I’m stranded on a strange planet and the alien who just rescued me? He thinks I’m his mate.

Hina

I’m supposed to be dead, but I just woke up on a crash site, on an alien planet. I do the only thing I can think of, survive.

When a strange feral-looking alien chases after me with his monstrous animal companion, those odds seem stacked against me. Except he rescues me from what would have been certain death, for real this time.

I can’t understand a word he says, but his message is clear.

He thinks I’m his mate.

At first, that seems terrifying, even if he is all sexy muscles and fierce protectiveness. But when he’s all that stand between me and even bigger monsters…

Fierce

My mission is clear, find human survivors and bring them back to the Vagabond and my gladiator brothers. This lone female, her scent tells me she is all mine. I don’t want to share her.

When rescuing her ends with us both trapped in an underground cave system, I seize my opportunity to seduce her. Even if she can’t understand what I say, I make sure she knows just what I mean.

Down on the planet, I feel like she is all mine. But once we’re back on the ship… Am I going to be able to keep her?

When my brothers discover what I’m capable of.
What I did.

They’ll kick me off the ship. Ruin any chance I have at convincing my pretty Hina to stay at my side. I can’t let that happen, I’ll do anything to keep my mate.

Feral Tamed is a full-length standalone sci-fi romance featuring hot alien gladiators, a feral hero, a heroine with a heart of gold, and a guaranteed happily ever after.

Note: each book in the series can be read as a standalone, but for maximum enjoyment, it’s recommended that the series be read in order.

Snarl picked his own name. I’m crying, this is so cute.

***

While on a recovery mission, Fierce comes across the sole survivor of a shipwreck. His instincts tell him that he found his mate. Hina’s instincts on the other hand, tell her to run. So she does and promptly falls into a hole. The two will have to rely on each other to get out alive.

I had a lot of fun reading this. At the beginning of the book, the main characters are on an unknown-to-them planet and are separated from the group. Separating the leads from the group is something the author does in previous books too but I enjoyed it the most in this one because it’s a survival story and those are really fun (when you know they’ll have a happy ending of course).

Admittedly, the first half is better than the second half. The Naga were just too interesting to let go of that easily so I’m hoping we’ll come across them again in the future.

Fierce is my second favorite mmc in this whole series. He has such a gentle soul and I couldn’t help but swoon every time he was being an animal lover. Plus all the animals -including the new additions- were delightful to read about. Honestly, the easiest thing to make me like a book is to put a cute animal in it and this one has several !

***

Many thanks to Booksprout and the author for providing me with a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

Feral Tamed by Robin O’Connor
Gladiators of the Vagabond #4

What a splendid way to escape and spend the evening! This engaging alien world with hunky alien men finding their human mates has now added the potential for alien creatures, maybe, finding mates in the future too. What fun to have a gladiator pied piper rescuing creatures…and perhaps being rescued himself.

What I liked:
* Fierce Hunter: ex-gladiator, kidnapped when young, protector of the weak, freed slave, has unique abilities, good with animals, perfect for and with Hina
* Ichika Hina: human, slated for execution, survives crash in stasis pod, brave, botanist, writer, caring, kind, protective, perfect for and with Fierce
* Snarl: alien beast, mind-linked with Fierce, wise, deserves a mate – hope he gets one
* Fluffy: alien creature-Riho, pet, lethal, friendly to some, taken in by Fierce
* Alien animals: Fellow/new prey-animal saved by Fierce and Babbit-Riho saved by Fierce and others on their spaceship
* The setting – space, planets, spaceships
* The plot, pace, and writing
* The link between Fierce and Hina and their developing relationship – liked them together
* Getting to see the other characters in the book and find out how they are doing
* Knowing that there will be another book and that the next one will be about Luka, the doctor on board
* Hoping that there will be books for Jakar, Da’vi and Sunder
* That all the aliens are not alike but as close as brothers
* All of it really except…

What I didn’t like:
* Who and what I was meant not to like
* The Naga snake creatures – do wonder who the queenly one was and if there might be a story about her
* Having to say goodbye for now and wait for the next book in the series

Did I enjoy this book? Yes
Would I read more in this series? Definitely

Thank you to the author for the ARC – this is my honest review.

Fierce and Hina's Story . . .

Hina’s escape pod crashes on a dangerous alien planet. Fierce, a warrior from the Vagabond, is looking for surviving humans. She runs from him and they end up trapped in a cave together where they will need to partner to survive.

