feel like for this review I should just put lots of heart and crying emojis.

This is by far, in my opinion, the most emotionally jarring and raw book that Michael has written, and it kind of hit me out of nowhere. I just wasn’t expecting this depth emotion for Landon’s story.

I teared up and blubbered at several points in this book. Landon, my goodness that man’s vulnerability in this was heartbreaking, nothing like his ego personality in The Crow Flies Free.

But as a double whammy, you had the broken hearted soul of Owen who really did tug at my heart. He was such a beautiful character and I really connected with him.

Michael’s writing in this really appeals to your heart and dealing with loss and dealing with vulnerabilities, it really affected me as it was just so honest in how it was told. I enjoyed how a lot of detail was given to their internal thoughts and battles so you got to know them so well from quite early on.

This is such a wonderful story, two vulnerable souls brought together to create the most beautiful love. I loved it so much. Landon and Owen are so special, they are perfect.

LOVED IT💜💜💜

Just when you naively think, you have a rough idea what to expect from a Michael Robert novel, he throws you a curve ball and you end up falling in love with his fantastic imagination all over again.🖤

This book is amazing - if you are looking for romance, you need some spicy drama, crazy redemption story, amazing friends, and a trailblazing cast of memorable charismatic characters  - LANDON ALEXANDER is your one stop read.🖤

Landon is utterly lost, edging a early mid-life crises, possibly financial ruin and overall questioning his identity and reckless lifestyle. His friendship with Veronica seems to be the only thing that keeps him anchored to some semblance of normality, but let's face it, those two are both so loose, it's a minor miracle that their crazy sexual appetites sort of cancel each other and push them into a protective mode for one another. 🖤

Owen Reed🤤 Oh my god. This man, this GOD. I freaking adore him. He was absolutely amazing from the moment he entered Landon’s life - solid, supportive,  sexy, seductive...oh so dreamy. And that word, "Please." I'd never been more freaking turned on in my life and I am afraid Michael Robert has forever changed the charge this word will carry for me.🤤

Owen and Landon are meant to be, no doubt about that, but rest assured Michael Robert gives you a nice big serve of his signature steam, and oh boy does he make it worth your while 💜🍆😈 For how romantic this story is, Owen and Landon are incredibly hot together,  their passionate encounters were absolutely unforgettable. 💜
Do yourself a favour and grab a copy, this scorching hot romance💜

What a powerful love story full of pain, healing, passion, and hard-won trust. The book opens with a scene in which Landon Alexander's life briefly intersects again with Joey and Caleb from The Crow Flies Free. Landon gets a message that helps him to understand that his father's actions as a murderer should not determine the trajectory of his own life. He begins to question the emptiness of his life as a successful businessman and also a playboy with many one-night stands, but no meaningful relationships beyond his friendship with his best friend.

Owen is a man looking to start over. His marriage ended in a tragic death a year and a half before. Now, his parents have given over their huge construction business to their drug-addicted son by blood rather than Owen, the adopted son who is the far better choice. Owen interviews for a supervisory construction position in Portland, OR. Prior to the interview, he has a rare and unforgettable one-night stand with a Landon, without exchanging names. The next day, they are both surprised to learn that Owen's interview is with Landon. Can these two have a future when Owen is still grieving his loss and Landon is still trying to figure out a better life than being the unloved son of a murderer?

This book is rich on locale details, a knowledge that money doesn't solve all of life's ills, and that everyone can heal and improve with effort. It has some very passionate love scenes, a special camaraderie between the men and their friends and family, and a very satisfying conclusion that has a lot of hope for their future and their lifetime of love.

Sexy, powerful, emotional. Three of the best words to describe this amazing book. Author Michael Robert has taken our favorite sexy bad boy and given the man a heart. The Tinman would be proud.

Readers were first introduced to Landon in The Crow Flies Free, during which Landon was portrayed as a rich and powerful playboy, who enjoyed cocktails, late nights, and the company of straight-ish men. In Landon Alexander: A Novel, the author begins to peel away the layers that make up Landon, and the reader begins to see the painful and traumatic past that has shaped the shell of a man we see today. The reader is taken on an emotional journey as Landon tries to move on from the sins of his father and fight against his own internal demons, trying to make positive changes in his life.

Then enters, Owen! The sexy, burly construction manager who puts Landon to the ultimate test. Can he open his heart to love?

