Heart of a Highland Warrior

Rate this book
A bloodthirsty evil stalks the Connor Clan…

Brave, beautiful, and haunted by her past, demon hunter Anna MacKinley will do anything to help the Connors. Under divine orders, the headstrong warrior travels the world, slaying demons and vampires. When she stumbles upon a hidden stone fortress while searching for her clan’s lost Book of Battles, dark forces swiftly imprison her—and she discovers her cell mate is a gorgeous Scottish warrior who has no memories, but looks strikingly familiar.

And only a secret from the past can win the day…and her heart.

The warriors of the centuries-old Connor Clan search for their missing time-vault and the powerful relic within. What they find is a grave…and a kilt-clad body they fear is the long-lost Tavis Connor. But there may yet be more to the Highland warrior’s fate than a pile of bones. Desperate to save his brother and his clan’s Book of Battles from a demon hell-bent on destruction, Tavis begins a 150-year quest that will end in modern-day New York. But when he wakes, he discovers he’s the one in need of help. His only hope of rescue is a bonny lass who claims to be a warrior. A warrior waging war on demons…and his heart.

I won an ARC through Goodreads. I was told I did not have to provide a review. But I loved the book so I am going to.

The book starts off with Tavis, in the past, in the prologue. I don't want to go into that part, because I don't want to spoil anything. Then the book goes into the present, with Bree, from Awaken the Highland warrior and a few other returning characters, as Bree find another hole in her backyard. While she also has a vision of Anna in serious trouble. So of course they have to find her. I personally love when characters from previous books make appearances in book series. This book has a lot of that along with Tavis and Anna's story. I like that and it just makes a book stronger I think.

There isn't a whole lot I feel I can tell without spoiling it for others. But once again Anita Clenney has told a wonderful. I love how Anita puts humor into a story, one of many scenes that come to mind is when Tavis has to go to a club, he shocked at how people are dressed and has to cover his ears because of the music he has never heard.

The story keeps you on your toes wondering what is going to happen next, I have to say I loved Tavis, he was both hard and sweet. I loved Anna as well, she was strong, always trying to get things done. Of course Tavis and Anna together was heart pounding. I enjoyed the banter between everyone, I think it connects you more to the story.

There a couple things that made me go what!!!!? In a totally good way. While the ending is perfect. I wouldn't change a thing, and I am looking forward to more from this Author.

I hope this review helped, I couldn't say much without spoiling.

Despite initially being confused as I didn't realize this was the third book in a series, I managed to grasp the concept fairly quickly and ended up thoroughly enjoying it. The story was quite action packed and had a lot of interesting elements to it that really captured my interest. And I just have a weak spot for time travelling Highland warriors! This was totally a guilty pleasure read for me.

This is a 4.5 star
Ms. Clenney does a great job of weaving an intriguing story about Anna and her two cell mates imprisoned in a hidden stone fortress. One is a stranger who has no idea who he is but she feels she knows. The other is just scary but reminds her of someone she once knew.

Anna is a strong warrior women who never wants to marry and have kids. After finding out the secret about her unknown father she is more determined than ever.

What I find even more interesting in this book is the fact that it took me a while to figure out who the amnesia man was. With all the reading I do I almost always guess early and exact, so though this was a frustration for me I was intrigued and on a quest to solve the mystery.

The scary mystery man kept me guessing till the very end and it was a shock. I can't wait to see how the next book starts and if it takes up from this shocking ending.

I do recommend reading this series in order. They are a fast exciting read. For a full review check out my blog: sportochicksmusings.blogspot. com

I loved this book!! You have to pay attention to the characters, the settings, and plot twists to get the best reading experience. Warriors saving warriors--warriors saving vampires-- what a great storyline!! Lots of twists, turns, laughs, lovin, and sexy warriors in kilts. A turn of events at the end that makes you want to reach for the next book in the series--which isn't out yet. Worth the wait tho!! I can't wait to see what happens next!!

Anita Clenney never disappoints. Heart of a Highland Warrior has everything, vampires, demons, time travel, strong women and brawny highlanders. Truly a must read just like the first 2 in this series!

