I was never a girl to drool over the hockey players at our academy—they’re all egotistical jerks. But since my father is the coach of Scotia Storms, everywhere I turn, there’s a player—in more ways than one.

I’m smart enough to know they don’t just avoid me because I’m the coach’s daughter. They avoid me because I’m a nerdy drama student with no game.

With winter break upon us, I plan to escape to Florida, to where no one knows my past. Or that I’m the butt of every hockey player’s joke. It’s true, I overheard the hurtful bet no player had the balls to take.

Not that I’d hand over my pesky V-card to any of them. Nope, I plan to take care of that problem on a beach down south.

Until the storm of the century throws a monkey wrench into my plans, and I find myself snowed-in with a smoking hot Southie. I figured he was the perfect guy to help me with my pesky problem—until my stupid heart got involved.

How could I avoid it when he was sweet and kind, and so different from the guys at the academy?

I begin to dream about our future, until the storm breaks and I realize he’s everything I never wanted and I’m everything that can destroy his future.

It was okay.

Like it wasn’t bad.

There were some super witty lines but then there was a lot of terribly cringe stuff said.

And the entire bet line had a ton of holes and just didn’t fit / make sense.

Just OK.

This one had a cute premise--hero and heroine are stuck together in a motel in a snowstorm, and there's only one bed (because he gave his room up to an elderly couple, bonus nice guy points!) They're each keeping secrets, but the reasons behind them are fairly believable: he's the son of a famous hockey player and wants to be seen for himself for once, she lets slip that she hates hockey players (her dad's a coach, and there was a bet among his players involving her that she found out about) so of course he's definitely not going to say who he is. So far, not to bad.

But...more than 80% of the book is them stranded (there's a fairly long teaser excerpt at the end, which complicates the math). Sure, they spend some time chatting, but they're keeping their secrets too which makes their ILYs seem more than a little premature. They have A LOT of sex, which I'm not opposed to, but it shouldn't take the place of actually getting to know each other. The motel apparently has a magic kitchen--they eat well every meal and never run low of supplies--and of course one of their fellow stranded motorists is a chef. Most of the rest of the people at the motel are the geriatric equivalent of plot moppets--there and making occasional comments/holding impromptu dances when the author needs them to be, but then quietly going to their rooms/to bed early when Sawyer and Chase need to use the lobby or go hang out at the pond with the only other youngish couple there. The reason why Chase loses contact with Sawyer after leaving the motel is totally contrived--did he seriously go out to move his car out of the way of the plow with his suitcase if he was planning on coming back to talk with Sawyer? Because they woke up, found out he had to move it, and then boom! He was gone with no mention of packing or how he got his stuff afterwards. Not to mention his grand gesture was kinda...cringy and awkward. And

So...just not for me. I need a lot more actual get-to-know-you time to actually believe in an HEA for these two. I'm not saying it couldn't be in the cards for them, but I need to see them put more work into it to make me buy into it.

"This is the type of book that you just can’t wait to read what happens next but also you really don’t want it to finish just for it to keep going on and on. I was absolutely invested in Chase & Sawyer’s story right from the beginning. 70% of this book is based on them being stranded because of a snow storm. And what better place to get to know each other with a bit of forced proximity? But the following 30% had my heart leaping into my throat just praying these two would work out their misunderstandings.
Even after finishing this wonderful story I am placated knowing that this is the first book in a brand new series. No surprises that I am looking forward to getting my hands on each and every one of them. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced readers copy of this book."

"Folly Mountain, " I explain. "Worst place to be in a storm..."
Unless of course, you get stranded with a handsome and buff Hockey player in a hotel without power.
Set in Nova Scotia, Away Game by Cathryn Fox was a fun and entertaining read.