Honestly, I loved both of these characters. Owen with his confident, kind and challenging nature; Landon with his vulnerable, generous, and sweet side. In addition to these two, there is a cast of lovable side characters including Landon’s surprisingly strong mother. The true sign of a good book is when the author makes the reader fall in love with their characters – and Michael Robert has done just that.

Oh yeah, in true Robert fashion, this book also contains lots of steam, heart, and of course a riveting story! Highly recommend this book to everyone. I would suggest reading The Crow Flies Free first, just so that you get the full experience of Landon Alexander!

Heartwarming

I love a book filled with good people. Sure, one or two made a bad decision… and ok fine. I’m not talking about his dad. Good grief.

Such a terrific read with a wonderful happy ending!

P.S. - I’d love to see more of Tinky. What a fun character!

Romance at its best! The story starts with a brief appearance of Caleb and Joey from The Crow Flies Free, 8 years later. Although this book is a standalone, I highly recommend reading that book first for a better experience, and you will fall in love with Caleb and Joey, but also have a glimpse of Landon throughout the story.

Joey’s grandpa is a wise man and gives Landon advice, which makes him question his way of life. To the world, he is a cocky, successful businessman, but he doesn’t do relationships. He doesn’t want to grow attached to anyone, and his love life is reduced to gazillions of meaningless one-night-stands. Landon grew up with a heartless, crude father who focused on building an empire no matter what and had a devastating effect on Landon’s personality. The real Landon nurtures a scared, vulnerable child inside, but also sweet, generous, and fun to be with. And this side of him comes out when he meets Owen in one of his one-night-stands.

Owen is this tall, muscled, stunning construction manager with a lovable personality, but also with his share of suffering. He’s grieving for losing his husband, his first and only love, but he sees in Landon the qualities that he once fell for in Hunter. He’s a very polite, confident man and also a delicious dominant in bed, which brings comfort to Landon. For the first time, someone takes care of him.

Beautiful settings plus strong secondary characters gives depth to the story. It shines a light on friendship, family relationships, and even gives a second chance to a prick, making it a great read. A lot happens between them. A malicious opponent, misunderstandings, their own baggage gets in the way, but their chemistry is raw and addictive. When they are together, they can melt anything within a hundred-mile radius, but they are also romantic to the core. They heal in each other’s arms. Owen drags Landon out of his shallow life. And Landon takes Owen out of his grieving.

It’s a story about two lost souls finding each other in the midst of anger, angst, grief, but with love for one another, they also found healing, hope, redemption and their happily ever after. I LOVED IT!

This is Michael Robert at his best, gritty raw and edgy, telling it like it is and with the ability to twist the knife in your heart and make you want to hug these characters as they are laying their souls bare.

We met Landon in the author’s first book The Crow Flies Free. His bullying father was imprisoned for arranging the murders of Joey Crow’s parents and this book picks up Landon’s story 8 years on and tells us how he and his mother, a former socialite, now ostracised, are coping with the fall out of his father’s heinous crime.

I did not particularly take to Landon in the first book. He was a privileged spoilt rich playboy with a questionable taste in young men and a love for fast flashy German cars. He seemed shallow, lacking any warmth. My opinion didn’t change much at the start of this book, Landon with his feisty best friend and VP of Alexander Construction, Veronica or Ronnie as he called her, seemed to still be living the high life although Ronnie was encouraging him off the young men.

Then we meet Owen, a big beautiful polite guy wearing a cowboy hat who happens to be in Portland on business and sees Landon across a bar and has to have him. Owen is the exact opposite of Landon’s hookups but he is drawn to Owen.

Owen is starting to emerge from the pain and grief of unexpectedly losing his husband. He is convinced that he has had the love of his life and he will never find another to compare and to add to his pain his adoptive parents choose blood over skill and hand the family business to his drug addicted brother and so Owen leaves Montana for Portland in search of a construction manager’s job.

The author seems to be at his best when writing about loss and vulnerability. He wrings every emotion from you as you read the internal struggles of Landon and Owen. Who knew that all Landon needed was to meet the right man, someone to get under his defences, brush away his ego and expose a beautiful vulnerable man, who knew that he needed a man to take control.

Love this couple and their story!!

Landon Alexander, A Novel
By Michael Robert
5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐'s

Did anyone else love Landon (or at least was intrigued by him) in The Crow Flies Free by Michael Robert?