I tried to like this one. I swear I did. But the book had too many word choice errors. There was a lot of fluff and repetition. Unfortunately, none of the twists amazed me. The book could have been executed much better than this.

Heart of a Highland Warrior is the third book in the Highland Warrior Series by Anita Clenney. I waited patiently for this book, and when I finally got it on my Kindle, I read it in two nights. Well, it was almost one, but I had to quit when the words started to blur. If you haven't read any of the previous books in the series, I would suggest you start with the first book, Awaken the Highland Warrior. If you start with this one first, you may be a little lost. Now on to my review.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It has everything you could want in a book, sexy highlanders, strong women (mentally and physically), love, passion, suspense, and good against evil. Anita has wrote another wonderful book, that held my interest right up to the very end!

The story starts with Bree finding an old dug up grave, and she just loves old graves (don't we all... uh, no). Inside the grave is a wooden coffin that contains an old skeleton. Whoever the dead man was, he is wearing a kilt and light colored shirt, just like what Faelan was wearing when she discovered him in the Time Vault. Bree & Faelan mistakenly come to conclusion that it's Tavis, Faelans younger brother, and begin preparing his funeral.

Tavis has been watching over Faelan since they were children. He has traveled 150 years in the future to protect Faelan and help him destroy his assigned demon. Tavis is being held captive by an powerful, ancient demon. He doesn't know why he is being held captive, or how he got there. He doesn't remember his name, who he is or anything about himself. It is up to Anna to help him find the answers.

Tavis s' character is strong, handsome, protective, and loyal to his clan and those he loves. Tavis has to learn how to live in this new time that he finds himself in. It is humorous the way he reacts to music, cars, and the way the women dress and act now. While getting used to a new time, he has to find the Book of Battles, fight demons, and protect Anna all at the same time.

Anna is afraid to love anyone, she is a little stand offish, and carrying around a big chip on her shoulder. She is afraid to get close to anyone, because the past has taught her that she is unlovable. When she gets trapped in a fortress following a man that she believes may lead her to the Book of Battles, she knows that she made a bad mistake. She must fight to stay alive, find a way to escape, and help a mysterious man in the cell beside her.

I love all of Anita's books in the 'Highland Warrior' Series! Heart of a Highland Warrior is my second favorite, after Faelan in Awaken the Highland Warrior. This book was action, action, action from start to finish. I didn't want to put the book down. In this book many questions were answered, but there were still a few that I had from Angus: A Highland Warrior Brief (novella) that didn't get answered in Heart of a Highland Warrior. I am sure Anita will answer those in the next book.

If you are like me and you liked Shay's aunt Nina and her cousin Matilda, have no fear you get more of them in this book. I found myself laughing out loud at Matilda. All of your favorite Connor Warriors are in this book. I love that in each book in the series all of the warriors make an appearance, so we get to keep up with all of them.

In the front of the book there is a Character Index. I am so glad that Mrs Clenney put that in this book. Now we can keep up with who's who. If you enjoyed the other books in the series so far, you will enjoy this one even more. I can't wait until the next book in the series! Write Anita, write!