I really, really, really, liked this story! Sawyer and Chase are stranded together and aren’t completely honest about who they are, but they definitely have chemistry. They were fun, they were sweet, they were funny, they were hot, they were just nice people to be around. As they get to know each other, they let their true selves show with the other, and the bond between them strengthens and tightens in a very short time. All is well until circumstances separate them, only to have reality barge in. A little maneuvering by Chase has everything set back to right, and into the forever, in a very short time <3

Pure sweet fun, and filthy perfection!!

Sawyer and Chase meet during a snowstorm and get snowed in together, but it's pure chance that Chase sees Sawyer stranded along a snowy highway and stops to help her.

He was on his way to visit a new school for a potential hockey transfer, but the snow was so thick after he picked up Sawyer they barely made it to the nearest motel and had to stop or chance getting stranded together out in the cold. At least in the motel they have shelter and food and together they spend several days snowed in along with several other guests, but it isn't spent in boredom. The adventures during their snowy time spent together are sweet and fun and down right steamy. I couldn't put this book down for even one moment.

There is an instant connection between Sawyer and Chase, even as they ride in the car up to the motel. That connection doesn't stop even once. While they both don't give each other their last names, for their own reasons, they enjoyed each other's company more than they ever have with anyone else's. Having nothing to do, no pressure, no complications, basically nothing but time really opened up the opportunity for them to get to know one another and truly have some fun. It was dating at the most basic level without all the pressure or pomp and circumstance.

Then when you get them between the sheets....fanning myself....wowza!! They had a sensual banter between them on top of just being sizzling hot, it truly made for delightful reading and the need for fresh panties after every smexy moment.

It was supposed to be her perfect escape, a way to leave her past behind, and where everyone is a stranger and wouldn't have the foggiest idea who she was or where she came from. But then the snowstorm of all snowstorms happens, and she finds herself stranded along the road, with no hope of catching her flight on time. It's as if the world is against her... Or is it?

Then a handsome stranger happens upon her and offers to give her a lift to the next town... and suddenly that special vacation she was planning completely slips her mind. Now the only thing on her mind is that handsome stranger with a heart of gold!

Between the pages of Away Game lies a wickedly entertaining tale about two young people who weren't searching for love... but found it on a desolate snow covered road with help from Mother Nature! These two had perfect match written all over them, they had this undeniable connection that constantly radiated sparks and kept the heat simmering between them. At this point in their lives love wasn't really a concern of theirs, they had big dreams to conquer and school work to focus on, but after being trapped in a motel room together and making eyes at one another it took on a whole new meaning. I loved every single second I spent with these two, they made me smile, laugh out loud, and blush the whole way through! Highly recommend!

I requested an advanced copy of this title from the publisher, and I am voluntarily leaving my honest and unbiased opinion.

We all know I’m a sucker for a sports romance and this is hands down one of the best I’ve read in a while. Two strangers snowed in together deciding to make the most of their time together? SIGN.ME.UP. Chase and Sawyer OWN MEE! I loved this book so much. It was enough to even have me liking tropes I’m not usually a fan of!

It’s adorable, sweet, wholesome, ridiculously laugh out loud funny. The characters are so loveable and I can guarantee you’ll have a fab time reading about them. There wasn’t a single character I didn’t enjoy.

These two just had so much chemistry from the get go. They fit so well together and the banter between them was perfect. I adored the sweet and vulnerable moments they had with each other and how open they were even as strangers. I loved Danielle and Trev too, would 100% read a book about those two BUT I cannot wait for Matt and Kennedy’s book, someone please sneaky sneak me a copy 😬

It was such a simple read but so entertaining, sometimes that all you need in a book. It’ll warm your heart and have you giggling to your hearts content.

For lovers of:

Strangers to Lovers
Forced Proximity
Cinnamon roll hero
Adorably Chaotic heroine

𝗔𝗪𝗔𝗬 𝗚𝗔𝗠𝗘 is book 1 in Cathryn Fox’s new series - Scotia Storms and starts us off with a bang or should I say blizzard! Chase and Sawyer, two strangers, are snowed in when Mother Nature decides to up her snow game.