Both seem to be attracted to each other, and Fierce becomes aware that she is his mate. He cannot talk to her in a shared language, but he will make his feelings known. Will she accept him as her mate? Will the other crew members take exception to his taking the female from them before they even got to see her?

I really loved the fact that Fierce has an affinity for animals and they end up helping him as well. Hina is a good match for him because she seems to understand what he is all about. She not only sees him for who he is, but she accepts him fully without judgment, which is exactly what he needs. What is ahead for them? Will they find happiness together with their family of pets? Grab your copy and see what their future will bring them.

Hina (h) awakens in a crashed escape pod on a hostile alien planet and sets off to explore the new world. Fierce (H), an escaped gladiator and crew member on the Vagabond, comes down to the planet to see if there are any human survivors. He scents Hina and goes after her, but she's startled, and they end up in an underground cave system. The two will have to work together to escape, facing challenges and threats, as well as dealing with their attraction for one another. Fierce realizes early on that she's his mate but their communications issues makes it challenging for them to share their feelings with one another. Love all the pets that Fierce attracts and collects. Hina is no shrinking violet and brings her own strengths to the action, and it's great how well she understands Fierce, even when his friends don't. Hot and steamy action for Fierce and Hina. There's lots of action and adventure throughout. Given the recurring characters and overarching arc, the books in the series are best read in series order to fully understand the characters, relationships, and collective backgrounds. Fierce's story is my favorite one so far.

This book has a special place in my heart. The plot is well crafted and the characters are intriguing and engaging.
A newly freed gladiator that struggles to find his place in his crew meets a human girl who was destined to die and together they survive a hostile environment on an alien planet. The cute alien pets they gather along the way make the story even more interesting.
One of my personal favorites in the Vagabond series.
The only con I can think of is that is was not longer.

Hina, the female human xenobotanist lead, went to sleep expecting to be executed. Waking up at all was a surprise but to wake up crashed onto an unknown planet was a shock. Fierce, the male alien camouflage lead, and his crew mates are looking for some stolen human stasis pods, hoping to save humans from slavery. When he finds Hina, his instincts (and his bonded animal companion) tell him she’s his mate. Now he needs to convince her and keep her safe and save all the injured animals that keep coming their way…

This story is dual POV, well written, and discusses the feeling of being outcast, even in a group where you should feel welcome. Fierce, having spent most his life as a slave, doesn’t have a profession, like most of his gladiator friends, can’t read, and has different dietary needs, all of which he has kept a secret because he’s afraid of being rejected. Hina’s unwavering acceptance of him allows him to start to feel comfortable with the idea of sharing but he’s still tentative. I appreciated Hina’s scientific approach to so much and her willingness to accept things as they were whilst still asking questions to understand. I adored the animal companions and Fierce’s gentleness that meant they were comfortable with him and his apparent ongoing tendency to acquire more strays. I appreciated their relationship development under fire and the shifting position of initiator in the relationship development and intimacy.

I loved this book- I thought it was fantastic! I have read two other books in this series and loved them as well, but this one is definitely my favorite. Great world building and wonderful characters. Fierce absolutely won my heart and I fell in love with him very quickly. His personality to his circumstances; I just really connected with him. I really liked Hina. I thought she was very level-headed and made a great partner to Fierce even though she couldn't understand him (I always love the lack of communication aspect in some alien romances because then their actions have to express what words cannot). The alien animals/pets in this book also brought big smiles to my face. An excellent read! I can't wait until the next one! 5 stars.

I feel like I say this about every new Gladiators of the Vagabond book but this was my absolute favourite one of the series. I loved Hina and Fierce's relationship it was so romantic, wholesome and cute. Also, the added bonus of Snarl and Fluffy was amazing, and made me love the book even more. I loved how Hina brought Fierce out of his shell and just accepted him. Furthermore, I really liked being able to see the family of all the gladiators and ship mates. I also really liked the speed the book went nothing was rushed or drawn out, it was perfect and so was the length.
I could not recommend a book anymore than I recommend this book, I loved it and I can't wait to read it again and again.