Another book to continue the story of the Conner Clan , a band of Scottish warriors charged by Archangel Michael to protect the earth from demons. These brave men know the secret to time travel but it's a hard life leaving behind those who you love. Destined to keep fighting the Conner clan are alive and living centuries beyond their time as both descendants and original warriors continue their battle.
Tavis Conner wanted nothing more than to help save his brother Faelan when he followed him into the future. It's imperative that none of the demons get their hands on an ancient book that lists all the warriors and their strengths but Tavis hadn't expected to be captured by the one thing he's hunting . Now he's held prisoner and cruelly tortured with no clear memory of who or what he is but one things certain when he gets the chance he is going to rain down a world of pain on his jailers!
Anna is that rarest of things a female warrior! Determined to pull her weight and take out the demons that stalk the world she will do whatever it takes . She's still hurting from the recent death of her friend Angus when she overhears two men plotting against the Conners. Following one of them she discovers an ancient castle hidden by magic and within its depths a man who is clearly a warrior but has no recollection of it. Anna wants nothing more than to help the man escape but ends up being captured herself and then her worst nightmares come true! This is a series best read in order as there's an awful lot going on. I think if you just pick this book to read without the benefit of previous books then it might be a little confusing. There are a lot of characters involved in these books and keeping straight in my head just who is who and how they connect is a complicated thing at first. These larger than life characters are quite a complicated bunch and the author has done a good job of making then all feel different and individual. It's an engaging storyline and what started out as demons versus warriors, has blossomed into a far more complicated plot with the addition of vampires and even hybrids! There's lots of magic in this book and it's full of twists and turns to keep this readers attention.
I think what made this book just so intense though was funnily enough the demons! I loved that even though they are the bad guys the author made them almost good! Demons are bad and yet the ones in this story are just so interesting. It's a wild ride that we go on with poor Tavis traveling forward in time but not knowing quite what his purpose is. Anna's timely intervention makes all the difference but I think this is were some readers might flinch. There's a scene between these two that will have you screaming No! A romance is brewing between them but it's not starting off on the best footing! You have been warned.
So did I enjoy it! Yes this series features strong alpha males who just want to take care of their women and Tavis fits right in. Strong feisty heroines who don't care how hard headed their men are. I particularly enjoyed Tavis's musings as he struggled to come to terms with the modern world and laughed out loud a couple of times . There's clearly more to come and I'd happily read more from this author.

Anna is back after losing Angus... Everybody is looking into an empty grave... Anna gets caught snooping & meets Tavis, Faelan's brother. Nobody knew he was here! Now she has to rescue both of them along with keep a few secrets, battle a few demons & vampires, then meet up with the others... Simple for a warrior like Anna? Nothing goes quite like she plans, secrets have a way of coming out at the worse possible moment, & the ending leaves you with a smile as well as a huge "Hurry with the next one!" Some secrets still exist... Read on to discover more about Anna & Tavis!

Another great addition to the Connor Clan Series!! I had trouble putting the book down once I picked it up to start reading. It wasn't hard to figure out who the prisoner was at the beginning, but I always enjoy how Anita weaves her tale waiting for the right moment to let the cat out of the bag.

I'm not sure how I'm going to wait for the next book as the ending left us in a huge cliffhanger. I was shocked as to who showed up! Should make for a very interesting next book.

Anita Clenney has done it again with another of her Highland Warrior novels! This story has danger, intrigue, romance and a whole bunch of sexy warriors...and the best part is that women are represented as warriors! Plenty of twists and turns and not to give anything away, but Faelan isn't the only one left of his family...definitely a must read!

Clean Handsome Highlander books

Love this author and her books. Clean, holds your interest all to the end, and has outstanding characters. The story line is great and each book has it's own, especially with the same characters. Recommend this series for all readers, especially if you like highlanders.

A good story

The first part of Anna and Tavis' story read quickly. However, things got muddy and disjointed. Matilda is a character the stories could do without.
Tavis is Faelen's brother. He had also been put in a time vault but on purpose.
He had been found but then captured. The story goes on from there.

Never say never, you may end up eating your words.

I would rate this book with it's highest rating. I would recommend these books to young teens. It teaches loyalty, kindness, and family. When Anna or any of the warriors have a problem they all work together to help. They do not judge you by your parents.

Awesome addition to Clenney's "Highland Warrior" series! I didn't really care for Anna's character, she was too wishy-washy and ungrateful. But I loved that Clenney brought in Faelan's brother, Tavis!

No werewolves

Anna and Tavis. What a great story. Not killing a demon but putting him away. I can't reveal all the secrets. Fast paced action book. I wondered how it would end or stop. There's more...

Another warrior couple

Anna was never going to get married Or have children. What in her past made Anna make this vow? Why is Anna going to change her mind about both? And what does the "experiment" have to do with it? I loved this book. It was exciting and full of mysteries.