I thought he was a great secondary character and by the end of TCFF I felt a little sad for him. I mean his Dad, whom never showed him any affection, had just gone to prison ... and his Mom didn't seem to have much to offer Landon either.

Well in this book Landon’s Mom does a complete 180 (is that the right term?). She completely steps up to the plate and becomes exactly the Mom Landon needs! Actually they both step up and help push each other in the right direction to move their lives forward after the catastrophe that is Landon’s dad.

Both mc's, Landon and Owen, are so vulnerable throughout this book that your heart breaks a little for them. Owen who's dealing with grief from losing his husband is having a hard time letting go and moving forward..until meeting Landon that is! "My heart sent a clear message to my brain. This is the man for you, Owen." Landon is trying to get his act together and straighten his life out all the while falling in love for the first time. "...for the very first time in my life, I wanted to risk my heart even if it meant failing."

Their chemistry was off the charts and I swooned over how patient Owen was with Landon even when taking charge.🥵🔥 They definitely had a bumpy road to get over but I loved how their hea turned out even though the ending was a complete surprise for me. I just didn't see it evolving the way it did with Landon’s mom or his bestie Veronica aka Ronnie.

Also Michael took us to some beautiful  places all around the Portland area. I tried to capture some of the gorgeousness in my edit. I'm totally itching to go there now what a beautiful place!

I highly recommend this book and all of Michael Robert's books...he always seems to surprise me.

Lost for Words ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️

Landon Alexander first featured in Michael Robert’s book ‘ The Crow Flies Free’. I’m so glad I read it first because I got to see Landon as he was before his family’s fall from grace. If you are reading this review, please go find a copy and read ‘The Crow Flies Free’ first. I believe that one was Michael Robert’s debut, unbelievable as you may find that when you read it.

Here in Landon own story, we see him trying to get himself out of the mess he made of his own life, with the way he sought love and affection that he never got from his parents, through their neglect, his insecurities, as a result of growing up without that love from his own parents.

He is now successfully restoring the Alexander company’s reputation with the help and support of two employees and his mother.

Now he is looking for something for himself, if only he can lower the barricades around his heart. Inadvertently it is one of those staff members who open the door to something that Landon never allowed himself to expect.

Nevertheless he is now on a journey, the path may be long, but if he allows someone to take that path with him, who knows where it might take him.

I could get carried away on the feelings I had reading and enjoying this book and the whole storyline. Suffice to say, I loved every sentence, period and comma and recommend you treat yourself to both of these books and read them in order.

The story is about the relationship between grown men, in their mid twenties/thirties. It’s not like the usual MM books, it is so much more.

Amazing!!! Everything I needed!!!

I was dying for this book the minute I finished Crow Flies Free. Landon was a complicated but incredible character. I loved him, and in this book my love for him exploded. His vulnerability was absolutely beautiful, real and raw. He grew so much in this book, I really couldn’t have asked for more from Landon (or Michael who wrote him)! He was everything and so much more that I wanted and needed!!!

Owen I loved. He challenged Landon in a way I loved. I swear I read this so fast because I needed to find out what was going to happen between Landon and Owen. I loved it. Owen was exactly what Landon needed. I plan to go back and read it slower, as this will be a re-read over and over for me!

Absolutely incredible! The push and pull from these characters was everything to me. I was on the edge of my seat, I wasn’t sure if they were going to get together or not. A lot of heartache and emotions came out of this book. But is grabbed my attention from the first page. I couldn’t put it down.

Michael’s writing blows me away every book. His attention to details is my favorite thing about his writing. I literally feel like I’m in his stories when I’m reading. I loved this book soooo much. An absolute must read!!

Hope and love

I love Michael Robert’s books but I have to be mentally prepared for his books cause I know I’m going to be taken on a rollercoaster of emotions and this one was no different.

Landon’s unique sense of humor had me chuckling many times. The descriptions and illustrative details about everything has your mind escaping to the beauty that is Oregon.

The actual feelings of wanting the best for Landon and Owen and the feelings I have for the irksome Drew were all too real as well. The feelings of loss and moving on hit me hard. I’m glad we end with a HEA. The epilogue wraps up everything nicely with all involved.

