Keeper's Lodge is the concluding story in the Gordon Square, Arlington Terrace trilogy...
Picture postcard’ were the words Detective Sergeant Mike Brugge chose to describe Keeper's Lodge when they first set eyes on the stunning Scandinavian-style retreat, nestling proudly in the mountains.
They were investigating the disappearance of Rachel Blossom, a psychiatric patient with severe mental health issues. Rachel had vanished and was now classed as a missing person.
The lodge, in its idyllic setting, appeared to be her last known place of residence which, according to the website portrayal, was providing the final step towards independent living.
How was it that she had completely slipped off the grid without a trace? Had her multiple personality disorder outwitted the medical profession into thinking she was of sound mind, was it just a series of blunders by the nursing team, or was there something more sinister going on?
Follow Detective Sergeant Mike Brugge, Detective Sergeant Paul Osman and Detective Constable Mel Brugge, as they delve deep into the underworld of Keeper's Lodge.

If there’s one thing that I like doing, it’s discovering new authors. Tracy Martin-Summers is certainly a new author for me. I read the synopsis for ‘Keeper’s Lodge’ and it certainly appealed to me. So without further ado, I grabbed a cup of tea, grabbed my copy of the book and settled down for what proved to be an interesting afternoon of reading. I did enjoy reading ‘Keeper’s Lodge’ but more about that in a bit.
When I was invited to take part in the blog tour for ‘Keeper’s Lodge’, I hadn’t realised that it was actually the third book in a trilogy. Saying that though it reads perfectly well as a standalone. I started reading the book and I found that I just couldn’t stop reading. The story and the characters intrigued me and I had to keep reading to see if the story turned out as I expected it to. My Kindle wasn’t exactly glued to my hand but it might as well have been because it travelled everywhere with me. I couldn’t bear to miss a single second of the story. This was one of those stories that stayed with me whether I had the book in my hand or not. If I wasn’t reading the book, I was thinking about it. If I had to put the book to one side then I would immediately look forward to being able to pick the book up again. In that sense, reading ‘Keeper’s Lodge’ became addictive. All too quickly I reached the end of ‘Keeper’s Lodge’. I found ‘Keeper’s Lodge’ to be a gripping, tense and dramatic read, which certainly kept me guessing and which kept me on the edge of my seat.
‘Keeper’s Lodge’ is well written. The author certainly knows how to grab the reader’s attention and then draw them into what proves to be one hell of a compelling story. Tracy has one of those writing styles that makes the reader feel as though they are part of the story and at the heart of the action. That’s how I felt at any rate. Reading ‘Keeper’s Lodge’ felt like being on an at times scary and unpredictable rollercoaster ride with several twists and turns along the way. As I mentioned earlier in my review, this is the third book in a series and can easily be read as a standalone but because I am a bit OCD, I fully intend to read the series in full and from the beginning.
In short, I really enjoyed reading ‘Keeper’s Lodge’ and I would recommend this book to other readers. I will certainly be reading more of Tracy’s work in the future. The score on the Ginger Book Geek board is a very well deserved 4* out of 5*.

Keeper’s Lodge brings us straight back to DS Mike Brugge, DS Paul Osman and DC Mel Brugge and a world and investigation that they can’t seem to escape from. In their current investigation they are investigating the disappearance of Rachel Blossom who has severe mental health issues who has now vanished from her current residence. The detectives are no strangers to Rachel’s story having been introduced to her in the first book in the trilogy Gordon Square and subsequently meet her again in the second book Arlington Terrace. The detectives are informed that Rachel was receiving psychiatric care for her multiple personality disorder and various other mental health issues when she was moved into Keeper’s Lodge, a self-contained independent living facility. A short time after her arrival Rachel disappears without a trace. As the detectives delve into Rachel and Keeper’s Lodge they are faced with questions. Where did Rachel go and why? Did Rachel leave of her own free will or is something more sinister afoot? In addition to investigating Rachel’s disappearance a ghost from the past appears in Mel’s life. Is this a figment of her imagination and paranoia or has this ghost actually returned.