Hina worked as a botanist. Now she was was slated for execution. But she woke up on a stasis pod that crashed on an unknown planet. The other pods didn’t make it. She was alone. She rounded up what was salvageable from the wreckage to help her. Then begin looking for shelter.
Fierce is a gladiator that escaped with his warriors brothers from their owner. Now they travel on a spaceship Vagabond. Several gladiators have found their human mate. Fierce felt like he was not as smart or useful as his brother gladiators. He had no skills that stood out to help the group on the spaceship. Fierce did have a soft heart for his creatures small or big.
The team was tasked to find any survivors of the crashed. Fierce and his pet Snarl found signs of a woman that had survived. He sent to others in the opposite direction. Snarl and Fierce find the survivor. But she tried to get away from them and fell down a hole. Fierce didn’t think about it but jumped after her. He saved her. They begin their adventures of surviving the dark tunnels and escaping. Fierce could understand Hina because of the human mates of his gladiator brothers. But Hina translator was not up to date on his language.
Their adventures begin to build trust and little understanding between them. Hina begin to see how Fierce responded and reacted to situations. She accepted his differences. She also begins to desire him. Fierce desires Hina for his mate.
Good story about how their relationship grows. The bond is strong with trust and understanding in spite of their language difficulties. Love how Hina really know Fierce more than his gladiator brothers. Love that Hina gave Fierce confidence through her nonjudgmental acceptance of him. Plus they have steamy chemistry. Has a HEA.

This was a wild reading ride full of action and danger...and cute snarling animals ;D Hina and Fierce have a bit of a rough start with her not realizing he's there to rescue her and ends up in more danger. He is a rather primal ex-gladiator but he knows she's his mate. These two find a bond that is so strong and chemistry that was smoking hot. Hina really was a kind and tolerant gal. Fierce was struggling to find his way with his new found freedom...and his secrets. I'm really enjoying how each book is about a new couple but we have the previous characters still in the story. I'd highly recommend reading this series in order :D

What a fantastic story! I am really loving this series. In this book, Fierce and his pets, Snarl and Pet Riho find Hina who has crashed landed on a planet that was taking her and two others in pods to some undefined location. Hina had been sentenced to execution for plagiarism on earth, but instead of dying, she learns that the government has made a deal with space pirates.

Fierce and Hina form a mating bond and have an exciting story ahead of them while they bond and finally make it to the ship where all the other gladiators are. They rescue animals and discover that Luka has been taken by someone. The gladiators are determined that they will find Luka and rescue him. Which leads to the next book in the series. There is a happily ever after for Fierce and Hina.

I enjoyed the book. Hina is a human scientist who is condemned to death and awakes as a sole survivor on a deserted planet. Her last memories are entering a gas chamber to die. She leaves the scene of the spaceship crash and the bodies of the those who died but then encounters a large purple skinned male alien and his oversized feline type companion. Startled by their sudden appearance she falls into a ravine and is more confused when the alien jumps into the ravine after her. Feral is apparently the alien’s name and he seems to think that Hina is his mate. He is determined to keep her safe as they try to make their way back to his shipmates.

I enjoyed the ride, so to speak. Hina can't understand Fierce, but he can understand her because he has a better translator implant. There is chemistry between the two of them that transcends the language barrier. They have quite the adventure finding their way through an underground system, facing dangers from alien predators and aliens trying to kill them. There was just the right balance of steamy scenes and challenges while making their way back to Fierce's team. Fierce worries that Hina won't want him when she learns more about him. I like the dynamic of the of the crew on the ship and how Fierce and Hina evolve in their relationship. I would definitely read more by this author.

Quick look: Sci-fi romance, gladiators, feral alpha alien that loves animals, fated mates, action/adventure, steamy scenes, pets, creepy cool villians, Tarzan + Jane vibes, no nonsense female lead, features a new couple & complete HEA.

Detailed look:
Fierce (a 7ft tall alien w/camo skin) was stolen from his primitive planet as a child and forced to fight in the gladiator pits his whole life. Meaning he never learned the things most people take for granted, like reading, writing or social skills- and def no technology. Add to that, the fact his species is uniquely made to eat bones and raw meat only. You can probably see why most people see him as an animal, he knows it too. But all he knows is fighting.

And though he recently teamed up with several other gladiators (and two human females) to overthrow their captors and steal the ship- he's nervous the crew might throw him off if they see the real him.

Fierce feels like a burden for not having any useful skills to contribute. He also done something he wasn't supposed to, lied about it and now has to keep the secret. AND he's hiding two vicious pets- which equals more mouths to feed & possibly scaring the human females on board. He can't imagine giving up his only friends though, so he keeps the pets hidden and dotes on them in private.

The animals keep him sane in return. He's having trouble adjusting to life as a free man. Always waiting on the worst to happen and unable to trust. Staying to himself and keeping secrets is the only thing that's kept him alive so far.

