Every time I touched your heart...it made mine beat faster..."

What a lovely way to describe his mind-reading powers. I guess that's why Kurosawa didn't take much convincing, when it came to accepting and being appreciative of them.

My favorite volume so far! In this book, Adachi finally tells Kurosawa the truth about his ability to read minds & our four main male characters meet for the first time.

Adachi and Kurosawa invite their friends to their company as testers for new products. Kurosawa gets jealous of Tsuge (Adachi’s friend) because they seem close and Adachi touched his abs (lol). Tsuge immediately picks up on Kurosawa’s jealousy but he’s worried about his own problems.

Tsuge invited the dancer crush of his and needs Adachi’s advice since he too can now read minds as a 30 yr old virgin. While they’re talking privately, Kurosawa (the jealous and possessive guy he is) is eavesdropping and jumps to conclusions. He snags Adachi to a private room to ask if “there is someone else” and Adachi reads his mind about Tsuge. He clarifies that they’re just friends and Kuro pushes that Adachi is hiding something bc he is never so open with him in private as he is with Tsuge.

Adachi finally admits that he’s a wizard and can read minds. Kuro takes it well but he is embarrassed at first. Something I don’t understand is that Adachi tells Kuro that he couldn’t read his mind when he was drunk that time Adachi took care of him, but I thought he could?? I will have to go back and double check. Kuro seemed relieved at that. I know there is a flashback to Kuro admitting that that’s when he fell in love with Adachi, so I’m confused.

Anyways, Kuro takes advantage of Adachi’s abilities to speak to him privately in the office lol and he even lands a steamy kiss on Adachi in the office too in private after the confession.

As to Tsuge, I wasn’t too interested in his romance, but after this book, I’m rooting for him to get together with Minato. He’s a good guy, but the ending was brutal. Minato privately thinks that Tsuge is like a father figure (ooof!). Poor guy. There is an 8 yr age gap which doesn’t help.

Oh ho hooo! Adachi's secret magic lets him pick the perfect birthday gift for Kurosawa, but the secret of his mind reading sorcery is a barrier between them. Adachi squirms to imagine how awful it would be if someone was secretly reading your thoughts...

He wonders: if I allow him to know me fully, will he reject me? What's fair, what's right?
After chatting with fellow magic virgin nerd Tsuge, Adachi realizes the reason he's so reluctant to spill the magic beans is that he REALLY likes Kurosawa. It's scary because LOVE. ugh!!!

Finally Kurosawa, sending that Adachi is still keeping him at arms' length, confronts Adachi, and the truth comes out. The wall comes down, Adachi confessed that he's been accidentally hearing Kurosawa's heart's voice for months.

In stead of rejecting him, Kurosawa is just embarrassed for all the truly unhinged things he thought and mostly grateful for the magic for bringing them together. Then we get, in the immortal words of Fujisaki-san, "Kuro-Ada, Kuro-Ada, KISS KISS KISS!!"

Things are looking good for Adachi and Kurosawa as they begin a relationship together. But doubt and anxiety take over Adachi as he recognizes that he can't keep his magic powers from Kurosawa from other. And the more he focuses and aches over, the more his relationship with Kurosawa strains.

I'm going to say it again. This series is so good about implying how important communication is in any relationship. And the conversations that Adachi and Kurosawa have during these ruptured moments are so healthy and supportive. It's so lovely to see healthy romance being presented in stories and Adachi and Kurosawa are being great mascots!

Kurosawa continues to just be so happy to be able to show his affection openly to Adachi, and I love that for him too. He's so easy to please when it comes to Adachi.
