Brook Masters has always known what she wanted. To follow in her father's footsteps and be in the coastguard. But being daddy's little girl has a few drawbacks. Especially when you live in a small town where everyone knows you.
James Ryder is a wanderer. A beach bum. A man with only a dog and an old travel van to his name. He likes it like that. Until fate would have him quite literally falling at the feet of the most beautiful soul he'd ever met.

Jill comes from a large family with six siblings, including an identical twin. She was raised in the Pacific Northwest and later relocated to Colorado for college and a successful IT career before discovering her talent for writing sweet and sexy page-turners. After Colorado, she decided to move south, living in Texas and now making her home along the Emerald Coast of Florida. You will find that the settings of several of her series are inspired by her time spent living in these areas. She has two sons and off-set the testosterone in her house by adopting three furry little ladies that provide her company while she’s locked in her writing cave. She enjoys heading to the beach, hiking, swimming, wine-tasting, and pickleball with her husband, and of course writing. If you have read any of her books, you may also notice that there is a love of food, especially sweets! She has been blamed for a few added pounds by her assistant, editor, and fans… donuts or pie anyone?
Ryder has been running away from his life for the past year. Living out of a campervan with his rescue dog Willy, Ryder decided that it was time to face reality and go home. On his last day of the quaint town of Pride he and Willy go for their last surf. A storm is brewing and he is sure he can read the signs when it hits sooner than expected. They are both thrown from the board and towards the shore.
This is the point when a local, Brooke, who lives right on the beach spots them and goes out to help. She manages to get them back to her porch before the storm hits fully. They spend some time chatting until they all fall asleep.
The next day Ryder is on his way out of town when he comes across Brooke again in the bakery. There's a definite spark between the two but Brooke senses Ryder is hiding his true self. What has he been running from? A familiar face scares Ryder into thinking his cover is blown.
The past and future collide in this whirlwind romance but can they have a happy ending?
Loved this story and love the town of Pride. Ryder is a lone and lost soul on the road longing for the one thing his money can't buy.....unconditional love and affection. His brief stop in Pride for one last surf before returning home gave him much more than he could ever have hoped for. Brooke and the town of Pride show Ryder a side of life he hasn't had before. Before a new future can start Ryder needs to battle some past demons where he finds some deceit and a also a surprise awaiting him. Brooke will also learn that dreams can change.
I absolutely love getting to visit the town of Pride in this series. I love the characters and how everyone in town intersects in some way or another with various main characters. This book brings Brooke and Ryder's story to the forefront. While it is obviously a romance, it is really so much more. It is a story of adjusting your path to fit your life better and still be successful. The characters of Pride are not only fun, sexy and entertaining, but also inspirational! I can't wait for more books in this series to come out! While you don't need to read the previous books in the series in order to enjoy this one, you will be denying yourself tons of enjoyment if you don't read the entire series and why would you want to do that!?!
Finding love when you least expect it or not knowing what it is but knowing you want her more than anything has Ryder stopping on the last leg of his nomadic journey…for beautiful Brook. What happens when they decide to finish that last leg of his journey together to see where things will go? Grab this steamy, yet sweet, romance filled with all of the feels and some surprise twists and turns along the way. Loved it!!!
Another great story in the series! Keeps you on the edge of your seat, wanting to know what happens next. It's an engaging, moving & sexy romance suspense. I loved Brook & Ryder's chemistry. Wonderful characters. Willy, too. I truly enjoyed reading it! RECOMMEND!!
Welcome back to Pride, Oregon! I was so excited to read Brook and Ryder's story! Ryder meets Brook on what was supposed to be his last night of his walkabout...a break from the life in Seattle that was thrust upon him when his father died. Spending the last year driving up and down the coast surfing, camping in his van and just bumming around with his little dog Willie, a dog he rescued. On his last night before heading back to face the board and drama at the business, he went surfing at the beach off of Brook's back deck. Not paying attention to the weather Ryder almost doesn't make it with Willie to the beach. When he does he looks up to find "mermaid" Brook standing over him and lecturing him about nearly getting him and his puppy pal killed. Intrigued by her Ryder decides to stay in Pride for a little while.
Now not being one to give spoilers in my reviews, I'll just say that Jill Sanders did not disappoint in any way! The story has love, romance, mystery, intrigue, humor, and an adorable little dog...what more could we ask for? This is the perfect addition to the Pride series, and to Jill's amazing catalog of stories! Don't miss out on this wonderful story. You'll fall in love, just like I did, with Ryder, Brook and especially Willie!
Another amazing read from Jill. Brook and Ryder's story It’s beautiful when she finds a beautiful man and a gorgeous dog washed up on the beach after surfing when a storm is about to hit Pride she wonders what is that crazy man doing. Half an hour later opened his eyes. After being washed up. He thinks he sees a mermaid, of course it’s Brook with hands on her hips chastising him that he could’ve killed the dog LOL, the chemistry between the both it’s wonderful Of course there Has to be a bit of drama and Jill’s book and this one doesn’t disappoint. You’ll have to read it to find out what the drama is Can’t wait to read next in the series
A sabbatical ends and a new love begins – sometimes you don’t know what you are looking for until you find it. James is escaping another life and finds Brook in a small little town. James believes the town too good to be true, until he realizes that his whole life has been spent with the wrong people. I enjoyed how the lives of Brook and James become intertwined in this story. I highly recommend this book, and enjoyed every page!
This book was yet another masterpiece written by Jill Sanders. The way she pulls you into the story, I feel like I am a part of the characters lives. The love between not just the Brook and Ryder, but the love that the family and friends have for each other makes this so much more amazing and heartfelt! I recommend everyone read this if you have the chance.
Loved returning to the town of Pride and its wonderful citizens. Loved Brook and Ryder together from the time they met to the time they got their HEA. Romance, steam, mystery, secrets, lies, and some danger make a great story. And you have to love a guy who rescues a puppy and gives him a wonderful life.
I really liked Ryder. He has really never known love and when he finds Pride, he finds a home and love. He not only fell in love with the town, but he also fell in love with Brook. When Brook found a man and a dog washed up on her beach, she didn't know what to think. When she got to know Ryder a bit better, she realized that he was hiding a part of himself. She was sure Ryder would tell her when he was ready. Ryder spent a year just traveling around in an old van with his dog, Willy. He had enough of everyone manipulating his life and just went on a walkabout. He was on his way back to his old life when he met Brook. Meeting her changed his life. Can they find a way to be together?
Ryder had enough of his life and just left, left everything. He spend last year doing odd jobs living in his van with the dog he found and adopted. Now is finally time to go back to real life, but before he does this he meets Brook, and even more changes for him. Lovely storyline. Loved it
Loved this new book of Jill Sanders. The words just flowed and had me reading every chance I got until I couldn’t put the book down until I finished. Can’t wait until the next book in the Pride series.
Highly entertaining, fun filled, emotional journey filled with witty banter, heart racing twists and so many fun and intriguing charters. Really enjoyed this exciting and engaging romantic adventure.
I have read most of Jill’s books and this one is definitely my very favorite! It hit all of my reading likes: romance, family, friendship and a little who done it! A fabulous read!
This starts out with more romance as Brook and Ryder get to know each other. It is a perfect setup for when things take a quick turn into mystery and suspense. So much I didn't see coming. It has a happy ending with a great setup for more stories in the wonderful small town of Pride.