The entire crew goes on a mission to rescue some humans that crashed onto a nearby planet. Once there, they all split up to search for survivors.

Fierce finds his mate, they get stuck in a deep cave system and have to find their way back out. Fierce hopes to use this time with his mate to show her he can protect and care for her. Several obstacles give him a run for his money.

Soon he realizes that his own pets have snuck into his bag. Which means hiding them from his crew will be impossible once they show up. His little family must work together to survive until help arrives. His vicious pets make all the difference when several villains try to hunt them like prey. They end up going on a wild adventure and saving even more wild animals.

I really enjoyed this book. It was so much fun, and the pet companions were so cute! It's kinda like a Tarzan and Jane vibe + aliens lol. A gruff alien who melts for animals and his mate but acts tough to everyone else. I loved the female lead too, she was the go-getter type that didn't complain and really tried to pull her own weight. She had been sentenced for a crime she didn't commit and kept rolling with the punches as they came. The villains were fleshed out and super creepy/cool. Some steamy, primal mating scenes in the overall romance that I enjoyed as well. This book stands alone with a complete HEA for the couple, & it's my fav of the series so far. I Recommend for sci-fi romance & monster romance fans.

I'd like for you to know that I recieved a free copy of this book and volunteered to review it with my honest opinion.

This sci-fi romance was a ton of space opera fun, with gladiator hijinks, action, danger, and plenty of steam to keep things interesting and the pacing moving along at a good clip. The development of the romantic relationship was natural and organic, and was well balanced against an exciting plot and deft world building. I recommend this novel, and really the whole series so far.

Gleeful Goblin Review: I'm always a sucker for an animal companion and this story stole my heart with Snarl like woah: “You are meeting Fierce Female alone?” Snarl asked me as we easily slipped through the dense shrubbery. My skin automatically started shifting its tone, blending in with the pink and purple plant life surrounding me. My feet found the quietest spots to walk on as we closed in on our prey. I didn’t know why Snarl was calling this human woman we were hunting, Fierce Female. He tended to add a descriptor to the names of the people he knew, but why he’d picked Fierce of all things to describe her? Ziame, our captain and a great big scaly creature as unique to this quadrant as I was, he liked to call Warrior Ziame. While Sunder was Wise and Thorin Angry. Recently that one had changed to Grumpy, a step up from angry, since Thorin had mated with Camila. I understood those, they made sense. This didn’t. I spotted her right as Snarl did, and we both froze, taking a quick moment to observe her. She was small, with pale skin and slender shoulders. Her hair was black as night, like Camila’s, but it was not long and curly. No, it was cut in a sharp line at the bottom of her small, dainty chin, and as straight as an arrow. She didn’t look injured, she looked determined and strong, but small and fragile too, a contradiction. Her shoulders suddenly stiffened, she turned around, and I finally got a full look at her face. Fine boned, her eyes slanted exotically. Very different from the other humans I’d seen. Pretty, more like the sharp, piercing gazes of the females I vaguely remembered from the Mother planet. The sight of her took my breath away." AND THEN WE THROW IN PET AND I WAS A GONER: "Yup, there was Pet. Sneaky thing that she was. The small juvenile Riho female lay curled on top of the few things I’d thought to bring, rations, rope, and a blanket. Her thick, multicolored pelt was a little ruffled, and her small snout was drawn into a disgruntled look but she appeared completely unharmed, scampering out of the bag and into my arms. It didn’t take more than a few pets before she was loudly purring and headbutting me beneath my chin. I chuckled at her antics, “Silly Pet, why did you sneak into my bag? Don’t you know this planet is dangerous?” I lifted my eyes from the purring Riho in my arms to look at the small human female I’d just rescued. Somewhat at least, because we were definitely still in trouble down here. She looked at me with huge dark eyes, then looked at the purring Riho, then back at my face. I don’t know what was going through her head, but I figured I’d let her have a look. Petting the wiggling creature in my arms, I centered myself on my other senses, my sharp hearing in particular. Just making sure we were alone in this place right now. That we were safe." This interaction scene sets the tone for the entire book of growly protection and adorable animal buddies. I couldn't be happier with this story if I tried. 5/5 Stars

