Eiichiro Oda (尾田栄一郎, Oda Eiichirō) is a Japanese manga artist, best known as the creator of the manga and anime One Piece.

As a child, Oda was inspired by Akira Toriyama's works and aspired to become a manga artist. He recalls that his interest in pirates was probably sparked by the popular TV animation series titled Vicky the Viking. He submitted a character named Pandaman for Yudetamago's classic wrestling manga Kinnikuman. Pandaman was not only used in a chapter of the manga but would later return as a recurring cameo character in Oda's own works.

The battle between Franky and Nero is one of the highlights of this entire story, for me, perhaps shonen genre in general.

For all the powers and spectacle, all the high stakes and tension, from an emotional standpoint shonen fights tend to be pretty dull affairs. You've got your righteous anger at the hero's side, smug self-assurance at the villain's, and whoever is first surprised - caught off-guard by a new special power the enemy pulls out - is the loser. It's rare for either side to truly lose their cool until the very end. And when the end comes, either the victor was clear from the start, or it was achieved by the hero revealing a new power out of their arse, flat-out refusing to stay down, or both.

What we have here is one rare exception - two absolute idiots each revealing a constant stream of new baffling powers for a temporary advantage, each being equally surprised over and over again, each of them actually visibly struggling to gain victory by means other than more and more raw strength. They're pretty equal in physical and mental sense alike. And perhaps most importantly, they're both legitimately hilarious and have a great chemistry together.

Such fights are all too rare, all across the board. Could use more of them.

The rescue mission continues and mangaka Eiichiro Oda really nails it with all the quirky and zany stuff, especially some of the battles on the sea train. You really need one of those crazy imaginative brains to come up with this stuff.

One Piece, Vol. 39 continues where the previous tankōbon left off and contains the next ten chapters (368–377) of the on-going manga series.

This tankōbon concludes the Water Seven Arc and begins the next one. As Sanji and the now freed Usopp and Cutty "Franky" Flam, move through the train looking for Nico Robin, they had to deal with the lesser members of Cipher Pol 9 (CP9). Although they find her, Robin does not allow herself to be saved. Instead, CP9 captures recaptures Franky and kicks Sanji and Usopp from the train, and continues on to Enies Lobby.

Sanji and Usopp wait along the tracks, and reunite with Monkey D. Luffy and the others when they go by. They arrive at the judiciary island soon after CP9 does and engage the forces of the world government in order to get Robin back.

This tankōbon is written and illustrated by Eiichirō Oda. For the most part, it is written and illustrated rather well. It concludes the Water Seven Arc, which brought up some surprising narrative choices as Nico Robin and Usopp leaves the Straw Hat Pirates. Furthermore, the deadly Cipher Pol 9 is introduced as the spy and assassination arm of the World Government.

All in all, One Piece, Vol. 39 is a wonderful continuation to a series that seems really intriguing and I can't wait to read more.

Girl I don’t care about these lame ass fights! Sanji vs cookman and Franky vs Nero? Absolutely skimmed. Usopp in that little mask? Who cares! Thank goodness for Luffy, his brawler moment at the end single-handedly revived this volume for me. Water Seven, I’m going to need you to PICK. UP.

I know Oda loves the long game but I’m just about tearing my hair out in the time it takes for us to get to more interesting moments. I’m bored bored bored and then we get a little moment with Robin, I’m bored bored bored and then we finally get a fun fight with Luffy…please…………..

The strawhats continue to rescue robin, while Sanji is alone on the train and like 5 parts of the train are there and each guarded by someone, he is able to battle some and defeat easily and dislodges the 5th one, and battles Wanze meanwhile Franky is battling Nero. The fight is challenging for sure but its so good, Sanji gets amazing moments as a cook and just shows his awesomeness! Zoro and co are on the train when he has to fight shipwrecking T-BONE A CP official and that fight is just woah. Its a great battle and then when they do rescue robin they are beseeched by the CP9 members and they enter Enies Lobby aka Justice Island. But the Straw hats come to but Luffy enters without a proper plan and like the way he jumps through those gates is so funny lol and then him as he enter the main gate he is surrounded by 1000s of men while he is alone! This was a great volume full of action sequences and keeps you engaged throughout and is just an epic read! Oda is on fire here!!

I was really disappointed all through this volume! A whole seven chapters were wasted to show some stupid matches not including even one impotant villain of the CP9! I liked Robin even more in this volume, though. For her persistence on not letting her friends be involved in this matter, and the time when Zoro cut a ship into two pairs.

What an end to the Water 7 Arc and the start of Enies lobby Arc!!

🚨 Spoilers Ahead 🚨

Sanji, Franky and usopp as Sniper King deceive the Navy and 2 cars were cut which included the one with Captain T bone. So now sanji fights wanze who is in car 4, Franky fights nero in car 3 and usopp goes to car 1 which has robin. Lucci, kaku, blueno, kalifa and Corgy are in car 2.

Luffy and the others come across the remaining 2 cars and Luffy asks Zoro to cut it as it's in the way🤣🤣. Both sanji and Franky win and they come in car 2 whereas sniper king is still trying to convince robin to get away. Sniper King uses a smoke bomb and Franky detaches car 2 and they manage to get robin with them though kalifa uses her thorn whip to bring the car back. Franky sacrifices himself but it's in vain as blueno uses his devil fruit to create Air door and gets robin back. Blueno also tells us about what happened when robin saw the last Buster call on the island when she was 8 yrs old. Everyone was killed and she is traumatized because of that😭😭. Then we see robin and Franky taken to the enies lobby which basically has a huge waterfall aroud it.

Luffy and the others come across the car 2 and sees sanji and Sniper King and then they all create a plan with the help of Paulie who knows the layout of the enies lobby. Luffy though couldn't wait loll and launches himself as soon as he sees the island. We then see Luffy attacking the Navy single-handedly and the Franky family are behind as per their strategy. They will open the gates so that the straw hats can get the train inside easily and don't have to waste time fighting anyone apart from CP9. The Franky family sees Kashi and Oimo giants and get scared as they are the gatekeepers and that's where the volume ends!!.

______________________

The fact that robin's existence is a crime as per the government tells us alot about it. Things are definitely fishy and I need to know wtf is going on here😅😅. We also see Spandam talking to the CP9 members as how he wanted to assasinate the leaders of the revolutionary army. So why this revolutionary army exists ? Did the government do something bad? And if yes then what? Are they the bad people is that why they need the Pluton to have total control? Is it like 1986 by George Orwell?? I am so excited to get these answers and read ahead 😄😄.

oh yeah the train lived up to the hype. SANJI USING KNIVES like i know why he doesn’t normally use them but GOD DAMN he’s a damn good chef. robin and franky together…. i remember why i like them together 🤭🤭 but genuinely i love their dynamic both being the only people to bring to life a world destroying weapon. ALSO SNIPERKING IS SO COOL … i miss usopp tho hope he is ok during this arc …