I was first introduced to this author when I read Gordon Square which was closely followed by Arlington Terrace. Both are fantastic books. The storyline of this trilogy starts in Gordon Square so it is important to read the previous books in the series to not only follow the story but also the characters. Like the other books this was an amazing read and one that pulled me out of a reading slump. As soon as I knew that the author was writing a third book I could not wait to read it to find out what happened next. There’s something about the way this book is written that you feel part of the storyline and part of the investigation. From the outset there was just something about Keeper’s Lodge that felt ominous and that didn’t feel right and it’s that same feeling I got when I was reading Arlington Terrace. That feeling stayed with me as I read and then caught me off guard when the story developed.

Like the previous books, this book was well written with an original storyline which kept me on my toes from the first page. The writing style was atmospheric, descriptive, creepy, chilling at times and immersive. As a reader I’ve read books which were part of a series which ran out of steam part way through, however this did not happen in this series, so this was a reader’s dream. I cannot fault the story in anyway. It was nice to catch up with Mike, Mel and Paul. At the same time as the investigation into the disappearance of Rachel is underway there is also the conclusion to the storyline that involved Mel which I’m glad was dealt with in this book because it felt like the whole story had come full circle. The author has done a brilliant job in ensuring the character and storyline threads are pulled together, bringing the story to a satisfactory conclusion. Having said that there was a big plot twist towards the end of this book that I did not see coming and was cleverly placed. The twist was not only shocking but thought provoking.

I am a little sad to say goodbye to Mike, Mel and Paul but I do hope there will be more books following their investigations in the future.

I would highly highly recommend Gordon Square, Arlington Terrace and Keeper’s Lodge to any reader who enjoys a thriller with a police investigation that has real characters and a story that will keep you guessing.

Wow, Keepers Lodge is a stunning conclusion to the Gordon Square, Arlington Terrace trilogy. Tense and dark, this book kept me gripped from the very beginning. I loved being back with Mike, Mel and the team and was intrigued to see where the story of Rachel and Linda would take us. I wasn’t disappointed, Keepers Lodge is everything I expected from Tracy and more. A brilliant atmospheric detective read with twists aplenty.

Keeper’s Lodge by Tracy Martin-Summers is the excellent conclusion of this trilogy. I’ve loved each book and when the tour invite for this one showed up in my ail, I was excited to join in. This can be read as a standalone, however, the trilogy is so good, I recommend reading them in order!

Tracy Martin-Summers is an excellent writer. The story draws the reader in from the beginning and keeps them invested until the end. This is one of those books that will have you saying, “one more chapter,” until you get to the end.

Twists, turns, red herrings…this one has all the makings for an addictive thriller. I really enjoyed this. I’m sad the trilogy is over but will be looking forward to more from this author.

Don’t miss out on this one!

The trilogy Gordon Square, Arlington Terrace, Keepers Lodge by Tracy Martin-Summers
Gordon Square
On a cold, windy November night, Detective Sergeant Mike Brugge and his partner Detective Constable Mel Bailey come across a girl, age unknown, in the parkland in Gordon Square. She was frail, malnourished, dirty and was covered in excrement.
What had happened to this girl?
Revealing hypnosis sessions allow them to glimpse some of her pain and suffering. Then, follow their story deep into the horrors that unfold, causing chaos and disruption in their own lives.
The detectives are about to discover a horrific, gut-wrenching story that spanned over four decades. But will it end?
Arlington Terrace is the sequel to Gordon Square:
It was probably not the most obvious choice for a three-month sabbatical. Still, Emma coming to Holden seemed totally idyllic. She had heard so much about it and could picture every segment etched like braille in her mind. Now she wanted to fill in the dots and bring it to life to see it for herself first-hand.
It was April 2026, and she had secured a three month, off the record sublet in a beautiful apartment called Arlington Terrace. The apartment with a black front door. It was perfect for her, required no references, and no questions were being asked as to why she was there. No one even knew she was heading that way, so she could slip in unnoticed and live incognito amongst the locals.
So how was it that Julie found her again when she was so careful not to leave a trail and why she didn't feel alone, ever? Was she going mad, or was she simply being paranoid. What could she do to stop these tormenting acts from happening and make people believe that she was the one being persecuted?
Detective Sergeant Mike Brugge, Detective Constable Mel Brugge and Detective Sergeant Paul Osman are back at the heart of yet another investigation deep in the heart of Holden City Central. Follow them as they try to unravel a crime that takes them back to a gut-wrenching case that has infected yet another generation.
Keeper's Lodge is the concluding story in the Gordon Square, Arlington Terrace trilogy.