Awww, Michael did it again with this beautiful story. I absolutely loved Landon and Owen’s story and their way to HEA.
Landon was always a player with no real commitment when it came to relationship. And Owen’s past that broke him with the loss of his husband, he didn’t think he will ever be able to love again. But these two find their way together. Trust is a big factor in this story and these two make that happen.
This story is filled with passion and emotional sadness and I’m so glad I got to read another one of Michael’s stories and can’t wait for more.
Definitely highly recommended!

outstanding, Mr. Robert!

From a former English professor you can bet your sweet ass that Mr. Robert earned one of my extraordinarily-rare five-star ratings! The story is exquisite and the character development fully articulated. I promise you will struggle to put the book down… I finished the marvelous work in one setting. What a great addition to The Crow Flies Free universe. I've been rooting for Landon from the moment I read about him last year. He was misunderstood and I love that we get to see a different side of him her. This book has it all. Emotion, Steam and a very satisfying HEA.

That was such a raw and emotional story.

Was I surprised? Yes and no. Yes because I know that this author writes these heavy and packed with feelings books. Maybe he finds comfort in them. I respect that.
No because I had no idea that Landon had this side.

This book tells the story of Landon and Owen. These two had an one night stand but decided to leave it behind and go on with their lives. Well imagine Landon's surprise when he realises that his supposedly "new construction manager" was the man he slept with last night. Well.. Owen wasn't any less surprised than him. He couldn't believe that the man he fucked was going to be his new boss. If you worry how that went, well..don't worry friends. It went like hell. Owen denied to work for him and left. If you want to see what happened then.. you need to read the book to find out.

Okay. Landon as a character baffled me a lot. I thought that he was this sassy and charming man that wanted to fuck everything that had two legs and a cock between them. Yes he was this spoilt brat that talked shit but this is what I loved about him. In this book though he was a completely different man.

Was it the emotional baggage? Did he just mature? Was it that he fell in love? Man I don't know. But he felt so different 😩
Add to that the fact that Owen came with his own heartache.. and well. Good luck. I've read these two cry half of the book. 😭

I will say that the parts I liked within this book were:

- I definitely liked Landon as a MC even if I was confused with his soft side 🙈

- I also liked Owen. Yes he was healing from his loss and was closed off but his no-nonsense attitude was amazing.

Also the fact that Landon was like ten years older than him.. had me thinking.. DADDY STATUS 😈 No matter how hard Owen tried to convince me that he was the "dominant" one.

- I appreciated the hot sex scene towards the end! Like thank fuck after all this heartache! 😩❤️

Overall?

If you like your books tender, sweet and extra emotional then RUN and get this. ❤️

P.s: Owen eating ass? I died 💦

I liked the effort that went into describing locations and job descriptions. There were many non-fiction influences on this book that were cool to see.

There's nothing wrong with age-gap relationships, but Landon's views on engaging sexually with, as he described it, "barely 18 year olds" made me a bit uncomfortable. Paired with Owen's character, who was in love with a much older man before he was 18, raised a bit of a red flag. This theme wasn't promoted as problematic in the book.

The characters were often described as "masculine" and "manly" which seemed to promote a very strict and societal view on masculinity.

Though there were some other aspects that bugged me, the pacing was fast and made this a quick and easy read. And I appreciate the time and effort it takes to write a book, even if it's not for me.

💕 Landon was a bit of an odd duck when we first meet him in The Crow Flies Free. But as we learn more about him in this book, we begin to understand how it is that he grew into the man that he is. Never truly knowing love, never feeling valued. These things shaped and molded him into the charismatic, confident man on the outside, but the lost and vulnerable little boy on the inside.

Owen, on the other hand, may be young but he has an old soul. He’s a good man, through and through, but isn’t without his own pain.

Their first meeting is magnetic and leaves both of them trying to understand what just happened. Sometimes in life, a chance encounter results in an instant connection on an almost spiritual level. Causing you to become someone you didn’t even know existed.

Veronica is fabulous as always. A true queen - strong, confident, sexy and smart. She is a force to be reckoned with. And then we get to meet Tinaka aka Tinky in this book, who I absolutely adore in every way. A flaming queen in his own right, he is the spotlight in every scene that he’s in. The relationship between Landon and his mother is beautiful - because it was never a perfect one. I love how she gets her own character arc in this book. Both as an individual and as the mother-son duo. Loved it all.