Thi was a really great book and the storyline had it all action, suspense, drama, adventure, humor, wild pets, steamy chemistry and in the end Love. Hina is a human and a botanist and now she is destined to be executed and now wakes up in a stasis pod that’s crashed landed on a strange planet. Gathering up everything that she may need from the pod and heads out to explore when a strange alien man coming toward her so she panics and runs and he chase’s after her and as it turns out he saves her life after she falls into a cave system. Fierce is a gladiator that was stolen as a child and who has grown up fighting in the pits until he and his gladiator brothers escape in a spaceship the Vagabond with two humans females and now they are on the planet looking for the humans that crash landed on the surface and straight away he and his pet Snarl both scent a female and he sends the others in different directions because he knows she is his mate. Now following after her she runs off and falls into a hole in the ground and he jumps straight in behind her to keep her safe now he’s try’s to talk to her but she doesn’t understand him but he can understand her and it will take working together through the tunnels to find there way out but Fierce wants to get to know his mate better and share there mate bond and there chemistry is off the charts and it isn’t long before they are steamy up the tunnels. How will it all turn out and can they have a future together or not.

I am loving this series by Robin O’Connor and this book is a brilliant addition. The characters are absolutely amazing, Fierce is protective, possessive and once he finds Hina he knows she is his mate and he will do anything to keep her. Hina is strong, feisty and when she finds herself on an alien planet she is determined to survive. There’s passion, desire, fated mates, a crashed ship, steamy scenes and more in this story with a happily ever after ending. This is a must read book that will have you hooked from the start as I was, don’t wait go buy it now.

Feral Tamed

Fierce is part of a crew of various different species that were enslaved and now considered themselves brothers. Some have been lucky or fated to find their mates in humans who had their own stories of bravery and betrayal. Hina has been sentenced to execution on a trumped up charge. After falling unconscious she finds herself on a planet where she surmises the spacecraft carrying her and others has crashed. Fierce and some of his brothers have landed on said planet to do a bit of research. This story is so full of examples of deeply felt emotions and feelings that you are unable to stop yourself from becoming immersed. Exciting and moving.

I hate that in all the books of this genre, the human female had a really crappy life on Earth. I understand that it’s designed to make the reader want the human to stay with her alien, but it gets really old. There wasn’t actually anything unique about this story. Girl has crappy life on earth, girl gets kidnapped by aliens, girl gets rescued by gladiator alien with perfect body full of ripped muscles and kind and gentle personality, girl gets an implant do she can understand him, girl gets really cute alien pet, girl lives happily ever after.

Mehhh

I just couldn't really engage with this story, felt like because of the other characters stories this one was deemed superficial. Would have thought seeing as Fierce was held captive longer than the other gladiators he would have got more attention. Fierce calls her his mate but she's just in it for convenience, not having anywhere else to go. I didn't really see the chemistry from the heroines end.

What a great story! I loved it all from beginning to end. The storyline and characters development was natural and flowed so well, it was beautifully written. It follows the story of a human woman who wakes up on a strange planet, tracked by a "feral" alien there to save her. Full of adventure as they're chased by the unwelcoming locals, with a little love & romance in there to spice things up ;) I definitely recommend this story to any PNR fan.

Fierce was actually one of my favorite characters. He is quiet and misunderstood as he thinks he offers nothing to his band of brothers. Going on a hunting mission for the lost stasis pods he make a decision that will change everything for him. Hina is a woman who will do what it takes to survive. She has compassion and shows understanding, but will protect those she hold dear. These two have their own injustices but working together may be able to help heal old wounds.

Never let a little thing like a language barrier stop true love!

I really wanted to read this after the snippet we saw of Fierce in the last book. I wasn't disappointed. He's sweet and.. well, Fierce. I loved Snarl, and Pet/Fluffy, and of course, enjoyed the romance. I never quite figured out where he fit in at the end of the story, but I didn't read it for his place on the Vagabond. I was happy to see this had better editing than the last book so I wasn't annoyed half the time.

I really love Fierce as a character, and Hina is so good for him. Robin O'Connor is great at writing character backstories and descriptions. I enjoy how all the books in this series include the gladiators and the human women I've liked from previous stories. Feral Tamed is an exciting adventure, full of action, romance, steam and humour.  Fierce's pets really add to the story, they're so cute and funny!

Such a good read

I loved this story. Fierce is so awesome and his love of animals is heart touching. Him and Hina are a perfect fit! Their story could not have been written any better. I can't wait to see what happens to Luka and who his mate it. Thank you Robin for writing their stories! Great series. All of the books so far have been captivating and the gladiators each are so different!