I thoroughly enjoyed all three of these novels; they are well written and have great twists and turns in each plot. In addition, I enjoyed getting to know the characters and how they developed as the books progressed. I was gripped from the first page of book one to the last of book three.
I am happy to recommend them.

Keeper’s Lodge by Tracy Martin-Summers
(Book 3 in the Gordon Square, Arlington Terrace trilogy)
Detective Sergeant Mike Brugge, Detective Sergeant Paul Osman and Detective Constable Mel Brugge work at Holden CID. Mike and Mel are married and have a son called Jack who’s at Nursery (and a lovely character).
The Prologue begins in 2023. Rachel Blossom is a patient in a residential psychiatric hospital (Victoria’s Retreat) with dissociative identity disorder. This was a very interesting start to te story and drew me in straight away.
Then Chapter One is set three years later. Linda (Rachel’s sister) has been attacked by psychopath Joe Treville and the police are questioning her.
Meanwhile, Rachel is missing and her last known whereabouts seem to be Keeper’s Lodge - a kind of halfway house with an on-site warden, where they stay before hopefully being able to live completely independently. As the police investigate, it seems Rachel has disappeared and they find it hard to find a paper trail from the places she stayed in. Something is clearly not right…
There are lots of different characters mentioned and at first, it’s a bit hard to get everyone straight and work out who they are. However, once I got into the swing of it, I did enjoy it. Though I would definitely recommend reading the first two books before this one, if possible, as this is the concluding book in the trilogy.
It’s an intriguing story and you are never quite sure where it’s going to go, it certainly isn’t a predictable or boring read at all. I also thought it was a very good idea featuring characters with different mental health issues. The idea of trying to connect with one person’s identity out of several was a fascinating idea and brought a unique perspective to the novel.
One little niggle - While I accept the copy I received may well have been a proof copy (though nothing on it says so), I really must comment on the amount of errors in the text – repetition, missing commas and question marks, inconsistent spelling (Casio/Cassio), even the wrong ‘they’re’ at one point. This definitely needed a better check before publishing.
But that can easily be sorted and then we’ll have a really good novel. It’s a unique premise (which is hard to find in fiction), a cleverly written plot with engaging characters and it will keep you reading until the end, to find out what is going to happen. Tracy Martin-Summers is a talented writer and I would recommend her work.

I was lucky enough to have read the two previous books in the trilogy that Keeper's Lodge belongs too. This is a trilogy that I would advise you to read them all in order, to follow the story and the characters too.

I loved each book of this trilogy and Keeper's Lodge was no exception either. Tracy Martin-Summers has a way of writing that pulls you right into the story and ensuing investigation with DS Mike Brugge, DS Paul Osman and DC Mel Brugge. It was great to catch up with these three coppers.

Another well written and original story that had me on edge as soon as I started reading. As immersive as the rest of the series with writing that was so atmospheric, giving me goosebumps as the story unfolded.

This final book has the team investigating the disappearance of Rachel, a woman with mental health issues. Alongside this there is also a long running story thread involving Mel that Tracy Martin-Summers brings to its conclusion. An intriguing story that takes the reader on a journey that is never predictable. I couldn't guess which way the story was going to go at any point.