They are both keeping parts of themselves hidden, each for very good reasons, and despite that, they fall hard for each other. He see’s the beautiful girl in front of him and loses himself in her sweetness. The pain in her eyes undoes him and he can’t resist his attraction to her or his need for her. She is charmed by the hot man with the cute dimple, but falls for him when she see’s his goodness and kindness towards others.

They may be forced to share a room and a bed by circumstance but are unable to safeguard their heart from each other by fate. I was over the moon with their happily ever after and look forward to getting glimpses of them in future books in the series.

I’m giving 𝗔𝗪𝗔𝗬 𝗚𝗔𝗠𝗘 the judy.ann.loves.books stamp of approval, TBR and Enjoy.

I really enjoyed this first installment of the new Scotia Storm series. While I’m a big hockey and hockey romance fan, I tend to stay away from stories than feature college age MCs. And while Chase and Sawyer fall into this category, their connection really grabbed my interest.
A snowstorm might not scream meet-cute, but it’s where Chase finds Sawyer stranded after a spin out. Soon, they start to fall for each other, but both are keeping secrets. Their connection is closer than either realizes.
Chase and Sawyer have both sizzling hot chemistry as well as a sweet build up to some fast but serious feelings. It’s not hard to like and root for them as a couple and individuals. Ms. Fox has a hit series on her hands if every pairing was as electric as this one was. I’ll be reading the next book for sure.

This is the first in a new series and this is Sawyer and Chase’s story. Sawyer is the daughter of the coach of the Scotia Storms, and everyway she turns there is a player. Chase was on his way to visit a new school for a potential hockey transfer, when he comes across Sawyer, and they are snowed into together during a snowstorm, with nothing to do but get to know each other. These two are not looking for love, but it found them anyway. This is a beautifully written story which is sweet, fun, entertaining, and with humor, witty banter, and love, which leads to a steamy and addictive page turner. I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.

What a great story! 5 stars for this one!
What happens when you pick up a stranger on the side of the road in a snow storm, and get stranded at a hotel? Chase is on his way to visit with his friend and also check out a school he wants to play hockey at! Along the way he picks up Sawyer, whose car went off the road and together they end up stranded for days. These two make the best of it, and Chase really goes all out to make Sawyer feel special!
Very sweet characters who both leave out important information about their lives, that they don't want the other to know. Will it come back and bite one of them? Read along and find out!

I really enjoyed Sawyer and Chase's story. It's so sweet, swoony and entertaining. I loved both of them as characters. They definitely have chemistry and insta-connection. I loved their witty banter, it's entertaining. They really got to know each other without getting too personal as they were stranded together. I loved how their story went and how Chase is all-in with her. I loved every second of reading their story.

Cathryn is a master story teller. When she writes a book she transports you to the location and keeps you captivated in the series of events that transpire. Chase and Sawyer are two people stranded in a snow storm and connect to each other so well. The perfectly timed comedy has you smiling as you read the love story of these two. Spicy, with all the feels and the turmoil each character has to overcome. Loved it.

Delightful

A great story with two lovely people riddled with issues that impact their daily lives. The chance to be themselves without all their ‘baggage’ gives them the license to enjoy each other.
We run through so many emotions; heartwarming to heartbreaking, humorous to serious, and all points in between.
I loved this so much, I’m off to get the series.
Highly recommended

Sawyer and Chase

It was a nice read. Sawyer and Chase get to know each other during a snow storm. They get stuck in a motel in a small town. They get involved, then later discover she is the daughter of his new hockey coach. They both have insecurities they end up taking a while to deal with. During their time together snowed in, they have some pretty hot moments.

This book was cute and a nice quick read, but ultimately predictable. I found some of the scenes repetitive, and the ending was definitely something I saw coming. I did read this book in three hours, so I’ll check that off my TBR!