The author has clearly done so much research into mental health issues to get this right. It was a fascinating read for me and one that had me reading far past my bedtime. Every time I planned to go to sleep something happened and I just had to carry on reading. The amount of red herrings, twists and turns in this story had me reading it in no time.

A superb conclusion to a trilogy that I wish wasn't ending. I do hope we get to see more of the Brugge's at some point in the future.

This is the third book in a trilogy; the Brugge and Bailey (DS Mike Brugge and DC Mel Bailey) detective series and although it could be read as a stand-alone I would definitely recommend reading the three books in order, there is a strong thread running through the series. A well written book that is largely about mental health and the treatment of psychiatric patients and is at times quite disturbing and upsetting. Be aware.

Briefly, the police are looking for a missing psychiatric patient, Rachel Blossom, and their investigations lead them to Keeper’s Lodge, a home for recovering psychiatric patients where they were reintegrated back into society. Meanwhile Mel is becoming more and more stressed after hearing that her brutal rapist has been released from prison. She is convinced he has been in their house but Mike thinks she is imagining it.

This is more police procedural than the previous books but with a large helping of psychological thriller. There are some clever red herrings that had me fooled and a good storyline. Although the police didn’t quite achieve their initial aim at Keeper’s Lodge what they did uncover was much larger than they could have ever imagined. And the investigations continued with chapter 25 neatly tying up all the loose ends. A satisfying end to an excellent trilogy.

This is the concluding story in a trilogy and what a way to finish! Before the tour began I went and picked up the first two books in this series ‘Gordon Square’ and ‘Arlington Terrace’ and I thoroughly enjoyed them both and felt! I couldn’t wait to see what unfolded in the third and final book!

First thing is first, you may be wondering if this can be read as a standalone?

Yes, but I would strongly recommend picking up the first two and starting from the beginning, trust me you won’t regret it!

There was something happening in every chapter that made me want to keep reading, so many twists, turns and red herrings! A perfect mix of crime, thriller and absolute horror! Really enjoyable read!

This is what I've been waiting for, and I wasn't disappointed. The final book in the trilogy by Tracy Martin-Summers, and what a perfect end it was. I've totally loved these books.

Keeper's Lodge can be read as a standalone, but I'd advise reading the first two books in the series (Gordon Square and Arlington Terrace) to fully appreciate the completely addictive storyline.

There are twist and turns in every chapter, and these kept me enthralled and turning the pages, as the story unfolded.

I've loved the characters of DS Mike Brugge and his wife, DC Mel Brugge and how their relationship has gone from strength to strength.
I seriously looking forward to seeing what Tracy writes next.

A huge solid 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
A must read.

I have loved this trilogy. I read the books back to back as I when I finished one I couldn’t wait to read the next.

I really like the authors writing style it completely draws you in. It is so tense at times and you really have no idea what is coming next.

I loved the main characters Mike, Mel and Paul. I adored the relationship with Mike and Mel and how it has developed over the series.

So many twists and turns and the one at the end, I certainly didn’t see that coming!

I will definitely look out for books from this author in the future.

It's the concluding part to the Gordon Square, Arlington Terrace series, I found it easily read as a standalone, but will be going back to read the others in the series to find out more of the backstory and get to know the characters more.

An enjoyable read, riveting and immersive. I read the book in one sitting it was so good.

With a dark, atmospheric air about it the book is suspenseful and nail bitingly good.

Many thanks to Rachel's Random Resources for my tour spot.

What a perfect end to a brilliant series of books.

I have been obsessed with this series since I read Book 1, Gordon Square and I've been wanting to get to the bottom of what's been going on.

As with all the other stories, I've loved Mike and Mels relationship, even more so in this book. Certain parts of this story really got me feeling all the emotions and it was incredibly well written.

Perfect ending to a fab series but I'm also gutted that this is the last we will see from Mike and Mel Brugge.

I adore this series and have been so excited to read the last in the trilogy and it did not disappoint.

The authors writing is so tense and intriguing, you are completely drawn into the storyline and won’t have a clue what the ending will be.

I could not recommend this book more and am eagerly awaiting her future books.
